Nokia X6 with Custom Oreo ROM - How to load stock Android Pie 6.1 plus image
Hi,
I bought a Nokia X6 in September 2018 (6GB/64GB) and would like to install the Stock Nokia 6.1 Plus Android 9 image.
I see my phone is rooted and it shows the message "Your device has loaded a different operating system." everytime I start it and I have to use Magisk to hide several banking applications.
The phone works great and I knew it was going to be relased in Europe eventually, but I am scared to brick it by loading the Android 9 Image.
I already tried attempting the update through OTA but the zip file is ignored. Nothing happens.
I am new to this forum so I don't know if my question has been asked by someone else.
Can you please help me?
Thank you!

[Magisk] [EMUI 8.0] Root Honor View 10, Mate 10 (Pro) (Huawei Treble Devices)

Magisk has officially landed on the lovely Treble enabled Huawei devices! Props to Huawei reaching out and sent me a device for development
Instead of holding it off and wait till the next proper release, I decide to release it here so those willing to root their device can give it a try.
These Huawei Treble devices use an interesting setup: it no longer has a boot and recovery partition, but instead has a kernel partition, a ramdisk partition, and a recovery_ramdisk partition. Both boot and recovery share the same kernel, but with separate ramdisks on separate partitions. Since Magisk modifies the ramdisk in boot images, the patches will have to be applied to the ramdisk partition. This nature will very likely to also slightly change how custom recovery will be installed, my bet is similar to Pixel devices which ships with a full ramdisk image, and should be flashed to the recovery_ramdisk partition.
This build is only tested with Honor View 10, but it should work with Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro in theory since these devices are very similar.
Enough of the rambling, let's get right into it!
Instructions
If your device have TWRP support, just directly flash it via TWRP. For devices without TWRP yet (currently all Huawei Treble devices), you can follow the instructions below:
Install latest Magisk Manager from the Official Thread
Go to Settings > Update Settings > Update Channel > Custom, and insert the following URL: https://goo.gl/jefZKH
Follow the instructions of "Install Via Magisk Manager" in the main thread, but instead of providing the boot image (which these devices do NOT have), provide the stock ramdisk.img.
If you are using EU View 10 with model BKL-L09, you can download the stock ramdisk.img I extracted from official OTAs in the attachments
If you have stock ramdisk images for other devices, please share them and I'll add them to the OP.
Make sure you are installing Magisk-v15.4(1541), which is only available through the custom channel you've set in step 2.
Pull the patched image with adb pull /sdcard/MagiskManager/patched_boot.img, and flash the patched ramdisk via fastboot:
fastboot flash ramdisk patched_boot.img
Reboot and you shall have a properly rooted device passing SafetyNet, start playing with some Magisk modules!

Wow, that's freaky fast man.. you are wonderful.
since we don't have official firmware released yet and out of concern I'm asking, is there any chance of bootloop or brick?
I understand it shouldn't be if we follow steps in OP, but sometimes people miss a step or do something else, so what's the worst can we expect?

So long as you have a backup of your device's ramdisk image, you should be fine. The ramdisk for the Honor View 10 is attached to the OP.

Its doesn't work with my twrp 3.2.1-0 for P10plus. A older twrp version works.
It's a twrp version thing or do I need to add something?

Thanks for letting me know. So what are those software changes happened right after bootloader unlocking?
To install Magisk and gain root in your honor view 10 you have to unlock your bootloader first.
##Please backup your data before proceeding with the process. You will loose all your data if you unlock the bootloader. ##
Please follow below steps to unlock bootloader
1) Create a Huawei ID on this page https://goo.gl/GkkdxE if you don’t have one already.
2) After creating a Huawei id, fill out the details.
3) You will need your phone’s IMEI number, to know that dial * # * # 1357946 # * # * on the dialer app. Fill the required fields and click the Submit button.
4) Save the unlock code you received.
5) Now connect your Honor View 10 to the PC with a USB cable.
6) In the ADB command window, type the following command to boot your Honor View 10 into fastboot mode.
adb reboot bootloader
7) To unlock the bootloader, type the following command and hit Enter. Replace key with the unlock key you’ve previously saved. For example, fastboot oem unlock 44801904392841
fastboot oem unlock [unlock key]

FWIW the Honor View 10's ramdisk works on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. I would definitely not try that with any non-Kirin 970 device, though.

