how to recognize from the packaging of the mate 20 pro if it is branded or not? - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

how to recognize from the packaging of the mate 20 pro (dual sim) if it is branded or not?
I've just bought huawei mate 20 pro, the seller claims it could be branded. invited him to do a check on the package of the mate 20 pro, reports that not being able to say it before, we must open it to see if it is branded. I sent an email huawei still no response. Many vendors claim to sell the non-branded mate 20 pro, so it is very strange to know it is not possible to know it from the serial or imei of the pack of the mate.
Also if I open the package I have to activate it to see if it is branded, this could be a problem to send it back to the seller.
It is possible to defer the mate 20 pro not without unlock bootloader and without root.
I need some useful information to understand if I can recognize from the package if it is branded or not brand? or or it's an easy operation to make no brand
the mate 20 pro with firmware flash?
last sent back the parcel to the seller is purchase by another more serious seller. thanks you all

Honor 9 Internetional: a few questions if you please

Hi there guys..
I just saw an offer on GB for the Honor 9 at € 281, which is indeed a great price. It's the International version, they say but there's something weird.. I read here on xda a few people that ordered the International version (don't know where) that should be AL00 but received Asian version, L29.. He had to flash the international rom. It's not that I fear flashing something but I wouldn't like to buy a thing and receive another one..
Anyway, just in case, flashing the International firmware does stop receiving updates, somehow? Until the firmware is stock, unrooted and bootloader untouched it shouldn't be an issue, I guess..
More important: I read that both versions have the same identical hardware so it's natural to think that the LTE 800 MHz is missing from International version, isn't it? Otherwise what's the difference about? Just a firmware? Still it would be weird because if I recall correctly Honor 8 eu version had it (but I maybe be wrong).
Last but not least, from your personal experience, is it a good device to buy for that price? I' not so sure and I would like to wait for something new but the offer is really good considering the original price..
Mmmm it's weird btw.. I just checked on AliExpress for prices comparison and I found a device with Internetional Honor 9 but the codes to pick from are AL00, AL10 or TL01.. so neither one is Internetional version (yeah I could flash as we said)
EDIT: this is the link https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_649021.html at normal price, there's a code for discount (if you need tell me via PM I could share, even if there are only 30 so don't know how much they'll be available). From the latter screenshots in the page it seems it should be STF something, could it be? What's that?
The only color available is the pure black, maybe gray is better as overall looking, isn't it?
EDIT2: I see you have it, STF from your signature

As I know all models are Chines, I can be wrong but I saw just L09C300/C900. Thid is code for international rom C300/C900 and this AL00... are Chines models so probably if this models have C300... firmwares yes, can be international

sorry mate I edit my post.. so basically from the link I posted above, the screenshot says STF-L09C432B100 so it should be basically as the one you have.. was your device International when you bought it?

I fear this is the International version signature, the European one (where LTE B20 is used if poor 4G signal) is FRD-L09 or L16 (32GB and 64GB).. I'm really tempted but I'm not sure now
EDIT info here (post 4 and so on) https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/model-stf-l09-t3636884/page3 and here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/frd-l19-europe-version-64gb-buy-t3458943
This i my case. I live in France, last month I ordered a Honor 9 black on the website priceminister with good offert, saved around 130€ vs buying here. The seller is from China, so I thought this phone is Chinese version, I prepared myself that I will do "rebrand". I received the phone yesterday. It is written AL00 version on the box, but when I started, surprisingly there is already all Google services, and in the settings, it is L09...version, and it received an update to ...130 immediately after. So, I thought the seller did "rebrand" the phone before. I'm happy with it. Only one minus thing, the charger plug is asian type, not european type, I need an adapter

That's the same case with me. Though I don't live in Europe and honor 9 is not officially available but there are grey importers that bring in the phone from China and rebrand it. Luckily the seller did provide an adapter.
Problem is not the model strictly but the fact that only European models have band 20 (800 MHz) for LTE.. (so FRD-etc) ?

Where to get the 6GB/128Gb non-pro Now?

