to buy or not to buy poco f1 ?! - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

so who thought that he can buy a flagship mobile with 300 $ ?! i think no expected that !!
you watch the reviews and the mobile looks like a mobile on steroids with 4000 mah then you buy the mobile and discover thats not the whole truth !!
the mobile lacks on the software and the hardware quality control !!
you are gonna face new problems that arent even found on cheap mobiles and were taken for granted before .. who could imagine buying a mobile with touch issues nowadays ??!!
anyway thats my list of problems that i want to share with you so you dont get deceived by reviews on the net :
i have touch problems .. it is not that severe but it prevents me from writing flawlessly and i have to spent double the time in correcting keyboard spelling mistakes .. i checked the display and it is the tianma fhd nt36672a display
i have other problems as well :
1. the display produce text red ghosting while scrolling text ( it could be minimized by fiddling with color but mobile colors will be messed up and the problem is still there partly )
2. there is quite a lag when dealing with camera zoom via touch and it is considered a massive lag not seen on cheap mobiles what about 845 sd processor
3. youtube hdr colors are washed out
4. hdr hevc 10bit files used to play flawlessly on embeded media player with correct colors but after update it turned out to be washed out as youtube hdr videos
5. light bleeding from lower edge is still there causing a bright edge
6. beside netflix and amazon problems not playing hd

Still have warranty? Have it replace.. mine works fine(no screen bleed, ghosting, etc).

When this phone launched at such aggressive price, everyone knew all along that the phone will have it's cons. Still the price and configuration makes it a fair deal in my opinion. There are few issues yes but nothing you can't shrug off.

Do not buy it, at least not until the touch problem is fixed.

I thought I would jump into this thread and ask my question...
So I have a Note 9 and it's... grand... it's just boring. I miss being able to really get under the hood and mess around with the phone. With the F1 I'll be able to do just that plus have a few quid in my back pocket after selling the Note 9.
The only things stopping me is the F1 is technically just a bit worse in most aspects (the screen being my major concern) and Samsung One UI looks interesting.
What you guys think?

I don't have any touch problems on mine.. but i have an annoying lockscreen notification issue.
While the phone is locked i receive a notification and it shows in the lockscreen. Then i unlock the phone without clicking/opening the notification. After that i lock the phone. When i wake up the phone and check my lockscreen, the notifications disappear. is there any way to fix the bug? it's really annoying. Please help guys. I'm on the latest stable update for poco f1. Global stable 10.0.6.0. I also use the default theme.

what a stupid response.. it doesn't happen on my oneplus and samsung phone.. notifications are supposed to be showing until we click/open them.. this is clearly a bug otherwise it only happens on xiaomi devices

just a joke, mate.
There are a lot of bugs on MIUI and things are gonna get worse. I sold the device when I had the chance, sorry for you.

I don't know why are you guys complaining, you knew about some issues and cosmetic disadvantages but I'm extremely satisfied with the phone. I got none of the problems listed above, for sure it's not Note 9 or OnePlus 6T but those phones are more or less about bragging rights. Just my 2 cents. Don't forget to try unlock Note Snapdragon or Huawei's bootloader
PS: Using Lineage firmware and it's more than I could hope for. :good::good::good:

My only complaint is that the stock software is absolute sh*t and you can't even unlock your own device, you have to ask permission for it, what the hell Xiaomi...
This makes me not recommend the Poco at all. If anyone is in doubt, just go for an OnePlus.

i own oneplus one. since day 1, the Oneplus One was awesome
but to be offended by the unlocking req by xiaomi is just childish
a lot of companies ships their phones with locked bootloader for ecurity purposes
those in china, their biggest supporters; will just use it as it is. so it is their priority
it is the same business strategy as Apple did in the USA
after asking permission to unlock, will have to wait for 72 hours on the bind device to unlock it
this is pretty safe.
MIUI is (if you are referring to it as stock software) quite heavy on the UI but it does comes with a lot of built in features that people (other people, yes) are quite fond off. so yeah, this phone is for everyone, not to deliver for just one person request
just heads on to their website, and request for features. done

well i am not nagging here i am pointing to real problems facing users .. also i am not debating is it worth the 300 $ or not because clearly it is worth it in my opinion .. but mobiles are not just hardware ??!! you cannot release a phone with too much software problems and bugs ??!!
also no consistency in fixing software problems .. you fix one problem 10 more arises ??!!
i just want to know whats is wrong with this company ??!!

well i agree as a starter but to have it replaced you must know the cause of the problem first .. am not gonna keep going and replacing the phone for like 10 times .. so xiaomi needs to address this at first .. it is not me alone who complains of software and hardware issues !!

