You may try usb dongle, CF-WU725B.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/COMFAST-Mi...0-Wireless-Adapter-for-PC-Laptop/222972999691
Wifi works on my px5.

i actually have this one on the way already. https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-TL-WN823N-Wireless-network-Raspberry/dp/B0088TKTY2
going to keep an eye out for a low profile SMA wifi antenna with about a 5 foot cable. i would rather just use the onboard WIFI vs a dongle

How Can I Use 3G USB Modem with Tablet s?

is there any one know?
I have huawei E170 3G modem and disable flashdrive mod. I disabled with DC-Unlocker client
But Tablet S did not recognize the 3g modem (Unsupported USB Device Connect)
Please Developer Friends Help me.
Thank You

Here you've got some info. Unfortunately you will have to wait for a root solution.
yes I tried some posts but nothing else
Yes we are waiting developers friends
Tried it using an aircard but android only picks up the usb stick.
I dont know if it actually help but I saw this on tech republic when they open the tablet.
3G-ready motherboard and case: Sony left an open spot on the motherboard and inside the case for a 3G or 4G card. The internal mounting bracket even has screw holes for it.
Dont know if it is possible to add an internal modem or install driver for that.

At least worked for me. It disables other functions of USB 3G sticks and leave them to be acting only as 3G modem, which then tablet recognizes.
Is there anything new? I have got rooted ICS on my tablet. Is it possible to use 3G USB Modem on my tablet? I have got 2 USB-Modems. The first is ZTE K3565-Z and the second is Option 4G Systems XS Stick P14. Is there a solution?

If darkjesus's method didn't work, then I'm not sure anything will. These modems are not easy to work on a lighter system like Android.
I'm happy to be proven wrong, of course.
In a german forum, i found an app called "UMTS Manager". With this app you can connect with 3G Networks with some Huawei-Sticks and maybe some other devices, too. They use mode-switch to switch device mode to modem only and then it works for them. Here's the link:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/asus-ee...-stick-zum-laufen-kriegen-17.html#post3236187
Of course, a lot of pages But some of them got ZTE K3565-Z working. For me it doensn't. Maybe we can find a solution
I found the reason, why it does not work on Tablet S. Our Tablet does not create ttyUSB*-devices when attaching 3G Modem to the Tablet. Normally it creates ttyUSB*-devices, attaches the Modem there and you are able to connect. I think it's a kernel issue or Sony modified the kernel. But with Custom Rom and Kernel which has got this "feature" it is possible to connect via 3G Modem. Maybe one of us could create this custom Rom..
So how?
Hi there friends
So any tablet s user here found a way to use 3G on this tablet?

You will have better success looking for a portable 3G-to-WiFi hotspot device. Not only will you not have to worry about installing USB modem drivers, the device will work with a non-rooted tablet. Also, if you have a 3G smart phone, look into WiFi tethering.

[Q] Anybody tried to plug a USB mobile modem into it

Hi fellow owners,
I am considering to buy, but I'd prefer to be a cheap and get the 16GB WiFi version. However, it would be nice to be able to use a USB dongle for 3G from time to time. Anybody tried?
Thanks!

good advice. I can certainly do this as well as use a 3g wifi router i have. but using the phone's hot spot drains phone's battery and using a router adds to the bulk. that is why I'd like to try a dongle.
Thanks!

I read in the GSMArena review that the XTZ can be tethered to a phone using Bluetooth:
Even if you get a Tablet Z without 3G, you can still use mobile Internet, provided you have a data plan on your droid phone and the Xperia Link installed. The app simplifies the tethering process. It puts a widget on the homescreen that lets you turn tethering on and off.
You might be thinking that you can just use your droid's Wi-Fi hotspot feature to do the same (and you could). The difference here is that Xperia Link uses Bluetooth to share the Internet connection and not Wi-Fi. This should be more power efficient than a Wi-Fi hotspot especially considering you can keep Bluetooth on all the time, which will let tablet and phone hook up automatically once they are close enough (you can't do that with a hotspot as your battery will be dead in a couple of hours).

I haven't been able to try that yet -- my pre-ordered XTZ has yet to ship -- with my Nexus 4 but it could be a solution to Wifi Hotspot battery drain issue.
-- Edit to add --
Well, found the official Sony Xperia Link in the Google Play Store and it's incompatible with non-Xperia phones apparently. Although, the Bluetooth-tether idea still sounds promising. Is there a way to get around the Sony lock-in?
Works!
So I've got the tablet this week and tried just now to stick the USB modem into it.
Naturally you have to be rooted, then you need a dialer :
PPP Widget
from the author of usb_modeswitch (ubiquitous linux tool to change the usb modems from CD to serial mode)
then you need the usb drivers unsurprisingly missing from the stock rom:
On author's forum
then insmod the modules in the zip file:
cdc-acm.ko
usb_wwan.ko
option.ko
(option requires usb_wwan to be loaded first), drop the widget on the home, it should do its magic and ask you for the APN. Then it works.
what a joy.
p.s. apparently the dongle I have needs more power than there is on the tablet port, so you need a powered hub (clumsy) or an external battery and a Y cable to power it.

MicroUSB to Ethernet?

Is this possible on the z2??
Want to connect my z2 to my guest network at work but wifi is not an option
Can anyone confirm this works?
No but USB teathering works which is the next closest thing.
What does that consist of? I'm a nooB

I think usb reverse tethering is also possible but in this case you need a computer and I think it is not very simple to use.
Using a computer as a WiFi hub is probably an option too but I don't think all the hardware/software support that.

