I don't suppose you managed to find a battery upgrade? My phone is still working really well after three years and want to keep it going. I'm generally happy with it even today ?

Restore original firmware

Howdy people,
just picked up a strtrk over at expansys.
1.Im thinking about flashing one of the better roms out there, but would like to know if I can recover the current rom on the phone and back up in case there is an issue down the line.
2.I had two instances where the phone locked up on me and the only way to get it out was to do a reset.(well the second time I waited 30 seconds and it recovered) .Both cases I just dialed and number and couldnt hang up .o button response nothing... any ideas?
3.Battery - The battery life plain sucks .I had an archaic T610 before this guy and that got me at least 3 hours of talk time .This one ..an hour if Im lucky. Is it possible to clock it down to save battery?
Im still within my return period on the phone and Im really digging the idea ofa open hackable device but I fear I may have under-estimated the quirks..
I know there are a bunch of roms around.which one is recommended?
proirities being phone usage stability ,signal strength, battery life.?
Thanks,
keba

Where to buy replacement/extra batteries for the 4.0 (USA)?

Hello,
I was looking for replacement batteries a while ago and I bought one that (in the beginning) that looked like it would work. Then, I realized the battery I bought had a different manufacturing date than the actual release of the USA 4.0.
Yesterday, my device kept rebooting with this new battery in. I took it out and replaced it with the old battery to find that it worked again.
Is this new battery a fake or an incompatible model?
Thanks,
Trae

What was the problem and where did you get the battery? Does it have the same capacity as the stock one or higher?

The battery caused my phone to bootloop and restored my device to stock. It was weird; however I bought myself a 5.0 and I don't use my 4.0 anymore. It was the same capacity but it might have just spazzed lol.
I got my battery from wirelessground.com but don't worry, I don't have this problem anymore.

[Q] Help Me Please, Urgent!

Hi, i was hoping you to help me. My phone is getting crazy.. I had a custom rom, the cm11 weekly build, and then i started having troubles with random reboots. Suddenly, my phone with 100% battery powers off and stays that way until i noticed that, then i power on and i have 1% battery and it turns it off. I thought it was a OS problem, so i installed the stock rom to see if it would solve, but turns out that when i'm around 60% battery it reboots again and again, and there's a flicker on the screen. I tried to root and flash another rom, i tried to keep it off for a few days, i tried to drain the battery as fast as i could but it doesn't solve it. So i'm thinking if it could be a battery issue, maybe it's kinda dead.. What do i do? do i buy a new battery or maybe it's another issue? Had anyone had a similar problem? Would it be possible that the companies on purpose make the phone to get crazy after a couple years as a strategy to sell more? Sorry for my bad english, and thanks in advance for your help.

doesn't hurt to try a new battery, they cost around 10 dollars, and no, phone companies don't do that as a strategy to make you buy a new phone. They stop officially updating your phone to make you buy a new one.

Exactly, i was scared because where i'm from (Argentina) the phones are just impossible to buy, way too expensive. And there's no even the newest phones because the government don't let import/export whatever we want, so it's gonna be hard for me to get a new battery...
I would get new battery and test it for a day then flash different ROM , stock for few days then any good rated ROM

Samsung Galaxy S III battery problems.

Hi there, and this is my first post I'll be writing. I came here because I'm aware that members here will have large amounts of knowledge about modified mobile devices etc. Anyway, I'll elaborate on the issue I have.
My brother bought himself a Samsung Galaxy S3 (LTE) device last year, which was secondhand. At first, the battery in the device wasn't quite up to scratch, but still charged correctly. In the past 11 months now, he flashed several ROMs on it (I can get a list if necessary) and now, the last 3 months, the phone has just became a dying mess. It would not charge when in a charger (it would continuously drain, mainly when in use, turned on, and had a SIM card in it).
He has a supposedly geunuine version of TouchWiz 4.3 running on it now. I received a new battery for it today, and factory reset the device. At the moment with a SIM card in it, it is charging as it normally would. Any ideas?
So the new battery's working properly?
The phones almost 4 years old - it's hardly surprising that the original battery's on its way out.

Well seems to be charging, I haven't installed any apps on it yet.
I had problems with my battery also (draining), and bought yesterday a new one. This one took a while to charge. I can take a few days when its fully calibrated by the phone, so it work at it best capacity.
hello guys, is 2 year enough of a battery life? mine is draining like hell while gaming and its 2 years old. What do u suggest, should i buy new one?
my phone's battery was more than 2 years. But AFAIK, we should replace batteries after 2 years.. so yeah.. buy new one.
sorry bad english.

Camera crashes, fingerprint does not work and battery drains way too fast

Hey folks,
I've been having few issues with my phone since i bought it brand new the day it released in Germany (I am not german however, haha) - sometimes it would be slow, it would overheat and apps would be crashing because of that.
In november last year, I decided to try and solve that headache (honestly not worthy of the premium price I paid for it when it was new) by unlocking the bootloader and flashing a different kernel (not sure which one now). All seemed well for a few days, but them the fingerprint scanner stopped working (hardware not found), camera would freeze the phone for about a minute before restarting the whole UI, the battery would drain at a stupidly high rate (1 hour screen on time would leave me with 50 % battery in the afternoon, and I am not even doing anything system heavy) and the bluetooth was as buggy as before (the notorious terrible range of it). :crying:
So i figured the kernel was at fault and decided to flash stock firmware from Sony. I tried 3 different stock firmwares and oh my god, It's still there. I think unlocking the bootloader has inflicted all this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to get rid of atleast the fingerprint and camera problems? I am almost certain I will replace the phone soon for something else, but for the sake of trying to fix what was wrong from the factory and for the fact I might want to sell the phone, I want to make it work. I don't think returning it to the store for a replacement would work, since I managed to crack the back glass at one point last year and they'll just refuse it for mechanical damage ...
Thanks for any suggestions. Phone's not rooted, I could not figure out a reasonable way on how to do it, I am not very skilled in this regard, even though I had rooted my 2 previous Nexus phones (speaking of which, I miss my Nexus 4, but no 4G and bad battery made me change to Sony).
Aaaaanyway, I updated to 7.0 Nougat from one of our nation's carriers and so far so good. Will keep you posted, especially if things go south again. :cyclops:
