I want to unlock bootloader. Do I need to activate find my phone? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

I want to unlock bootloader. Do I need to activate find my phone?
Frankly, I want to root my device and the first step is unlocking the bootloader. Do I have to have my find my phone on? What if it's odd?

Nope. But you have to register an account on Mi Cloud to unlock the bootloader. It has 3 days waiting time.

@cylent
In addition to the above, you have to link your phone number to your account and make a request. Xiaomi checks your activity for a couple of days to ensure that you are a genuine customer who bought the phone and not an unauthorised retail dealer. Then 72 hours after making the request, Xiaomi grants permission if it is satisfied. So it may help to keep the Find My Device option on during the period of Xiaomi's check.

My problem right now is this.
My latest is 10.2 global stable. Android pie.
Now, there are many recovery images. I am afraid of bricking if I were to use the wrong recovery image.
Also, which decryptor to use and magisk?
If you have this info please link me. I'd be appreciative.

You're confusing me. First you gave me the link to twrp which disables encryption. Great. So I do that first. Correct?
After that, Do I reboot into bootloader and flash the magisk then?
The problem is this is my primary phone and I have lots of important things on it. I don't wanna make mistakes.
I am even thinking of buying another poccofone, root that and transfer stuff to it then leave this as backup.

No need to re-activate or login to the account. Flash TWRP with adb, boot back to TWRP and then in TWRP flash Magisk. Boot into system. You should have Magisk Manager installed automatically and find it in the app drawer. If it is not there, download the Manager apk and install it. That is all.

ROOT and ROMs support?

Hello there.
I'm thinking about buying this phone, but I'd like to know:
1. Is it possible to root the phone? I haven't found any info on xda, but there is something here --> http://en.miui.com/thread-215325-1-1.html Can someone confirm that it works?
2. What about ROMs? I see that most of the Xiaomi devices have some (mi3/4 even have official CM support), here the section is empty. Is it not possible to develop ROMs for this device, or is it just a matter of time?
3. Is the bootloader locked?

Yes. This firmware saves me when the system is on my phone falls in the experiments. How to flash is here to see (only drivers easier are put, without such problems).
Or you can put the firmware via adb-interface. So I put my localized and tweaked version.
With unlocked bootloader yet like no one - Xiaomi needs to receive the approval to unlock. A request for this here (Xiaomi account needs).
Hi Guys, anybody succeeded in rooting v7.2.4.0?, i also need to know if there is a way to make google play as default app store
Think we'll need the global rom with no Chinese app store installed for Google to be a default.
Think either miui or xiaomi.eu sites there is a rooted latest version.... Not sure though

This guide explains how to flash stock MIUI roms. You have a few options for root. You could flash a global or China beta/dev ROM which have an in built root which can be enabled. You could unlock your bootloader and install TWRP then install superSU. Or you could just try an app like KingRoot if you trust it enough.

I've done it with the China dev/beta rom and that is what's recommended. It may be possible on the new global dev but I'm not sure and so can only recommend the China dev/beta. Once unlocked you'll stay unlocked so you can flash whatever you want straight away after. Just make sure to backup/sync any data first as everything will get wiped when using the SP flash tool.

It was a simple and normal question. I don't bully you or anyone else here. It's better if i ask you before you brick your phone or something. But anyway, it's your phone and your choice.
Global dev rom works, I unlocked mine early this week. You will need to fill in the form for permission from Xiaomi hxxp://en.miui.com/unlock and wait for an activation code for your Mi account before you start. You'll also need that account on your phone. It absolutely will not work on Global Stable, trust me, I tried!
The Global Dev rom doesn't have root enabled, so you'll also have to install TWRP (from cofface) there is a good guide in this forum somewhere, then flash SuperSu from there. (the official version works just fine)

Thanks for confirming, I unlocked using the china dev rom and enabled the built-in root. I could then use flashfire to install cofface's TWRP recovery and did a wipe in TWRP to start afresh without root.

No reason why it should not work on 8.1.3.0. Just look for the bootloader check in developer settings. If it's there and you can link your account you should be good to go. Always worth a try...
Latest Supersu is always available on Chainfire's website download.chainfire.eu. Flash via TWRP. It's not specific to A ROM or device.

