Pixel Launcher - Motorola One Questions & Answers

Why Pixel Launcher doesn't work on Moto One?

There's a lot of versions and modded ones out there so it's hard to say without more information.
Maybe you're trying to install a version aimed for Pie on a Oreo system?

Gcam for Moto g5 plus 32 bit Oreo 8.1 stock...???

As a user I request the developer behind gcam mod is there any chance for Moto g5 plus to get support from latest gcam as it is on stock 8.1...i know it is 32bit...but many of us do not believe in flashing custom rom...if possible please try so that g5 plus user can get portrait photography without flashing custom ROM... although I know camera2api is must but that's okay to root..I think our last hope is Arnova8G2..

To custom ROM or not custom ROM ? Help !

So here is my dilemma :
I really would like Android 9 Pie, (I was thinking LOS 16) for a variety of reasons :
The Google Camera 6.1 is intended for Android 9+, (yes I know BSG is working on making it compatible with 8.x) (I tried it on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1, and if you install it as an update to his 5.3 version, panoramas and video work. (no normal pictures, no Portrait ) So having LOS 16 would mean not having to wait for Xiaomi to update MIUI to Android 9, and whatever they say, the visual change wont be so striking as with MIUI 9 --> 10, so I don't think that's top on their list.
Digital Wellbeing would be pretty useful, and from what I heard it wont be in MIUI 10 Android 9 (whenever that comes out)
But I'm holding back for a variety of other reasons :
Being on LOS 16 would mean getting Gcam 6.1, but also losing the stock MIUI photo app, that I still use :
Whenever I'm in a situation where it's image processing is more fitting, (night for example; Gcam spurts shaky blurred photos)
For Slo-Motion and Timelapse
The video mode has incredible stabilization that Gcam does not have.
I also use the manual mode for long exposure times etc.
So are there ports of the MIUI cam for other ROMs?
The TWRP build isn't an official one yet, (from what I understood that means it can't handle decryption, so would erase the device?) I'm fine with that but would there be any other possible problems?
My biggest fear actually is that if for whatever reason I want to come back to MIUI, I'm not sure I would be able to do that. I mean, I think I know in theory how to do that, it's just that
The different ROMs you can find here (that's where I downloaded MIUI 10, but I updated from the settings > three dot menu > choose package ; with what I had downloaded) Can those be installed from TWRP, if I want to revert?
So there goes, I haven't written everything bugging me, but these are the main things,
MIUI Cam for LOS? (and other ROMs)
Reverting
I would really like to hear what all of you think.

It's real easy to revert to stock/MIUI. Just use TWRP to backup your entire stock system image before flashing LOS, then if you ever want to go back just restore from there.

Now we have a twrp version that handles the encryption of miui. So, no need to worry about this!
You're overanalyzing things. Switching a ROM is a matter of minutes so it's very easy to go back if you don't like it. About the camera... Tbh, I prefer Gcam for its wonderful low light shots and much sharper photography in general. I'll miss slow motion and the manual mode but it's not that big a deal for me anyway.
you dont have to use custom roms, i am myself using miui rom as it is the best for me right now. have tried others rom but always back to miui, i flash globe miui rom which has some of the bloat removed and its pretty good.
I would suggest to try the roms you are looking for. Try miui9, Miui10 , LOS16 whatever and get the one which fits the best for your needs. That's the way I did. I am no on los16 and it's damn good. I like the pie stock and Volte is working. Now the Gcam mods are working since the last update even the new 6.1 is working. And due to working TWRP you can switch roms in minutes....

If I want digital wellbeing or any other pie-specific feature, I *do* need a custom ROM as MIUI isn't on pie yet.
is there a way to take long exposure photos with the L0s 16?
well i wanted to ask the same thing .. is it worth it to change between roms .. i mean do the touch and keyboard improves on other unofficial roms ?!
I would suggest stick to the stock for now. As pie build is just around the corner. And after that we can expect gcam to work fine. There would also be fix for touch sensitivity in the stock update.
Now, before switching to poco I was on custom roms for more than a year as stock was filled with bugs(zuk z2). And the most annoying drawback that I faced was that every now and then some app would detect root and won't work. This happens even with magisk safety net and magisk hide. So using a phone with that issue as a daily driver is really annoying. Apart from that for a custom rom there are monthly updates which always recommend clean flash although you can get away with dirty flashed but still. One positive side is stock android experience is always amazing and nothing can replace that. In my opinion stock android feels way more polished and classy compares to MIUI or any other non aosp based rom. But if you want to use your phone as your daily driver then I would suggest you to stick to stock rom for now at least.

can you please tell me what version is that, cause I face the same encryption problem and it's a pain to change ROMs and losing my data all the time

[Q] Stock based PIE ROMS?