Hi all,
I'm keen to get the Mate 10 (non Pro) 6GB/128GB now - and I see some of you have it! (I have the Mate 9 Pro)
I'm in the UK - where's a good place to buy it? I see Wondamobile and TradingShenzhen and some of you give good reviews.
A few places like Banggood have it but not available for weeks.
Can this version be rebranded? FunkyHuawei seem to do it?
I have purchased from Wonda before with good service. Took a while to arrive though! Thinking of the Mate 10 at moment!
I've been in touch - FH say that the Chinese version of the 6GB/128GB can be rebranded to Asia. They're saying not to rebrand to Europe as this is a single sim ROM and they don't know how the second sim slot will behave.
So where can I buy it? Somewhere preferably that can avoid import customs and tax to the UK?

According to Wonda Mobile website, they have arrangements with shipping courier to pay all VAT and import fees. The price at checkout is FINAL. No need to risk being charged a VAT up to 20%
This explains why they're about £50 more than anyone else.
Giztop now appear to have stock and cheaper than Wonda(£699) or Shenzhen(£649) at £615
https://www.giztop.com/phones/huawei-mate-10.html
But Wonda will rebrand the phone for you and have excellent ratings.

I have ordered it from Wonda and asked them to rebrand it to L29C636. I know it's more but I hear it's very difficult to rebrand so I will let them do it.
I'm quite curious as to how well this particular model would work on AT&T in the US? I'd love to grab it but $900 is very pricey if I cannot take full advantage of its connectivity.
Guy's I would recommend Wonda Mobile, I have bought a total of 22 phones from them in 12 months and never had a single issue

This is getting exciting! I'm still a little confused about versions. Is the L29C636 the Asian version? Is this version devoid of all the Chinese features, but allows two LTE sims? Whereas the "European" version only allows one sim? Are there other differences. Anyways, please keep folks posted on how it works out. Thanks!

Yes - that's the sum of it.
You may find that you can't do OTA if you're outside Asia. I have a Mate 9 Pro - L29C636 and until very recently, I had to install updates via Funky Huawei. Huawei seem a little odd in their approach to updating - your device needs to be authorized to receive it, but if you were in the wrong region for your phone, it wouldn't update without a sim from that region.
Saying all that, my Mate 9 Pro received, for the very first time, an OTA update this week.

Ok. Hopefully the OTA situation changes with Mate 10. One more question. Do voice commands for default apps work in English using Asian version? For example, I have a Chinese version of the Mate 9. The default phone app allows voice commands to answer phone but you had to say "answer" in Chinese. It could not be made so that you could say "answer" in English. Thanks!

My understanding is that Asian version ties up to Singapore, where the default language in English. I've never encountered anything remotely Chinese on my 'Asian' version. I use Google Now, but not used voice commands per se!

Mate 10 (standard - not pro or lite) availability?

Hello,
I'm in France where Huawei has decide to release only the pro (and lite) version of the Mate 10.
Coming from Mate 9 (which I love), I want to upgrade to Mate 10 standard (notably for its upgraded camera) but not to the Mate 10 Pro, because I hate the screen ratio of the Pro (tested on a friend's phone) and the absence of audio jack.
Anyone understand Huawei commercial restriction over the standard version of Mate 10?
Is the standard Mate 10 available in other European countries (such as the UK)?
Do you know how I could purchase one (L29 version), while still being entitled warranty?
I'm so upset with this marketing strategy.... Do you think Huawei will come to it sense and will eventually release the standard Mate 10 more widely?
It's probably a lost battle, but is there a petition going on on this request?
I wrote to Huawei support about the availability of standard Mate 10 in France but they didn't care answering me... Is there any influential website where Huawei may listen to its customers?
I'm in Australia where both the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro are available, but I still opted to buy mine directly from China because their market is the only one which has the higher-end Mate 10 (non-Pro) with 6Gb RAM and 128Gb storage (i.e., the ALP-AL00). All of the suppliers I've seen on AliExpress perform re-branding to ALP-L29 prior to shipping, and the OTA firmware upgrade I received today confirms that Huawei's servers are treating my 'phone as a genuine unit.
Of course, purchasing from China won't give you local warranty - so if anything goes wrong during the warranty period, you'll have to send it back to China for repair/replacement - but the cost saving was big enough for me to justify the potential gamble. I paid a little over AUD$960 (about 627 Euros) for mine including DHL delivery from this seller and I was so happy that I ordered another one for my son.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro BLA-A09 or the Huawei Mate 10 ALP-L29 International version