64 bit FOR REDMI 7A

64-bit Base Package For GSI Redmi 7A
Flashing instructions ?
• Boot to recovery
• Flash given zip file (Downloads section)
• Wipe system
• Flash any arm64 GSI of your choice to system image
• Format data, wipe cache
• Flash gapps, magisk, etc...
• Boot to system, congrats you're on arm64.
Changelog:
- Fixed camera service crashing.
- Gcams can now run on Enforcing mode.
- Swap is disabled by default in favor of ZRAM.
- Fixed more services crashing that just filled up the logcat.
- Changed to Global for better overlay compatibility
- ViperFX now works in Enforcing mode where as before it would be unstable.
- Camera doesn't take as long to launch now.
Old Changes (from previous vendor/post):
• Fix bt audio, cleanup audio configs
• Add exfat fix
• Fix headphones
• Fix video recording
• Enable pseudo-gyro (emulated gyroscope from miui)
Downloads :
Base
mirror link
Bugs ?
• VoLTE doesn't work (fix: https://t.me/Redmi7AUpdates/98)
Things to point out:
- As mentioned on the previous release, Pie and Amber/Erfan based GSIs can't boot on Enforcing mode, in which case the Permissiver v5 zip from #permissiver is necessary.
- The FM Radio fix found in notes doesn't work anymore, use this instead (http://www.mediafire.com/file/wgnysvjo362yuco/FM_Radio-Fix.zip/file) and flash through Magisk.
- If you are having any camera related issues then switch to Permissive mode.
-Fixed some stuff and made a new one.
-Sadly, upgrading directly from the old one isn't possible and formatting data is required, I tried to make it upgradable but with no success.
*Currently using Havoc os 3.8"
And credits to telegram redmi 7a team and for the developers who work so hard for this project I do not own this work

You could try to use this on a MIUI GSI ported from the Redmi 8 maybe, but I don't know if it would work completely.
Maybe Erfan's GSI builds? https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/gsi/MIUI/

Also, I'm going to try out Ubports if I can. It would be interesing to see if it would work because of the Q vendor.
Great Work, congrats <3
i have ask helios developer (maintainer of helios gsi) to resize the gsi of redmi 8 (redmi 8 has 3.5 gb raw image that cant be flash easy to our phone which has only 3gb)
"Flash any arm64 GSI of your choice to system image" i dont know what is this, but can u give me yours?
all using just twrp to flash?
How did you root your device? Im currently on MIUI 11.0.3 Q and there's no TWRP or any magisk rooting files/guide that is updated.
Good work btw. If you can share your rooting method and TWRP this can be an ALL IN ONE guide. Many thanks!
EDIT: Its working right now, but thing is I cant flash anything from internal storage, it shows weird letters (encrypted). Its Pitch Black Recovery 3.0. How did you solve this?

