HELP: Xiaomi MI 8 cant boot into OS after ROM flash - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I'm in deep trouble and not sure if there's anything I can do to save my new Xiaomi MI 8. :crying::crying:
It's bootloader was unlocked.
I flashed TWRP and used it to flash the MIUI 10 global version.
After flashing the ROM it doesn't boot to OS but goes into MI recovery. It has three options, Reboot, Wipe Data and Connect with MIAssistant.
I can't connect with MIAssistant, doesn't get recognized - I guess it needs a previous setup for MIAssistant from within the OS.
I can fire up the fastboot.
What can I do? How can I try to flash the ROM with an OS again? Is it possible using fastboot?
THANK YOU!
LK

Phone boots into Cyanogenmod Recovery, won't startup

Dear Xiaomi users,
I have a Xiaomi redmi note 3 pro and I'm using Cyanogenmod from the beginning.
However last night I received a Nightly Update. My phone installed the update and was rebooting.
After the reboot Cyaogenmod Recovery was starting and my phone won't startup again.
How can I check if my phone is broken?
How can I reïnstall TWRP, so I can do a fresh installation of the OS?
The only thing I can enter is: Cyanogenmod Recovery and Fastboot.
Even when I apply an update in Recovery, my phone don't want to boot to the OS.
I'm using this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom-cyanogenmod-14-0-t3461068
go to fastboot mode and flash TWRP again. Then try flashing the ROM again.

Help please : bad flash boot instead of recovery

Hi,
My phone : Redme Note 4 Global Edition 3/32 unlocked and rom developper.
My problem : I wanted to put TWRP and I did a MEGA bull****.
To install TWRP I did:
Fastboot flash boot recovery.img
instead of :
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
My phone starts systematically on TWRP... (It boots no more normally)
I have shot tempted one:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
With the boot.img retrieved from the MIUI 9 archive 7.8.10 (mido_global_images_7.8.10_20170810.0000.00_7.0_global_239182c21e.tgz)
Now the phone shows me the logo miui indefinitely.
I still have access to Fastboot
Is it necessary to try with the boot.img of version MIUI 9 7.8.18 (installed version)? Can someone provide it to me?
If not, can anyone help me restore the boot without losing any facilities made?
Thank you in advance.
Regards
Hi,
Well I finally made a MiFlash with the option "flash_all_except_storage.bat" on the same flashboot ROM that was previously installed in my phone before my error. (MIUI 9 7.8.18).
The phone is OK.
I did not clean it : I hope it will not bug.
Regards.
When you've flashed TWRP when MIUI is installed you need to install lazyflasher with recovery. Without it MIUI will not boot with TWRP

Kenzo Redmi Note 3 Booted device without OS installed. Need help!

I have been using custom ROM - Nitrogen OS for some months with no major issues. I decided to try Pixel Experience today and downloaded the ROM file.
In the process, I rebooted the device without having OS installed accidentally. I am able to go to FASTBOOT mode, but not able to install any OS. cmd - "fastboot flashing unlock" failed because the bootloaded is locked. How can I flash the twrp and boot it in recovery. Please help

I have officially unlocked the phone an year back. I used 3 ROMs between and settled up in Nitrogen for many months. I wanted to try pixel experience. I am yet to move the pixel experience zip to phone. I wiped out system and all user data using TWRP recovery. I am supposed to move the new ROM's zip to phone, install using TWRP and then reboot the device. But what I did was I wiped the system and booted without having any OS installed. I tried unlocking the bootloader in cmd prompt, but not working. So cant install new OS
Now i can not install any rom because the bootloader locked. I can not use the phone either as there is no OS. Force restarting the phone by long press power button stucks me in Mi logo.
Now what all i can do is have the screen on with either FASTBOOT or with Mi logo. Any miracle is possible only through cmd prompt. Have any help?

How to put in edl mode
See below

Thank you Black_Stark, it worked. Its very simple.
Note, the flashing worked only while the edl screen was open. I have tried flashing initial few attempts after closing the edl screen, which resulted error in mi flash tool.
Update: The phone booted good, however it is not detecting my sims and wifi not connecting. Any fix?