For hardware issues(screen bleeding), it must be factory defect, so a warranty can replace.
For software issue(latency touch, notifications in notch), the are addressing the issue with their latest MIUI 10 beta 8.11.29
And I think Xiaomi are more focused on their flagship, the MI8.

Multi touch issues?

Hello everyone, I just got this tablet today and I'm having an issue with it. I was trying to play a music game and I noticed that when I touched both extremes of the screen the multitouch would release my fingers for some reason. I've recorded a video of it using a multitouch application just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, here it is:
Link to the Youtube video
Do you think it's defective? If anyone has this M5 10 tablet could you test it for me and see if you also have the same multitouch issue? Since I just got it today, should I return it? Or is it something that can be fixed?
Thank you.
Received mine today from Boulanger in France, i used the same software as you to test it. Everything is working fine, even with 3 or 4 fingers, using the same kind of routine you used. So i suppose that your tablet is faulty. Sorry mate.

This stuff happens Thanks for testing it out! This one is going back
I have the same problem bro! You can find my post here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3777471
I have already open a ticket on the support
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have the same issues als well. You can see it very well with the App "Multi touch test" from Spencer Studios.
Has someone more info on this issue as the tablet is useless for me with those touch problems and I will send it back if there is no fix available in the near future.

Hi Andrgin, which is your problem? In my case I have the problem only if I touch the screen with two fingers. In this case seems that the tablet, after 2 sec, can't recognize anymore the touch. I'm waiting the response of the support for the ticket that I opened, hopping that they can tell me that is only a software problem and not an hardware issue, let's see...Anyway I have your idea too, I bought this tablet to play music game and is really useless with this problem.
When I touch the screen with 2 fingers at the same time and do not move them for about 1 second the tablets looses the touch of both fingers. It does not happen if I dont put both fingers down at the same time (more than about 500ms), move the fingers around while they touch the screen. Also it does not happen with 3 or more fingers.
To me it seems like the system treats the as a gesture.
I made a video about it:
youtu.be/PXXakOw_1Hk
I also thinks that the system treats this as some kind of a weird gesture. I don't think it is related to the hardware. I'll ask the Huawei support soonish because it really is annoying with cytus 2 for example or even pdfs when you want to pan soon and have 2 fingers on it and then your touch input gets removed.
This is with the 10 pro
Could it be, I hope that you are right but is really strange that only some devices have this problem, if it is a software problem, all the devices with this software need to have the issue.
I think all have this problem. So far everybody that said he does not have this bug had tested it the wrong way. You have to place both fingers at the same time and do not move them. If you move them while touching the screen it still works.
And no I dont think it is hardware related.
I also experienced this (talked about it in another thread), but it must be more complicated than that.
It's not something that systematically happens whenever i put two fingers down a the same time. It works just fine most of the time, but occasionally notes will drop, always in the same spots, in the same songs. "Pointer location" shows the touch is still being registered, if that's anything to be trusted.
I'll take the occasion to ask again since there seem to be other people who play music games in this thread: beside the touchscreen issues, has anyone noticed a slight delay on the audio feedback? I'm talking about a 100-150 ms delay from the moment i touch the screen to the moment the corresponding sound effect plays. The touch itself is registered correctly, but the audio lags behind for some reason.
