Perhaps you are on the Install IMG screen instead of Install ZIP screen.

[Q] Trouble rooting

I am almost done rooting my HTC One. I am able to boot into recovery and get into TWRP but when i go to install it goes directly to SD (which I don't have). I have looked through all of the folders to find the .zip file that I need to install SU but it is not there. I have downloaded it directly to the phone as well as added it from "file transfer." File transfer that there are 3 zip files on the phones internal memory but nothing shows up in Team Win. Help?
Also when I reboot from Team Win, I get a message that tells me I am not rooted, and asks if I want to install SU.....I am afraid ill brick the phone if I swipe to install with no zip selected.
figured it out

I had installed the wrong package for TWRP. Got it changed over and it works fine now!

Update 09/12/2015

Hey me again.
So I just got an OTA update notification, but since I'm on a custom recovery, I can't install it. Don't suppose anyone would go to the trouble to re-package it as a flashable zip file for TWRP/clockworkmod?
Thanks.
flash recovery on OTA pack
There isn't any recovery and the firmware.zip can't be extracted
I'll have access to a full stock Asia phone that's had the update applied tomorrow. As long as the recovery.log is still in cache I should be able to work out which files where updated and create a TWRP update zip file from it.(If its just stagefright libs being replaced it should be compatible across regional roms)
I can provide the ota from Poland play version

Have you installed the update? Last time i tried i couldn't do anyrhing with a ota_update zip. But with a twrp /system backup and hopefully a recovery.log file from an updated rom, i think I can work out which files were updated and create twrp compatible update.zip based on that. The asia ota_update was only 87Mb in size and trying to address the stagefright bug from what I've seen. Is that the same for you?
No, I can't install it. Mine was around 38mb
edit: ok i found a solution, if you have a backup of your rom (i got it after got installed twp for first time) open it with winzip or 7zip then navigate to sytem>bin>bebuggerd and copy it to the phone. then with a filemanager with root privileges replace the current one and give proper permissions. thats it

How to use flashify to flash the recent updates under downloaded_rom folder?

1. My Redmi 5 Plus/Redmi Note 5 India is rooted, using TWRP and Magisk
2. I would like to know if there is a way that recent updates under downloaded_ROM can be flashed using a third party application such as Flashify?
3. I have come to this decision because when I tried to reboot device for installing recently updates, my device enters the TWRP recovery only find nothing in there, which is annoying. Root cause for this mess is that Xiaomi's fastboot rom downloads page is download, which would usually be my go to method after all. Using Mi Flash Tool, and then a few command types re-root the recently updated mobile phone.
Please guide me!
If I understood well if twrp it´s not recognicing (not really, only it can´t access) your data partition you need to format data at first time after to unlock and install a custom recovery in order that twrp can access to your storage directory.
Flashify just is capable to install boot and recovery images. Maybe you meant FlashFire, then to install it tap on + button and a menu will display with some options like Flash ZIP or OTA.

you're right, brother. I meant FlashFire, when I typed Flashfire. My bad.
I have the OTA downloaded from the official website, since the file I had in the downloaded ROM folder always returned an error as corrupt file when tried to open using Winrar. So I had to go the official site and get the same downloaded to see the contents inside.
But now, having copied the file to the downloaded ROM folder on my phone, I do not see any option as how I can choose the file to get installed. I mean there is no file explorer option given to me, rather Google Drive option. Perhaps I have to have the file uploaded once again on to my Google Drive on my device?

Download again the file from the same site, maybe downloaded to your Google Drive is corrupted and check that the extension didn´t change from .zip to .rar or FlashFire won´t recognice it. Winrar have to be capable to open it otherway the file is corrupted.
When you are sure that is the correct file If you had a stock recovery then you can install it through update option in settings/about device/updates from miui menu

Huawei Mate 10 Pro system update.

Hey everyone so I have a BLA-A09 c567 (US) I got this phone used and it came with the bootloader unlocked. I managed to get the code and relock the bootloader at a later time. After going through the settings I noticed that the system update feature is still gone? I thought after relocking the bootloader and factory resetting it would come back. Is there something I am missing or will I not be able to receive OTA updates now? Please give me some guidance and thank you!
What's the status of the phone when you got it aside from Unlocked BL? Is it rooted?
You should never loose system update regardless of the BL status. I suspect the previous owner debloated it.

