I'm waiting for this tutorial too! Hope there's something to do! :/

You aren't likely to find your answer on XDA. There is no free method for unlocking the bootloader on Huawei phones (which might not be an issue on the Chinese version). There also is no simple way to manually flash firmware on Huawei phones because they don't want owners (or unscrupulous Chinese merchants) to modify the software.
You would probably need to rebrand your phone to run the international ROM on it and I don't know if rebranding is even possible on this phone--it wasn't on the P20 Pro.
You might want to contact Funky Huawei. It's not a free service but they might at least be able to tell you if running the global ROM on the Chinese hardware phone is possible.
If that isn't an option somebody said there was an unnoficial build of LOS for the M20P. You might be able to flash that which wouldn't be an ideal solution but it would give you access to most Google apps.

Only issue so far is WiFi calling missing on my Chinese version, Google map timeline can't working properly.
I can use okay Google, Google feeds etc...after deleted some related Chinese softwares.

Google Play access in CHina

Hi, I live in China and recently bought a Galaxy S3 (China Unicom version). What I didnt expect is that none of the google apps or even Google play come pre-loaded. Itried installing them individually, but after intallation it doesnt open and just goes back to the homescreen. I am just not able to open any google related app even after idownload and install APK files. i ahve VPN and can access allsites, VPN won't solve the problem.
I went through some other posts and saw suggestions around rooting and installing custom roms. can someone give me some specifics please, maybe some links? THis is not about blocked access to google play, i just cant install it and get it working on my phone. I can't return it to the store (since theres no prob with it) and I don't even care about the warrantly anymore. I just want to ensure that if i root it and install something, it be the right one that doesnt clash with the version i have and doesnt brick my phone. Partiuclars below. could someone please please help?
I am desperate now! Samsung china apps are the worst!

Hi there from China..go to the stickies from this section..you will get all the information you require about rooting..then go to android development section and there you will get most of the roms you will need..now read the OP very carefully before flashing..all the instruction will be there in the op..most of the stock based roms have gapps included..for aosp/aokp Roms also flash the gapps package..

Yeah, they kinda suck ... except for their camera software ... It kind of rocks.
You will need to root and Rom your phone. There will be advice on how to root in the stickies as mentioned. I did it as a noob and found the task nerve-racking but in the end quite fun. I also cheated a bit and practiced on cracked open an old HTC desire and popped its cherry with Cynogen nightly. Anyway, once you root then you will be able to back up, although I don't know if there is any point to backing up instruction as your phone kinda sucks at the moment and I imagine you probably can't even get a back up app onto your phone.
This whole deal could take up a day of research and downloading and messing around. Be prepared to be without your phone for a day and to put in some time and effort - even if you are a genius, you'll have difficulty. Also, despite people saying doing it with a mac is easy - I found the opposite to be true and I use my mac waaaaaaaaaaay more than my pc. Set aside a Sat or Sunday to get lost in the world of Android. Hopefullly, it will only take you a short time, but just in case... Anyway, it is worth it.
I am using Omega ROM - you can find it in this forum somewhere. I love it - it has Google play App. I initially tried others but I found I missed the samsung camera software functionality too much.
I still need my foreign sim card for some apps and a vpn is useful too. but there is no way that I know of easily getting around the Chinese limitations... Unless you can read simplified Chinese well enough to use the Chinese versions of Google Play that must be plentiful.
Lastly, If you are a complete techno spaz. Scrap what I said, and just find a black market and get it rooted there. I don't know what it costs, but it should be cheap.
Good luck.

Oh and make sure your phone is compatible with the rom and directions ... mine was a GT-i9300 there are other models and apparently it makes a big difference. It should tell you in settings/about device/model number.

[Q] Custom rom from nandroid backup?