Sorry if this has been asked but I looked through and didn't see any LG based PIE ROMS.
Are there any about?
I've tried all the usual PIE ROMS (Lineage, DOT, HAVOC etc). Just fancy trying an LG Based Custom ROM without going back to complete stock.
Thanks,
Ross

Well, first LG has to release Pie. I'm only half-joking.
EU H930 30a failed as Release Candidate and EU H93030b became the first official EU H930 Pie release for that variant. Then H930 30b was pulled from LG's servers due to RAM management complaints. A new, improved version supposedly released among Korean carrier variants. Australia H930DS got Pie less than a month ago, but don't think it's new, improved one. No North American variants have received Pie yet.
So, everyone is sort of in limbo.
Back during early Nougat and early Oreo there were a couple of stock-based ROMs. WETA US998 ROM by @Mentalmuso and BOOMBOX by @Whiskeyomega (which achieved cult status with audiophiles). Both departed the scene about a year ago. WETA Nougat was a favorite of many, but the Oreo version was never really finished. Link was posted unofficially just to show progress, but dev then said he was moving on to other things. Boombox Oreo was never updated past August 2018 -- whereas in the 12 months since then LG has given us DTS 3D stereo libs in stock Oreo updates and major camera improvements.

COMMENTARY
Stock ROMs are few and far between for two reasons:
1) unlike the old days, current LG firmware doesn't need much improvement (at least Oreo). It's very stable, fast, fluid. Great battery life.
Don't like the look?
Install Nova launcher with cube rotation, your choice of icon packs, your own wallpaper.
Want some mods?
* Install Anxious V30 Magisk mod. (Still for Oreo right now. The dev may develop for Pie when it's ever released for her North American carrier. I'm still on stock, rooted Oreo so that's perfectly fine.)
Enables:
All Lockscreen Weather Animations, Anxious Kernel Script, Custom/V50 App Profiles, DTS:X 3D Surround, Dual Speaker for North American Variants, Falsified Advanced DAC Mode (a.k.a. Forced HIM, but well done), G7/V40/V50 Camera Features (Updated Camera App, Updated Gallery App, Google Lens, Super Bright Mode, Updated AI & Filter Data), Google Phone (stable), Google Sans, JoyPixels 5.0, LG Equalizer Settings (w/ Custom EQ), Pixel Roboto & Various Other Fonts, Pixel WiFi Mod, Razer Phone 2 Nova Launcher, US GPS Config, YouTube Vanced (Black);

Think there's some bloatware you don't need?
Install Titanium Backup, and freeze whatever you don't like. (US998 has almost no bloatware to begin with. I froze Twitter and maybe one other app.)
2) Because of #1, most devs don't like to spend time on stock ROMs. @Whiskeyomega developed some audio mods (which he posted as standalone mods in Themes/Apps section), and then his Boombox ROM was mostly giving users their choice of which audio mods to install (which anyone could themselves on stock from this standalone mods) and some other tweaks/debloating. It was basically his personal version of stock ROM, which anyone can do themselves. See point #1 again and all the stuff you can do yourself, which includes audio mods.
MOST devs who create full blown ROMs want to do BIGGER things than merely tweak/debloat already-debloated stock firmware. So, they go to AOSP/Lineage ROMs. (I'm not including public service ROMs like the stock-based TWRP flashable zips. Those have some build prop tweaks, but are mainly KDZ rebuilt as a ROM -- which we all APPRECIATE GREATLY!)
Once stock Pie is released widely, most ROM devs will move on to Android 10 (Q) ROMs. Because they will want to do something not yet done.

Suppose that all makes sense.
I'm currently running Lineage and have no complaints...
I just sort of fancied trying the LG software again if it was out for PIE and someone may have had a rooted ROM that allows changing the navigation, status bar etc

I'm running rooted stock firmware with no complaints. I changed status bar icons with Xposed mods (including Gravity Box and Xstana), I'm running Nova launcher with my choice of icons, Anxious V30 mod and other stuff.
Agreed, mod rom can be replace by xposed and stuff. What we lack is a back port rom from newer model like v50. (Like what we see on older s series have backport rom from newe one)

S21 SM-G991U Stock Android ROM

I am familiar with twrp on other phones and see it for the S21. What I can't seem to find though is a stock Android (not One UI) rom that I can flash. I am running Ruthless Launched on One UI 4 / Android 12. It just doesn't do it for me. I was much happier with the Pixel layout so that's what I want to do on my S21. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