Either way, i sent back the 10.8", gonna have the 8.4" here by tomorrow i hope, will update on how this one behaves.
It does not matter where you place your fingers only that it happens at the same time (less than about 500ms) and you dont move them for about 1 second.
About audio I dont know. Most time I had sound off.
It may be a general Android Oreo bug, although the article speaks about Android 8.1, not 8.0:
https://www.xda-developers.com/android-8-1-oreo-multi-touch-bug-fixed-june-update/
Maybe Huawei used parts of Android 8.1 for the M5.
A fix from Google is planned for the June security update.
Just tested the 8.4", after installing the new update. Interestingly enough, it didn't seem to drop any inputs.
The sound delay, however, is exactly the same, and it baffles me no one else seems to notice it.
On top of that, i think i got a defective unit, as the charging speed starts off at 3300-3400 mAh, then drops to 500-600, never to rise again. So much for quickcharge.
Battery also seems to run considerably hotter for no apparent reason: 37 degrees Celsius while charging at that pitiful speed, no other apps running.
For reference, the 10.8" never exceeded 32 degrees, and that's while charging at max speed, with apps running at the same time.
Overall, this tablet has been nothing but a huge disappointment, i'll just refund it and wait for something else to come out at this point.
Edit: it charges normally when the screen is turned off. When the screen is on, the charger seems to provide enough current to offset whatever i'm consuming, plus those 500-600 extra mAh, so no matter what i'm doing that speed doesn't change. The 10.8" was charging normally, full speed minus whatever power i was drawing, so i'm still pretty sure something's not right.
@chris_g I really hope it could be the problem but wait two more months it's really frustrating! For now I haven't received yet one answer from the support...
Not really good news from Italian support, them tell me that no reports was received about our problem, so them suggested me to try to reset the device to the default to see if is a software problem. Did you guys found something else? I'm really thinking to request the replace of the device.
Just to be sure, could someone give me the mail of the international/English support? I want to try to write a mail also to them.
Cheers
I got the M5 Pro from amazon.it and the warranty check showed that I get warranty in most European countries. I opened a ticked with the Austrian support providing all the info they needed. They said they dont know of the problem so far and will forward it. This was over 1 week ago and I did not receive any response yet.
Replacing the tablet will not solve anything because every M5 (at least the 10" versions) have this bug.
And no it is not an Oreo bug because my Mate 10 (also EMUI 8.0) works fine. I guess it is some code Huawei added to support the pen.
Firmware Finder already shows a EMUI 8.1, but it is not approved for installation yet. I guess we will get Oreo 8.1 in a few weeks/months and this bug will hopefully be fixed in the new version.

Don't be so optimistic on that one, as Google themselves introduced an all new multi-touch bug in the 8.1 base. Thus one bug will maybe just be replaced by another one, as Google already stated that they'll have the bug fixed in the June update soonest. Let's hope Huawei uses the patched June base to upgrade our tablet to 8.1.
Sent from my HTC U11 using XDA Labs
Huawei already ships Android 8.1 with the P20 so I guess we are getting the same code. I never heard about multi touch problems there so I guess Huawei has already replaced that faulty Google code. With all the people complaining about late Android updates for existing devices, but there is a reason most vendors wait until they release a new Android version for the masses. Google phones are simply beta test devices.
I have the 8.4" wifi model. It suffers the multi-touch problem but not the sound delay problem. I tried the drum pad app, sounds play instantly as soon as I touch them.

