Auto answer text messages - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hello
Been an iOS user since 2007 and today I got my first Android phone. Love it.
I was wondering if it exists a message app that will let me auto answer a specific number with a specific text.
I have unlimited data (sim card in router) but every 25 GB I need to write "TOPUP" to get access to further 5 GB.

You would probably be needing Auto SMS or a similar app from the playstore.

Greenify Background Data Sneaking?

Hi all
I have been a user of greenify for a long time. However, I recently noticed something weird. Although the developer says he does not collect information, it seems otherwise. I first noticed it 2 days back on 5th Feb that its using a lot of background data. So I even opted out from the anonymous collection of information. But still I see that its constantly draining a lot of data in background.
As you can see from the uploaded image its using 148MB from Jan 28 to today (Feb 7) . I'm asking the developer to answer why so much data usage and what data is he collecting.

@oasisfeng please respond to this.

That's interesting. I just checked, and greenify isn't using any data.

You seem to be having a freak issue. I am also using Greenify for a long time. On checking now, I see that it consumed 74.88kb in foreground data and 831kb in background data from 12th Jan till date. This should be due to checking with Playstore on the donation package status.
Uninstall and reinstall Greenify after clearing data and recheck consumption before starting to demand explanations.
Just to confirm that I also have very low data usage, less then 850KB for the last month total.
While I myself hate to be in a position to doubt the developer, u can see from the attached image why m I freaking out. I'm on unrooted device with accessibility turned on. So u can imagine my worries. Secondly this is only my data, I checked my WiFi usage as well. There also it has used 48mb in background. I have already restricted background usage so no need to uninstall for me. But as a user, I need to know what's with so much data.
Secondly, don't tell me that uninstalling will solve the issue. I, myself a developer ( not a noob) , know very well, if there is a bug then no matter how many times you install uninstall, won't make a change.
FYI I'm using the free version(non donation) package.

What I don't get as well, why would it need a permission to find accounts on device.
Something to ponder upon don't you think?

For checking if the account has donation package maybe?
This is not the data sneaking you are looking for....
Greenify is only using negligible data (4.7 kb) and (4.75 kb) on WiFi between Jan 27 and today, Feb 9, so nothing to report here.
.....move along, move along.
Same here, 48 kb between 12 Jan - 9 feb. I can't see any pattern in your favor.
Mine is only 13.28kb since 14th January 2015

I'm afraid it should be a rare issue, as seen by other developers with the integration of Google Analytics SDK with their apps. The team behind Google Analytics still haven't investigated this issue out.
The only part involves background data usage is this Google Analytics SDK and it should be completely turned off if you opt-out in the About dialog.
The SDK is closed-source, so I could hardly analyze this issue. At present, please use the background data usage blacklist before I could find the clue on that.
Very sorry for that, buddy.
@op, it must be a bug.. Just reinstall the app. @others without Internet the app can't check if you have donation version everything you open greenify app.

Same issue.. Is it sneaking?
Hi,
I just noticed, Greenify consumed almost 1.41GB in a span of two to three weeks.
I have attached data usage screenshot... I don't have any idea about the data it used. Is greenify sneaking data.

Medication reminder app not working, help please

I gave my parent a Honor 7, and I installed a medication reminder app in the phone to help to remind my parent when to take his medication.
I first installed an app called "Medisafe Meds & Pill Reminder" from Google Play. After setup everything and test it on the spot by creating a dummy medication and set the time about 5 minutes later. I then locked the phone and watch. The app reminder does appears and everything seems normal so I let my parent start to use it on daily basic.
However just after a few days, the app fails to give any kind of reminder again. I tried uninstall and re-install. During on-the-spot testing it works fine but in real usage it just does not give any reminder at all.
So I have given up and tried another app called "My PillBox(Meds&Pill Reminder)" from Google Play. I did the same setup and testing like the previous one. Unfortunately the same issue occurs for this app as well, in real usage it fails to give any sort of reminder.
Out of my curiosity I try to install the "My PillBox(Meds&Pill Reminder)" in my own Sony Xperia Z3 and it working perfectly fine in my phone. I do a few trials and errors with the Honor 7 to determine what actually went wrong. I find out that, if I was to clear the app from the background, then the app will never give any reminder. If I was to keep it in the background, it will work fine.
That is quite annoying because in my Xperia Z3 this tedious procedure is not needed. The app works in my Xperia Z3 regardless of whether I let the app running in the background or not.
I then install "Autostart and StaY!" in the Honor 7, so that upon boot up the medication reminder app will automatically launch. However since my parent has the habit of clearing the background app, so as soon as he did this action the medication reminder app fails to give reminder again.
I need help on how to make this medication app work normally in my parent's Honor 7. Work normally as in the case of my Xperia Z3, where it works regardless of it is in the background or not.
Can someone offer any idea on what can I do to solve this issue? I am not sure whether this is an app bug or the Honor 7 OS bug.
And can other Honor 7 user try this medication app on your own phone and see whether it works normally in your Honor 7?
Remark: My Honor 7 is not rooted. I do not intend to neither because my parent is not a gadget geek.
Maybe you should add the application to the list of protected apps? You can find this feature in settings.

Hi there.
Yes I already make sure I did that. But it does not help. My battery management is set to Performance also, so everything should be running at full mode.
My cousin encountered the same problem with What'sApp. The problem was that he had the habit of killing all background apps manually every once in a while. Even if the app is protected, killing it manually leads to nog receive any notification. After some tests, I noticed that Whatsapp was the only app with this behaviour. Killing Facebook for example didn't change anything and notifications appeard anyway.
I don't think that this is your problem bu I discovered that this is due to bad coding from the developpers. Just try another medication app should do the trick.

