Hi I have a question if the phone reaches the 2. 96 speed when it is NOT gaming like when doing other things. Is there a way to set the speed or limit the speed to save battery when NOT playing games.

[Q] Max Temperature for CPU

I was curious about the max temperature for the CPU as I see many of these profiles setting up a reduction in OC if > 40. My problem is that I cannot maintain a temp below 40 with anything higher than 480 yet I see many people running 600-729. Could anyone shed some light on this for me.

The sustained max temperature you will see depends on what you are doing. Particularly if you have one or more radios going, you will experience high temperatures. For instance, streaming audio over the Mobile network or using tethering (WiFi tethering is the worst), it is trivial for the battery temperature to go above 50 C.
I saw 55 C once on my phone with a stock HTC 2.1 ROM (528 Mhz max) - I was streaming music, running a WiFi wardriving app, and also running the Nav app simultaneously on a 3 hr drive - in warm weather.
Unless someone on this board works as a thermal design engineer for HTC, it will be impossible for them to tell you what is too much - they would have to know what the thermal path from the processor to the battery is, and that's pretty much an impossible thing to guess at without pretty detailed calculations.
I set my temperature clamp profile to kick in at T > 50C; below that temperature, my phone runs at 768Mhz when it is fully charged. I would say that using the phone "normally" (as in extended internet browsing (reading, not video), texting, short phone calls), I rarely see my battery temperature above 40C.

[Q] Does underclocking saves battery?

I've install Rom Toolbox,
and i saw there is a "CPU slider" where i control the clock speed.
i've put it to 1000MHz instead of 1200MHz and tested it for several days
i really dont feel any difference in performance.
browsing seems same, games like asphalt is equally smooth.
heating is similar, equally warm.
the only difference is quadrant benchmark.
1200MHz scores 3200-3400
1000MHz scores 2600-2900
frankly speaking, i'm not sure if there's any difference in battery life.
is there any way to accurately test whether the clock speed affects the battery life?
i've seen other threads, where there are very different opinions.
some say it will improve battery life, and some say its worst.

On my SGS2 program called CpuSpy shows that 1200MHz is about 1% of total cpu time (remember that governor is ondemand and CPU is at 1200 only when need it). If power consumption is directly proportional to clock speed by limiting it to 1000MHz you will get about 20% less power usage by 1% of time... looks like 0.2% power saved ? Soo if Your phone works for about 48h on one charging this way You can get about 6 extra minutes. It's just my guess...
Also have to consider if slower cpu causes screen to eat power for longer time... (because You have to wait longer for operation to complete)

HI, thanks for replying. I understand what you mean. the phone dont operate at 1200MHz all the time. but when using browser, and playing games, such as asphalt, it runs at max CPU usage almost the entire gaming duration.
Anyway.....
the real question is whether the clock speed is directly proportional to the battery consumption.
while reading your post, i thought of a brilliant ideal how to verify this.
the CPU slider not only allows you to set the max CPU speed,
you can set the min CPU speed as well.
So, i thought of an experiment, lets set the min & max CPU to 1200MHz,
this way, the phone will be running constantly at max CPU even when its idle.
let the phone be turn on till it run out of battery, record the time, T1.
then repeat again with max and min CPU set to 1000MHz.
record the time it is turn on till it run out of battery, record time as T2,
then compare T1 & T2, this could certainly work.
it would be nice if any member here happens to have 2 sgs2, and tried them ;-)
There are two more things to consider
1. CPU is not the only element that consumes power.
2. SGS2's Exynos is always clocked at 200MHz when the screen is off - check if this minimum slider affects that too.
Please let know how your experiment goes.

when the screen is off, the phone will be in "deep sleep" state. i think thats less than 200MHz.
anyway, i wont be doin this experiment any time soon.
you see, this is my only phone, i need to use it.
i dont have much oportunity to leave it and wait for it to run out of juice.
still, i'll try it when i have the chance.