I've been reading various threads to determine if it's better to get the US or International version of the Mate 10 or 10 Pro
Is there a difference with unlocking the bootloader for the US/non-US versions?
Based on what I've read it seems to be more difficult to unlock/root etc the US version.
The Mate 10 specs claim that you can increase the storage via SD card in the Sim slot, but I checked a few Amazon verified purchases that claim there is no SD card via sim.
Lastly, I'm curious about ROM/Mod support, it seems pretty thin.
I'd like to install Magisk and possibly the ElementalX kernel. I typically install monthly security patches, but once I'm satisfied with performance, stability, and battery life I usually leave the phone as is.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You are much better off buying a BLA-L29 and rebranding it as a BLA-A09 so it will work with VoLTE in the US on T-MOBILE and AT&T. If you try to do anything with a BLA-A09, you will likely end up bricking it. You can't force a dual SIM even though a dual SIM holder fits in the BLA-A09 and no memory card support.
Doing it the BLA-L29 way, you get the dual SIM and it actually works on the US rebranded.
That's my recommendation. I signed up for Funkyhuawei club to do everything.
Hope this is helpful.
I do prefer the P20 Pro over the Mate 10 Pro though.
Good luck.

OK, to make sure I understand this - BLA-A09 is US version, BLA-L29 is non- US. The BLA-A09 does NOT support dual SIM?
Rebranding ensures the phone works better on T-Moble (I use project Fi); what about APN settings - do they have to be tweaked to work with T-Mobile?
The ability to add storage is pretty important to me, so I was focusing on the Mate 10 over the Pro, if I'm correct, the pros sim slot does not support an SD card, but the Mate 10 does.
I assume rebranding is also important if I get the Mate 10 (not pro)
Have you tried to use the phone with Android auto? I've heard it doesnt work, and that the bluetooth connectivity is also dodgy.
Im reading Funkyhuawei on XDA now, thanks

APN should just come over naturally. But if you do not need a 2nd SIM, you actually are better off with the US version only because the cellular radio on the us version, the A09 is tweaked slightly better to pick up the US cellular better BUT software updates are like never on the US version or last in line. So it's kind of a toss up. I don't have connection issues with my P20 or my mate 10 and they are both Europe versions and I'm on T-MO. And P20 Pro does not support memory card either...
Sent from my CLT-L29 using Tapatalk
Also the L29 Version has more LTE bands so you need to compare those as well.
I was on the fence on these two models as well but pretty much decided the L29 was best cause if updates. I wish by now the A09 wasn't last in line as claimed (unless something has recently changed) I'm not really sure though but hearing about better cellular reception or stronger on the A09 makes me wonder if the L29 can be flashed with equal as to the A09 but again who knows.
I haven't purchased one yet as I need to sell 2 phones I have now first.

I found the Huawei Mate 10 ALP-AL00 128 GB unlocked for $575 with shipping, no tax. It will take up to 2 weeks for delivery via USPS, thanks for your advice.
Just be aware that only the A09 will have a warranty in the US. None of the international models or variants have warranty coverage of any kind when sold in the US (and they can tell what the phone originally was by the imei and serial number). Amazon sells the A09 and the L29 models (either one you can get pretty quick).

My question is if I bought the Mate 10 pro BLA-L29 version (cause of faster updates) but rebrand to BLA-A09 for VoLte on T-Mobile then will my updates be for A09 version (being last to get updates) or will my updates come from L29 for my device?

If you rebranded an L29 to an A09 you "should" get the A09 updates, there is an issue with the IMEI though as updates verify that number so an L29 rebranded to an A09 "might not get any updates as it would still have L29 IMEI numbers (not an expert on that though). With the lack of any warranty on L29 devices in the US unless you absolutely have to have dual SIM capability I would just get the A09 model.
