Brand new X821 - clicking focus on custom ROM - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone, apologies in case I created any duplicate, but couldn't find quite what I was looking for.
I just got a new X821 and want to install a custom ROM on it, I went with official LOS15.1 and then Pie-based RevengeOS.
However, on both I had an unusable camera. Autofocus wouldn't work and whenever the camera seemingly tried to focus, it would produce rather loud clicking and buzzing noises. I reverted to stock in both cases and the issue is not present there.
Am I missing something?
Thank you so much in advance!

I had the same problem. AospExtended ROM V6.0 [X2] was the solution. Everything works.

I have the same problem, I was normal in EUI, I run two roms, and it was exactly like this. losing focus and making noise.

Having the same issue with resurrection remix Oreo and the suggested AOSPExtended rom.

After installing rom I wiped made a factory reset and that did the job.

In Revenge os go to Le eco extras and tick on autofocus fix
After that reboot device and install Google camera from talyon009
It should work if not try other gcam mods

Solution is very easy, and almost every rom from Nougat support it, go to settings -> about device -> leeco extrass -> turn on or off focus switch

Not easy for everone, unfortunately, in my case turning on focus switch does nothing. Focus still not working. This is on X821 with 30s firmware and ROS Pasta 2.2 20190106-1129. BTW sound quality during phone call is bad too: Echos and noises. On my other X821 with same installation, focus is ok, but sound is equally bad.

In LineageOS 15.1, you need to go Settings/System/Camera Settings and tick 'Camera Focus Fix' - and then it works very nicely, at least in my case. Hope it helps.

Smart Lock

Hi all,
Has anyone managed to get smart lock to work? When selecting it from the menu it just asks for the lock pattern and does nothing. Connecting a BT device does prompt for setting it as an trusted device, but doing so doesn't seem to have any effect.

Same problem here, now at Cuoco92. On the Chinese 14S ROM I saw maybe 2-3 times the Smart Lock menu opened after entering the password, but I didn't manage to nail down conditions in which it happened and it would never open again. So at least we know it will open in some configurations.
I'm also using Cuoco92. Had the same problem on 14s and also on 13 with which the phone came. Seems like an EUI bug all the way.

Just did a brief test and smart lock settings do open on 5.18 Dev, so hopefully it is getting fixed in this release.
Yep, me too, it doesn't work in my phone.
So anyone tried Smart Lock on 5.8 series ROM? I tried on Cuoco92 5.8 and I can access Smart Lock settings. It seemed to work for a while, but doesn't anymore and I have no idea how to make it work again. I tried TeamSpain 5.8 as well, but I couldn't access Smart Lock settings at all (just opens an empty list).
On stock 5.8, the menu can be opened, I can add devices, but no effect at all !!! it ask for password or pattern each time.

I just tried on Samsung S7 and it is clear that Smart Lock is inactive by Administrator. for that is as I have corporate email.......sad...
I'm currently running a trial of Smart Unlock Universal and it seems to provide most of the missing functionality. Note that this is a paid app, but I think there are some free ones out there. I haven't found a free one with BT support though.

I am not sure what Smart Lock is supposed to do, but if it is to remember pairings with other BT devices, then it works for me.
On the indian Version Rom it works properly for me so far.

Thanks, indeed it finally works! Unlike various apps, it also works correctly with a BLE device, so I can use Mi Band to unlock.

No, it allows to unlock the phone without asking for password or pattern if a registered trusted BT device is connected.
Just installed the latest Cuoco92 release. So even though trusted devices and trusted locations can be defined, they do not seem to really unlock the device. Can anyone confirm?

I never got it to work on Cuoco92. It works flawlessly on the stock Indian ROM 15s and 16s however.
Thanks mjoach.
What would be the right way to move from cuoco92 to the Indian ROM? Should I do a clean install, or can I just "update" to the Indian zip?

Probably best idea to do a clean install and restore your apps from backup (e.g. made with Titanium Backup).
Did a wipe and installed. Great ROM so far. Had some trouble rooting, as also discussed on the 15s thread, but eventually succeeded even without formatting the data partition.

So far everything seems to be working - here is what i have tested:
- Wifi Works - really good speed
- Call is clear - had 2hr phone call with multiple people
- Data is good
- Tethering works
- Batterylife is ok so far - Android system is draining a bit more than I'd like it to
- Titanium will occasionally force close but not sure if that's TB fault or ROM
-Fingerprint works
- It is really quick - I mean really quick!
Here is where I had some trouble:
- During the setup wizard the phone would want to restore from another phone without the option of setting up fresh. The way
I went around it is to turn off data and wifi and skip that part and just continue and then set up all the accounts once I was on the launcher.
Not sure if anybody else has had the same issue.
Finally no CM Themes - but we all know about that

don't know why there isn't an official thread from cm...
Do not flash any custom kernel... Do not flash any pixel zips as it will bootloop..... First boot might seem to be bootlooping but a restart after the lag in boot animation seemed to fix the problem.

