Need help with a truly bricked Galaxy S ii - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I have an SII GT- I9100 that I installed a custom ROM on a while back (probably 2 years ago). After a while it got badly bricked I don't remember what happened, and not only that
the charging port was also messed up so I couldn't connect it to my pc (pc wouldn't recognize it unless I held the cable in with force, but even that didn't work after some time).
It's been sitting on a shelf for about a year and I decided to buy a new charging port, replace it, unbrick it and give it to my mom.
I did replace it and I can connect it to my pc now but there's still issues. On my main windows 10 pc it gives me an error "USB device not recognized, the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it". (I've reinstalled usb drivers and troubleshooted with Kies).
I keep the phone in download mode while I am trying to connect it to my pc since I can't boot into anything (I have a yellow triangle and Samsung logo if I don't go into download mode).
On my laptop (win 7) I've managed to get windows to install all the drivers(even though it failed a couple times ?), I've also troubleshooted with Kies, still Kies can't connect to it.
I want to restore it to stock ROM but I haven't been successful. First Odin gave me "setup connection" error but then I rebooted the pc and it "worked".
Now it just says complete (write) operation failed.
I've tried 3 different Odin versions, nothing.
What bothers me is that Odin says "Added !" but everyone online to the people with similar issue says that they should reinstall drivers or talks about USB Debugging (which I can't turn on or off since it's bricked).
Sorry for the long post but what's the move here? Am I using a bad ROM ? I've tried one for the country I live in but not the country from which the phone is ( I don't know the country, might be Austria), could this be the issue ?
Thanks in advance!

Update, I may have found the right ROM, now it's stuck at boot.bin
EDIT: Found a youtube "solution" to that, then it got stuck at cache.img
EDIT: Getting Driver issues again, Unknown Device :/

connection problem with odin and PC

I have a problem with connection my wife's ACE with ODIN / PC. I'll write you a few facts to help you in helping me.
I've flashed phone and rooted (odin detect it and I could also connect to the computer as mass storage).
Even after uploading the new firmware, I could copy some files to the phone.
And here is the biggest problem ... I do not know what happened but something started to go bad (crash with applications, root disappeared, there was an old version of the firmware - I have no idea as possible ... the phone uses the wife and children ).
I tried to clear the cash and fix permission - and in this operation, the phone has crashed.
I decided to flash it again.
I did all the cleaning and format factory.
And that was the end of my adventure - because when I want flashign, odin does not detect the phone. Phone is not not detected as a computer disk.
After a long time of connection by usb cable, Windows pop me up by standard error "encountered a problem installing your hardware ..." "one of the USB devices connected to the computer improvement may not work ...".
Checked on a desktop and laptop.
On both of these computers my other phone (SGS) works correctly and is detected - using the same cable (so cable and ports and drivers are ok).
Could you help me please?
Kies should install the drivers when you plug it in. But during flashing, you need to close kies.
It's not the issue. Drivers are work correctly because other phone is detected. Kies is close.

The problem started with 2 & 5 .
You probably flashed a new stock firmware , which caused root functionality to disappear .
In number 4 , fix permissions should only be used if a few system apps keeps force closing
In number 6 , factory reset isn't needed unless absolutely necessary
I'd recommend you to go to www.sammobile.com and download the firmware that you were using
Then flash it with ODIN
Emo,
but my only one problem is, that ODIN dosen't detect my ACE. So this is my main issue: what should I do, to reinstitiute a possibillity of detecting phone by odin / PC.

It should detect your phone
Try ending all Kies processes by using Task Manager

this is your problem. Uninstall your phone in Device Manager and install it properly by downloading the standalone USB driver for S5830. Google for it. This happened to me on Win XP. On Win 7, the native/vanilla USB drivers worked fine.

