From global stable to beta? - Xiaomi Mi 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm on 10.1.1 but battery isn't that good to me. How I can switch to beta with locked bootloader?

Hello, my name is John.
Is beta better than stable? There are some small bugs on stable...camera freezes when return from recent apps.
Thank you

I installed it with stock updater. Just download Global beta, select package in updater and install. Backup data because installation will format storage

Are you sure because I was checking miui forum and I read I should flash via fastboot

Hello,
Could you, please, tell where I can download global beta? Is it bugs free?
Cheers

As long as you are on the same Android base the update via update should be ok. It's the way Xiaomi is advising at the official download page.
If you are on different Android Versions or if there is some trouble - fastboot ist the "more clean" way. But you have to unlock BL.

A beta is never "bug free". What a question. :silly: But it should be good enough for daily use... Download it from official website...
So if ever a stable version would be bug free...

I can't find miui 10.1.1.0 stable or beta to download. I only found 10.0.2.0 stable (i think oreo) and miui 8.9.11.0 or 8.9.12.20 Which one is pie beta for global version... locked bootloader? If i don't like it, can I reverse to global stable, using recovery (update.zip)? Where can I find and download 10.1.1.p pie global stable rom?
Thank you

Xiaomi Mi 8 GLOBAL MIUI 10 (8.10.11 Android 9.0 Pie) downloads

Here are the download links for the version everybody is talking about, posted so that people don't flood the threads with questions about where to download.
IT IS HIGHLY ADVISED TO AWAIT THE OFFICIAL OTA UPDATE AS IT SHOULD BE HERE VERY SOON.
RECOVERY METHOD:
http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.10.11/miui_MI8Global_8.10.11_711e9be91c_9.0.zip
FASTBOOT METHOD:

Recovery zip is for people on previous beta builds. Fastboot is for those with an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER looking to go from Global stable to Global beta. These are beta builds intended for developers/testers, so I am going to assume that you know how to install these. If you are unfamiliar with any of these terms or do not know how this is done, WAIT FOR THE STABLE OTA.
I have the latest global stable on a LOCKED BOOTLOADER (600 more hours...) mi 8. Can i somehow flash the global beta without bricking my device?
I read something called "Local Update". en.miui.com/a-232.html
Is this safe ? Will i be able to flash the official stable rom again i wanted to (because of Anti roll back)?
Thanks for your help, new user here.

I did it yesterday and everything is perfect
From 10.0.0.3 Global to 8.9.7 global (linked one page before) and from 8.9.7 I got OTA to 8.11.8 with Android Pie.
Don't worry if you are going from Oreo to Oreo and then to Pie. ARB only mess up when you will go back from Pie to Oreo.

Yes it is possible. I have done it multiple times. You just need the right file. Most people download rom files which are made for twrp or fastboot and try updating through system updater. When they can't (for obvious reason) do that, they come crying and complaining. Get the 8.10.25 rom file from miui forum (download section). Update it first and then you will be able to get 8.11.15. You can't jump straight from 10.0.6.0 to 8.11.15.
Note that switching from stable to beta or beta to stable will erase the device completely.

How to go from Stable to Developer rom?

I am currently running MIUI 10 China Stable and have a locked bootloader, I would like to install the official China Developer ROM, does anybody know how I should install it correctly?
well according to the information on MIUI forums you need an unlocked bootloader for the fastboot flash method.
https://en.miui.com/thread-4765806-1-1.html
Can't use local update to go from stable<>developer and vice versa.
You can just download the recovery rom from MIUI forum and use the updater option "Choose update package" to change to developer ROM without needing to unlock bootloader. The tablet however will need to be wiped upon flashing the new ROM.
I don't think there are any..

[ROM] Mi Globe Rom

First of all, I'm not sure if I have to authority to share this post but as early as now, I would like everyone to know that none of this is my work and all credits will go to the respective author of the project.
This rom is based on Xiaomi.Eu rom.
What is Mi Globe Rom?
It's basically a ROM Builder, they put the firmware installation to a whole new level. You can choose reams of modifications and therefore customize the firmware right before downloading it!
You don’t have to download the firmware and other modifications seperately and install it all one after the other. The mi-globe ROM Builder packs all your selected modifications in only one file, which you can download and install stress-free.
What are it's features?
1. You can optimize GPS configuration per region before downloading the file.
2. Can root or no root depending on your preference.
3. You have the option to select which apps to install or uninstall before building your rom file.
4. Center clock and many more.
Requirements:
1. Bootloader must be unlocked.
2. With TWRP installed.
3. Downloaded rom file.
Instruction:
1. Boot your device to twrp.
2. Wipe cache, dalvic cache and data.
3. Flash rom and enjoy.
Link to the rom builder:
https://mi-globe.com/rom-builder-features/?id=19&codename=raphael&phone=Mi+9T+Pro

In my experience, magisk did not install successfully during the rom flash.. but an stand alone magisk flashable file will be saved in your internal storage. You can either flash it after your first boot up or flash it right after unsuccessful flashing from the rom file.

What base ROM did you both select?
There's a few people complaining of issues with xiaomi.eu stable in other threads, so it's interesting to see that you are doing OK with what is basically a xiaomi.eu ROM with only minor modification.

No. You need to build the ROM on the website each time you want to update it. The FAQs on the website tell you this.

Xiaomi.eu is not an official global rom. it is a custom rom with localisations and various customisations.

There is no official European ROM. xiaomi.eu ROMs are not official, though there is some collaboration with official MIUI from time to time.
If you locked the bootloader after installing a xiaomi.eu ROM, then you won't be able to install updates.
If you want to keep it official, then you'll need to wait until the global Mi 9T Pro, then you can flash the official ROM from that. You would then be able to have the bootloader locked after flashing and be able to update via OTA.

I am hoping the same. Delayed Mi 9T Pro release has delayed development for our K20 Pro as well. I'm guessing we won't get global devs to build los, oxygenos, pixel experience etc without the Mi 9T Pro being available globally..
