Mi Pad 4 MIUI.it or xiaomi.eu? - Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Questions & Answers

Hello, I have just bought a Mi Pad 4; when it arrived, I immediately requested bootloader unlock and now i am waiting (290 hours left)...
In the meanwhile, I was searching which rom could I install for this device, I am an italian user so i was thinking to install stable MIUI 10 from MIUI.it, instead of the stable from xiaomi.eu because it is surely well translated and it is smaller then the EU rom, but I did not understand the bootloader and recovery thing.
Apparently if I install xiaomi.eu rom with their TWRP, i will also install a custom bootloader that could lead to problems if i want to install MIUI.it rom afterwards, so my question is if there are there problems with the stable MIUI10 of MIUI.it + MIUI.it TWRP, is it stable enough for daily use or it's better the xiaomi.eu version + their TWRP?

I recommend 8.1 based Mokee rom.
That's the most stable at the moment for me, far better than MIUI based roms.

Thank you for the advice, but for now I am appreciating a lot the MIUI 10 interface and its usability, so I would like to use this for now, but in the future I will surely try Mokee rom

I have found the answer for my questions: when I install the italian MIUI, if i encounter problems with it, i can switch to xiaomi.eu flashing the stock chinese stable rom with the tool called MiFlash, after that I can install xiaomi.eu rom with TWRP;
but if i want to install an AOSP rom, I can install it over every MIUI version obviously wiping data, cache and dalvik-cache of the previous rom through TWRP.

Another italian here guys...if you want I tried the HavocOS (it's the only one that has "official" support like Mokee, it's Android Pie with some custom settings) and except for navbar gestures that didn't work in landscape I didn't find any bug!

Yes, I have also seen this ROM and the reviews under the post are good, anyway for now I will install the MIUI 10 of MIUI.it (some other day and the bootloader will be unlocked), then surely I will try also some rom AOSP-based in the future

First Steps - New RN3 (SD) in EU

Hi XDA,
i just got my RN3 (SD) from banggood and i'm on MIUI Global 7.1 Stable (7.1.99.99 LHOCNCL).
I have problems with some apps and i think its cause there is no locale for my country (Austria) and i configured the clock manually.
So i'm looking for options and clearification:
- I can flash official roms (from here) right away, correct? (without unlocking bootloader, rooting, TWRPing etc...)
- I'm waiting for my official unlock code. Can i unlock with my current rom (7.1.99.99) and newer global official roms? (here it says yes but not sure)
- MIUI is neat, but i kinda miss CyanogenMod. As far as i can tell there are no custom Roms out there with working RIL, fingerprint and stable enough for a daily use? RR seems on a good way and Mokee looks even more promising. Any recommendations or other roms i should keep an eye on?
Thanks for your help, much appreciated!
Yes you can unlock any miui version, and i prefer the official way. Just like you are doing.
As for ROMS i prefer Xiaomi.eu but i dont know why I get in a bootloop after i reboot into the ROM. And if you dont use FP sensor you can use CyanogenMod 13 is the best ROM out there, and i read that a chinese version of CM 13 is working everything (yes FP too).
And if you want you can install AOSP ROM with android 5.1.1 and everything working.

