Stable Pie ROM ? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

At current position, which pie ROM is stable enough and can be used as a daily driver ? Also, is there one in which NFC works ?

Are you sure you're in the right place? I didn't know there was NFC in RedmiNote4. As for stability, Lineage, PixelExperience, Havoc. I've tried these, they're stable.

"Stable enough" is a bit of a vague term. If you need ultimate stability, try an older Oreo ROM, they have been tested more.

You may be better off asking which Pie ROM is stable and being actively supported.

All of them :3

Best ROM threads are not allowed here because they:
A) always devolve into silly bickering
B) are too subjective - what is "best" for one user is not necessarily "best" for another user due to differing use cases
The answer is, try a bunch of them and decide for yourself which is best for you.
I would like to rephrase him if I may, at this moment what is the most stable nougat rom for surnia, in my case. I normally follow the latest updates but I've been away from xda for a while and I would like to know if there is any completely or mostly stable at this moment
For me it's RR. I find it to be more stable than any other N rom out there.

RR is stable with the most features, Slim is the lightest since it has the least features and cyan is dead until Lineage OS is up and running, AOSCP is decent too, the new 7.1.1 update has just been released. Like the above user said, try them all and decide for yourself.

Good rom

Can you suggest me a good custom miui rom for the phone? I want one with the best battery life. Thanks

1) Try yourself to find the best ROM..
2) battery life is nearly identical for all roms i tried.. (AOSP Extended, Resurrection Remix, Lineage OS, AICP)

Custom Miui rom? Eh, there is no custom Miui roms I guess, you could try flashing Xiaomi.eu roms. That's all I know about mi roms.
Just flash an AOSP based rom, best for business
AFAIK, every custom ROMs / MIUI roms gives same battery life.
Good rom - criteria in post
Hi there. I finally got permission to unlock the bootloader in my xiaomi redmi note 4 global Version (snapdragon). Well, actually it's a device I'm Setting up for a friend.
I will try several roms for the Note 4 mido, but I Need some helpf from you to narrow the roms I'm going to try.
The criteria the roms should fullfill:
- Simple
- Stable
- good battery life
- fast/snappy
- good camera-app preinstalled
- good gps / navigation
- Fingerprint sensor working
- front sensor-Buttons working
- if possible, OTA updates
Would AOSP ext, Resurrection Remix and Lineage be a good choice, or are they instable/too Feature rich? What about AICP? What's the difference between slim7 and candy7? Would they be good? Thank you very much for any Input, really looking Forward working with this device and to get rid of miui...
cant unlock my yet, but you could you share which one worked best? thanks
Multirom.me
I tried XenonHD, Lineage and AOSP ext. so far, always the latest version. I love the simplicity of Xenon, and that it uses the Nova Launcher. Unfortunately, it bugs me that the soft-buttons on the front don't vibrate (yet). Lineage... I just tried it too short to judge it.
Resurrection was too complicated/feature rich for my taste.
Then I installed AOSP extended, and I really, really like it. It's really stable, it works, and it has all the daily-driver qualities that I need.
plz link to the extended rom if u can , thanks

Onyx ROM : AOKP vs LineageOS

Hi,
As OnePlus is not updating anymore Onyx since last november I'm considering installing a custom rom.
For now my choices are on AOKP and Lineage OS.
I want something light but secure.
I don't need billions of features.
Does anyone has experienced both roms on Onyx and could give some feedbacks ?
Thanks a lot !
Regards,
Lineage is simply no go.
I think GZR are most stable ones.
There is a minimal feature build of jdc available on afh you can try that, imo it is the best nougat based rom for onyx at the moment(may change once pa hits the market).
Try Tesla from the thread here if you are looking fir stable 7.1.2 ROM

I will have a look at GZR.
I never heard about it before.
What's wrong about LineageOS ?
Big Update The King SultanXda Might support onyx.
So whenever his N based rom is out it will be the most stable and complete rom for onyx(he is the best dev out there).
I use XenonHD: fast and stable, ok for daily use, no bugs, tristate ok, updated near monthly. About 4h of SOT.
I red that there's network issues with most of N roms for Onyx.
Is it true and anyone has experienced it with GZR?
Sultan is great but...

I'd rather get Tutorials from Sultan than wait for him to develop OPX ROM - I appreciate he is just trying to survive like everyone else.
He's great but I have to be able to understand & do for myself. I can't afford ISP but would pay SultanXda to put out Tutorial Videos using OnePlus X as an example device, so I could learn from him.
Can't wait for anyone, its too dependent better to learn for myself & teach others so they can be independent too.
I went back to OOS 3.1.4 there are too many apps I don't use on it but I like OOS Style just wish I could remove unwanted google apps get security updates on it at least

Stable 100% bug-free AOSP Nougat ROM for Redmi note 3?

