Problem!!!! Proximity sensor is always on!! - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

The proximity sensor produces infrared light even when the screen is turned off. I have also tried turning off options like Pocket Mode, Adaptive Brightness and more. Notably, the light is not visible to the naked eyes. You need to use a camera in order to see the light glowing. Also, this is draining my battery quite faster. Please fix the issue ASAP as I am worried right now.

Same issue here
I also tested it using another mobile's camera. I was also able to reproduce the same problem. I think it is also leading to quick battery drain.

On what rom?

Miui stable with custom kernel has that problem. Pixel experience with same custom kernel does not.

How do you know that it is draining your battery?
Did you use BetterBatteryStats or what is the base for comparison?

I have 128Gb version (global) without this issue. Infra is on when display is on and is off when display is off. Bought in Czech Republic.

Correct me if i am wrong, but proximity sensor should be in on state when you are in a call, in order to turn the display off when the phone is close to ear, or when an app is requesting its measurements to proceed to a specified action. Have it in operating state when the screen is off, or when it is not called to do something is bad behaviour and it consumes energy no matter how much it is.

I'm on MIUI Pie Stable 10.1.3.0 with Stock Kernel.
Apart from call purpose, it is used in Pocket mode, Adaptive brightness(for its proper working), etc.
Edit:
I found a solution to this, Go to Settings>Battery>Scenes and turn off Non-interactive mode.
I turned off that option, I will further update if it increases or decreases my SOT.

Still on for me, I'm on latest public beta

Why not to calibrate the poximity sensor by setting, about phone and taping the kernel version, it will turned on engineering mode, choose poximity sensor and test it. Good luck.

Same problem on my poco in latest stable 10.1.3.0. So far I have not found a solution. The suggestions made above don't work.
Lets hope the next build will revert it.

Solved: auto brightness off
Switch off auto brightness and the IR will stop

f*@!kin auto brightness

can someone please tell me how to disable auto brightness on
x10i eternity rom build 003
i tried using every brightness app/widget possible to turn it off but as soon as i turn it off and put the phone under different light setting i can see that the auto brightness is still on
i tried using adjbrightness but it keeps telling me that my phone isnt rooted; anyone get this app to work on x10??
please help n sorry if this questions been asked and answered before. this forum is getting too big and broad sometimes to find anything
thx in advance
Have you tried Sparepart? (That's the name)
Strange, i can't seem to turn on my autobrightness. It used to work perfectly in android 1.6. And i haven't noticed it untill recently. When auto brightness is checked, it just stays the same, even when i hold it directly under a lamp. Maby there is a bug in the software that prevents switching it on or off?
I'd also like an answer to this problem, because with auto brightness on the telephone is a battery eater.. you have to keep it to the minimum level to disable it, but when you are under a strong light, like outdoor with a sunny weather, it's difficult to see your screen's details. as you select a brightness level different from zero, the autobrightness turns on and eats the battery.
I hope I'm missing the solution to this, and somebody will help, because all the applications i've tried (spareparts included) didn't worked.
I'm quite confuse now.....
What actually do we need......
Turn it on...
or
Turn it off...
LOL
heh, so some people want a way to turn it off and others, like me, want to find a way to turn it on?
what a crazy phone..
I'm sure there used to be a tick box in the display settings to turn on/off the auto brightness. Anyway, i've tried various applications myself to get it on but nothing does it. I think the best solution is for us all to swap phones .
Spare Parts doesn't work for me, i tried enabling it, restarting the phone and jumping under my duvet.. but it didn't change
Did you update to 2.1? It was disabled in 2.1 as far as I know.
So the easiest solution, upgrade to 2.1! Else, I don't remember the menu but it's somewhere in the settings under 1.6.
I think we've all updated to 2.1 here =)
and yes, in 1.6 there was a box to tick to unable/disable autobrightness.
But, in 2.1, this feature has disappeared, leaving a seekbar and a damned widget which doesn't allow you to set or no autobrightness.
Hi,
The autobrightness is still there. It can be turned on/of from a stock SE connection widget. The different state for brightness is "minimum" -> "auto" -> "maximum"

Thats pretty much, exactly, what dpk0875 said, if i'm not mistaken.

