How to disable the fingerprint reader from being a home button when navbar enabled? - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

When the navigation bar is enabled, the physical home/fingerprint reader works as a home button. Normally this wouldn't be a problem except when you accidentally hit it or when you're trying to unlock an app with your fingerprint and it sends you home instead.
I don't understand why huawei wouldn't add a setting for this.
I know that using gestures instead of the navbar would disable that button from functioning as a home button but emui 9 gestures just feel half baked.
P.S. I do not have root.
Thanks!

It doesn't do that on my mate 10 pro. Navigation bar is, of course, enabled, screen gestures (apart from the frickin search thing, which just doesn't go away) and the little movable thingy are turned off. Pull-down gesture on FP sensor is usually enabled, but I just turned it off for a test -- still FP sensor doesn't work as home button.

@wurstwarenfachverkäuferin, it happens only on standard Mate 10, pro version is not involved. Unfortunately, I didn't find the way to disable this feature.

DP, please delete.

You could put app in the appassistant And turn on the mistouch prevention function.

[Idea][App] auto rotation switch

Hi everyone,
I usually leave my auto rotation turned off, but when I want it in for a short period (eg to watch a video horizontally) I have to pull the status bar down and select it, then turn it off again.
I was thinking it would be useful to have a shortcut or gesture such as double tapping the status bar or screen to toggle autorotation, or maybe keeping your finger pressed on the screen as you turn the phone as a temporary toggle.
Is there anything like this?
Power Control Widget (surely you already have it).
Yes but a gesture is useful, because when full screen videos are playing you have to press home button, toggle, then go back to it. Is there something like activator for jailbroken idevices

Search for "Tasker" in the Play store. I'm pretty confident it can do gestures, it's a pretty awesome app if you like customizing stuff like that.

Are you annoyed by accidental navigation key clicks?

I am using a Galaxy Nexus. Most of the time, keys on the navigation bar are not touched by accident. But when playing a game I often touch the soft key accidentally. Because many games require to touch controls on the edge of the screen, which is very close to the navigation bar. iOS, on the other hand, does not have this problem, because apps use the full screen, and there is one hardware button. Also, I often accidentally swipe up from the bottom to launch Google Now, when actually I wanted to scroll up. There is no menu to disable that swipe up action, except disabling the Google Now. I want to use Google Now but not by swiping up. I would prefer just a icon on my home screen to launch Now.
I already saw some custom ROMs have a feature to toggle the navigation bar, but I think there must be some official solution to this. The solutions I can think of;
1. The custom ROM way. Add toggle menu to the power menu.
2. Make the buttons as physical buttons not capacitive buttons.
3. Add another physical key on the side to enable/disable navigation bar.
4. Swipe from left to right on the navigation bar to lock it. Swipe again to unlock it.
5. Long pressing Home toggles the navigation bar. On first long press, the home button is changed to a lock icon. To unlock the bar, long press the lock icon.
6. Or Google Now is launched by long pressing of the multitasking button.
What do you think? Do you have the same troubles?

You can kinds of disable it using SwipeLaunch Disabler.

Honestly probably all nexus owners experience this problem although I personally give it up for awesome stock launcher and features and being able to easily hack it.

Double press power button for camera?

Hello,
it seems the option to double press the power button to launch the camera is not available on the Oppo.
Do you confirm, or did I miss it somewhere?
that's a pretty convenient feature I miss
There is just press and hold power key for 0.5 sec to get google assistant.
Yes found this one. Sad
Hi,
There is a camera shortcut in the right bottom corner of the lockscreen and you can activate the camera by making a O gesture when the phone is locked.
Oppo made some strange choices in the OS though. ColorOS, well at least the international version with Google backed in, isn't all that bad. But activating the camera is one of those things that is restricted. You can launch almost any app from the lock screen by gesture, but when it comes to the camera Oppo decided for you you have to draw a O. A simple swipe up would be a lot faster and the camera is one of those things you just need fast every now and then. Still the shortcut and O gesture work well enough in my opinion.

Navigation button problem

It's been bugging me for a while, I was occasionally getting no response when hitting the home button (traditional on-screen navigation) and think I've figured out what's happening.
If I hit the button with a slight upward swipe it shows the Google assistant/shade animation but doesn't perform the button action. (I'd tried disabling assist, turning swipe navigation on/off and even resetting the tablet but nothing had any effect.)
This is on an 8.4 inch tablet with the Pie update and I have a feeling that the problem didn't exist before, can anyone still on Oreo confirm that this issue doesn't exist with that or anyone on Pie confirm that they are also being affected.
I have a feeling that the code to detect the swipe gestures is still there when using traditional nav but set to take no action.
If it affects others using Pie, I'll log a support ticket with a Huawei.
Thanks...

Question OnePlus gestures on Pixel

Hi, i have already tried LSPosed and AOSP Mods but i didn't find the same gestures of oneplus. Expecially the possibility to lock device by double tapping on a blank portion of the screen or "write" some letters when the screen is off ( for example: V to turn on flashlight or <, > to control audio, etc). Is there another module i can try to make those things?
Hey there, long time OP user here too, missing the gestures and alert-slider.
Im using button mapper app for music control with volume buttons and double click up volume button for flashlight which can replace the OP features. Pixel also has double tap back for camera in settings.