Thanks for sharing the info.
I am currently facing another greater problem, my honor 7 suddenly can't be charged while it is turned on. I am going to open another thread regarding that to ask for help.
As for this medication reminder app thing, after I sort out that charging problem I think I will give it another try on other medication reminder app. Hopefully I will bump into one that works with Honor 7.

There are some applications, that demands your phone to be rooted. But i think here a normal reinstall to the application can work. If not, just reset the phone. If you don't want to, look for an alternate application.
This is very serious, you need a proper Mobile App
Friend, this is very serious you need a good pill reminder app for your parent.
I suggest you approach a Mobile App Development Company with a very strong portfolio for your requirement. Space-O Technologies is one such company you should look out for. Do fill their contact form for a free consultation.
I wish you all the best.

Can't change default SMS app

Hi there,
I recently bought Oppo A57, a great mid-range smartphone. I tried to install my favourite messaging app, i.e., Pulse.
However, there is a strange issue I am facing while making it the default SMS app from the settings. Even though I manage to successfully set it, the app accesses all the permissions etc and works pretty well until I recieve a text message. Right after it a prompt pops up and says "For your messages security, System message app has been set as the default message app.". It is quite annoying!
How can I change that security?
Kindly help me to resolve this issue.
Thank you.

No, I got Redmi device. Oppo will never allow other ROMS on their devices.
Also to add some more detail regarding the issue; I rooted my device and disabled the System Messaging app using Titanium Backup. It worked but I would always receive same prompt that I mentioned on receiving a text message, but this time it wouldn't revert back to the system app as it's been disabled. Moreover, I tried Xposed frameworks as well to hide that system prompt but had no luck.

You can't, as far as I know. They have restricted apps like SMS or Dialer to be changed from default. It isn't possible to change in Color OS 3.0, F5 Youth has upgraded version so you should try it. They might have changed the restriction.
Go to:
- settings -> additional settings
- application management
- default app management (located at bottom)

first of all i have rooted my oppo a57.
After root i have an app named as "device control". I used this app to delete my default sms app.
And than i use luckypatcher to make my custom sms app as system app ??
thats all
Glad to hear that, @dilwash_rind
I have completed the first step, I have removed the built in Messaging app, Now next step seems difficult to me because i could not understand it.
I have installed the Go SMS Pro as 3rd party sms app and i have also installed Lucky Patcher.
Will you explain a little bit more that how to make GO SMS Pro as default Mesaging App?

Google Play Services eating too much mobile data...

Hello everybody, I have recently bought my new Xiaomi Mi A1 and I have got a serious problem. Mi A1 is an Android One phone - has stock android. Currently I'm running on version 8.0 Oreo. My operator gave me 100 MB of free mobile data, yes, you heard right, only 100 MB. When I turn on my mobile data, Google Play Services eats a lot of them... I've reduced mobile data in the background for GP Services, but that didn't help, I've also disabled automatic updates on Google Play and disabled sync and disabled location with backups - none of these helped. Is there any way to reduce the usage of the mobile data? I really have small amount of them and only thing I use is Messenger, but these Google Play Services keep eating them a lot... Thank you.
PS: If I click on details of Google Play Services' mobile data usage, it shows that most of the data used "Misc"...

Do you think that those VPN apps can solve this? Can they reduce mobile data usage of system apps?

Well, I am not sure but maybe yes. Messenger app from Facebook is somehow connected to Google Play Services - when I started using Messenger Lite, the problem disappeared. After using Messenger Lite, Google Play Services stopped using my mobile data. Not completly, but it uses waaaaay less data than with standard Messenger app.

The problem is that many apps use google play services components for their function. Any data consumed this way is accounted to play services. You can see some breakdown when you inspect it, but it's not complete.
If you restrict background play services data, some things will not work (hangouts)
only way to really save data is uninstall apps which "might" use them, or disable data when you don't need it.
I can live through a month with 300 mb, if I don't do anything.
Which country do you live in?
Have the same problem - in spite of being on WiFi almost all day, and rin Google Services disabling "allow background data usage", and having data saver on it eats a whopping 700 MB of mobile data in just a couple of weeks. Every month apparently since it's overrun my 1 GB data limit since the beginning of the year. That is with no updates, and no Google play store activity. All of my other apps combined including email and browsing use only 100 MB of data - and that is in a whole month - and on WiFi only as I would expect given my phone settings. Only way I could stop the data hemmorage was to disable mobile data altogether and disable Google Play Services. So now Google Play Service complains at random times day or night that there is a server error - in spite of the fact that I forced a stop and disabled it. It acts more like malware than a useful app. Anyone find a solution?

Hidden bloatware

When using the cleanup function I see WeChat for a second - I don't have that app installed.
I know that it's the Chinese equivalent of Whatsapp but personally, I find it quite worrying that it pops up eventhough it's not installed. Does anyone else have this?

This is so weird, as much as I like the phone, I'm sending it back.
I assume you got a Chinese variant? I didn't find any suspect apps...just the usual Huawei's own (I have the Canadian version LYA-L0C).
Still, you should be able to uninstall anything you don't want using adb.
There's no WeChat actually Installed, as.another member pointed out on a previous thread, WeChat usually leaves a lot of junk behind so this is really just a precautionary cleanup tool for those who might have it installed.