They didn't flash the hw/public zip when updating.
Or possibly just removed it, for some reason...
So is there something I can do to return the system update feature? Or should I enjoy the blessing of a free debloat? My only issue is how will I get OTA updates. Can I just use the hisuite app the update instead?
Currently my Bootloader is relocked and unrooted looks like they messed around with the device then just relocked it and unrooted. When I purchased the device it was "like new" used for a week only.
I am on the C567 .119 patch
A flashable zip with instructions or apk would be amazing please help, but if it isn't an issue and I can just use hisuite to update I won't lose sleep over it.
Also is there anything important in the bloat zip besides system update?
I had the same issue when I flashed my phone with 119. I extracted the update ap apk from the hw zip file of 119, attempted an install, but it will not work. The app is in the play store but won't install on the phone. I will try to pm you the apk

It won't install by using the package manager.
You can however download the hw zip file and flash it through TWRP, this requires unlocked bootloader and TWRP.
It will show a bunch of errors when installing through TWRP but the hw_init folder is copied successfully to /data/hw_init/
You can find it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77248270&postcount=72

For some reason, in TWRP, I cannot see the contents of my sdcard. I wiped the data partition when I flashed the 119 zip files using huru, so I don't know why I cant see that directory.

Try going to Mount and unmount then mount Data again.
Or just mount if it's not mounted
(If you are encrypted and not using Pretoriano80's TWRP you won't be able to anyway as it would require either TWRP with decryption support or decrypting by Format Data then edit fstab and remove encryption. Dont Format Data now as it will wipe your /data)

I unmounted and mounted and I now see a bunch of folders whose name starts with a (.). I am using twrp version 3.2.1.0, which is the same version as BLANC, I believe, which is for unencrypted data.

If it's just a bunch of random lettera/numbers it means your are encrypted. You could switch to https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/huawei-mate-10-pro-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769904
Just flash it and reboot recovery. You will get a Pin/password input prompt, input your pin/pw and it will decrypt.
You can use adb to push the image to /data:
adb push twrp.img /data/
Then select Install and tap the dots to go up a level, go into /data, tap the Install Image button, scroll down and select twrp.img.
Or flash using fastboot as thats easier xD

Thanks again. I did not know that we can flash twrp using twrp itself. Weird.
What pin/password is to be used?

The one you use on lockscreen
When it's done, transfer zip to sdcard and flash.
As I said, it will error and say it failed but it does copy hw_init.

Try entering it as numbers. Pattern would look like this in number mode:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
I guess you could just remove pattern temporarily if your only goal is to flash hw
@ante0/culi
I flashed the twrp blanc, and as able to see my downloads. Cool. I then flashed the update_all_hw.zip file and it errored out at the end of the script with a write data error update_huawei_pkg from the zip file.
E:unknown command
Error installing file
Nothing else gave an error
EDIT - disregard..I rebooted and I see that I have the system update app now AND, it found the long-seeked 119 patch, which I installed. Cool. After the patch was applied, the phone rebooted itself into recovery, I saw it run some script, and then it rebooted into system. Weird. The phone, however, still shows the version as 119, and not 119 patch 01 or something.
RE-EDIT - redisregard. THe version shows as 119 patch AND the themes got installed from the zip. Ok, so it looks like I now have a complete version 119 US variant of the stubborn and cumbersome Mate 10 Pro. Though I read that an update came out yesterday with the August security patches.

Yeah, flashing hw/public zips will give errors. This is because its supposed to be installed using Huaweis update binary. So twrp can't process the commads.

R U sure you selected zip and not img from twrp? Twrp might be looking only for img if that is so.
File manager in twrp is no different than standard file manager , only zips or img are visible.

From what i read online (but could be totaly wrong) twrp files are the system files whereas android file explorers are internal storage.
I figured out how to access my system files but its read only so I cant paste in zip

Need to "swipe to allow modifications" when you first time start TWRP
You'll be able to flash SuperSU then.

Place the SuperSU zip file in 'Downloads' directory on your phone (there's no way it won't be visible in TWRP) do button combo ,enter twrp -swipe to allow modifications (so it's not 'read only') ,navigate to Downloads , select the 'supersu . zip ,swipe to install. There's literally no way it can fail.

I cant mount data folder in TWRP without wiping first so the data is empty and i cant see no downloads
I got an sd card and now I can locate the file, I flashed it but it failed and my phone couldn't boot so I install the Samsung firmware with odin. Will wiping before flashing fix this?

If it were my phone , upon booting to twrp I'd wipe system data and cache(s) formatt data and flash a rom /root!
Since you got twrp ur bootloader is unlocked so u should be good to flashmagisk or latest SuperSU without issue. I'm not an expert. Sorry for the delayed responses this oppo phones are crap.

I watched a tutorial and the guy in the vid doesnt wipe before flashing but after supersu is install he taps on the "wipe cache " or something like that. So I have to do that and will my data be erased?

You phone should be rooted if you have twrp and flash the root zip. You don't have to wipe cache
The device may reboot 1-2 times after you flash the root.zip but you should be ok.