[Q] Nearly Bricked My Device - Help Please

So, My SGS2 was fine, just a few problems with connecting to my MacBook Pro (bootcamped Win7 & Odin), but after a few attempts it would always connect. I tried to update a rom to the new leaked ICS build via Mobile Odin, but something went wrong and all the charging images failed drawing.
Anyways, yesterday I tried to flash a recovery image via odin, to get back to my NAND and it failed halfway through (dodgy connector on SGS2).
Tried it a second time, and failed on flashing kernel.
I can access download screen, but windows refuses to recognize the phone, installing drivers for a "unknown device".
Tried flashing a kernel through OSX Lion and Heimdell, but it keeps failing to either find a device in download mode, or "claiming interface failed"
I've brought a new cable, but i have a feeling my USB port on the SGS2 has gone. Any help? Insurance most likely won't cover because it now says (2 Custom Binary Downloads) and they don't cover, and surely warranty has voided too.
Please help?
I will make a donation to the the person who can help me.
new leaked ICS build via Mobile Odin
Thats a test pre beta build guess its the problem .
Looks a usb driver problem that what you try .
remove Kies reboot reinstall Kies connect phone in download mode and let windows find drivers .
jje
try reinstalling kies. Or better yet use another computer for flashing. Can you boot into recovery mode? If so try flashing a custom rom to try to boot up your phone for the mean time

@JJEgan
Kies idea isn't working. My guess is the fact its 64bit Win7 on MBP bootcamp.
Or at least I'm hoping. Won't get to a desktop computer till monday, so had to buy a cheap backup phone.
@ephraim033
Flashing the new rom removed recovery, and can only access download mode.
I just get a screen saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".
So far, I have noticed I either restart the computer (after uninstalling failed "unknown device" driver) and/or leave it for a while, and bam, it searches for drivers for the phone when I retry , but it seems to be related to pure luck with the positioning of the cable into the phone.
I have cleaned it several times with canned air and computing alcohol (i wont dare spell the name of it, and don't have the bottle to hand right now) so dust and debris is not the issue.
Edit: the failed driver comes up with "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)" so I'm guessing i have to uninstall and reboot each time I try?
SOLVED. Have found the issue. Uninstalled KIES and all drivers. MEGA DEEP clean with a brand new dry tooth brush (infront and behind the protrusion within the usb port on both the phone and laptop).
Several reboots on both phone and laptop.
Second try, installed serial gadget and Samsung drivers automatically, installed CWM.
Many thanks

[Q] need help might of bricked phone :/

I have a s 2 i flashed a Lightening rom XWEK7 and it worked fine all day until a hour ago when my phone froze and restarted it self and now it wont recognize being plugged in it will go into download mode on the phone but still wont come up on the computer end. And is currently not going past the screen that says " Samsung Galaxy S 2 GT - 19100 and the yellow triangle at the bottom.
Need help ASAP as is my work phone.
The main thing is you can get into download mode. Get stock firmware from here if your carrier is listed, if not get country specific firmware here and flash that in Odin.
Edit - I just re-read your post & realised your PC won't recognise your phone. Uninstall/reinstall Kies so you have the drivers in place for Odin to recognise the phone (drivers might be corrupt ?). Make sure you kill off Kies in task manager before you attempt to flash stock firmware in Odin. If you find the PC still won't recognise your phone try a different USB cable/different USB ports (I know there's only one port on my laptop Odin works on), failing that try a different PC/different version of Windoze. And if all that doesn't work, you might want to try Heimdall. Search the forum, plenty of posts on how to use it (never used it myself so I can't guide you in the use of same).