- Flashing official ROMs should not be a problem when you haven't unlocked your bootloader yet (read up when you unlocked it because there's a chance that flashing an official ROM may lock it again). Heads up: Flashing official Chinese ROMs when you're on Global didn't work for me.
- I recommend waiting for official unlock as well. I know the thread you linked to says it's possible to unlock on Global Stable, but for me it only worked on Global Developer. Upgrading from Global Stable to Global Developer works like a charm.
- The new alpha of CM13 by Santhosh M has working RIL from what I know and is relatively stable, but still far from bug free. If you are not too set on Android 6.0 you can also look for CM12.1 based cROMs. The RR ROM you linked is based on Santhosh M's port and will have the same problems. This is true for almost all CM13 based ROMs posted on here so far. People reserve their spot to develop the customized version of CM13, but in reality it all depends on when Santhosh M has enough of a break through to release a stable version.
I haven't looked into Mokee ROM so far, so no comment there. Might work well, but you definitely need to have an unlocked bootloader and a custom Recovery (Cofface's TWRP worked well enough for me) to flash them.
Best of luck and let's hope we get a stable CM13 soon.
edit: Seems like Mokee ROM faces the same problems as Santhosh M's port. I recommend just checking his post for updates. It will probably be the first one to actually port Android 6.0 to RN3. At least that is what I am doing.
@funkymaster be aware that your kenzo was flashed with an unofficial rom by your vendor (7.1.99.99), so first of all you have to get an official rom on your phone. Search the forum or google for 7.1.99.99, you will find guides that will help you (even in german).
Thank you very much for your input! You already helped me a lot.
I'm just gonna document here what i'm doing - maybe it will help others too.
What i have done:
- installed Mi PC Suite (for Xiaomi ADB drivers)
- downloaded MiFlash tool and current global stable rom from here (kenzo_global_images_V7.3.2.0.LHOMIDD_20160419.0000.19_5.1_global_19339c1a10.tgz)
Status: locked Bootloader, no root, vendor miui rom
Goal (for now): official global rom
Next step:
- flash downloaded rom with MiFlash
any input, recommendations still much appreciated
EDIT/UPDATE:
after entering the download mode (see guide) i got "RELINK HS-USB [...]" driver instead of "QUALCOMM HS-USB [...]" in windows device manager. I had to update driver, choose from list and select the qualcomm driver. First it wouldnt work (windows warned me that it couldnt start the device), but i just did a reboot of my phone an re-entered download mode and the yellow warning symbol was gone (in windows device manager).
Then i just followed the guide and flashed MIUI 7.3.2.0 global stable. It worked

Redmi 3 Pro: most purer-stable Rom out there?

Hi
Whats up?
Bought the Redmi Note 3 Pro Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 Hexa Core 3GB/32GB version.
After read a lot and especially the ROMs suitable for Redmi 3 Pro thread
I read that the MIUI's rom is onerous the phone with so much bloatware apps(cleanmaster, antivrus, Micloud and so more).
So, what is the most stable rooted rom w/o bugs at the area? (Read that the CM13 still have some annoying bugs)
I'm totally noob at the beginning after buying a new device
Saw the MIUI 8 V6.7.7 -BUT- still prefer more "puerer" rom and ofcoarse - with the least Lags as possible.
Prefer a rom that comes rooted comes with twrp + gapps installed that keeps the great battery life of the RN3 PRO.
Looking for: Clean+fast-NO LAG+comes with recovery(twrp preferred) and Play store.
What would be the most suitable for my needs?
Is there a "tut's" for how to?
Thanks very much for your help
I think twrp and gapps need to be installed seperately for every rom.
For twrp there are several guides but first step is always "unlock your bootloader". You have to either use unofficial unlock method or request permission from xiaomi.
The CM roms i tested were stable but for me there was the bug that the battery is stuck at 50%. Another bug that a lot of users face is a not working fingerprint sensor.
you can check here for a overview and possible fixes http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/fingerprint-battery-issues-custom-roms-t3429464
I am on Krexus. I suggest you the same. No major bugs.

Hi,
What about MIUI? Maybe the most stable-without bloatware out there?
I want something that close to clean android but still have some few hacks.
Thanks!!!
Miui 7 xiaomi.eu stable 7.3.2. Xiaomi.eu dev 6.5.5 is stable enough too, less stable and good rom is best MIUI 8 rom xiaomi.eu dev 6.7.21, that version od miui 8 is best actually. Of course you should unlock bootloader firstly.
Smiui is great for me awesome battery !!!
@ Pawel978
I'm not sure I understood you.
The best roms for you opinion are:
1) Miui 7 xiaomi.eu stable 7.3.2
2) Xiaomi.eu dev 6.5.5
What do you meant to say in this sentence?
"less stable and good rom is best MIUI 8 rom xiaomi.eu dev 6.7.21"
It not stable but still the best MIUI Rom?
I suggest reading through this reddit wiki first. As for which rom is the most stable and bug free, I'd say Mokee.
Thanks very much!!
Cm13 from santosh is the most stable but not the lightest
Krexus is the lightest/fastest but not the best battery
RR is polyvalent with lots of (useless for me) features, quite stable
Slim is pretty good compromise between speed/stability
I think slim is very small but meaningful customazings and very good from the battery power I have 8.5 hours sot or infinitive os is almost as but both are pretty good
@aaz03 and @noobstyle1337
Thanks for summerized for me the most recommanded roms for my needs.
Guess I will chose between:
Cm13
Slim
All best!!

