Google camera not working - Asus ZenFone 4 Selfie, Selfie Pro Questions & Answ

None of the google camera works i tried all the possible apps such as gc mod, gc cam, camers nx, all the original google camera apks for android oreo none of them work but the nougat supported camera app is working.

Im trying to install Gcam this week on my phone but its the first time i see someone downright saying it worked or didnt worked on the Zenfone 4 selfie pro
Its kind hard to find info about this model. It feels like just a few people own it
Did you ever saw anybody saying that Gcam works with the Zenfone 4 selfie pro?

Quite few own it
Well even less people are interested in rooting forums and then who ever is interested does not find anything he requires in the forum

Best working Google Camera MOD?

So, does anyone know which version works best for the Redmi 5 Plus? I am mainly looking for a version for the back camera, I don't really care for the selfie camera if there's a version which works for both, fine then, but I mainly focus on the back camera.

Google Camera On Zenfone Max Pro Tested!

Hello everyone, I recently unlocked the bootloader of my Asus Zenfone Max Pro and installed Magisk to root the phone. All of this was done for just thing - Trying out the Google Camera as I do feel that the Stock Camera app is pathetic and that's the major reason why the Zenfone Max is not performing that great. For Google Camera to work, After you have rooted your phone, download this app called 'build.prop editor'. After it is downloaded search for 'persist.camera.HAL3.enabled' The value would be 0 by default, Change it to 1 and then reboot your phone. Now install the Google Camera apk(Whichever you feel like, I'm attaching the one that I keep using) and you're good to go. Everything including HDR+, Front And Back portrait Mode, Video Stabilisation works.
Here is the complete video review along with Comparisons with the Redmi Note 5 Pro On Google Camera.
Thanks....google cam is definitely better.
How to root Zenfone max peo
Now that you have rooted are you able to use Tez ?
Wow man that looks far better!
Can you upload a video
Can you post some pics from front cam? Is there any noticeable improvement over stock cam??

hey brother, first big thanks to you for doing this.
yesterday i just ordered 3gb version of this and glad to find your google camera app review. i earlier saw your videos with max pro m1. i like the way you reviewed it, like a daily usage user unlike others who do monotonous review which gives the feel that the person did not even use it.
https://www.gsmarena.com/asus_zenfone_max_pro_(m1)_zb601kl-9173.php
Anyways, my query is regarding google camera app on max pro m1 ?
1) In the specs, its given that phone supports 1080p/60fps recording. During its announcement it was mentioned that such feature will come ? Could you please check whether google camera app provides the same ?
2) And in the video you have mentioned with google camera app, support for EIS comes in ? Could you please elaborate more on that.
And part from this, please give your general view with new updates how much is the Fingerprint sensor and Faceunlock is making life better or worse as most says because of its slow speed?
Cheers,
Arnold
Any apk for unrooted device? All can't root the device, as it has risk of making phone dead.
What happens to the Battery life and futures OTA updates !?
Thanks for the post
Indeed am looking forward to root my asus max pro m1 and install google camera
But Need to know how it affects the battery life and Future OTA updates that the Phone is likely to receive.
Looking forward for an answer !
Cheers and Peace!

It doesn't affect the battery life and apparently OTA Updates will work with Redwolf Recovery. I haven't tested it since there is no new update to test with

I haven't found anything for unrooted phones. Rooting won't make your phone dead. There are ample amount of guides here on xda which are very simple.

I couldn't see 60fps option but I will try some other google camera apk and reverify. About EIS, yes it works with Google Camera. Sometimes you get some artifacts on the left/right edge but overall the footage seems a lot smoother. I still find fingerprint sensor to be slower and face unlock is a hit or miss. I'd say it works 70% of the times. Struggles sometimes in indoor or dim lighting conditions.
i just use Oneplus Camera, i think its still better than Google Camera. Go find it at apkmirror.

Pixel 2/3 Camera Port 4 Umidigi One Pro

Hi, i'm all new to XDA and i hope, creating this thread was not the wrong way to do. If so, thanks for pointing me in the right direction then.
I actually only wanted to know if there is an existing port of the google pixel 2/3 camera app that actually works on an Umidigi One Pro and if not so, are there any devs interested in making one ?
The device itself is a really great phone, only the camera is below average and i was hoping to improve that by using the gCam, only i can't seem to find any recent version that works on the device and i almost tried them all by now.
Many many thanks for any hint or help provided.
I would be interested too....
I don't think that Umidigi One Pro will ever get the GCam because of Mediatek. Snapdragon devices manage in getting it thanks to the Hexagon DSP, which is inside Snapdragon processors. A good solution for the camera of your Umidigi One Pro could be the Lenovo Snap-It camera, I used it on my old Umidigi S2 and it increased a lot the quality of my photos. I leave you the link to download it (unfortunately the thread was abandoned so that app won't get updates but it will surely be better than your system camera app)

Pixel camera port?

I googled everywhere, but can't seems to to find anything on it. Is it possible at all or not due to SoC?
I would highly doubt it, mainly because the pixel has 1 back camera and the mate has 3
Could still happen, other phones have more than one camera and have had it ported over, OnePlus 6, LG g6 etc etc but the only Thing that might be an issue it them. Phones have had snapdragon processors as opposed to Huawei Kirin.

