For those of you who were waiting for a ****sung custom stock kernel for NN here it is also for the Bluetooh errors I have a fix for that and the Wifi should work but I don't know exactly so let me know if it works also I have a solution if you want selinux full disabled. https://github.com/AdrianDC/kernel_permissive_patcher/blob/master/release/kernel_permissive_patcher.zip
However you can change it with the command line only flash that zip if you want it fully disabled forever.

Do I flash the permissive kernel zip if I'm making a custom kernel? How does it work?
Edit never mind I went ahead and flashed it to my s2 tab and it makes it permissive while getting rid of the enforcing option very nice.

Sorry fellas. Just waiting for a friend who helps me with the building. Camera doesn't work but that is definitely on the list.
Thanks and sorry for the wait. Soon as I get the clear, I'll update OP.
Thank you so much, will report back as soon as done.
I'm happy I finally got to install, Nor audio calls neither Soft keys, text messages are working same as data, youtube, music, chrome, this a good beginning.
I installed the version 3 from the link given (S6 Edge +)
Thank you again.
Thank you so much for your Note 5 support
Updated OP guys.

Hello and thanks for trying.. So it eventually booted? Supesu can cause those kind of reboots while it sets up. . The cm was was made for Tmobile and international.. You could try to make sure apn is right and change your data connection. Like from 4g to 3g. Sometimes that triggers it. And what modem are you using?
not sure what modem I'm using. Can you point me to one that may fix the issue? also I downloaded the rom you mentioned in the op and it booted with no reboots with your kernel. Reboots happen when I use a cm rom from the sprint side

Then it would probably be due to the sprint CyanogenMod. I can't tell you how stable they are as I have an SM-N920I.. But if you tried the other Cm. Do you get data?

Try checking your apns and that they are correct. And changing.. If that doesn't work.. It might because of sprint device. Fingers crossed.

Hello guys! After a few months I decided to look into building a CyanogenMod Kernel for our beloved Note 5.
It is very much a work in progress and any issues should be reported here, please make any backup efs back ups, and nandroids
Link to download cm13 by rainbow dash. Please download this first and then download this kernel... As that is what I am using as my daily driver and if you have random reboots there are ways to fix that. Just report what is making you reboot and I will help you as much as I can. It is still a very beta build!

Some apps don't work unless you personally remove it's libs and stop them from generating. (eg chomp sms on message send)

[UPDATE!] Due to unforeseen things. I must upload it as a boot.img download it and flash it via twrp and make sure to be able to view Img. Update will soon follow with a proper zip. No AOSP builds/ROMs on 7.0?

Hey guys, I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'm wondering if anyone else has compiled a flashable Aosp or near-aosp build of android 7.0? I'm currently on PureNexus, and I'm looking for a very minimal ROM as it's the only way to reduce the lag on this low memory device we all know and love (hate?). Thanks!

I'm 100% with you on this. Minimum is best. I was wondering where the homecooked 7.0s are too.
Way too soon for a stable aosp build.
You'll probably see a flashable, pre-rooted stock rom appear first. Often these are tweaked, debloated etc so can be quite minimal.
Experimental aosp builds will likely emerge soon too but if you're the type to moan about roms not appearing fast enough and the low memory of a device you bought then you likely won't like bugs either. Maybe wait for a bit.
I wanna post mine - but GApps FC (some location provider error) and I am looking for a fix. This commit didn't fix it and I thought it might!

Ok finally got some time to play ---- fastboot is my friend LOL!!!
I used fastboot to wipe and start over w/ a clean tab -----> Only way I get root with my rom at current build is using twrp ---> flash my rom w/ stock boot image, flash supersu sr1 2.78 ---> bootup got root. That's all I can find that works. @USBhost Do you have an N k that allows root??? Do you have any idea what is going on with this??? BTW --- Trying to install as system install causes bootloop for me. So the only option I have at the moment is supply stock boot image and systemless root and w/ the rom. PITA

Is the only benefit to have magisk modules on stock rom? I have XT1806 rooted TWRP r9 Gladius Magisk 14.3 flashed this kernel but kept booting straight to recovery...had to do a full restore. I'm looking for custom kernels that provide speed and power benefits. Thanks

Just a note on kernels
I've tested many many kernels on many devices. When they are configured the same, performance/battery is about the same. Any difference was slight enough to be considered noise in the test methods. I always suggest to learn about kernel parameters then tweak it to the way you want. Any kernel will give more performance, or battery life, or anything between - all depends on how you configure it.
Ps - same device, same twrp, supersu instead of magisc, no problems. Except seems not compatible with ex kernel manager - it doesn't apply settings. I believe it doesn't set proper permissions to be able to write. But hey, it's young and a stockish kernel, hope to see more.