Need Help on a new Note 3 Pro SE (Kate)

So, I got a new Redmi Note 3 Pro, SE aka Kate, because the lte band 20 band really is a must since I live in a rural area where the bands on the normal version of the phone don't work. I got several questions, it seems so easy to everybody but I guess I'm a newb (although I've worked my way flashing a couple of phones before) I can't really find these answers anywhere else, so I'm trying to find if some of you experts can help Here we go:
1- Where can I find the oficial Global Roms for the RN3P SE?
2- The method to unlock bootloader is the same as RN3P? And how can I install TWRP?
3- Is MIUI 8 available for this phone? And is this ROM bad, as in change it asap? Cause I've seen people complaining, others that love it, and I don't really know. What would you consider is the best ROM for Kate atm?
4- Can I install Kenzo roms on this phone, with or without risk (other than the normal) involved? If so, is there any (noob) tutorial on how to do it?
5- Can I update it OTA?
6- Is there any official Kate thread on XDA?
For now, these are the ones that come to mind. Thank you in advance for your responses.

1. Official MIUI site: http://en.miui.com/extra.php?mod=rom/download&r=301&mobile=no#449
2. Method is the same, request for it, unlock BL via official unlocking soft, than flash twrp with fastboot
3. MIUI 8 is available, it is Stable (not dev). Best rom? Depends on what you need. MIUI is pretty different from stock Android. Status bar and notifications are custom and sometimes don't work as expected (white navbar icons over white background, for example). But â?? battery is great, fingerprint is fast, camera is great. And last two are not in CyanogenMod Roms because of closed sources of MIUI. But CM is CM â?? customizable, nearly stock, etc. Choice is up to you. I was coming from Nexus, flashed CM right from the start â?? but now I'm considering going back to MIUI.
4. Kenzo and Kate are completely the same except for modem software. You can always flash something for Kenzo and flash modem firmware on top. Instructions in "Index" theme in Kenzo forum
5. If you are on official MIUI â?? of course.
6. Kenzo = Kate, so Kenzo forum is your place
(I am a Kate owner, btw)

downgrade from MIUI 10 to MIUI 8.12.20

I have Xiaomi Mi 8 with MIUI 10.2.1.0 Global Stable and I would like to downgrade to MIUI 8.12.20. so I have 2 questions :
* Where to download the MIUI 8.12.20 rom ?
* How to downgrade from MIUI Stable 10.2.1.0 to MIUI 10 8.12.20 ?
I'm a new user of Xiaomi phones, I have no idea from where to start. I google those questions and I read a lot of contradictory informations (some says that it's not possible to downgrade, others says that you just have to flash it, ...). I installed android device bridge and fastboot. Also applied to unlock the bootloader today so I have to wait a while to be able to unlock it for real.
Can you please help me ?
If you can unlock your bootloader you can use mi flash and fastboot to flash beta rom.

you can download recovery rom from en.miui.com and flash though updater app in system settings, backup your data first it will clean all device data
Thank you for your answer. I read that the rollback protection will brick the phone if I try to install a older version my rom. A beta version will skip that check ?
Why would going from android pie stable to android pie beta ever trigger arb?
Actually the entire premise makes no sense... 8.12.20? Stable? Wat?
Miui 8 on mi 8? Wat?

Ok thanks. So I'm on a stable miui 10 build 2.1.0 and I need to install developer build from 3 weeks ago (probably miui 10 but not sure).
I'm trying to install the required version of miui to install havoc ROM. It is written in the ROM requirement that I need to install 8.12.20 and then flash the ROM on top of it.
So if I got it, I need to wait for the unlocking of the bootloader and then install the developer build.
Does it change something if I download the MIUI 8.12.20 from xiaomi.eu ? I don't find that rom on en.miui.com. Do you know any trusted source to download ROM ?