Hey all!
I bought a phone from China (Lenovo A706...quiet good value for money) and I received it with english software, play store access etc. Now...most people who ordered it from China were not that lucky. Because the phone is listed as China only, it does not have play store access out of the box and most of the apps are in Chinesse. Also, there is virtually no development for this phone in the English speaking world (there are some Russians working on roms but...russian is as bad as Chinesse for most of us )
I have managed to install CWM using a Russian guide (google translate rulls!) and I would like to use that to somehow share the rom on my phone with the community. The question is...how do I do that? Also, the backup was done with my google account signed in so I would obviously want to delete that before I upload it anywhere lmao
I do have some experience of messing with roms and all (my main phone is a Nexus 4 after all...) but I never cooked a rom myself
Thx for helping a noobish guy. It is for the greater good, trust me
P.S. If I download one of the Russian roms (which are to be flashed with CWM..easy peasy) and replace my system folder with the system folder in their ROM would that work? I'm talking about the same baseband ofc
Anyone?

Lenovo A560

Hello All,
Bought a Lenovo A560 from China, and all system is in CHinese. I have switched to English, but only the menu. I have looked all over the internet for the ROM for this device, but was unable to find it.
I even contacted the Lenovo representatives here in Romania, and they said that given that the warranty is not international, they cannot help me. Nevertheless, I wonder whether there is still something I could do, maybe install a ROM from a different device having a similar chip, or any ROM that would work for the Android 4.3 OS as this phone has.
As mentioned by other users, the Google Play store is not working, nor the GPS.
But if installing a different ROM, which one should I choose and how do I find it?
Thank you very much in advance. I hope I would find some ansswers given that the phone looks really good and I really wish I could use it.

Hisense a6 (double screen)

Hi,
I just bought from China, Hisense a6 with double screen.
It comes without google play. I have tried to install google play manually without any success.
I have tried with apkmirror, installing manually. I also tried with googleinstaller 2.0 and 3.0. But both method did not give any result.
Is there a way to install googleplay on the device or any international stock rom?
Thanks
wij
be
I also want ot solution of same things. Anyone please help me out.
From what I know it's impossible unfortunately, because Hisense locks down any possibility to install google services.
I think you could use Yalp store to replace google play store. For google play services, I'm not sure it would work, maybe you could use the open-source solution like microG?
Hi,
The problem is not only on google play store, but it is impossible to create google account, for gmail, contact, calendar, etc.
Eventhough, I can install other apps, but without sync all the basic, it is practically unuseable.
Is there any solution for this?
thanks
wij
Hi,
I want to get the A6 too but I am using gmail and calendar so much that it's a no-go for me if I can't install them...
Do you know how they lock the possibilities to install google service? There must be a workaround.
Or do you think using another android image could help? Maybe we can just install the app/drivers needed for the eink?
---------- Post added at 04:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:27 PM ----------
I found some references on Baidu (chinese google) :
can't share them as I have less than 10 post. But if you try "安装google hisense a6" you will find some thread on fan forum of hisense.
Dunno but it looks like it can't be done. Now we must find why and how to bypass it...

If we find how they prevent the app from working then maybe we can find a way to bypass it
Or installing a basic android. But then the eink won't work... Maybe there's a way to get the drivers from current version.
But I am unfortunately no expert of android roms...
Btw can you tell me how the eink screen compare with yotaphone 2 ? Is the resolution better?

Actually, I've watched posts in some Chinese forums and nobody have ever found a solution for installing google play services on Hisense phones. I think the only way to use google is to wait the release of the "export edition" with google play services, since Hisense basically "locks down" the possibility of installing google play services and rooting. But it seems any of the "export edition" of Hisense has the problem with updating firmware.

That is a bad news.....
What I think very frustrating is that Hisense advertize their phone at the CES so that everyone know, then they release it only on China without any plan of global release.
Even more annoying they give basically no information about it. I tried contacting them on every possible email but had only a "we currently have no plan for global release".
I mean why would they even care to lock google framework. That does not make sens that the company would try to lock it, I thought it would be the Chinese government that was locking it locally in China. I would be Hisense, on the contrary I would release unofficially a bypass for this google lock to make more sells.
It's just what happenned with the yotaphone 3, it was not available for global customers for a long time, until people got uninterested and that a newer model finally got available. No surprise they are not doing good sells.
here is full bin package for A6, and I'm trying to unzip the bin file. I was wondering if one get to know how to pack the bin file , then you can add magisk/google service app into the boot/system partition and flash it with QPST tool.

