Reading an external SD Card - OnePlus 6T Accessories

Hi
I want to get my 6T to read SD Cards from a trail cam. I purchased one from UGreen and it has almost no instructions. I can't get it to work. I did put the phone in OTG mode. I had to use an adapter from Micro USB to USB Type C. There is no indication that it is connecting. Any ideas?
If anyone has been able to do this on the 6T, even if it means buying a new adapter, let me know how.
Thanks
John

Do you have OTG storage enabled in system settings?

"OTG storage" is enabled. Are there any other OTG settings that also need to be set?

You need an OTG cable. That should work since that's how I transferred all of my photos from my micro SD card (in a card reader) to my 6T. I doubt directly plugging the card reader via adapter would work.

1. Buy a OTG microSDHC card reader.
2.Check the tipe of the files on card.

The unit is OTG but it has an micro USB fitting and I am using a micro USB to USB Type C adapter. Could that be the problem? I don't see how, the adapter should be straight through. I don't think it is a file issue, the 6T does not even see card. I might just try another reader.

use the app WiFi explorer, and you can transfer anything and everything wirelessly, via wifi..those files on your sd card need to be on another computer or somewhere they can be "seen"..

This one has been working great for me. I've used an older otg micro to A adapter with no problems before though. Could just be a faulty adapter on your end.

Yaotl, I can't figure out anything else but the reader. I think I will give the Anker reader you suggested a try.
Thanks for the help,
John

I purchased another reader. Works perfectly. Thanks for all the help. Especially, Yaotl.

[Q] USB Cardreaders

While I'm waiting for my Transformer+dock to be delivered, I'm looking to see if someone has experience using a USB cardreader on it.
I want to use my transformer to view pictures from my Sony camera (so it uses MemoryStick). So either I use the (bulky) proprietary camera USB cable or I use an external cardreader to access the Memorystick...
I suppose the internal cardreader in the dock doesn't support MS, right?
Any suggestions?
The eeePads card reader is micro SD and the docks card reader is full sized SD.. BUT here's an elegant suggestion to solve your problem... :
..I bought a 16Gb Class6 microSD card on amazon uk that came with a full sized SD adaptor & Sony memory stick adaptor bunled in
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0032CJIUG/ref=oss_product
.. so you put that card & memory stick adaptor in your Sony camera to take pix.. then when you're ready to view on the tablet, simply take the card out of its adaptor from the camera and put directly into the tablet (micro SD) or swap it into the full sized SD adaptor and read via the dock..
Nice!
Thanx for the tip.

Photography workflow suggestions?

I've had to return 2 primes, but my third will hopefully come soon from Hhgregg.
Anyway,
I'm going to Thailand in March and wanted to use my Prime and Dock in my photography workflow.
What I have currently is a Canon 50D camera (uses Compact Flash cards), External USB HDD and an external card reader/USB hub. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028MEZFE/ref=oh_o05_s00_i00_details
I'm trying to figure out the best way to transfer off my CF cards to my external HDD. It's not looking like I will be able to have them both connected at the same time. So, currently it's looking like I may need to transfer from CF to internal MicroSD card, then to HDD. However, I noticed on a test that the transfer rate was really slow doing it that way.
The USB hub/Card reader is seen by the prime, but I could not see both a CF card and external USB HDD connected to that hub at the same time. Which is what I was hoping for.
Any suggestions on a workflow or questions if I didn't make enough since above?
Thanks
I would try a usb hub and a usb card reader, idk if usb card readers work past the ASUS one, which iirc plugs into the docking port.

Keyboard dock with an adapter

I have a microsd card and a microsd adapter however when i insert the adapter with microsd inside into the transformer prime dock, its not recognized. Is the tablet incapable of recognizing a card that's within an adapter? Does it have to be a straight SD card for it to be recognized? Thanks!

Worked just fine for me....just tested it.
Just plug n play? Weird, tried two different adapters and two different microsds and none worked. Is there a way to force it to search for the card?
EDIT Nevermind worked fine after a restart.
Maybe its wrong format? I now have a 64gb prime because of 2 16gb cards i had lieing around
The adapter is transparent to a computer, both types of cards have the same pinouts. No device out there needs special support for those adapters.
Aye, maybe the adapter is just faulty or has a damaged pin that pisses off the driver.
I've had no problems with any MicroSD, SD, or MicoSD+SD adapter I've tried.

Card reader

I'm pretty sure Nokia 7+ supports OTG.
I have an Aukey USB 3.0 A to C adapter into which I've plugged an Anker USB 3. 0 card reader. The phone does not recognise this as storage. Should it and, if so, what am I doing wrong, please?
maybe your reader don't support OTG mode? i have https://www.kingston.com/en/flash/readers/fcr-ml3c and working fine without any settings or 3rd apps...
after put is USB, in status bar i see usb icon, in notification i see "USB Drive" with buttons Explore and Eject, after click on Explore a see files on microSD in USB reader and mp3 from it is played ok...

Thanks. That's very helpful. How does one establish if a reader supports OTG? I need an SD card reader so can I assume the fcr-mlg4 will also work?
now i noticed, then you write about separate USB-A->C adapter and USB-A card reader... then i think not be problem with card reader (this not need support OTG if used with (right/working) OTG cable/adapter), but with your USB-A->C adapter, maybe not support OTG or is broken... can you try in this adapter put another USB Flash? and put in N7+ (after USB Flash putted to adapter)

then i think aukey adapter not suport OTG and is only for use with PC/Apple with USB-C conector... try buy another adapter, i don't post link to ebay because i don't know if adapter for $1 from china with OTG in description really have OTG support or is mistake/lying... try buy some from your local/country_eshop store with verifing with on vendor site or with shop support that is really with OTG... i see on me country eshop for example "Akasa AK-CBUB25-15BK" and vendor say is have OTG support, but sure you find also another...
edit: sorry i write akasa model with microUSB, this is with USB-C "Akasa AK-CBUB30-15BK"
http://www.akasa.com.tw/search.php?seed=AK-CBUB30-15BK
for this vendor not say OTG support, but have photo with phone/tablet, then i think OTG supported (and in description in me country eshop in description is OTG support)
OTG
Thanks k3dar7.
It had never occurred to me that a USB-C to USB-A adapter wouldn't have OTG support. I've ordered one from Amazon that, hopefully, will do the trick.
Many thanks for your help.

Just received AUKEY USB C Adapter to USB A ( 2 Pack ) with OTG USB Type C Converter https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B074K38QC7/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 from Amazon and it works perfectly with OTG. I'm now very happy, thanks!

OTG not supported !!!

Hi gurus, just got this phone.....happily wanted to transfer all my music and movie files to ROG phone using OTG, but phone unable to detect the sd card !
tried using OTG dongle, sd card reader, even connect ROG phone to another type C phone using the original cable provided.....all failed.
emailed to Asus asking them, replied to me saying this phone does not support OTG !!!
WTF?!!
any gurus here tried connecting the OTG successfully??
I am using china otg from Oukitel mobile - I only had to buy USB-C reduction. Everything works perfectly
I'm using a 128GB USB 3.0 stick even formatted with NTFS via a USB-A to USB-C adapter without problems. Haven't tried it with an SD card reader as I don't own one.
Provided cable is optimized for charging only. You will need to find a data cable and use the side port, not the bottom port.