Hardware support for that isnt common but for example i can connect my phone to a wifi net and then share that wifi connection via usb teathering which is the closest i got to this

That's a good idea, but will the software accept an incoming internet connection through the usb port?
you can use applications to turn your laptop in a wireless hotspot.
1) you hook your pc to an ethernet cable
2) run and start the application
and voila...you have wifi for your mobile
you may use Virtual Router

Supported modems WIFI/3G

Supported list (GA models. Says 4.2, but same for 4.4.4 iirc)
http://i.sbo2.com/page/GA Series Android 4.2 Manual_EN.html
You may need to change/add apn settings. Install this app to get to the settings: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=diewland.settings.mobilenetworks&hl=en
I use this one: http://www.eonon.com/Others/Others/V0049.html (is cheaper on ebay)
Also make sure that the cable is connected firmly to the back of the headunit

Could someone direct me to where the support list is found? The top link doesn't work. Just wondering if there has been any additions.

You can get other USB broadband modems working if you use the PPP Widget 2 app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.draisberghof.pppwidget2&hl=en). I found it to be pretty annoying though so I came up with an alternative solution.
I now use a TMobile Z915 mobile hotspot. I plan to install a switch to the battery so I can still use it when travelling, but I can otherwise leave it installed in the car and have it powered by the radio. When the car is turned off, it should kill the power to the hotspot. When power is restored it will power up and have instant wifi.
I'm tempted to try my 4G USB broadband modem again just to see if it works now that I've installed the Malaysk ROM. With my portable hotspot, everything is great except that the radio thinks it is always on wifi so it doesn't mind wasting data.
Hello,
I use the Huawei E1750 USB 3G dongle. I see it run not stable and do not know the reason. I usually used this dongle in PC before take it to my car.
Sometime, the HU did not recognizes the dongle, most of times, the problem happens when I start the engine from the HU running by battery's power.
I guess the power supply for the USB port is not enough.
My HU is Klyde MCTB-KLD. RK3066, 800 X 480, Malaysk newest 4.4.4 ROM
Is there someone met this issue before? Please kindly share your experience to help me solve this.
Thanks!

Hi guys,
I am also using a HUAWEI E1750 in my Carjoying HU and had the same problems but maybe I found a solution.
At least the behavior of the dongle improved dramatically.
1. At first I updated the firmware to version 11.126.13.00.00.B418
2. I think this is the important point .... I disabled the CD-ROM and SD-CARD function on the dongle.
You can use for that the DC-Unlocker.
In the white window on the bottom I used this command
AT ^ SETPORT = "A1, A2; 1,2,3,7"

I have a Huawei E160 and unfortunately the AT ^ SETPORT command doesn't work on my dongle. In the past I've tried AT^U2DIAG=0 which stopped it from working with my HU - fixed by reset using AT^U2DIAG=276.
Based on the above advice, I'm now trying AT^U2DIAG=3. It works with the HU but time will tell if it has fixed the reliability issues. I'll update this when I know more.

I tried and successed!
The AT-comand must follow this instruction from http://www.3g-modem-wiki.com/page/Huawei+AT-commands
The code for the "AT^U2DIAG=n" command depends on the model of dongle (Support by/Not support by)
The modem did fix quickly and more stable. But bases on the new firmware update feature: "More saving power" with your suggestion: "Disable CD and SD card reader", I think the main reason is the weak power of USB port. So, increase the USB power is more necessary because we may use any other device on it, not 3G modem only.
Thank you!
It hasn't completely fixed mine, the connection still drops out, but it MIGHT be better than before. Can't be sure though. Based on the above advice about firmware reducing power usage, I'll try that next.
This is for the benefit of anyone who owns a Huawei E160:
Do not install the latest firmware 11.609.10.02.432.b418.
After doing this, it wouldn't work with my HU at all. Unable to add APNs - they're not saved as the dongle is not recognised by the HU. It worked on my PC so wasn't broken, but the HU just didn't like it.
I downgraded to 11.609.06.02.94.B409 (was originally on 11.608.02.02.55 so is still an upgrade) and it now works once more.
I'm going to try out the different AT^U2DIAG commands to see if I can improve reliability.

Hey people,
I have a question. I have a 3g Stick Huawei E1750. It works very good, but I need 4G, because here at the most time only EDGE, and 4G is not supported by the stick. Does anyone knows a compatible working 4g STICK, not a Modem. Thanks

This is a 2nd hand tab that I got at low price one because BT wasn't working (wifi was working flawless)
I didn't care because I don't need BT but now, I find out it was the same chipset for both and realize I should have been more careful.

So neither works.
Pretty much out of luck unless your prepared to use a mobile data dongle or a usb ethernet adapter.
Unless you're skilled at smd and bga removal then repair us pretty much out of the question.

Perhaps there are some USB-C wifi dongle somewhere, It's mostly for a home usage. I will check. It would be a good way to extend my tab's life without reducing my wallet's one !

I doubt there's anything specific due to drivers being an issue.
You may get lucky if you find out which chipset the tablet uses then try and find a dongle that has the same chipset.
You would need to connect it via OTG.
Won't be easy

Have you considered a Bluetooth dongle via OTG? Certain dongles may work.
Here in the states we have https://www.ubreakifix.com/ so you may see if there is some similar service near you.
I asked for repair quotation and it's around 120 euros. Still searching for a compatible BT or Wifi Dongle