Hi, I'm sorry if this question is asked way too frequently, but the thing is, when I bought the Redmi Note 3 over a year ago, I had planned to install a near stock Android ROM. But after searching for a good ROM, I found that none of the AOSP ROMs back then supported VOLTE, which I absolutely require for Jio. Even now when I search for marshmallow ROMs, most of them either don't support VOLTE or have some other bugs like dual SIM not working which makes those ROMs unfit for daily use. Now that xposed for Nougat is out, I'm willing to try a Nougat AOSP ROM. Is there a stable 100% bug-free near stock Android Nougat ROM for redmi note 3? I would appreciate if people would recommend me a good ROM ONLY if they have personally tested & confirmed that the ROM is indeed 100% bug-free, VOLTE works & there aren't any battery drain issues. I don't want to flash a ROM, then find out it has bugs, then move back again to MiUI. If there is no such ROM, then I'll just continue using MiUI. Thanks.
Dude mention your requirements like stability is undefined but on an overall basis, you can try any of these Tested: Resurrection remix, Viper OS, AOSIP & Others: Citrus CAF, Nitrogen OS Nougat with a custom kernel like ElementalX or Radon. Check description for the site which contains everything you need.

I'll be checking out the site you mentioned, but my requirements are basically an AOSP ROM that is 100% bug free. Other than that, I would _PREFER_ a ROM that doesn't have way too many additional features(Resurrection Remix is one good example of a ROM having too many additional features). I would rather use Xposed for all the fancy features & not have it built into the ROM. It's pretty hard to find a ROM that doesn't have ANY kind of bugs or any battery drain issues so I would use any AOSP ROM that is completely bug free, I have no specific feature requirements.

Okay for your requirement try Slim , Citrus CAF , Lineage OS

IMO Customised Lineage OS by Umang96 is the most stable Rom. It has Radon kernal build in.

What is the best rom so far

I decided to flash a rom. But i can't decide which one best for daily driver.
I want to know that.. Please tell me which is the best.. Guys which rom are you using?
Bump
Hard to say because they're all pretty much alike. Pick your poison (Stock/Lineage/AOSP) and read up on the flavours the devs add to each one. Whatever floats your boat. All the active ones - that I have tried - are stable

If you want to try out nougat roms first then, resurrection remix is a must try. Now resurrection remix comes with a ton of customisations but if you are more of a stock guy then lineage os or slim rom is for you. However if you wanna directly try out oreo (which I won't recommend) then liquid remix, aosp extended 5.1 and aoscp are roms to definitely try out.

I used cardinal for a week and i must say it's pretty good for daily driver. Smooth and stable. I tried a few oreo roms (omnirom, aex and cardinal) and i prefer cardinal in overall performance + battery. I used velvet kernel in all those roms. I decided to switch back to nougat rr since i like all those customization options and battery life is much better in nougat for now.

Pretty much all the roms are stable enough to use as a daily driver. But oreo isn't mature as of now. That's why i said not to try oreo. Plus since you haven't tried any custom rom for this devce, you "should" atleast have a look what the custom side of nougat has to offer. Don't get me wrong, oreo is good, and it's the best android right now, but there are some bugs regarding wifi and Bluetooth connectivity, and cellular network. However if you are really excited to try out oreo, especially pixel experience, then the only catch in the rom is that, many times the device is being referred as pixel and not Redmi note 4, like the setup says "set up your pixel device" , which for me i am not a huge fan of. Instead the i am gonna share my procedure for the perfect stock experience. So I've used the aoscp rom for about 2 months and it has been really good. It has a near stock experience but includes some tiny features like accent color changer, and button remapping. So what i do is, i install the rom, and along with it i install the micro package (or more recently i had started using the aroma package to install only what i need), and after gapps i install product sans font (attached thw zip in case you wanna try), and the ambient display gesture. Now at this point sometimes i also install the stormguard kernel zip file (stormguard is an overclocked kernel which actually gives nice increased performance, especially in games). Now this is my perfect setup for my device. Maybe you'll have something else? But definitely try this out.

I am currently using Luis Build.
It's the only unofficial rr build that is updated till now afaik, since there is no more official update.
I've tried almost all ROMs that are available for RN4..But when comes for daily usage I'd prefer LineageOS or resurrection remix.
And out of these two if stability and performance where of utmost important to me I'd use LineageOS(obvious isn't it??).
And if I wanted to customize my ROM as per my wish then RR it is. Doesn't mean RR is not stable it's just that Lineage is better in terms of stability.
Happy flashing!!

Nahh that's old now dude, since aoscp became official i feel it has become slower in performance. So right now i am actually using the Treble supported lineage os 15.1, and it is pretty good. However if you want customisations then there are only two roms to choose, and they are Resurrection Remix and cdDroid. These roms are filled with customisation, and both of them are based on lineage os. I've tried both and used resurrection remix for a week or so, so the main difference between both of them is, regarding the ui. The features are more or less the same, but resurrection remix is based on an older version of los rn (resurrection remix 6.0.0 taken in consideration) whereas crDroid is based on newer aources and has better ui control.
And regarding Lineage os, it is pretty good. I always decrease the animation speed to 0.5x to be smooth, and after that it's been real smooth and good. It now has some more customisation and features added. It also has a feature to change the accent color and ui mode. Pretty good. I've attached screenshots for you to see.
(The los now has new icons too)
In conclusion if you want features, go with Resurrection remix or crDroid. (I'll prefer Resurrection Remix), but if you want some aosp rom with decent amount of customisation then go for Liquid Remix or Aosip.
(In below screenshot, keep in mind that i installed the product sans font and ambient display mod
@Arnova8G2 Is there any chance that you are fixing the perennial slow motion crash bug on RN4.. I hope it is done cos it is the only thing that is not working as of now.