Porting Google Camera is much easier from Snapdragon SoC to Snapdragon SoC, yet there are still issues on OnePlus phones cause of the different sensors. I'm afraid it would take someone in the knowledge and motivated to properly port GCam for Kirin, and then you have the problem of the multiple lenses, something GCam doesn't support natively. First and foremost Huawei should just significantly cut back denoising and some of the sharpening, or just offer the option. Otherwise stock camera app is well rounded (minus GCam's awesome photosphere).
Night Signt is what I am more interested in from the new Google cam.

You are absolutely right. Some tweaks from Huawei and the stock camera App is brilliant. There is no need fpr GCam on Huawei especially since Huawei started with those dedicated night modes.
The problem does not seem to be the SOC as Mate 10 pro has a perfectly usable GCam port but the P20 pro doesn't. The problem is with the IMX 600 on the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro as it enables pixel binding technology to capture HDR photos within the sensor itself rather than stacking different shots together. The pixel binding technology relays on the sensor to capture four pictures at once while other HDR technology only captures one photo at each shot. Oneplus uses the same technology on its secondary sensors so If there if any ports are working with the Oneplus's secondary sensor, then it might as well working on the Huawei devices. But If that's not the case, then it's not likely for us to get hands on any workable GCam shortly.
What a shame. imo the Mate 20 pro cam modules are really capable, but the software tends to screw up my images. I mean as mentioned, the sharpening, and the noise reduction is way over the top, and makes the images oilpaintings rather than actual pictures.

but you know, you can download this apk and its working perfectly
Also waiting for this
I tried many ports but nothing worked. Agree with Don.Chen's insight, I also found M20P compatible with some P20P's ports, but not the M10 ports. Miss GC's Portrait mode. Basically hardly any support for Kirin processors. Saw people mentioned Huawei's Camera API 2 is blocked, thus GC will not work for HDR+.
I hope some devs will turn and give it a try to mods gcam to work with our device

Is this from pixel 3?
At least it works . And it's real 40 MP photos with zoom.
I tried one of the gcam version but it didnt work correct, so I deleted it. But i have a feeling that after that my camera doesent work so good anymore, it doesent take so good pictures anymore. Do you think that something like that is possible, or it is just my feeling? I dont have any good pictures to compare between, so it is hard to prove.
No change in terms of quality here. I guess you could do a soft reset? Has anyone found a port for wide angle support? Thanks

GCam

Just received my Mi Note 10 today and thought I'd kick things off to try and find the best GCam app.
After looking around, I've found one that supports three of the rear cameras (main sensor, wide and 2x zoom).
The build is: Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.6-Fu24_5Lens-01h.apk
I'm a new user, so can't share the link, but it's available at: celsoazevedo.com
How are the results?
Crashes for me and the couple of pics I did take were not as good as the stock camera. The first pic is gcam no night mode, the second is stock camera no night mode, no flash. It was 9pm last night dark with no street lights
I'm seeing mixed performance as well. At first it seemed to be working okay, but it does crash occasionally for me.
Hopefully this gets the ball rolling in finding a good GCam app though. I'll scour for some more apks and will post if I find anything else to try.
finally someone asked the question !
i"ve been waiting patiently since the device came out and strange enough every one seemed happy 'bout the stock camera but we know xiaomi better than that it's a ****ty app
hope someone will get the gcam mod right
..stay strong..
Latest cstark27 gcam 7.2 seems to work rather well on Night Mode and even (forced) astrophotography, however the saturation is lower than normal (increasing to max value doesn't seem to have any effect).

Thanks this one works on nigh mode but basic camera crash with no error or with resulution error if raw enabled,
anyone knows if any gcam works with the 108Mpx mode?

For the moment Nothing
Wait for S11
Wait for Galaxy S11, That phone is going to get a 108px sensor too .
And I think developers will then be more eager to develop for such high megapixel sensors such as the mi note 10..we just have to WAIT!
---------- Post added at 03:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:20 AM ----------
And also cuz S11's sensor might be the same sensor as in mi note 10 or a 2nd generation if the leaks are correct so I guess that the S11 port will 90% work on this phone and sensor
Would be nice to get an app that supports all of the cameras. I wonder what penta setup the S11 will have?

The fu24 build mentioned at the top is the only one so far that I found to output 27 MP photos from the main cam, as well as work with the ultrawide and 2x tele.
However, all gcam builds I tried so far have severe lack of saturation with the main cam. Even those that allow increasing the saturation.
Apk and source decompile stock cam
If anyone wants to try I can send you the apk and source code decompilled smali files of the Xiaomi Note 10 stock camera App, to look for the 108Mp codes to trigger the mode, since at camera api 2 the resolution is not there, PM since can't post links yet
I'm testing this gcam https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.2.010_Urnyx05-v1.4.apk
From the settings enabled the wide and tele cameras, then from the advanced settings go to library patchers and set the contrast to 2.0.
In my opinion they are good, later I attach a proofIf someone wants to test and maybe work on it, it would be a great start, among other things, it starts at 27 mp

That's bad looks like a developer needs to build something more customized for the mi note 10.