Does decreasing maximum clock speed of the cpu really increase battery life noticeabl

As the title says, is it really worth? I mean, should i decrease my phone maximum clock speed of the cpu by, like, 100-200 mhz in order to notice less battery consumption?

You can decrease the cpu clock speed for better battery life. But don't decrease to 100-200 mhz. It can cause constant random reboots and make your device very unstable.
Really? I'm using my s3 neo with a clockspeed of 1.3 ghz instead of 1.4, and i'm rarely noticing strange things

Peak CPU temp under load.

Hi, what is the normal peak CPU temperature for the phone? Mine is going above 90 on the antutu stess-test. I feel it pretty hot around the back camera. Is this normal or my unit is faulty? Thank you.
Is that degree fahrenheit or degree celsius?
Hi, it is Celsius. Please note this is the CPU temp. The battery temp was in low 40s at that time.
Could anybody please run the 15 minute Anutu stress-test and check where the CPU temp goes in Celsius? Thanks!
I've seen several videos on YouTube, the temperatures never raise above 45 degrees celsius, even after an our of playing PUBG. So I think there's definitely something wrong with your device.

It's odd but I have bad experiences with the older 800 series of Snapdragons. I'm still holding off Pocophone for the SD636 or SD660 until I'm sure it doesn't lead to me frying an egg with the phone after playing for 30 minutes.

Playing youtube 4k video and the CPU is around 40c as well. Please note these are CPU temps I am talking about, not the battery temp which is in low 40s when the CPU goes above 90.
If possible please run the antutu stress-test for a couple of minutes and advise on the peaks. Thanks!
Just played pubg for 20 min on the default settings - CPU temp peaked at 46 C. I guess this is normal but why does it spikes in 90s on the antutu stress test...
Run Antutu test again 264k, temp spiking in 80s here in there at the end was 33 C.
Please advise if this sounds normal.

That 80c spike has got to be erroneous. That's 176F, which would melt the back cover and everything else inside.

I have the same experience. Run antutu and watch the temps using CPU float when it starts the CPU benchmark. Boy, it went all the to 95 C then goes back to 60 and 90 until the cpu part is finished. While gaming, this wont happen as the cpu will throttle depending how hot the battery temps. I posted the thread here at https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/phone-throttles-cpu-gpu-t3839525 so you can see the effect of battery temps on cpu performance.
My question is more like how antutu's cpu test really stress the phone. I run HWBot with cpu float and the maximum temp i was able to get was like 70-75 C while antutu can shoot the cpu up to high 80's to 90's in even cold phone state.
I think it is due to the fact that most of the companies optimise their software in such a way that the benchmarking apps consume the full CPU usage regardless of thermal throttling. OnePlus did this with their phones. My old leeco phone had the same optimization that it automatically utilized full CPU power in benchmarking apps. So I think similar is the case with Xiaomi's Poco f1

Mine too.It goes up to 96 C , then 60+., 70+ then again 96 degrees Celsius in Antutu stress test.
And in heavy apps goes beyond 60 °C.
I bought the phone from Romania, where I live.
I have a different problem, i too use poco f1, my benchmarks are around 4500 at 36 degree celcius wheras it is 8000 at 30. So is it the same with everyone?

GPU CPU Usage

Hi Guys. I play Black desert mobile on poco and when I have High graphics the gpu usage is around 30% while the cpu is 25%. Everything is ok, I can't say something about that. The point is that when I set the graphics to max settings, the usage of the graphics card goes between 35% - 60% and the processor is around 35%. For this reason, I would like you to tell me, how much the usage of gpu affects the overall 'health' and performance of the mobile, if it matters at all . What I mean is, whether it is 30% or 60%, will it affect the mobile in general? For example, I can use max graphics all the time without damaging the phone?

Ok thank you. Are you sure though ? I mean have you checked if there is any difference between the battery power after and before playing for many hours ? Or with the performance in general? Because I can play sometimes many hours a day.