LCD panel bleeding light at the bottom chin

Can any one confirm if they are seeing a bleeding effect at the bottom of the phone lcd panel. Overall the lcd panel of this phone is really bad. Comparing it to my OP2 and the illumination of the panel is too low. Anybody else with the same issues? I have put up a pic of the issue. Updated images of comparison with OP2 (In each pic POCO F1 is the at the top and OP2 at the bottom.)
Update 10/09/2018
First up my apologies for being away for the past 3-4 days. I have been trying to solve the issues with the phone and then over the weekend was caught up in some personal stuff. I thought of updating my original post rather than putting up a new one as this whole thing has come to a conclusion for me. So just a small recap, I bought the phone on 29th AUG in the first flash sale. Received the phone on 31st AUG as soon as I started the phone I found the bottom chin had a weird illumination. After a few days as the issue persisted checked online and found that the LCD panel suffered from light bleeding issues. I just headed here and created this thread and put in a request on Flipkart for a replacement. After that here is what followed.
04.09.2018 - Return requested
05.09.2018 - Got a call from Flipkart that a Technician will visit to check the device and same will be completed by 08.09.2018
07.09.2018 - Technician visited my place and checked the phone, he accepted that there was an issue however he mentioned that it is difficult to observe and explain the issue to his seniors. He however took a pic of the problem so I was hopeful that a replacement would be provided.Late evening I got a SMS that tech visit was completed, I checked the Flipkart app and it said Replaced Rejected. WTF!!!! There was Return option so selected that and the reason I selected was quality issues with product. Was surprised to see that refund request was accepted and someone would pick the package the next day.
08.09.2018 - Courier guy came to pick the package. Since I have kept the back stickers with the bar code and stuff I had just everything back as I had received it. The courier dude was acting smart and since I had already left for work he tried bullying my Mom saying the phone is not working asking what the issue was, me Mum just asked him to shut up check the package had everything and take it like he is supposed to. After checking everything and making sure all accessories are there the courier person took the package. I got a message that package was picked and refund initiated and credit will show up in my account in 3 business days.
10.09.2018 - Credit received :victory:
Regarding the Issue
First - This is not a fatal issue and as far as I know LCD bleeding does not increase with time however this is a hardware issue so if you are holding on thinking some software update is going to fix this, then sorry you are wrong.
Second - I don't agree with the "you get what you pay for" argument simply because everyone is paying the same amount of money but having different experience (We can see from pics posted by users that for some the problem is obvious and for some it is minimal and hardly noticeable)
Third - If you have this issue and it doesn't bother you then I would say go ahead and enjoy the phone. If you noticed this after checking this thread then I am sorry
Fourth - I would strongly recommend that people buy this phone taking Replacement/Refund policies of the merchant that is selling the phone into consideration. Guys that have purchased this from Mi website directly and want a replacement are having a tough time and am not sure if Mi website even has a refund policy. For Indian users get this from Flipkart and not Mi website, for other countries make sure Replacement/Refunds are provided in case you want to avail the same.
Final Thoughts -
I though the POCO F1 had great potential to take over from OnePlus as a budget flagship alternative however they messed up. If the POCO team had spent a little more time and may be resources on QA ,Software optimization (bugs in MIUI, bad implementation of curved corners, multi touch issues, etc) and may be a better name {POCO I mean seriously!!! } this phone would have been a serious contender.
Conclusion
I would like to thank everybody that participated in this thread and responded with pics for a comparison. Since I don't have the phone anymore I don't think it would be right for me to post here anymore. I just put a new battery in my OP2 so going to wait for some time and see what the Pixel's gonna be like or the OP6T maybe.
Looks fine to me on my POCO F1.

All the best for your refund mate hope they process it without hassels. The pblm with this issue is that some people just say it looks okay. Best way to reproduce is to open Chrome blank page and press and hold Power off button till the power off options come up and check the bottom if it shows a halo effect.
Let us know how the refund goes it should help others in making a decision. Curious thing is not a lot of people complaining about this like the boot loader issue.

I guess you are opening chrome in "Incognito" mode. The effect is visible on white backgrounds I guess if you just download a white image in full screen it should show up as well. Have no info on the service mode however some one having this issue posted on twitter regarding a display test you can do.

A bit of inconsistent brightness levels are expected with LCD panels however with the POCO F1 quite a few people are facing LCD bleed that is very notice able. If the inconsistency is minimal and some thing you can live with then its alright. For me it has been bothering me from day one as soon as I switched the phone on. I mainly use my phone for watching videos and the effect sometimes is more pronounced and that bothers me hence I have asked for a replacement.

Did we just buy a brick for a phone?

