V10.0.13.0.OEARUFH to V10.1.1.0.PEAMIFI - Xiaomi Mi 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi I am on V10.0.13.0.OEARUFH with unlocked bootloader (was unlocked when I bought it). How to switch to V10.1.1.0.PEAMIFI with out brick?

It came by OTA.

I am on miui 10.0.3.0 and with twrp and rooted with magisk. /unlocked bootlooder of course/
Just got ota update to 10.1.1.0
Phone is global , roms are official from xiaomi.
Rooting was a pain in the a** so I really dont want to mess it up about this encrypted issues…
Just wonder how safe it could be…

So no information how to switch to global from Russia?

I am not updating atm. Still waiting. Reviews are mixed about pie update and to be honest I have no issue with mine.
As first step I should update magisk to v18 but again I am a bit scared

my phone came with the same version, I think it's some international rom / or modified Chinese version they install, ota didn't show 7.3.7.0 as an update (as it should) so I just manually flashed it, factory reset + using fastboot firmware to make sure I got a 100% clean install.

tnx for your answer.
is their any difference between 7.3.6.0.0 and 7.3.7.0 (performance, battery life, new options...) or it's pretty similar?

Both the same as far as i could tell battery life is very good, though i only used 7.3.6 for about a two days, i was planing on clean flashing it anyways since i don't trust anyone messing with my phone (who knows what the seller installed in it , plus i wasn't sure what firmware they are using if it would ever get ota updates....
Now i am running the developer beta version miui8 which is good too (6.8.11)

Got MIUI 8 OTA Update!!
I got the MIUI v8.0.1.0 update. I am on MIUI Global Stable v7.3.2.0(LHOMIDD) with unofficially unlocked bootloader and rooted. I don't know why the OTA is a Nightly version though!
But I am not going to update now.... eagerly waiting for a pre-rooted MIUI8 rom which could be dirty flashed through TWRP...!

Downgrade Moto Z Android 7.0 To 6.0

Hi, got this phone for 1 month now used MM for 2 weeks then updated to Nougat but I didnt like it. Now I want to downgrade to MM is it possible with RSD Lite? If yes how? If no will factory reset solve battery drain, awfull notifications, over heating problems?
How did you upgrade? If you updated the bootloader to the N version, I'm not sure if you can revert back to MM.
OTAs are the Evil. :silly:
Updated via OTA. I could downgrade Samsung S4 isnt it possible with Moto Z? I did hard reset, downloaded my apps then closed my phone and charged it. I don't know what happened while phone was booting but it wasn't %100 battery charge btw. This battery life is killing me..
I'm sure you are not able to get back to Marshmallow because the OTA installs a new bootloader that is incompatible with the original Marshmallow

So I have to wait for fix eh
Which version did you apply?
If you updated to Nougat via OTA, there is currently no safe and simple way to downgrade back to Marshmallow as the OTA also updates the bootloader, meaning that Nougat is the oldest OS that is supported on that bootloader.
That's why I unlocked the bootloader on mine and used the technique outlined in the following thread. Not only do you get a perfectly working Nougat OS but also allows you to keep the old bootloader should you decide to downgrade to Marshmallow.

Ah, I was hoping you had the first release of N. But it looks like you have the current one.
If someone reveals easy and safe way to downgrade please tag me I don't have much time to check forums
Nougat upgrade OTA leaves you in a tough position
My new Moto Z took an update from stock MM to Nougat 3 days after I got it. Stupid me, I should not have accepted the OTA update. But I did. And you cannot go back to MM because the update contains a new bootloader that makes it a one way trip.
Search my other posts in the last few days to see that you are not totally prevented from unlocking and rooting. But unlocking the bootloader leaves a trail forever because a solid state fuse gets tripped forever.

I did not downgrade from 7.0.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone with twrp 3.xx and then used phh's Superuser.
But I must admit that I have not loaded a third party ROM yet. I want to load stock 7.1.1 when Motorola releases it in February or March.
Question would it be possible to use RDS light or the program at the beginning of this form to unlock set bootloader and then proceed to route

Same problem here.
Anyone know a solution to this ??
I would like to try beta but i must be sure that i can go back to stable if needed.
Maybe Oreo stable 10.0.2.0 or 10.0.3.0 works through updater??
Anyway what is Xiaomi thinking about this?? That if you go BETA you will stay BETA forever??? There must be a way to go back to stable !! wtf!!