Good to know. Thanks for the information.
Can someone confirm that there is no risk to flash miui Dev 8.12.20 on top on miui global stable 10.2.1.0 ? No risk for arb ?
And is it possible to reinstall an official version of miui in the future after flashing developer build then custom ROM ?
Yes you'll need to unlock bootloader to install custom rom.
No you dont have to wait to install global beta, you can do that straight from the miui updater on your phone (three dots \ choose update package)
It'll factory reset your phone.
I don't know if you can go from 10.2.x.x stable straight to 8.12.20 beta but the updater will tell you.
Worst case you'll have to downgrade to an earlier stable release first.
The miui updater will never allow you two trigger arb and arb will only ever get triggered when trying to downgrade the ANDROID version.
Google to find out how to check the current status of arb via adb

To move from stable to beta I need to unlock the bootloader and this operation takes a while if I understood coreectly. I just applied to unlock my bootloader so I presume I have to wait around 15 days to be able to start, is it correct ?
I did not get why I would have to pass by an earlier stable release first, can you give me more informations please?
Thank you, really appreciate. Was completely lost regarding all those things.

Is it the official global dev rom ? Thank you
Another question to install my new rom, which version of TWRP should I install ? There are many version for xiaomi (wzsx, FireDance-Edition, and many others). Is there any difference ? I just want TWRP, but I don't understand why there are so many different versions of the same recovery for the same phone... Someone understood that ?
EDIT: a user from xiaomi.eu told me to take TWRP FireDance-Edition for the many languages included. Is it a good choice ?

Well, 8.12.20 it's based on MIUI10. If you want to go Beta, just flash 9.1.10 Global Beta, that it's the latest build.
There's a ton of guide on official en.miui.com, just follow them!

My goal is not go Beta but to install Havoc. In the first post of the rom he says, first install 8.12.20 and then flash the rom. That's why i'm asking for that specific version.

9.1.10 is better than 8.12.20, and as I said on Havoc thread the 8.12.20 is the minimum base firmware required, not the only one.
Feel free to try what you want
Other than that, use latest PitchBlack Recovery (based on 3.2.3 TWRP) as recovery.

Interesting. Which miui version would be better to take? Is there one more stable than the other? Is it better to install the latest beta and flash havoc on top of it?
Thank you for pitch-black recommandation. Seems to be a fork of twrp, what your motivation to go with that one instead of twrp?
Your help is yeally appreciate Thanks you for taking the time to answer those questions.
I would stick with whatever the ROM maintainer recommends for firmware. See link got -perfect example of why:

Question Restore stock eea from from .eu

Hello, weeks ago I was on stock miui 13 eea rom. Then I unlocked the bootloader and flashed a xiaomi.eu miui 12 rom. The flash was simply done by rebooting in fastboot and running a .bat.
Can anyone explain me how to go back to miui 13 eea stock?
First, get a stock firmware from here: https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/renoir/ and use a fastboot way.
PS. Atention to download a fastboot version.

Due to various tweaks I recommend also trying the xiaomi.eu miui 13(!) as I did, while...
OT:
I am waiting patiently for an adaptation of CR-Droid for our device (renoir).
Has anyone seen an maybe unofficial version somewhere?
I am a sucker for CR since over a year now on Mi Mix 2s (discontinued).
Has anyone an explaination, why the 4G-Version is supported by more Custom Roms than the 5G-Version?
Is it not attractive enough, hardware-wise?

crDroid 8.4 GSI works flawless in renoir, except for battery consumption ("fashion" features has a cost) and safetynet.
Oh, that sweet sound! So is renoir project treble compatible? I know, i is an A/B-system.
I was relying on the official builds in the past, but I was already planning to go a different way, if there is no official maintainer for a renoir build.
Is there a best option for downloading the crdroid 8.4 GSI?
TWRP is running fine already.
I really appreciate your hint and help on this, thank you @rcavalcanti !