This device is made for gaming, but you can't play games and when you complain against it, "it's just a $300 phone, what do you expect?" dude, why it has a SD845 if touch issue is a norm? why didn't they put SD430 in it? a lot of people have this issue.
As the last user replies, there's no reason to hate it for being a little worse than 500$ devices. For the money you're spending its definitely the best device you could buy right now.
1. Sound issues - Software fix will work.
2. DRM issues - Another software fix.
3. Multi touch issue - Check the thread someone posted a solution, though most of us never faced it.
4. Lag/Frame drop issues - Never faced in the games I've played but 845 is more than capable of not having frame drops, so its just software optimization again.
5. Battery and Heating - I never saw 50 C on my poco and my other devices remain there even after moderate use so its better. (Ambient temperature is high in my area) and the battery lasts forever. My standby usage on 4g mobile data was 0.3% yesterday (3.5 hr in 1% drop) and SOT is consistently using just 10-15% per hour which roughly translates to 7-8 hour of SOT and at least 6 hours for a heavy user, tell me one 845 device capable of this?
And Jai Mani from poco does see our tweets and repiles too, they're working on DRM fix currently, notifications on notch area are also being looked into and they resolved the bootloader unlock issue so fast, I'm hoping they'll fix the other minor things too.

I don't know what world you live in, but for solving DRM issues, OTA won't work in this one
Multitouch issue is a major issue and the device is useless unless this issue is solved. A lot of users are facing this issue and I am not alone apart from PUBG keyboard is very slow and lags, touch has a delay, inaccuracy in selecting texts. With these kinds of problem SD845 is useless because input devices are limiting the hardware capability.
If you have ever taken Computer Science 101, a input device should be as responsive and accurate as possible else using a fast processor on a slow input device is as stupid as it gets.
regarding the reply, I have made multiple queries on the forum and filed 2 bug reports, and even quoted few admins and mods, they aren't even replying.
And if they still think that it's normal then they should take this device and refund me my money, which they are not doing. I had to convince them for about the issue for at least 2 hours and best they did was replacing the device but I don't want this **** and will never buy phones from Xiaomi ever again unless the devices are thoroughly tested and bugs are fixed.

Please verify your information about DRM, oneplus 5 and 5T had the same issue of netflix hd and they resolved it via update(Yeah the update had to be done at service center only). I've taken every computer science involved in engineering (a CS engineer myself) and I understand your concern but somebody did post a fix for that. I've faced the touch issue in my other phone while charging which was due to a buggy kernel so its definitely debatable that it could be a software issue.
I had a speaker distortion issue, my replacement was arranged instantly over phone (Flipkart).

1. Sound issues - We will solve it soon
I've no idea what's that. Can you explain?
2. DRM issues - Just don't watch netflix or prime in HD because we have loads of money to have HD plan but can't watch it.
The phone doesn't support V1 out of the box, most of the Xiaomi phones doesn't support. Heck even the One Plus 5/5t also doesn't support. You get what you pay. To make it clear, I don't believe it can be fixed by a software since it requires secured machine to update the phone which only OEM's use. Only way Xiaomi can fix it by asking customers to visit Service center and updating the V1 from their machine. Otherwise, just forget about it.
3. Multi touch issue - what do you expect from a $300 phone?
No such issues here.
4. Lag/Frame drop issues - What do you expect from a budget phone
No frame drops, lag issues. Source? I play PUBG 4-5hrs per day and never faced that issue. PS: It's not a budget phone.
5. Battery and Heating - Every phone has it, what is the problem?
So what if the phone gets heated, it'll heat when you do intensive tasks, I guess you've never used a flagship phone in your life? All top high end CPU's like SD835/845 etc generate heat. Xiaomi did great job in keeping it cool, my phone never crossed 50+ during games.
May be you should stick to Samsung J7 phones. That's what you're meant to use.
Use what you like and stop cribbing about it. You don't like Poco F1, use iPhone X or any other high end Android phone. You pay $300 and you want a phone to behave like $1000? No phone is perfect including the iPhone X/Samsung Note 9.
I've been using Poco F1 from last 1 week and so far I'm in love with this phone.
Wow... so much hate, and most of us had no issues with phone what so ever. What gives you the right to be hater and try to generalize some problems that 95% people never experience?