Help me i bricked my phone

my redmi note 4 mido is bricked and i don't know how, i left my phone for a month because i travelled away and when i came back the phone was stuck on mi logo i tried to fix it by this methods but nothing worked:
-i tried to flash stock firmware via mi flash tool and it failed so many times (i used an old version which stated that the installation succeed but the phone was still stuck in bootloop)
- i tried edl version and it didn't work
- i tried to install via adb and it didn't work also
- i tried to open recovery (volume + and power) it got me to twrp 3.2.3.0 but it's alway stuck on twrp logo and nothing happens
it only happened 2 times when twrp worked and asked me for decryption password, i wrote my phone pin but said wrong password (tried also password and default_password) then i bypassed the password section and got into twrp but i couldn't mount or format storage (it appears that internal storage and sd card is 0 gb) i tried to format it fails,
tried also to change storage to ext2 it got stuck and i couldn't open the twrp again.
any stock firmware flashed on my mido doesn't work and it still stuck on mi logo ( no android loading logo), and it still has twrp
(i tried to flash another twrp or orangefox it just doesn't flash even if it's successful flash on adb)
i tried also to boot the recovery image it also get stuck on the logo and doesn't open the recovery
please help me to know what the hell is wrong with this phone and how i can fix it
help pleassseeeeeeee
Install magisk if you are stuck in boot loop it fixes the problem otherwise download a recovery rom and change your twrp version to 3.1.0.0 because the decryption password in the new versions of twrp doesn't seem to work on rn4. Now wipe system, vendor, data. import recovery rom from your computer and install it. It will install the rom then flash Magisk otherwise your phone will be stuck in bootloop. Wait for a while and bam your system is back!
i can't install anything or even boot into twrp 3.1.0.0 even if i tried
Can you boot into fastboot atleast? If yes then type fastboot reboot recovery and as you said you have twrp installed then it surely means that your bootloader is unlocked. Do you know the name of your custom rom or are you using stock rom? If yes whichever rom you are using just download the recovery rom of that and extract the boot.img in your adb and fastboot folder and flash it via fastboot by typing fastboot flash boot boot.img . And also when booting in twrp which buttons are you using? This happened to me when I myself bricked my device. I thought I can't boot in twrp but the point was I was using volume up+ power but the actual key to boot to twrp is volume up+volume down+power key
You can flash your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 [MIDO] using Mi Flash. I have an article that discusses how to flash Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 [MIDO / Snapdragon] that might help you: How to Flash Redmi Note 4 / 4x Snapdragon [Mido] with MiFlash

I think flashing the stock rom should be the last step before which everything possible should be tried

Yes, Flashing Stock ROM should be the last step before he tries to fix. But mostly if the smartphone is bootlooped or bricked there is no other step besides Erase All Data / Format Data or Flashing Stock ROM.

You can flash orignal boot.img which most times fixes the problem and if it didnt work flash system.img it almost always works and the last option is flashing magisk. Then only i will recommend to flash stock rom.

the rom i was using before the phone got bricked is crdroid 10, i downloaded it again as you said and tried to flash boot img then i rebooted into recovery but i got stuck at twrp logo as usual and even if twrp worked it will as for a password i tried all pins i have used on my phone and tried default_password didn't work either, i can't even mount data or storage or anything and it shows everything with 0mb storage (external or internal storage).
i can't even format data to remove encryption it just freezes whenever i do that

i tried that before it's always shows me ( mi flash tool could not find a part of the path) error, there's a one time i tried an older version of mi flash tool and the flash succeeded but when phone rebooted it stayed at the bootloop
i checked the recovery and sadly it was still the same twrp recovery
i don't really know if my phone can be fixed or this an emmc problem
So it means you have your stock rom right? Extract boot.img and flash it with
fastboot flash boot boot.img
make sure to put it in adb folder
You can find boot.img in images folder
If it does not work get the system.img and flash it with
fastboot flash system system.img
i flash the whole stock rom via fastboot (adb) and it also didn't work.
sorry if this seems disappointing
Try orangefox recovery then, not sure why is this happening to you
If still not working type
fastboot oem edl
Then flash via mi flash it should work as far as I know. If not then go to mi service centre it's the last thing you can do

Question Redmi Note 10 stuck at fastboot

I accidently sent some zip file instead of img file using adb flash boot command, now my phone is stuck at fastboot, doesn't reboot to normal, always reboots to fastboot, I have flashed twrp recovery and wiped all data, still doesn't work, what shall i do?

XiaoMiTool V2 is a easy to use tool to install rom on your Xiaomi device. Modding made easy for everyone! Download it for free now!
www.xiaomitool.com
Did you then fastboot install the stock boot.img?
hmm. i remember flasing the wrong stuff but I don't know if it was this phone. flash stock from using miflashtool
Hi @niyaalo welcome to the forum! That's a nice device you've got.
Just run the flash_all_except_storage.sh (or .bat if you're on windows)
from official stock Xiaomi MIUI fastboot firmware folder. You can download it from official Xiaomi website.
Preferably it should be the same firmware version that is currently installed on your device.
This should restore your firmware without affecting your user data.
Good luck!