I can get, either 0%, or 100% brightness, with the ambient sensor disabled. Anything in-between, fades constantly.
No fix for this, i presume?
Reading websites while the screen fades in/out every couple of seconds drives me mad.
Ive never had any problem with it as long as you dont lean in front of it all the time lol.

weird brightness transitions

I have the i717 from rogers and currently running the cm9 official rom but it doesnt seem to matter what rom im on I see this werid fluttering brightness thing occurring on any rom. Try my best to describe it, it is like its almost fluttering up or down in brightness levels when about to dim or undim I am wondering if this is maybe a hardware issue with my device that I should get serviced or if it is normal?

I was going to ask what rom .but then had a thought regarding the light sensor on the device .
And I remember reading about sensor calibration and possible causes of fluctuations .
I suppose a search would find that for you ...but check this also ...
Display settings in cm allow light to decrease ...it's a hysterisis setting ...(I butchered that word )
And the settings control flicker in the display . You might try turning those off .
Next is the power saver settings which allow a light decrease also ..after a few seconds of no screen touch ,the light level drops too save power .
And third ...turn off your automatic light level setting in display settings .
I'm thinking three items are conflicting a bit and some mild tuning will fix it ...g

display always on?

I know this is probably a dumb question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I just ordered a ZW2 from amazon and was wondering, is there a way to keep the display always on? I know you can turn ambient display on and off, but it still looks like it goes to a low power mode, I was hoping to keep it in full display mode all the time. And if this is possible, how much of a battery drain would I be looking at?
There are many face wich are same in active and ambiant mode, depend of the face not really of the mode
The power drain would be unusable. Probably only last like 6 hours or so.

What dersie said. Try Pujie Black watch face app. Lets you set the regular face and the ambient version. Could simply set it the same which would be a workaround to your problem

Adaptive brightness

I turned off adaptive brightness, but while manual brightness is set to maximum I noticed the screen also increases/decreases brightness depending on the outdoor conditions. Sometimes seems it gets even brighter that max manual setting.
Anyone else experienced this?
Hi @mejgs
I too had this annoying issue. Apparently this is caused by an app called "Device Health Services". Disabling it solved the issue for me. Do give it a try & let us know your observation
I noticed it too. Did u experience any issue when disabling it? I am rooting, thinking of uninstalling it altogether. Google has some unwanted apps bundled with Android one.

I've uninstalled that app. No issues so far
I don't have that app, I'm having that issue too

Look carefully. You are supposed to have that app pre-installed. The app package is named com.google.android.apps.turbo
Thanks All. Disabling DEVICE HEALTH SERVICES fixes the auto brightness issue.

Disabled it, still the same issue. So far tried:
- Turned off adaptive brightness, rebooted
- Turned off adaptive battery, rebooted
- Disabled Device Health check, rebooted
- A combination of above
Still nothing!
It's getting beyond irritating now. Everytime I need to read any message or do anything on the phone need to manually lower the brightness and increase it again. That normalizes it for a like half a minute and then goes dim again.
Same issue with my Mi A3 and adaptive auto brightness.
I keep adaptive brightness on all time and when I unlock directly with fingerprint sensor half of the times if not more phone wakes up with high brightness...and doesn't go down...slider is on the dark side and not showing the real brightness...and to change the brightness I have to move around the slider...
It is quite annoying..I disabled device health and seems slightly better but the bug is still there...am I the only one with this problem?
I don't think its a bug but rather a way for the optical in-display fingerprint to properly recognize our fingerprints.

Always-On Display Keeps Turning Off

Hi guys,
I have tries quite many things, but at night, my always on display keeps turning off after few seconds - which I dont want.
What I have:
Xiaomi Mi 10, Android 11, MiUI 12.5.2 - Original, Not Rooted.
What I tried:
Battery Optimization and Ultra Battery Optimization is turned off
Digital Wellbeing should not turn off always on display.
Removed and updated Digital Wellbeing app
Plugged the mobile to electricity overnight
And still always on is turning off.
I am quite "desperate" . Can you help please? Is it turning off for you? What can I try more?
Thank you.
under developer options, all the way down, you can find "Turn on MIUI optimisation" and turn it off. Some other stuff will be less than optimal (I don't know what stuff, but you do get a warning), but you get your permanent always on display.

Isn't there an option in the AoD settings so you can choose permanently on AoD or only on for a few seconds on tap or screen lock.
Edit: yep.

Hi, also tried it, and doesnt work. Here are my settings in AOD:
I guess you're out of luck then. You could try a dedicated app AOD.
Download fresh rom of your choice and flash it ......hope it will work
I am currently using 12.5.7 eu rom with root
Everything working perfectly.