Tell me, did we just buy this phone for the sake of having a SD845 and liquid cooling system and not use it properly?
Is this device only capable of calculating 2+2 and no heavy work?
This device's name should be named Poco Compromise 1 instead...
BELIEVE ME I HAVE USED A LOT OF XIAOMI PHONES, I KNOW HOW THEY WORK:
I have used Redmi 2/Prime,3S/Prime,Note 3/4/5, Mi4i - Do you know Mi4i? This **** was launched as a Flagship in India but they ****ed us up.During the first month, they provided support although few people won't call it a support because for the heating issue they released a fix, that arsehead Barra called it their pathbreaking thermal config, when the developers looked at the config they found out that those idiots permanently turned off 2 cores of the SD615. Later when the hype died, they slept as they do everytime and after just 1 year the SOT of that phone dropped to 1 hour even when the device was used minimally. Because of their pathbreaking config, SD615 earned a bad name for being a non-battery friendly processor, although Moto G Turbo had the same processor and was one of the best device during that time.
I URGE YOU ALL (THOSE WHO HAVE TOUCH ISSUES) TO COMPLAIN WHEREVER YOU CAN SO THAT XIAOMI WILL AT LAST EITHER FIX THIS ISSUE OR TELL US IF IT IS A HARDWARE ISSUE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE AND THE HYPE DIES. JUST WRITE IT ANYWHERE YOU WANT, AFTER A MONTH OR WHENEVER POCO ANNOUNCES A NEW DEVICE ALL THE HYPE WILL SUDDENLY DIE AND NO ONE WILL CARE ABOUT THE ISSUES, SO DO SOMETHING WHILE THE TIME IS RIGHT!!!!

Dude. Just come on already. You keep making it sound worse each time you post the same thing.
Sound issue : A software bug nothing new. It'll get fixed if not improved in the later updates
DRM - Frankly if you had "loads" of money, then why didn't you put your trust in samsung or Apple. Leave Xiaomi to budgeteers.
Multi touch - Every one knows they made the biggest compromise in the display/touch panel. But most touch issues are due to gestures. Can be optimised.
Lag/Frame drops - unless you are playing emulator games from PS2, this is impossible. I play PUBG for 2-3 hrs every day.
Battery/heating - When you turn the best feature of a device into its worst, then it makes people think you ahve some kinda agenda here. Avg SOT is 9 hrs and max temp during intense gaming 40+ which comes down in 2 secs.
Only capable of 2+2, really? I had a legitimate argument going on with touch/display compromises but now.
I ordered mine earlier today. God help me lol

The only phone I have ever heard that the DRM was changed is OP5 others had to stick with whatever version they got. Apart from that the certificate change requires physical connection with an authenticated computer i.e. the company's computer that means about 7-10 days for those who live outside cities like Mumbai and Delhi and since very few (or none of) Xiaomi phones in India has L1 Widevine support all the legal hassles and paperwork will be so tedious that they will either charge you for that or won't do it.
Multitouch issue is different from what you are referring, check the following bug report and video:

BELIEVE ME I HAVE USED A LOT OF XIAOMI PHONES, I KNOW HOW THEY WORK: So assuming you knew they treat you the wrong way all the time, why spend money on them again, and DRM issue for Xiaomi is well known, if you are familiar with their phones, why would you be shocked to know it now?
Maybe you are just angry!! Channelize it on the Xiaomi and Flipkart social feeds and your problem has higher chance of being solved.
Seems like OP got a bad unit.Sound issue and multitouch issue will be fixed in next update.Except Widevine L1 support, all thing said by you is wrong. No issue here, bought in first sale.

Yea I only said its possible and as no Mi devices supported it, even some huawei and zte didn't support it but only poco f1 model is being bashed for it because you all try to find cons in a product that offers at least more than its cost.
Multitouch is due to gestures implementation and it is a software issue. Sound is always fixable even if they don't(root and fix yourself). You may have gotten a bad unit but we didn't face any issues that are worth so much hate.