i guess it's the reason from google inc. Cuz if hisense wants to put gapps into their phones, they must be certified by google, with money and legal stuff. Chinese government has no limitation on the gapps installation. Currently in China most phones made by Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo/Oppo and of course oneplus have google framework . (but you will need to try to install one google app like maps or youtube to activate it.)
Oh I thought google/youtube was still locked in China.
I just checked and found that you are right, it's google that is preventing the framework from working on uncertified devices since 2017 : https://blog.elcomsoft.com/2018/04/google-services-blocked-on-uncertified-devices/
What is this bin package exactly? What do you mean unzip it? For me bin means binary file, so unzip I guess you mean retroengineering to get back source code? This sound like virtually impossible isn't it? Unless this kind of bin package which structure is similar to every android bin package?
Now that we know what is the issue maybe there's a way around it I'll dig into it.

yes google & youtube and many other sites are still locked in China, but you can use one VPN to bypass the block. It is possible to examine the bin structure, just see the link i posted above-using the tools provided in that link. I tried to look into it, but I don't koow which part is the boot partition. However, most part of the bin file are self-explainable. For example, the binwalk gives the offset of different android system file in the bin file. You can just extract a file with the offset address from the bin file.
Thanks,
Can you tell me more about this bin file? Where did you got it and what it is exactly? (I think I miss some basic understanding on how the android roms are made.)
What it should include and so on.

the bin file and its related info can be figured out through this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78724090&postcount=12 , using the binwalk utility on a linux system
the not certified by google error is not related to hisense a6, as a6 itself cannot install google framework, let alone the error (which only exists when you have the framework on the phone)
a hisense engineer told me that they plan to sell a6 outside China, and they have a gapps ROM version for it. You can mail your phone to them and request them to flash that custom ROM into your phone (for free).
Thanks for the info!
Not sure to understand correctly, you need to mail physically the phone to them in China? Then they send it back to you? Or send them your phone number? But then I don't see how that would help them flashing the ROM.
Have you done it already ?
If you can pm me the engineer contact to get the room? I tried to contact hisense on various email but got no usefully reply so far.
PS: so I guess global version will be same hardware right? Not like yotaphone2 ? Cause I got the Chinese yoga version which gave me lot of bugs even with global ROM.

yes, he told me to physically send the phone to them and they will flash a beta version google-rom into it. I will not do that as I've sold my a6 already.
I can ask for his permission whether to share the ROM info after the Chinese new yr.

Can i know why you sold it? Was it because you were not satisfied and if so by what problem?
Buying it from China to France, then send it back from france to china for in the end have it back from China sounds like a lot of shipping...
If you can send me his name or email or wechat or anything then perhaps I can discuss with him
But as you say with CNY he probably won't reply.
A reseller in China told me Hisense planed to release global version after CNY, within 50 days from now. But not sure if his info was correct.

Advice needed - UK Mate 20 Pro flash to non-Vodafone version of Android

Hi everyone,
I've been looking around Google for some way to change the Android version on my Mate 20 Pro from the Vodafone (UK) version that it originally shipped with, to a completely stock Huawei UK version. Mainly to stop the constant want of bloatware app updates that Vodafon want to push to me despite the phone being unlocked and not on Voadfone anymore.
I've followed some directions huaweiadvices(dot)com, and I belive I got the correct firmware download from FirmwareFinder (I can't post links, but will PM them to anyone who can help). None of the methods shown in the above article worked for me, in anyway. I'm either getting a "file not found message" or it just not doing anything at all.
The version I'm on is EMUI 10.0.0.196(C432E7R1P5). I've got a Drive link that I will share that's got screengrabs from the phone with details.
This is the first time I've tried to flash a phone, I'm completely lost and need some help; so if this is on the completly wrong board or has been asked before, I apologise. If anyone can point me in the direction I need to go, or let me know if its even possible, I'd be very grateful.
Thanks