Had the same situation here on my 7A with TWRP, i also couldn't transfer the files via file Explorer from Windows to the 7A
because of the encryption (the copy and paste window doesn't do anything and disapears after a while).
Solution to this is:
Format Data > Yes
[Warning - outdated - OP has replaced the fw+vendor file 11.0.3 to 11.0.11]
Explaning some stuff about GSI basics
If this GSI stuff is also new to you like it is to me:
When working with GSI it's important to understand that the version which is currently running on your device, lets say V10.2.5 for example,
has the same version of your patched boot image (actually the boot image is build to fit for the currently running version i guess)
In this Thread the Base (11.0.3 Q FW) must have the same Version as the currently running version.
At the beginning i didn't know how this should work out because in all the other GSI Rom guides there is a patched boot image file in use
but if you want to use this Base (11.0.3 Q FW) there is no V11.0.3 GLOBAL patched boot image file to use?, just russia.
(see https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-7a/how-to/guide-install-lineage-os-17-x-redmi-7a-t4142305 link in download section)
but then i read somewhere that the boot img also/always is part of the stock image and then i saw that the actual stock image from c. mi. com homepage is V11.0.3.
the second thing that doesn't made sense to me was: does Base (11.0.3 Q FW) mean you only can run Android 10 on it and why are there "higher versions" like Base (11.0.7 P FW) for the older Android P?
but anyway i had all the needed files to give it a try.
Instructions how to get from some sort of a corrupt status xy --> StockRom
Because i did some testing with Rom's i needed a "starting point" = this means unlocked Bootloader, Stock Rom V11.0.3, recovery installed
This was necessary for me to find out what step causes problems and also to "reset" the boot.img if i used a patched one
So this was my loop i did everytime to get from some sort of a corrupt status "xy" back to "starting point":
Enter Fastboot mode (Vol-Down & Power)
Install Stock Rom "pine_global_images_V11.0.3.0.QCMMIXM_20200717.0000.00_10.0_global" from c .mi .com homepage by using the software "MiFlash 2020.3.14.0"
(if you use MiFlash for the first time go to Driver --> install & wait for weird message.)
(it's important to use the V11.0.3.0. if you want to run the "64-bit Base Package For GSI Redmi 7A")
if your bootloader is unlocked at this moment choose "clean all" at the bottom of MiFlash instead of "clean all and lock".
("clean all" always ends with the error "error: Not catch checkpoint (\$fastboot -s .*lock), flash is not done" but you can ignore this one)
After install Stock Rom is finished let the device boot to system
if you already have a unlocked bootloader and you used "clean all" option you can now shut down the device and then enter Fastboot mode (Vol-Down & Power)
if you used "clean all and lock" with a previous unlocked bootloader you can quickly unlock it again by entering Fastboot mode and using the "Mi Unlock" software for Windows.
if your bootloader was never unlocked before you now have to do the complete process:
enable the developer options, go to "Mi unlock status" and register/LOGIN ON YOUR DEVICE into Mi-Account, install "Mi Unlock" software on PC and then you can unlock it.
anyways, if your bootloader is unlocked - shut down the device and then enter Fastboot mode (Vol-Down & Power)
[not flashing boot.img, already mentioned why not ]
use fastboot to flash vbmeta.img
vbmeta file
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-7a/how-to/guide-install-lineage-os-17-x-redmi-7a-t4142305
use fastboot to flash recovery.img
TWRP recovery
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-7a/how-to/guide-install-lineage-os-17-x-redmi-7a-t4142305
go to recovery by holding Vol-Up & Power
-->my starting point to testing different settings...
Wipe Dalvik / ART cache, System, Data, Cache.
Format Data > Yes
Do not wipe Internal Storage!
copy the following files to the devices sdcard:
Base (11.0.3 Q FW) - fw_vendor_pine_64bit-rel_11.0.3MI.zip File from download section [Warning - outdated - OP has removed this file]
"lineage-17.1-20200808-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm64_bvN.img" (thats the one i've used but any arm64 GSI of your choice should work)

Flash any arm64 GSI of your choice to system image
Reboot to Recovery
Flash Magisk (optional) (not tested here)
Flash Permissiver v5
Flash GApps (optional) (not tested here)
If you get 'insufficient space' error, first resize System partition.

(see https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-7a/how-to/guide-install-lineage-os-17-x-redmi-7a-t4142305 link in download section)
but then i read somewhere that the boot img also/always is part of the stock image and then i saw that the actual stock image from c. mi. com homepage is V11.0.3.
the second thing that doesn't made sense to me was: does Base (11.0.3 Q FW) mean you only can run Android 10 on it and why are there "higher versions" like Base (11.0.7 P FW) for the older Android P?
but anyway i theoretically had all the files to give it a try.
But i had to flash Stock Rom for many times because i wanted to start from the same starting point so i could find out what step causes the problem
and also to "reset" the boot.img if i had used a patched one
So this was my loop i did everytime to get from some sort of a corrupt status back to "my starting point" = this means unlocked Bootloader, Stock Rom V11.0.3 and recovery installed
[ beginning of loop

List of GSIs I've tried on 11.0.3 64 bit

Evolution X (Camera and Brightness cant adjust)
LOS 17 (Camera)

All i can say is that i tested Camera, Weird cutted corners and Brightness and Screenrecording on LOS 17 based on 11.0.3 64 bit . Everything works so far
PS: Can you please edit your quote so only the lines you refer to getting repeated? thx
does it work with the feature : wireless fm radio?
so you can play sky children of light with this or games 64 bit based?