Here's a link to GeneticEngineer's AFH-hosted original kernel from the TWRP thread. I don't think he'll mind it being reposted in this thread. This should tide people over until you can iron out the bugs in your build.

A stock based kernel isn't gonna play well with custom ROMs, unless your secondary ROM is a stock ROM? I plan on creating one for cm-14.1+ based ROMs too.

I found oreo and pie roms for our ultra on androidfilehost but after flashing I am not able to get the touch working. I tried the last build of your oreo version, after i had done this solution to fix the touch issue https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...t/fix-fix-touch-roms-6-0-6-0-7-x-8-x-t3884411
I run the rom for half a day, and the touch worked fine using the solution above, i only had problem with the sim card, the rom doens't recognize it so i can't have mobile network and make calls, and i lost my imei too, another problem that i ran to was that the camera didn't worked too.
beside that i didn't have any problem, but i came back to RR 5.8.3 since i couldn't use mobile network in this rom.
I would love to at least have a custom Android rom oreo stable and functional but by the way it will take a little longer for this to happen
...
I'd tried your touch fix but got no luck on either Pie or Oreo ROM. The touch screen got no work even in the recovery.

i wasn't using those roms anymore because in the oreo version the camera doesn't work and mobile network too, the
9.0 version didn't work either, it's always in bootloop, but i flashed the oreo version again and the touch fix
using philz recovery and twrp and the touch worked like a charm as i said you just need to wait a few seconds, the
purpose of this fix is to fix the touch problem within the rom and not in the recovery, if your recovery doesn't
have touch is not something that this fix or i can do sorry. But i can guarantee that this fix works in this oreo
version because i tested it myself after a clean flash, please try again and tell me if it worked for you.

or maybe for someone that just want to use Pie and doesn't care about mobile data or something.
Installation for Nougat/Oreo GPT
BACKUP YOUR FIRMWARE, EFS AND INTERNAL STORAGE IN CASE OF THINGS GOING WRONG!
Install Oreo V20A or V20B firmware (may work with other firmware idk)
Restore Pie System TWRP Backup
Install F800L Stock Pie Boot Image (pie_boot.img)
Install H990DS/SS Stock Pie Kernel (H990DS_v2.0-BETA#-v20bcustom.zip)
If you already have V20A/V20B Stock Oreo, you can upgrade without wiping data.
Known Major Issues
Modem reset every few minutes.
No Mobile Data.
What has been tested and works ON MY PHONE
Call, SMS, USSD, Wifi, Camera, Bluetooth, fingerprint, data upgrade from Oreo.
v415 adreno drivers, thermal mod flashable zip, magisk 20.3.

No,Kernel is just pure bare stock f800l sources compiled + minor dirtysanta like lcd panel dtsi stuff from mk2000 and its build script.
I was surprised that f800l kernel sources has h990 defconfig that just works fine as is.
It also boots with stock oreo mk2000 I think.

+1thanks fpr the tip... im going to try it again on my extra v20.. i restored the twrp nack and tried to flash the default boot img and it was stuck at the boot image
What about port to other variants?
Should we see pie on the V20 after all? :fingers-crossed:
That would be terrific. Thank you very much lybxlpsv for making the effort and tinkering to make it work. When bountyman is in as well, I'm confident that the V20 Will have a working pie ROM in the end... Thank you so much guys for taking care of this one!
Great job! Will test your kernel on pure F800L stock pie to get root.
Another question. Can you also compile same kernel but with F800L config? Cause we still have no root on stock pie rom.

here is one built for f800l with eng aboot, untested/at your own risk since I only have h990ds.
and please let me know the safe partitions to flash on pie for eng aboot.

I'm sure we all (remaining V20 users) would love to see this for all variants (us996 here).
Thank you @bountyman334 and @lybxlpsv for putting in some work.
Does the HD Recorder works? This looks very interesting for people who don't want to lose multiple stock apps going to Lineage, thanks for your hard work!

Yes, all the stock apps work as it's a stock rom
For whoever wants to give us a hand with porting you can come here:

Eventhough I don't have V20 anymore, I'd still love to see the future of this project. Good Luck
Trying with H990SS. I will update this post.
With H990SS kernel, it gave me kernel panic. I tried with Gamma Kernel, it booted very well bu on setup screen it says "Settings keep stopping." and cant setup.
works "fine" on my H910, but I can't proceed with setup as the wifi won't go on. odd.

you need to replace bcm firmware files in /vendor from your oreo rom.

Did you do anything extra to get it to boot on the H910. I'm on US996 and it either hangs or kernel panic.
edit: never mind, was never going to work when I seem to have only copied over half the twrp files lol
hi, is this good for a daily driver for h990ss?
I understand there is a problem with the modem?
will I be able to flash a modem from nougat / oreo?
Ignore
Is this still getting worked on? It would be amazing to see stock pie fully working on the h990.