Help! Soft or hard bricked, tryied everything

Hi everyone, i hope to find a solution writing there, since i'm kinda desperate about my situation.
So, i got this telephone, a s2 I9100g, but only the day after i noticed the browser was in chinese. Looked up a bit better inside and i found it is a chinese version of the telephone (original one, but made for chinese market).
So i tryed to pull in an original rom, but it failed; i found a guide to how to fix this problem, and become able to flash the italian rom on it.
Basically, i followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1702479%22 I did all the steps using the CHN version of the bootloader and.. i know, i was so stupid there, but since it got stuck at NAND writing (i did not see the progress bar after 15 minutes), i simply unplugged the cable.
Well, after that the phone didn't enter reset/download mode, but it started showing the yellow phone---!---pc screen, with wrote above "software update fail", and something else in chinese.
There is what i tryed to do:
-Flash another rom (tryed 2) with different versions of odin, 1.3,1.6 and 3.07.
odin does recognize the telephone with the drivers installed, but if i start it, it gets stuck at setup connecting phase and failing after. Same with all versions.
-use OneClickUnbrick, i tryed to start it normally and from CMD.
with the drivers which odin and windows use to recognize the telephone (last ones available on samsung website), it says "usb drivers are not properly installed attempting to install drivers". So, it starts Zadig. I follow the steps there, and the installation completes succesfully. But at this point, when i plug in the telephone windows recognizes it but fails installing the device with drivers, and odin doesn't recognize it at all, while oneclick keeps showing the "usb drivers are not properly installed" window, time after time even if i keep reinstalling with success the drivers using Zadig.
-delete everything and install Kies.
none of the programs above does see the telephone now, neither windows.
Tryed to follow the steps i did before after having it installed, nothing changed.
Every of this tryes, i did the following "changes":
-removing and inserting the battery
-changing usb port
-changing cable
-changing computer
-trying to enter reset/download mode by holding vol up/down+mid button+power
Would be enough to make odin go over the setup connecting phase, or kies to recognize it, or OneClick to stop showing the window about drivers.
I read that seems i'm in a hard brick case, but since the phone is seen by odin and windows and the battery does recharge, i got still a bit of hope.
Thanks
Click the link in my signature, there's more troubleshooting steps to try. You've done a few but not all of them.
I would usually say that pulling out the cable leaves you with no hope, but you seem to have gotten a little lucky. Don't hold your breath though.

You can either keep trying or take to a service centre & pay to have it fixed *shrugs*

[Q] I9300 won't boot, has no recovery mode and isn't getting recognized by Windows

Hi guys, I need some help with my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300.
A couple weeks ago my phone turned off by itself and never turned on completely again. If I turn it on, it stays on the very first boot screen forever (the white text saying Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, like this one (https://cdn-images.xda-developers.com/direct/1/1/5/2/1/9/8/I9300.bootlogo.jpg).
I've removed the SIM card and the MicroSD card with no effects whatsoever, and I've also left the device turned on for hours but it always stays on the same screen.
I cannot enter recovery mode (it just shows the boot screen mentioned above) but I can enter download mode. At download mode, I get this info:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-I9300
Custom binary download: No
Current binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Oficial
As you can see, I have never flashed a custom rom (or rooted or even unlocked the bootloader). This is what intrigues me the most, since everybody I've seen with the same problem had trouble during or after a flash.
My last OS version was 4.3.1 and it was received OTA months ago.
In the past few months, my device rebooted out of nowhere, even when I was not using it. Occasionally, it had the stuck power button, which caused it to reboot on a loop, but I always solved it by nudging the power button a little. I don't know if these two previous problems might have caused the problem I'm facing now, but they're not showing up anymore.
Anyway, I've tried to flash the newest official rom (NK1 - ZTO) via Odin but I always get a NAND Write error.
I've tried changing USB ports, USB cable and computers; tried Odin 3.04, 3.07 and 3.09; tried Samsung USB drivers v1.5.45 and 1.5.49 but nothing of the above made any difference.
Today things started getting worse, though. In the past, Windows would always recognize the device on at least one specific USB port; Odin would also recognize the device and then I would get the NAND Write error. Now, Windows will not recognize the device no matter the cable, USB port or driver version. I only get a unknown device error and Odin won't recognize anything connected.
I tested all my setup with a working Galaxy S3 I9300 and it got recognized every single time, no matter the USB port, the cable or the computer.
Considering that another device is getting recognized by different computers, I suppose that the problem lies in my Galaxy S3.
So, can anyone offer me any kind of advice or point me in any direction on how I can try to fix my phone? Is my phone physically dying and no software solution will unbrick it?
Your power button issue has corrupted/damaged the nand memory. Try the dead boot recovery thread in general forum but unless you have warranty you might be better off with a new phone.
I was afraid of that.
I checked the post you mentioned but it seems I'd have to buy tools and hardware more expensive than the phone itself, so I'd rather buy a new smartphone.
Thanks for the help!