This phone is utter Garbage

1. Screen Bleed. Not terrible but annoying.
2. Unable to transfer files to phone from my PC. I tried 3 different PC's. I have developer mode and tried both usb debug mode on and off.
But files either refuse to copy - or copy so slow that it would take days to copy large files, literally.
I installed the Poco drivers and Mi assistant. It tells me I need to update my phone before connecting to PC.
But my phone IS updated.
3. The mic hardly audible on video calls.
The mic only works if I have my mouth VERY close to it, other wise people cannot hear me at all during video calls - I mean literally AT ALL. The person was sitting quietly waiting for me to talk but I had been talking for over a minute before I realised they cant hear a thing. Did a Skype test call.. same problem.
4. It took me weeks to even be able to order this phone due to the bad habit of advertising the phone but not having enough stock available.
5. No refund available, just the painful process of sending it back and having to gamble on getting a better quality phone.
I can see my self stuck in an endless cycle of returning these phones. becasue none will be up to standard.
It has a fast processor, pretty good camera, and good battery... but the rest seems utter garbage.
I'd rather a slower phone that actually worked properly.
1. my Poco is made in China and there is not screen bleed, screen is perfect.
2. no problem for me to transfer file from Poco to Win10 in vm.
3. not tested with Skype so idk, but with normal call with speakerphone enabled i did not have problems atm.
4. :::
5. :::
What you listed is nothing compared to the touch issues this model has... It's barely usable because of them. Other than that, it's very solid. I don't even mind the light bleed, I just want the touch response to be snappy and accurate (which it's not...).

Nothing?
I got this phone mainly for Skype video calls on the move. But with the awful mic its totally useless.
Plus I got the 128GB version for more storage space, but cant even transfer files to the device.
I didn't notice many touch issues though.. maybe a bit.
Thats what we get if we pay cheap... crap quality control.
My model was also made in India - which probably means it's even worse.
About the USB thing it wouldnt work for me on the USB 3.0 ports of my computer, but I know its not Poco's fault, not even my new sound card gets recognised there. If your computer is old one (mine is P9x79 Pro with 3930k) its most probably just the USB fault. It was when USB 3.0 first released and I remember it not even working properly until drivers released a year after. Not to mention that I still have problems with it sometimes.

I mean that your mic issue is probably easy to fix in future updates (I just tested a video call myself and the other person heard me very clearly) but the screen is most likely a hardware issue which is the worst. I don't have any problems with the file transfer either.

Yes, this phone was supposed to be a 'flagship killer killer'
Now when people point out its faults you say 'what do you expect from a cheap phone'.
Well if its crap, say so and I wont buy it.
People have been raving about it mainly due to the ultra fast processor, caught in the hype and ignoring the bad build quality and quality control.
Plus Mi India wont even give refunds.
AND they wont even check my replacement before sending it. So I may get another duff model and have to go through the entire process again.
So yes,, THIS PHONE IS GARBAGE
LOL the touch screen on my unit sold in Italy is perfect. I am in many italian android and tech forums and here no one has this (fake) touch screen problem. All made in China obviously. There are too many indian kids here...

Maybe that's the issue.
Indian products are notoriously terrible quality.
Plus Mi India won't even offer refund.
After I read this thread, I just connect my phone to my PC to see if my Poco has any troubles transferring. Recognized by the computer, I then selected USB transfer rather than charging on the phone, and transferred over a 100 MB file in about 2 seconds. Fastest I've seen so far on a phone. So, for what it's worth, no issues here.
I find the screen bleed issue interesting. Reminds me of my 2012 iMac, where there was a huge blow-up online with screenbleed at the bottom that almost nobody noticed until they read the online forums..... Never noticed it on my phone until i read about it here. Ha!

Maybe I should change this thread title to: 'INDIAN PRODUCTION AND QUALITY CONTROL STANDARDS ARE GARBAGE.'
From what I'm seeing here it seems most of the phones made elsewhere are pretty much fine.
Interesting that people think it get worse ,I don't see backlighting get brighter as days go by, Backlight will get dimmer ?
Hmmm i read all these issues people have and i have yet to encounter any of them. I use my F1 daily since 6. September. Only problem i have is finding a good flip case for it.