Teclast T40 Plus Root

Received the tablet in the mail, and now looking to root via Magisk (and ideally a custom recovery like TWRP).
I found this video describing a way to download the stock ROM from Teclast:
Has anyone achieved root on this device? Can anyone confirm Treble ROM compatability for GSI A/B?
On the russian forum 4pda somebody posted the patched boot.img and vbmeta.img files required for rooting.
If anyone is registered on the forum he might try to grab the files, for me it gives 404 error when trying to download, though im not registered..

My guess is it would work if we were logged in, its just that i cant create an account since i cannot get past rhe russian captcha
Yeah, I also can't register without knowing the Russian keyboard layout and how to identify the characters. Perhaps someone with this knowledge can register and attach the required images to root here?
Slightly off topic while someone manages to grab the files from 4pda
Do you actually get 50000+ gpu score in antutu with the t40? I have the maxpad i11 which is in theory the same hardware, and I only get 42000. I even flashed the t40 firmware on the device, but gpu score didnt budge.
To be on topic: if you want root, you may also flash phhuson's treble GSI rom-s. I tried his version of android 12, and it works, and has root.

Yes.
You can either install them via DSU as dual-boot OS beside your stock rom, or just flash system partition (inside super) via fastbootd (you are going to have to delete product partition to have enough space inside super for the system image) and use them as primary OS.
Gotcha:
Just ordered a T40 Plus, did you manage to get root?
Flashing the boot and vbmeta partitions with the images attached to my previous post will grant you root on the stock t40 plus firmware.
I myself moved on to using android 12 gsi images.

Hey,
You need to use the spreadtrum research download tool (RDT), not the one seen in tthe video in the first post.
See this guide on how to use the RDT.
The basic concept is that you need to download the official firmware from the teclast homepage, load it into RDT, uncheck all partitions (save for those that are compulsory and cannot be unchecked), select only boot and vbmeta partitions, and as images to be flashed you need to browse the ones found in the archive I posted, instead of those found in the original firmware package.
Begin flashing, your device will perform a hard reset, and then you should boot into rooted firmware.
Theoretically you should be able to flash both partitions (boot and vbmeta) via fastboot too, but when I tried, i got an error message saying boot.img was too large or something. Flashing via RDT went without problem. The only caveat is that flashing via RDT will always hard reset your device.

First you need to unlock the bootloader. You need to be patient when you are flashing the unlock, my device took some 10 mins to complete, but in the end it succeeded (on the 2nd try, mind you.)
Here is a guide for unlocking in windows, though it is in russian (Im attaching the required modified fastboot in case you cannot download it from 4pda).
When you're done unlocking the bootloader, you've already done the hard part.
Next, download your preferred GSI image from Google, from phhusson's, or whatever else you find (Pixel Experience for eg.). Mind you, that the image from Google contains the Android 12L version.
Next you will flash your active system partition with the GSI image. To do that, initate ADB connection to your tablet, then enter fastbootd, by issuing the command:
fastboot reboot fastboot
you can check your active system slot by:
fastboot getvar all (but it will be slot "a" unless you have received an OTA update previously)
you need to free up some space by deleting the logical partition product otherwise you wont be able to flash your gsi:
fastboot delete-logical-partition product_a
(in case your active slot is "a")
then you can move forward to actually flashing your GSI:
fastboot flash system_a whateverisyourimagefilename.img
Lastly, you will need to wipe userdata, which can be done on the tablet by switching to recovery from fastbootd, and then selecting wipe userdata, or maybe the fastboot -w command does the same.
Reboot, and enjoy your GSI.
I'm using the Google 12L GSI, and it is perfectly stable for daily usage. For bluetooth audio to work, you will have to disable bluetooth a2dp hardware offload in developer options.

I have no idea because I havent tried yet. But I would guess it might be possible that you can flash the patched boot.img along with vbmeta.img with RDT, and it might work, if they do pass Android Verified Boot check.