Theres a ton of reasons for that, but eventually a maintainer usually opens up a thread on the first days of releases.
We do have an unofficial release thread but, I guess some maintainer might eventually show up and post it

waiting for the custom roms to update !
i didnt know that they were waiting for official cm tree?
do the devs. actually use the CM official build sources to build their custom roms? (sorry noobish question.)
edit: i shall wait until they implement the cm theme engine .
It's been a few years since I ran CM. Question one, is SU included or does it get flashed in addition, two, what vendor ( I assume 10C from 7.1.1) or is that included as well?
Thanks.

The Themes option is currently unavailable but I am sure it will be added to upcoming builds.
I don't think there is a ROM out (CM14.1) that has it implemented as CM have only just released official nightlies
CM14 build is very solid. Battery life isn't the best but it's very fluid.

Oh I was worried. Theming and root are the two options that I miss from my 7.1.1. Next week I will try the ROM. I'm a little concerned about the battery drain but I hope that it will be better than stock 7.0.
Anyone tried adaway on this ROM yet? I tried with and without systemless root .zip it fails each time.

Weird, I'm using the rom now since two days and haven't got any restarts yet and haven't noticed anything wrong with the fingerprint.
The only thing I can confirm is the camera quality, for me it's ok as I don't use the camera that much anyway.
No restarts here either. Been using for two days. Works nice. Camera quality is not great but it is fast to take a picture. Fingerprint sensor doesnt work at all for me
Edit: finger print does work just buggy.
does this rom work with the dual sim version ?
Anybody tried flashing clean DRM-fix kernel to fix the camera issue?
Camera does not suck, the reason the photos. Were blurry was because the stock gallery app takes alot of time to render the image. Here's a sample image that I took.
I think this is a good ROM but I won't be using it for now since I don't want to do a full reset of my phone.
UPDATE: video recording does not work.
What if one would use a custom camera app would that help with the quality or do they all require some sort of proprietary components? I'm not talking about SteadyShot...etc, just good overall picture results using 3rd party apps on 3rd party ROMs.
so can someone make a thread about how to install the rom? I am a newbie on fastboot locked phones

Follow this link :
This is for Xperia M but this should also work for Xperia x except that you have to take DRM backup before you unlock bootloader.
Fingerprint worked for me initially.
But after adding a second fingerprint, fingerprint-unlock stopped working. Also deleting fingerprints from the settings does not work anymore. Adding new fingerprints also fails now..
Has anyone made the same observation? Possible fix?

[update] OnePlus Camera App 2.4.17 ( 3rd Nov 2017 )

A few days back a new version of the app was released on app mirror.
There is no official statement whether this update is for which one of the device but I've found out that it works perfectly on OnePlus 3/3T/5. Just on the 3/3T a few things that OnePlus 5 has are not present due to hardware limitations.
This update has- A complete UI overhaul ( much intuitive according to me ) and a little quality improvement as reported by few people.

Thanks a lot, I'm really surprised this works perfectly.
I did notice that in landscape if you pull up the menu, 2 of the options are cut off though.
Works wonderfully, excellent on the 3T with Android O. Only 2 issues I have are the landscape menu 2-options cut-off that the-blind-bandit noticed and also the pictures taken that show at the bottom-right when clicked on do not open Google Photos (I don't have the OnePlus Gallery installed) and so it just says No Photos when I click on that. The pics are still taken / saved and can be opened in Google Photos later. Minor annoyance, not usage-breaking.

Since it's not in the not working list but also not in the working list I'll ask even though I basically know the answer already.
Is VoLTE/WiFi or IMS services working on 17.1? It's quite literally the only reason I'm still on stock based as in the office building I work there's limited 3G reception and I usually rely on VoWiFi.
I wonder if VpFX is working with this rom, anybody tried viper?

Ok, I found a bug: it isn't possible to hide navbar and notification bar. If xou select this option, the app lineageos setup crashed. Extended desktop doesn't work.
Btw. Is it possible to get dark theming for telefon, messager, contacts app? Maybe a other theming engine like substratum or hexinstaller?

1 - seems to be an issue with lineage at the moment as far as we can tell. (aswell as a few other bugs in their trees at the moment)
2+3 - works fine for me and all the other n9/s9/s9+ users of this rom on telegram, mailbox set the correct number by default for me and i can edit it aswell just tried, loudspeaker/bluetooth speaker is working fine for calling.
Feel free to share logcat if possible, would be interesting to see what has broken it on your setup and not for anyone else, thanks
edit -
just saw you edited your post and removed 2+3, glad you got it sorted.

Seems pretty sweet but Android Auto is kind of important. You think a fix is possible?
Why is it not mentioned in the instructions that Flashable_G96XF_Firmware_TWRP_DTAD_r2.zip is needed to be able to boot? Without it, a boot loop occurs.
Also, "Hey Google" isn't working properly. It turns itself off after enabling it. I used Open GApps nano. Someone got it working?

IDK if flashing the DTB4 BL instead of DTAA could've been the reason I wasn't able to boot earlier without flashing the firmware zip.
I'd rather not and discuss it here. When I toggle the "Hey Google" switch on, go back a page to Assistant settings and go back to Assistant Devices > Phone again, the switch is turned off. Even during the time the switch stays on if I stay on the page, Hey Google can't be triggered.