I can speak for myself, I don't know why it does it to you. I can connect my s9 on that port and it works just fine also. However I had problem with MANY devices in the past (even last week with my new sound card) getting recognised or working properly. Some devices work, some don't. Do I blame the devices? Absolutely not. This is the price you pay for adopting new technologies like USB 3.0 (when it was first released) Its not pocos fault for being incompatible with 3.0, because it works fine on my 3.1 laptop, or USB 2.0 on my desktop. Same with my sound card. Again that's my own case, I don't know why it's not working for you. My suggestion is to try different drivers and/or upgrading the firmware of the usb.

Strange issue. Can anyone help? It's urgent please.

I'm having the dreaded touch lag issue on my poco device.
I've sent it back for repair or refund but they refuse to do anything since the touch tests pass.
I tried explaining them my previous 3 years old device is fine and that the poco which is much newer and faster should do this and they don't listen to me, they say that the device is working like the manufacturer intended for it to work.
So, can anyone record a video?
It should only take 2-3 minutes to record and upload. Do it in 480p it doesn't matter as long as it shows the issue.
There are 2 ways to do it, the correct way, and the fast way, I'll write both.
1) Go to about phone, kernel version, tap a few times then CIT testing app will open. (if it doesn't open try again)
Then go to the top right and press the three dot menu, then additional tools, then touch sensor.
Then tap really fast on the edges of the display. If your device is working as intended the touches should all be registered.
2) Download realdrum, and tap really fast on the below drums on the edge of the display, If your device is working as intended the drums should register all the inputs without missing.
Again it's urgent, so I could use all the help I can.
Thank you.
Did you tried your device without a case? I read about cases doing this issued.

I feel for you. All the 7 pocophone I have tried have this annoying issue. I've complained and asked people about it, and who claims that theirs is working fine is either using Swiftkeyboard (which isn't as fast as Gboard), or simply doesn't know how to test this properly. Maybe they just don't notice it at all, but I doubt there's a single pocophone without this bug, and this is what made me give up on the phone.

2 returned from a retail store, 2 from amazon, 1 that I tried from a store and 2 more from friends of mine. It's absurd how bad their quality control is. They claim that it's software, just like they claimed the screen bleeding was part of the phone. They're a ****ing joke.

Most of the units if not all have this problem, I canceled my order for this phone recently and I'm glad that I did. Xiaomi had to save on something and they did, sadly on the screen. Screens from tianma are known for their not very good quality ( rumors say that they catch afterimages after time ) and it feels bad that it turned out that this phone is a big no no. Screen is a numero uno thing when it comes to a phone, damn u look and type on it so despite the great specification this phone is a crap. People all over miui forum write threads that their pocophones have input lag and ghost touches. Xiaomi knows about it and since a month clam that they gonna fix it via ota updates. Let me tell you something they won't. It's not possible to fix it because it's a faulty digitizer that causes the problem which is obviously a part of the hardware. That's what happens when you try to rock the world with the best spec budget smartphone and u cut costs in the lcd panel area. With all that being said, don't fall for this phone. If you look for the good phone for 300 bucks then better option imo is for example Lg g6. Don't get fooled and stay open minded guys, peace.

Good decision, refund this crappy phone and get something better. When it comes to me xiaomi just lost a supporter and follower, once Hugo Barra left xiaomi everything started to fall apart ( mi mix 2/2s are not as revolutionary as the first mi mix was or the mi 8 which is nothing else than a iphone x copy ). It's always good to wait and see the very first 3 months after a phone release, usually after this time most of the fails/cons come out. Have a good day anyways

Have a good day as well pal.

Well, it doesn't change the fact that lcd panels in pocophones are poor quality. I don't really believe that they managed to fix it via updates, only time will tell after let's say a month if the problem is fixed. I don't think that it will, it's better to send the phone back, get ur money and wait. There are way better options for example the aforementioned one plus 6.
Working fine for me
For me it is working fine. I can't see the blue line which show the position but the touch is working fine even when I tap it fast. The touch is always registered without the blue lines. You can always see a red dot where you touched.

And you try to understand smart boy that input lag is related to a hardware problem not a software problem, go and check by the way miui forums. There are plenty of people commenting that 9.6.25 didn't fix a thing.