[GUIDE] How to Root Nokia 4.2

This guide will show you how to root your Nokia 4.2. This has been tested on TA-1157 and is working fine.
**Important** - If fastboot does not recognise your device In step 5, You need to download a driver. Here is the link: Download Driver (by Beebom)
Search up how to install custom driver and install it to the “Android” device.
Requirements:
Nokia 4.2 with unlocked bootloader
USB Cable
ADB/Fastboot.
Python
Your current ROM file
Internet.
Downloads:
ADB Installer (by Snoop05 on xda) : Download
Python : Download
Payload Dumper (vm03 on github): Download ( Click on code and select "download ZIP")
Magisk APK (on your phone) : Download APK ( Scroll down and you will find the APK file)
Code:
** I have only tested this on TA-1157. Other models may not work, but technically they should work.**
** Your warranty is now Void**
Step 1
Enable USB debugging on your phone. If you do not know how to do this, Search it up. It is easy.
Once that's enabled, Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop and open the command prompt (cmd) and type adb devices. It should show your device in the list.
Step 2
Locate the Python folder. To do this, simply type "python" in the start menu and click open file location. Then, Right click on "python.exe" and open properties. Then click open file location.
Once the folder opens, make sure to not close it.
Download the payload dumper.py which I have linked in the downloads section. Extract it and place the contents of the file in the Python folder.
Step 3
Download the ROM file. If you are using lineage OS on your Nokia 4.2, Download that file. If you are using the Stock rom, Download that. It should be a .zip file.
Extract the stuff from that file and take payload.bin and move it to the python folder.
Now, Open cmd in that directory by right clicking and opening cmd. Then, Type the following commands,
Code:
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt
then type,
Code:
python payload_dumper.py payload.bin
Once it is done extracting, Open the "output" folder. There you will find the "boot.img" file
Step 4
Use your USB cable or Google drive to transfer the "boot.img" to your phone. Once you have done that, Download the Magisk APK on your phone and install the app. (APK link in downloads section)
Once you have installed Magisk, open it and click "Install". Select the file from your phone and wait a few minutes for magisk to patch the "boot.img" file.
Once Magisk is finished patching, there will be a new file which magisk has created. Transfer the patched file to your computer via the USB cable or Google drive and make sure to rename it as "magisk_patched.img"
Step 5
You are almost done! Open CMD in the folder where you saved the "magisk_patched.img" and type
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
then type
Code:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
Once done, Reboot your phone and Voila! Your phone is now rooted. Make sure to open the magisk app and check it.
If you need any help or you get any errors, post it down here below.
Also, If this helped you, consider liking the post!

Your sure? because I can't lose my 3 year warranty
Yes, I'm sure don't worry, but if you flash a rom via fastboot, you lose all the data of the phone, do you accept that?

Ok, first you have to unlock the bootloader:
Step 1: Download this file and unzip it. https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=7161016148664849473
Once you have unzipped it, go to the mediatekbootloaderunlock folder and go to the drivers folder, right click on the file "cdc-acm.inf" and then click on install
https://www.technobuzz.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Install-MTK-driver.jpg
Once this is done, go back and install usbdk (x64 for 64 bit OS, x86 for 32 bit OS) on your PC).
https://www.technobuzz.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Instal-USB-drivers-1024x450.jpg
Once this is done, restart your computer (important)
Turn off your redmi 10
In the mediatekbootloaderunlock folder open the "UnlockBootloader.bat" file
Once the file is open, press the volume + and volume - at the same time and once this is done, connect the cable to your PC.
Wait until the window closes.
Your bootloader is now unlocked.
Now that the bootloader of the phone has been unlocked, we will flash the new phone rom.
Step 2: Download the phone rom from this site: https://miuirom.org/phones/redmi-10
(I advise you the Indonesian region)
Once the rom has been downloaded, the rom file ends in .tgz, unzip the rom with WinRAR or any other unzipping tool.
WinRAR
WinRAR - the data compression, encryption and archiving tool for Windows that opens RAR and ZIP files. Compatible with many other file formats.
www.win-rar.com
Once the rom has been decompressed, download Mi Flash tool on this link:
MiFlash20200314
MediaFire is a simple to use free service that lets you put all your photos, documents, music, and video in a single place so you can access them anywhere and share them everywhere.
www.mediafire.com
Unzip the zip file and open the file miflashtool.exe
Once opened, put your phone in fastboot mode (power + volume -)
Connect the phone with a cable to the PC
Click on refresh, the phone should appear.
Then click on select and select the unzipped rom you made earlier.
At the bottom of mi flash tool, click on clean all and lock, this will delete all data and close the bootloader.
Once this is done, click on flash and wait for it to finish.
If you get an error like: checkpoint is not done fastboot lock or something like that, don't worry, it means it worked.
You now have miui 13, enjoy.