Bricked Mi 9
Let me get straight to the point before I explain. I bricked my Mi 9 (had it for weeks but didn't use it till I got the bootloader unlocked) and it doesn't boot into TWRP can only get it to fastboot no matter what I tried so far. Installed an unofficial TWRP there are two types with practically 0 differences. This Mi 9 is the global version. 6gb 128gb storage
So I wanted to try Xiaomi.EU ROM as it's a debloated version as some would say. but that had a nasty camera bug, status bar notch looked cramped and unpolluted as they tried to minimise the bar. Some apps from the playstore wasn't installing like the DJI mimo app, it would just cancel halfway through the download. Then I completely forgot that my fingerprint scanner won't work on my banking app anymore, since the bootloader is unlocked. Google Pay also suffers from that and I know you can use magisk etc to sort out most of the problems like the fingerprint scanner and Gpay. So after discovering these issues, there are far too many to deal with now. I'll just go back and try something more clean and that's where all the mess began...
I haven't rooted in a few years so I'm very rusty at half the stuff that is happening. I know bits and bobs but that was with my Nexus and Pixel phones. Mi 9 is my first official replacement and I thought hey let's get back into mods etc. If only I had more knowledge on what to do. I will still try to figure it myself, so I potentially could help others but I fear I won't get far.
Anyways tried to get it back to run a beta version of the latest global or stable and so the last thing I did before all things went to . I went to TWRP and advance wiped dalvik, cache and data and was specifically told not to mark sdcard and another option which was there. (This was a thread I was reading, can't remember which site) now the phone completely 'ded' as in it is now stuck in the bootloop and doesn't go anywhere else besides fastboot. How I went about flashing TWRP and trying to install magisk was using the XiaoMiTools V2 which did some of the work (unbrick feature isn't available yet on the toolkit). But after the wipe I did, the toolkit doesn't recognise the device and MiFlash also doesn't seem to work although with that I think I get weird prompt like something didn't go well and I'm maybe not doing something right although I believe I have. Because the phone has been wiped I don't have ADB debugging on the device and I believe that could have been a solution for me to wiggle out of the mess. So I'm desperately looking for the community to help get my Mi 9 fully operational again. Anyone out there?
Only thing fastboot seemed to recognise is when I'm flashing the different two versions of twrp.img
Looking forward to your comments.
Hello friend, I have the same problem as you. `` The system has been destroyed''. I wanted to know which Chinese version you have used, because I have the EEA V10.2.17.0 and I do not know which Chinese version to use, the ones I downloaded have given me an error. Tell me who you used your thanks. If you could make me a little guide, I would be very grateful for more than 10 days without my mi9 .. @PRolo

Bit of an old post to reply to... But did you manage to fix your problem? Did you note down the build of the original ROM that was on your device in the first place?
Thanks for this post, sadly my new Mi9 is in the same condition. All I did was update to lastest EEA-ROM (which was offered automatically by system right after setup), registered for BL unlock and finally decided to Factory Reset and start afresh as did not recover data from my Google backup.
Right now I cannot use recovery mode as the recovery also throws the "System destroyed" error (presumably because the update did something awful with the recovery).
As the mentioned method does not work in fastboot mode I am a bit at a loss on what to do - besides waiting for the BL unlock timer to do its thing (which it hopefully will do despite the fact that I don't use the phone ATM). I tried a lot of tools and hints but so far with BL locked its a no-go

No, sadly I don't recall that. Presently I cannot recover any info on the version with fastboot getvar all, the fields are empty.
I think I can remember the update had something with a "9" or "19" in it - but the "9" would mean a global ROM instead of an EEA which I expected (the phone is marked with global, though)... I do recall Google Update is from 03/19...
Well, what a mess...

Looking for Root Guide for Umidigi F1 ((SOLVED))

Hello all
I recently switched from a Huawei Mate SE to the UMIDIGI F1 because turns out Huawei has blocked any means to unlock the bootloader (bastards). I've seen that Umidigi is more friendly in this respect so I was wondering what procedure or website you guys might recommend to follow to root the F1. Google brings up a few results but I would like to know from other's experience which one they think is best to follow since my expertise running adb is null (all my previous devices have been rooted running some app never directly from adb). Thanks for any help.

Until the is a fully functioning version of TWRP for Android 10, this is a moot point. At this time, TWRP is not fully functioning with Android 10. That isn't a Oneplus incompatibility, it's an Android 10 incompatibility.
That being said, you don't need TWRP to root your phone. Since Oneplus released the factory image, you can use Magisk and the "Boot Image Patching" method.

I realized I was looking at the 7t image, not the 7t Pro image. I guess you will have to wait a little longer until the 7t Pro image is released. Sorry for the confusion!
Any idea when they should release the code?

Installing TWRP is just one command.
But don't bother, it's useless as of right now on devices launched with Android.

There's been so many changes in Android 10 with partitions and such.

Surely if it were that easy we would already have a TWRP

it just seems I should have gone for Oneplus 7 Pro instead of this device. Is there any possibility of getting TWRP in future (with OOS)?

Yes, it just takes time unfortunately.
Regarding decryption, no idea to be honest.

With that in mind, could our OP7TP be flashed with the OP7P rom, and then with TWRP for OP7P?

No, different partition system. Both build very differently

Is there no way to delete the existing partitions, create a partition suitable for flashing an OP7P ROM, and then flash a fully working TWRP? I am more interested in doing NAND backup/recovery than I am flashing ROMs; Being able to do both would be a plus.

You can repartition your phone like an 7 Pro, but its very risky and something msmtool won't be able to revert/revive.
You have to use others which I don't think are even available for us.

As a possible solution, do you think that it might be worth looking into?