Well I tried 10.0.2.0 through the updater but it says it is different Android version, I guess 10.0.3.0 would give the same error. I even tried 10.1.1.0 but that gives an error as well which says this: "You're allow to flash the newest stable version published by MIUI forum from deveolp version only." Maybe when it appears on official Miui website for downloading it will work but if not, I am not sure how I will go back. Another thing that could work is waiting for newer stable which will be more up to date than the beta I am currently on and then trying to use updater with it.
it' s diffucult, i have see the rom have no roll back so we can flash fast boot rom 10.0.2 by mi flash, but i a m not sure...
Yes seems difficult!
Btw why do you guys wanna roll back? Something wrong, with the beta?

It's pretty ****ed up.. yesterday I decided I won't wait so I applied for unlocking bootloader. This will take 360 hours and after that I can unlock it and flash whatever I can, I checked for anti roll back and there should be no problem going from 8.12.13 to 10.0.2.0 so if I don't find any solution, I will unlock the bootloader, flash stable and relock it.
I Will do the same... Let me now if you have succes
GUYS I HAVE GOOD NEWS!! 10.1.1.0 just got released on Miui official website and we are allowed to use updater to flash it now! Just go to https://en.miui.com/getrom-346.html and download 10.1.1.0, then use the built-in updater to choose update package and you are good to go.
Thanks you! It works very well !?

Hello.
As I understood, you have the latest developer rom for mi8 global version, locked bootloader? What version is it?
I have the same phone with 10.1.1.0 pie stable, received OTA.
Why do you want to change? Are there any bugs? Except google pay? How's battery life?
Thanks

Exactly, I've got 8.12.20 global beta. Not a big issue with the beta maybe a bit less battery. About half an hour according to my usage in comparison with the stable. It's annoying though. You should be able to switch from stable to beta and vice versa at any given time.

Should I upgrade to Pie?

Currently using firmware 47.1.A.12.270 with root+drm fix. I'm considering to upgrade my phone to Pie but i'm unsure about its stability. I wanna hear how stable is Pie and is it good to upgrade?

Since you are already rooted - you could (probably) downgrade... although I am not able to find official firmware for OREO.
My device is 0FCE:01F3 (seems that there is a different version of Sony Xperia XZ1 with id 0FCE:B00B).
I guess that you have nothing against unlocking the bootloader
So in other words: you could try upgrading and see (although way back might be difficult).
As for me... I have accepted the upgrade and I regret that.
Android 9 Pie blocks one feature that is mandatory for me: call recording is no longer possible.
There should be some gesture navigation - it is not present in pie on xz1.
Except that... you should be going into a better direction. I am not sure about root availability for xz1... shouldn't be a problem I guess?
P.S.
I bought this phone only because my previous (it was gt-n910c) had some HW issues with calls. I wanted a phone with NFC and my assumption was I won't root it (to use banking apps without magisk). Now it seems that my calls are flawed and I might need to use magisk+root... and I am not able to physically remove bloatware (especially spyware called fatbook or something like that). Shame on google, Shame on sony.
As your bl is already unlocked download Xperia firm and see if Pie is available in your region, if so download Newflasher (read how to use it), there is a root guide posted here for Pie.

i messed up. im stuck on fastboot (bootloader) mode. everytime i choose recovery mode or start, it vibrates and restarts 4 or 5 times only upto the S logo, before going back to fastboot mode again.
"fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-blackshark.img" didnt work for me. it just starts my phone normally. so i tried "fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.3-0-blackshark.img" and got error.
need help pls.
edit: im still reading the whole thread and learning of flashing my bs from skr-a0 to skr-h0. i hope ill succeed from the files and procedures im getting at this link: youtube.com/watch?v=ywC_9Hrpb_I
edit2: was successful in flashing to skr-h0 using flash_all.bat (not brick anymore yay! it gave me the chills really.) sending "fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-blackshark.img" command also now loads me to twrp (thank heavens) but i need to system update OTA first before trying to root again. will update soon.
edit3: now enjoying root on android 8.1... found the hard way that twrp-3.2.3-0-blackshark.img is not for android 9 and wont boot to twrp. probably flashed back to 8.1 for like 5 times more or less. hope maurino or someone else will make and release twrp-3.2.3-1-blackshark.img soon. thanks again for this wonderful thread.
btw: i originally wanted skr-a0 but i cant seem to download the link in the youtube video. file is corrupted. is it just me? i tried on 3 different workstations to no avail.
