Canadian S9+ - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I have a Canadian Variant of the s9+ (SM-G965W) and really want to get the beta. The beta isnt coming to Canada. Is there anyway I could try getting the beta? I have already tried downloading samsung+, it doesn't show up on samsung members, I've tried using VPN. Still nothing
Thanks

You will have to flash a stock 965U firmware with Odin

How do I do that. Will I have to flash a us version? if so which one?

Please dont take this wrong or as an insult but if that answer above isnt enough info, you may be in over your head. Please research thoroughly if "flash a 965U firmware with odin" isnt all the info you need. That answer is all the info except direct links.

Oh I didnt even notice the U... Whoops?

what exactly do I need to flash(csc,cp,ap)? And will it trip knox?
Is it safe to do so?

is your bootloader locked?
i want to buy China Mobile version(G8508S) here in Shanghai and i am afraid the bootloader will be locked and this method above won't work.
mine is g850f, don't really know if I have locked or unlocked bootloader.
For information obviously it tripped the knox warranty void, but I don't care

I would like to know if this works on the AT&T version as well.
Cool that's it's rooted already, but there's not a lot of support for the phone, no ROMs, etc.

Ditto for me... on the fence with this one. It has the perfect weight and size, I just don't want it to be an oddball version of a phone that no devs wind up supporting. I've been waiting and waiting for the Nexus 6/X but either way based on the two rumors it seems like it is going up in size which is the opposite direction I'm willing to go.
Guys wait a little, the phone was just released!
Chainfire made root, please note: triggering KNOX void.
Go to: http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin

I'm interested in this device (to replace a Galaxy Note 3 Neo), however I need it fully HMP-enabled. Is it so? For app support, you can try 3C CPU Manager or 3C Toolbox, it should support your CPU 8 cores already, and show if it's HMP enabled.
No root for SM-G850W

Cannot update g850f (tun) 4.4 to 5.0.2

Helo everybody,
Im stuck a bit with update. I have downloaded the 5.0.2 android for my phone from sammobile but unfortunately odin always fail with the firmwares.
The only thing what i can do is installing back my old firmware, Otherwise not even kies could recognise my phone.
Is there a reason why its now allowing me to update it?
My current android is G850FXXU2BNK3_G850FOJV2BNK5_TUN
And i have tried G850FXXU2COI3_G850FNEE2COI1_NEE (This is for nordic countried...5.0.2)
and also tried G850FXXU2COE4_G850FH3G2COE1_H3G(This is for GB and H3G service provider)
Unfortunately both failed at the end.
I have tried the usual troubleshooting which was described here, but i think i just cannot find the proper 5.0.2 android for my phone.
Is it important which country i choose?
I bought the phone on ebay a year ago, made in Vietname, and the csc is TUN.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
Thank you.
Same with French xef?
Any specufic branding?

Helo. Sorry im quite noobish with this particular topic. What does xef means? Do you mean have i tried with any French firmware?
No it is just a simple sm-g850f (Tun).
I have put back the tunesian (original) firmware and it works like a charm now again....but still no luck with 5.0.2

Removed my OS like an idiot (Samsung Galaxy Tab A P355)

So I tried to root my phone and screwed it up (it was stuck on the Samsung boot screen).
Then I installed TWRP to try and recover it, but being the idiot I am I just ended up deleting the OS.
Now I don't know what to do, please help me.
Edit:
I have managed to fix this with the help of a user below!
What I did (for other users having this issue):
I downloaded the firmware for my device from Updato (link here).
Then used Odin 3 (version 3.12) and loaded the downloaded firmware into the AP slot.
I had to plug my device into the wall to allow it to charge (connecting it directly to my PC did not work), then I booted it up (it was stuck in the Samsung logo screen for a long while, but then it went into the setup).

Use ADB file transfer using the fast boot command line. Then download a flashable zip rom and push it to your device then flash, you also want to get gapps if you want to have Google play.

I'm very worried about this.
Also other solutions say to download the right firmware for my region from websites like SamMobile but my country isn't listed anywhere.
Sorry if I am giving unneeded information, but I am seriously stressed over this.

Maybe it's imported from another country then. I really don't know.
Do you remember what csc it had before wipe?
You can probably flash firmware from any country as long as it's unbranded. (not carrier specific)
I've done it a lot on all my phones to get the latest updates faster. I've had no problems at all.

No idea what the CSC was.
I will try installing another regions firmware.
You think I'll be able do that and then use Kies emergency firmware recovery to reinstall the original firmware? (Sorry if that doesn't make sense, again I don't really know what I am doing).
Appreciate your help mate.

Hey! I just managed to download the firmware from Updato and I am very relieved to let you know that I was able to boot up the tablet and it worked successfully!
All my files are gone, but that's alright, I deserve that for being and idiot and screwing up in the first place!
Just some final questions: Since the firmware region is "Indonesia", what exactly does this mean?
From my Google searches I see that firmware region doesn't mean much, just a few settings are different (such as having the language automatically on Indonesian). Is this true, or will I encounter any issues regarding this, since I am in a different region?
I appreciate your help and advice! You are a very good person and a valuable member of this community.
Thank you!
Good you got it going, and thank you for your kind words
You're right. It's mainly just small regional differences and as long as the phone/tablet isn't locked to specific carrier it usually works just fine with any csc.

Current Software Version for SM-G965U1 (formerly Verizon Wireless SM-G965U)

Is this the most current software version for the unlocked variant of the S9+? If not, please help me download it.
Here's a screenshot.
Yep that's it, nothing to download. Except the Pie beta if you want to check out the very latest but probably deal with some bugs

I believe you need RJ2 from the G965U1 firmware thread. Use Odin to flash that and then go to the Pie beta thread for the 965U1 for the beta files.

Not possible, the U series phones use a snapdragon processor and the F models use the Exynos. They arent cross compatible. Just flash the U1 for your phone

no problem, and while its not what is traditionally called a "ROM" per say, the 965U can comfortably run on this firmware https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...SM-G965U1/TMK/download/G965U1UEU6CSH7/294847/

Unfortunately after installing that firmware I got the Shut Down after locking with fingerprint issue (documented here among other sites: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/reboots-shutdowns-fingerprint-scanner-t3856346).
It happened after it got updated to PPR1.180610.011.G965U1UEU6CSI1.
So I'll try to flash a different firmware... :crying:
