Mobile Network Issue Lineage OS (HELP!) - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

I'm on a pocophone f1 (64gb) running lineage os (android 9) and the latest version of magisk with no problems..... Almost.
I noticed that where I got 4g cell service, I get h+. No 4g (much less lte.)
Instead of saying "oh well" I decided to take to Google and tackle the issue. What I found is that sometimes you need to edit some things in the Mobile Network Options (this was the case on my old phone), well to my dismay I found that clicking on the Mobile Network Options did either of these or both.
-instantly take me back to the main settings screen with a "com.android.phone keeps stopping" message if attempted multiple times,
-stay on the same screen after I click it, the signal strength indicator in the notification bar/status bar will go blank for a couple seconds before redetecting my mobile network provider and go back to its h+ signal.
Please help I don't want to have to reset my phone unless it is the ONLY option, I already reinstalled magisk via twrp, I checked for lineage os updates and restarted my phone several times. I know that the pocophone's cell band works with my provider because I got 4g/lte before I put this custom rom on this.
(I am using Cricket Wireless BTW)
Thanks in advance.

Did you have a resolution that worked? I'm on Cricket in Virginia, US and was curious since I saw how few 4G bands it has.

I had returned to MiUi for a while but after a couple months decided to go back to lineage using the now updated firmware.
I'm still using it and it is working fine, the crashes in the settings were fixed, but I still only get h+ data. I switched preferred networks and in the busiest town near me (Jackson CA) I was able to get a tiny short lived sliver of LTE, before getting no signal at all. So I stuck with H+ because that was the only network I got reception on.
I understand that the pocophone has limited LTE signal in the US, but I used to be able to get 4g on MiUi. I'm planning on upgrading to the Mix 3, but I'd still like to get this resolved for future pocophone users.

Quick Update, I still have my good 'ol poco f1, still with h+ data, but I didnt really notice speed differences from 4g that much, but when I go to folsom, (where I go to college now), I get normal LTE.
I'm switching to a fairly new OS called POSP https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/rom-posp-v3-0-0-alpha-1-beryllium-t3965821 which brings android 10 to the poco f1, will report that later on in a different thread :3

POCO F1 has modified vendor image! if you are using lineage of 7-8-2019 (before it got reported and development stopped) , that version had its own vendor image making 400mb LOS to 700+mb LOS,
having said that!
you still need to flash firmware , use 9.6.27-9
https://mirror.akhilnarang.me/MIUI/beryllium/
now lets say you are on that firmware!
modified vendor creates strange Network issues and com.android.xxxx crashing notifications if YOU EVER HAVE/HAD used USB TETHERING on 3g network!
the modifited vendor dumps 3g log stats on /data/system/netstats which makes network configuration faulty and system UI keeps crashing restarting making mobile data also crash and restart
Perminant solution is NONE
temporary solution
1. avoid usb tethering on 3g
2. whenever such happens, put device on AIRPLAIN MODE and DELETE all the files in /data/system/netstats and REBOOT POCO

Redmi note 3 pro network issues

I've purchased Redmi Note 3 Pro a few days ago. I'm satisfied with overall of the phone but there is one problem I'm facing.
After I quit airplane mode(every night I turns on airplane mode before sleep then turns it off in the morning), my phone won't detect the network most of the time, sometimes it detects the network but it took way too long to happen but still, it acts like there's no network. I couldn't call, sms, receive call, receive sms and use mobile data. Everytime I have to restart my phone to detect the network.
Is there any ways to fix this problem ? It irritates me a lot as I have to restart my phone everyday.
update your phone, this issue has been solved about a month ago
Yeah the new builds are much beter
Hi guys,
I also have network problems on my Note 3 Pro - but without airplane mode. My phone just randomly looses internet connectivity, sometimes completely, sometimes it drops to Edge, most of the times with a warning about roaming and data connectivity. And yet sometimes I completely loose mobile signal but a on/off airplane mode fixes it.
It's pretty irritating, I didn't have these sort of problems with my prev. phone, and I haven't visited any new places or with bad reception.
I'm running the 7.1.8.0 global stable rom.
PS: My locale is missing, and I chose Argentina on random, then disabled auto-time. Could this mess things up ?
Any input would be appreciated.

I am facing a terrible network problem with my phone too. I have used China and Global ROMs and I cannot fix the problem. I am currently using Global 7.1.8.0
My phone does not respond to incoming calls when in sleep mode. Incoming calls go directly to voicemail. It seems that it is connected to the network while in sleep mode. However, it does not respond to the incoming call.
If the phone is awake with the screen on, it shows an incoming call.
I have tested other SIM cards, switching from 3G to 2G, reseting the phone, clearing cache, disabling "do not disturb".... The problem just does not go away. It's a shame that a phone with this much potential has a basic problem like this.

Just tested, mine rings when sleeping. But define sleeping... ? When display is off for a some time ?
I am also suspecting something with the sleep mode, it usually 'switches' to Edge or no connection while in my pocket. I am also suspecting problems with the sim card, have you tried with a new one, or card in another phone ?
Otherwise I really like the phone It brought my trust back in Android.
edit: Update > Download Update and it started downloading, then restarted, installed something, but I'm still on 7.1.8.0 ...
Auto download is ON.

I define the "sleeping mode' as phone with screen off for some time. I tried different SIM cards and from different network companies (3 and Vodafone). Same problem. My network signal is extremely unstable. I like the phone a lot too. However, network signal is something so basic on a phone that it is a shame it does not work properly.
I am also facing similar issues but xiaomi people are not recognizing the issue. They are telling that it's an isolated issue. Please post here, so that they fix this problem.
http://en.miui.com/thread-255747-1-1.html
I got a new sim card, and upgraded my plan, now I have good reception, almost always LTE, sometimes drops to H+. How I miss calls when my phone's display is turned off/sleeping. I'm getting pretty pissed of with Xiaomi about this ****
So annoying
Hope we get the 7.2.2 update soon and it fixes this problem
What good is a phone if it has network issues

Got my phone yesterday and had the same problem this morning. Solved by signing out of my MI account, switching off VoLTE and rebooting. Everything works properly now. Hope this helps.

Forget my previous posts on this issue. Follow these steps as they worked perfectly for me and I had to repeat them this evening since I did a reboot.
1. Keep sim registration on automatic on both sims.
2. Power off phone.
3. Remove sim 1 and keep sim 2 (my sim 2 is 3 Mobile UK roaming. That may make a difference).
4. Power on phone. My roaming sim 2 registers immediately.
5. Power off phone.
6. Insert sim 1 (primary or local sim).
7. Power on and you should have both sims working perfectly.
8. Go to sim settings and change your preferred calls and data back to sim 1 if you need to.
These steps have worked for me twice so far. Hope it helps.
P. S. I must add that I have zero, zilch, nada issues with my Zenfone 2 running the same setup (local sim and uk T-Mobile). Love the Xiaomi so far but detest the lack of native alphabetical for the apps. Considered Nova but the free version doesn't give message counters. Any suggestions?
There is a temporary trick posted at http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=251620&page=1#pid4736228
I was having network problems and it seems to be much better (perhaps solved) with this trick.
I wish to know what this com.qualcomm.qti.supersaver does!

I am glad it helped you. Make sure you type the code *#*#995995#*#* twice after stopping the apk. I actually disabled this apk without any secondary problem.
I am running Global ROM 7.1.8.0. Still waiting for 7.2.2. Let's hope this problem will be fixed in the next update.
Hi,
I'm also facing network issues with 7.1.8.0 : when exiting airplane mode or switching from Wi-Fi to gsm network, I lose data connection. The only way to get data back is to reboot the phone.
Sadly, the trick from miui forum didn't work for me for this particular problem.
Il hope this problem will be fixed in 7.2.2.0 update.
@ mura20 : thanks for the trick nevertheless...
OTA 7.2.3.0 is here!
OTA 7.2.3.0 solved my problem !
Great
I also got the new ota. But how to flash? Twrp returns error 7 when I try to flash
wont u brick your fone if u flash ofw from recovery?
try this in TWRP go to MOUNT there you'll see a option "mount system as read-only" un-check that box and try flashing the rom..
i also have unclocked bootlader will it get bricked if i install it using the update app

LineageOS 14.1 R1_HD-port (NO CAMERA)......

Initial place holder for lineageOS ported rom.
Ported from Vampirefo Life_Max rom
So far same methods to get camera to run on this rom have not worked.
ROM needs bug testing.
so far.
what works.
1. wifi
2. data.
3. gps.
4. microphone.
5. video playback
6. music streaming
NOT working
1. Camera
2. Bluetooth (when paired to BT video plays too fast and sounds like "chipmonk" also same for music- too fast)
work-around is to use mono-bt app. _-It will force stereo BT to play mono , but sound is at correct speed
3. Initial set-up wizzard will crash if you connect to network during set-up. Just skip wifi. I did it without simcard so cant be certain If cell data has same problem.
Of course the more I know the more I will try to update this.
Requirements:
Need to have bootloader unlocked
Need to have TWRP =>Latest TWRP 3.1.1

For the record, GPS is *not* working for me on this current build. Also, setup completes fine over cellular. I also noticed that I am limited to 4G; not connecting to LTE.

I used the "gps test" app the see gps working, the first time connecting sometimes took about 2 minutes while inside. Also but default I see the fps toggle is off.
As for LTE, I'm thinking it's just an icon thing. Because I did a speed test and I'm getting 64M download which is LTE speed not h+ or 4g like it's showing
For lte try this app.

Looks like it displays "4G" for LTE and "H+" for regular 4G. Also, has anyone attempted encryption on this build?

Fwiw, I tried encryption. It appeared to go through the process normally but when the timer got to 00:00 it stayed there for roughly two hours until I decided something had gone wrong and gave up.

I have never heard of anyone wanting to encrypt a custom rom, I have zero zero desire to do it, but if I was going to do it, I would modify the boot.img to encrypt on boot just like stock roms do.

I successfully got the build up and going on my device.
I didn't see the note about not connecting to wi-fi during set up, but it seemed to work fine.
GPS seems to be working (the GPS test app shows 5 in use and maps has a circle around me).
My SD card isn't recognized and won't format. I can't figure out how to trigger it again to get the exact error message.
Have not put my SIM card in so haven't tested that stuff yet.
Edit: A reboot fixed the SD Card issue
I'm on T-Mobile. LTE is doing something weird. LTE Discovery app reports me being on Band 1 (wut?) while SignalCheck Lite reports band 4 (as it should).
Icon says "4G".
Coming over the hills into work today, my data connection quit when it should've had LTE (maybe a band 12 issue?).
OpenCamera just says "failed to open camera. Is camera in use by another application?".
Bluetooth definitely has weird sound. How do I force it into mono?
Haven't made/received any phone calls. Had to update the T-Mobile APN to do MMS and Wi-fi hotspot.
Edit: successfully received a phone call and everything went well.
Another note: My "network" is just a bunch of numbers. This is displayed under the "Mobile data" icon in the notification shade and in the upper left on the notification bar. (I would expect it to say "T-Mobile" or something.)

There is no working camera on this build.
bluetooth mono is an app you can find on play-store or f-droid
do not know about the network name, but I do know I had once used an exposed exploit app to modify that name to what ever I wanted it say. So not too big of a problem, I think.

Camera: no problem, I saw on some of the other ROMs that it was almost working so I thought I would just report what happens to me.
Bluetooth: Cool, I'll just look for an app.
Network name: I thought Xposed wasn't available for Nougat yet. Am I wrong? I'll look around and see if there's a Magisk Module to do the same thing. Not a big deal.
By the way, thanks for your work, I'm using it as my daily driver for now! (Got tired of waiting for a root solution on ZTE Zmax Pro.)
Hi, can I use this ROM in my phone as daily driver?
@overthc I did for a while but then I switched to lineage 13 because the camera works on 13

I am, but I'm okay with the camera not working.
Only issues I've had:
Bluetooth listening to music or videos is borked. Supposedly, getting a mono-bluetooth app will help but I haven't had luck (my car keeps thinking I'm constantly on a call).
When I'm using Reddit Is Fun, some gifs start playing Google Play Music in the background for some reason (could be a problem with RIF).
Network name is shown as "310260" instead of "T-Mobile".
Camera doesn't work (as noted already)
On the positive column, it's been fast and stable. Haven't had any crashes or other problems. I'm super happy with it!

Thanks @codyalan I ´d used it but was killing my battery.. so I back to stock.
Cellular and data have been fine. There was a hiccup when I was driving into work the other day where I lost signal when I shouldn't have. I'm not sure that Band 12 is working (I'm on T-Mobile) but LTE seems to be working fine on Band 2 and 4.
I haven't noticed any problems with the battery consumption. I've been using it for a week or so and it lasts me all day.
I haven't had a single unexpected reboot. I have rebooted it a couple of times, but only because I was tinkering with Bluetooth and I wanted to make sure I was in a fresh state each time.

Mobile Network Issues, apps Not Connecting

Hello guys, I'm having a huge issue with my mobile network.
For the past two weeks I've not been able to make use of my mobile network correctly, it sometimes works, but most of the time doesn't. The icon in my status bar shows there is activity, it's fully connected to 3G or LTE, even with full bars. But all my apps like Telegram, Pokémon go, Messenger and the likes are stuck "reconnecting" to the network, as if my phone doesn't have any reception at all. At some points even SMS messages refuse to send, even though I've got full reception.
I've already gotten my SIM card switched out, attempted multiple clean flashes and the issue still persists.
Phone: Oneplus One
My current firmware: 0.1.c1.11-00006-M8974AAAAANAZM-1
Current ROM: idprophecy's unofficial optimized lineage-14.1-20180413-UNOFFICIAL-bacon
Current Recovery: Kutep0v TWRP 3.2.1-K2
Is there anything I can do? I'm getting really desperate.
This is my last plead on this forum, as I haven't had any response from anyone since april 25th, I've got nothing else to do but wait. Can't find anything on the internet about this issue, you're my last hope.
Have you tried flashing to stock version?

Losing mobile data connection randomly on MIUI 11 EU Android 10

So i have a clean flashed EU ROM and i randomly lose mobile data connection (4G) for a few seconds and it then comes back. I don't lose the mobile network, but the 4G data sign just vanishes and then comes back again in a flash. This is really annoying especially while playing online games where 1 sec of internet disconnection is the difference between a win and a loss.
I'm on MIUI 11 EU ANDROID 10.

I too dirty flashed the ROM again and it worked without any problems for sometime and then out of nowhere it started to do this again. I hope it doesn't affect you as well but it looks like it most probably will. :crying:
Might be this will be helpful. What I noticed in Stock Miui 11.0.4 when the wifi calling is ON then I noticed call drops. So I have turned off the wifi calling and using the VOLTE only and everything is fine. I think wifi calling technology is not yet stable enough to use. We need to wait for some more. So you may try this thing. Turn off wifi Calling and set data roaming to always and see if it fix the problem.
Experiencing something similar mobile data is gone

So you may try this thing. Turn off wifi Calling and set data roaming to always and see if it fix the problem.

I did that on the first boot but to no Vail. Currently I downloaded the latest vendor from akhilnarang's website to see if it is a vendor problem. Everything I tried before has done nothing.

Are you on EU version like me or the stock global ?
I received the update last week on stock rom in EU. Since then severe problems with mobile data, it only works in cities where 4G+ is available. 4G, 3G and E don't work at all or only rarely.
Does someone have a solution to that? BTW also my camera is broken since the update. After every picture it says "processing HDR+" forever (even showing a notification for that that never disappears). My proximity sensor also has some problems... Never change a running system I guess.

There doesn't seem to be any fix (none that I know of until now). Till now I tried reflashing the ROM, installing the akhilnarang vendor and now I'm testing LTE band locking using network signal guru.
It might just be a placebo effect, but I think flashing the vendor somewhat reduced the problems with mobile data. You should give it a try and give feedback here.
Is it possible to downgrade again by a dirty flash?

I wouldn't recommend dirty flashing Android 9 ROMs over 10. Yo should clean flash.

Well great now I noticed I cannot even connect my phone to the computer, because it says "failed to get information from usb device" in the device manager. Tried installing and uninstallting several ADB drivers and the MI Pc Suite but nothing fixes the problem. Guess I can throw the phone out of the window now.
BTW: Is there no ****ing official website with usb drivers? All I get are websites like "xiaomidriverdownload.com" or "androidusbdrivers.com" or "flashxiaomi.com" wtf is this.

And one question, do you use any VPN ?
Disable "Xiaomi Framework Service"
Same issue for me on a Xiaomi Mi9 Lite with xiaomi.eu rom.
After lots of workarounds tried I finally discovered the cause : "Xiaomi Service Framework".
It's a system app that resets mobile data connection when it detects or thinks there's no internet connection.
I use an intranet apn to connect to my company network, so my phone is not connected to internet when the apn is active and it was really annoying to have those data connection drops.
As I'm not using any Xiaomi Service (mi cloud and others) and my phone is rooted, the solution for me was to disable the app and problem solved!
Good luck

So i have a clean flashed EU ROM and i randomly lose mobile data connection (4G) for a few seconds and it then comes back. I don't lose the mobile network, but the 4G data sign just vanishes and then comes back again in a flash. This is really annoying especially while playing online games where 1 sec of internet disconnection is the difference between a win and a loss.
I'm on MIUI 11 EU ANDROID 10.

Hi there!
İve stumbled upon you post. Right now i have xiaomi Mi 9 with stock MİUİ 12.0.3
Since this update İ notice Losing mobile data connection randomly.
i randomly lose mobile data connection (4G) for a few seconds and it then comes back. the 4G data sign along antenna sign just vanishes (greys out) and then comes back again in a second.
İ suppose its very similar to your case. İts getting very frustrating
Have you by any chance got any workaround ?

Question Mobile data not working in Canada (Rogers)

I tried to changed APN manually to rogers but still data does not work, only call and text works. Is there a solution to this? I believe i got Pro 2 (cn with global rom installed)
I had the same issue, below is the APN setting on Rogers website, I've found that if you make the following changes, it will connect to 4G data (until you restart your device)APN Type: replace "internet + mms" with "*"
MVNO: ROGERS
MVNO type: SPN
This will get you connected.
However, I ran into another problem after configuring the network this way. After restarting the device, the phone can no longer detect the SIM card, and has an error message prompting restart).
This is my problem after restarting:
Comparing with other phones, the auto detected APN Type is typically "default", but entering default will cause the connection issue right away. The "*" will allow you to run until device reboot.
I too would like help on how to resolve this. Seems more software than hardware problem since it only fails after boot.

I just tried your method looks like it works and as you said it doesn't work after reboot. However when I did "Network setting reset," I was able to connect to 4g again (but resets wifi passwords too). Hopefully there's a solution...
I noticed that this problem only happens if there is a SAVED wifi network WHEN the device BOOT up.
I did a factory reset, then enter the APN manually. I was able to connect to stable network.
I did a system restart, no issue. The phone reconnects to the network automatically after booting.
I connect to a wifi network. The phone still works fine.
I restart the device again, the problem comes back.
If I take out the SIM and only use the Wifi, the phone is also okay.
The only time when it doesn't work is when I have both, which is the normal use case.
Something is happening in the firmware between the wifi and the SIM during the boot sequence.
This problem exists on my Lenovo L70081, Legion Phone Duel 2 Pro, running OS 12.5.188 ST, updated using Rescue and Smart Assistant v5.8.0.25
Any help would be appreciated.

Im on the same OS version 12.5.188ST, my phone connected to data absolutely fine with no problems but after every few hours stop making or receiving calls. I did the following and its fine for some time now but I'm not sure whether this will work with every phone but no harm in trying :
settings.....cellular network and sim.....5G mode. By default (at least in my phone) it is on NSA, I first switched to NSA+SA but to no avail, than I switched to SA and vola problem solved, all incoming outgoing calls working bang on but I think now my phone doesn't go on 5g which is still not good but at least making calls as normal. Now, as I said, this procedure might not work for everyone but try it, cheers.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately setting the 5G setting didn’t help. I also tried disabling 5G but I still have the issue.
Was your OS able to read the APN from your SIM or did you have to enter the APN manually also?

I didn't mess about with apn, as I said in my earlier post I had no problems using data its always connected but I had problems with making and receiving calls, cheers
There's currently two ROM available on Rescue and Smart Assistant:
L70081_ROW_SECURE_USER_Q00017.0_R_ROW_12.5.188_ST_210819_qpst
L70081_EE_SECURE_USER_Q00017.0_R_ROW_12.5.137_ST_210710_sec_qpst
What's the difference between ROW and EE rom?
Which would work best in Canada and US?
is ROW only updated in Asia and Pacific?
i sort of had this same problem with Tmobile. it would only connect to 3g . if i connected to the 4g or 5g network i lost everything . i was able to fix it using my ROOTED phone and an app in the playstore called network guru. I used that to turn off majority of the network bands and only left the ones listed for the phone. My service was immediately fixed and havent had any trouble since

I know how ya feel, I pestered TMobile for 2 weeks and they were no help. They kept trying to push me off to Lenovo who was absolutely no help at all. Id go thru their website which connects you to Motorola. Then they would tell me they don't support the phone because it's Lenovo and give me a link to follow. Id follow that link which led me right back to Motorola lmfao.
After 4-5 times of going thru that nonsense I finally got someone who knew what they were doing. They told me because this phone was never released in the US I need to go thru their European server for assistance. Screw that, I did some more research and got the idea of trying this from some ancient post I found on xda lol.
It's actually very easy as long as your phone is rooted. download the app, click the 3 dots and go into force control. Then adjust the carrier bands so only the ones supported by the phone are selected. Then reboot your phone and it should kick over to a working signal . If not ya might have to monkey around in the service menu using the dial code *#*#4636#*#*
Here's a few screenshots to give ya an idea and a link to a website with all the bands listed. https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/US/lenovo-legion-2-pro
