unable to flash T820 - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

trying to help a friend who's SM-T820 wifi started to fail. Switch it on, it spins for a while and switches off. (stupid me) I did a factory reset. Upon boot, it says someone tried to do a factory reset, please sign in to confirm. Well, can't sign in because wifi wont turn on....so on to ODIN and stock firmware tried T820XXU1AQF3 rom and in ODIN I get FAIL! (Auth). On the TAB it says:
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official, SYSTEM STATUS: Official, FRP lock is enable, OEM lock is enabled, ... SW REV CHECK FAIL : [boot] Fused 1 > Binary 0
Reboot, and I'm back to the please sign in to confirm reset. Can't go to settings to disable OEM lock. Where should I look next?

AQF3 firmware is an older firmware. If the device has been updated you need to use that or newer firmware. You can't flash an older firmware so that's probably the problem.

ok, I finally found the right rom to be able to flash, flashed the BL, AP and CSC images. Rebooted, and it went to: "an unauthorized attempt..." not a problem I know the username and password, but wifi still wont turn on. Ideas?

First, boot into the stock recovery and clear the cache. If that doesn't work then try flashing just the AP in Odin.

wipe cache: same result - an unauthorized attempt...and wifi unable to turn on
ap flash only: same result
also almost every tutorial I see on bypassing FRP lock requires that wifi be working. wifi is not working for some reason.

ok, so maybe a combination ROM for T820XXU2BRJ1 will help, that is the stock that is installed. Anyone know where I can find that?

If you're looking for the stock firmware go to updato.com. It looks like the bootloader was unlocked at one time? Can you bypass the initial setup and get into settings? If so see if developer options is there. If not see if you can get to about tablet, software information. Then tap build number 7 times. That should initiate developer options. In there allow oem unlock. But, if you haven't gotten the firmware from updato get that first and flash it in Odin.

I can't bypass the initial setup. The initial problem was that wifi wouldn't turn on, (spins for a few seconds then turns back off). I have tried visual assist, select a word, keyboard settings, but cant seem to make the jump to regular settings to be able to get to dev options. That's why I'm asking for a combination rom, I've heard that they have the engineering features I need to jump straight to settings.
of course if there is another solution I'm all ears

I'm not familiar with combination roms but I found this, https://www.hardreset.info/devices/...-tab-s3/faq/faq/samsung-combination-firmware/. Maybe that helps? If you could get into developer options you could enable oem unlock and possibly flash a custom rom. I was going to suggest rorymc928's rom in the roms, kernels, etc section.

have you fixed it? it's easy all you need is to flash the combination firmware to remove the FRP lock (by resetting to factory settings from combination firmware) and reflash stock rom after that, no need to unlock bootloader to do all this.

Do you know where you can get the combination firmware for the t820?

ok I was able to get past the FRP lock, finally. Now we're are back to the original problem. Turn wifi on, it spins for about 30 seconds and turns back off again.

[Q] Unfortunately, Settings has stopped.

I keep getting this several times a day. Usually when I do the pull down menu. I've flashed back to stock to fix it, rooted again, and it still there. Then after the update from VZW, reflashed the update with the unlock process. So two reflashes and it's still there.
It did not do this when the phone was new and just rooted till I started trying to add wifi toggle to the pull down notifications. I thought the two flashing methods would fix everthing but it seems not all files were updated.
What is the best way to get my phone back to stock, but need root. I'd like to flash back to factory and see if it goes away. If it does, I'd like to then root.
Something is not right!
I just did this:
Section 1b: How to return to stock 4.1.1 Jelly Bean coming from any rom with Odin
Step 1: Download and install Odin3 from section 1a if you have not already done so.
Step 2: Download this stock VRALJB image and pit file to a windows based pc.
Official VRALJB 4.1.1 12/9/12- http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2040264(This will wipe data and return your device to factory stock like the day you purchased the device. Unlocked and Locked devices may use this to return to Factory Stock conditions! Also, folks currently on the latest L4 OTA only use the alternate restore file as it does not contain a bootloader!)
SCH-I605_16gb.Pit- http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?05cj895zu3tls7z
I have no memory card installed.
Step 3: Power device off, hold the volume down/home/power keys until you see a yellow triangle, then press the volume up key to access "odin or download mode".
Step 4: Open Odin and connect the oem usb cable from pc to device. The driver should automatically install( it did for me on windows 7 64bit). There should also be a "comport number" in upper left hand corner of Odin indicating communication between the pc & device.
Step 5: Click on the pit function of Odin and select the sch-i605-16gb.pit file.
Step 6: Click on the PDA function of Odin. Select the stock VRALJB image you downloaded in step 1, then select start. This operation should take less than 8 minutes before Odin will say pass/reset.
Step 7: Your device should boot back up into factory stock 4.1.1 android!
Well, it worked, have to log into google, setup account, screen tuturials are back, looks completely factory.
However, it just connected me to my home network without asking and it is password locked! How can this be a clean install if it is WPA/WPA2 PSK security and I never entered my password?
This cannot be a factory clean phone.
Please help.

Google backs up your Wifi connections as well as contacts and apps and other BS. I've noticed the google restore of wifi settings to be a bit spotty, but I also found that google thinks I have numerous instances of the same devices, so I think that it starts to get confused. Anyhow, there is no witchcraft going on. After you log into your google account during setup, it downloads wifi ap's and then starts restoring the rest of what it can on wifi.
Later,
Jason
Really, wifi backup. Would have never ever guessed that. Answers a few questions I had. Thanks. Guess my phone isn't spying on me:cyclops:

Flash a factory ROM. But this isn't a "Bell" forum (assuming bell.ca).
A safe thing to do is to install Samsung Kies and use "Emergency Firmware Recovery" to re-flash factory stock. That will return you to stock and hopefully repair your wifi.
You can also flash a no-wipe factory ROM that corresponds to the specific build on your device.

would you by any chance know of a no-wipe ROM build for an SGH-i337M on BELL from Canada? That would help out a lot!

[SOLVED] S9+ Fails to Unlock After Latest Pie OTA Update

Hey all,
My phone updated today and ever since I cannot move past the initial lock screen. When unlocked, the UI appears to crash and send me back to the lock screen. My pin code works for turning the phone off, restarting the phone and putting it into emergency mode, which indicates some sort of UI crash.
Because this is a new account I can't post a link to a video of the issue directly, but the YouTube video code is: 8ZhlH-Tt-NU
I have tried the standard fixes like wiping the cache partition and booting into safe mode, but these don't seem to make any difference. Unfortunately I never logged into my Samsung account on this device, so their 'Find My Mobile' service is not an option. I am however signed into my Google account on the device and it does have wifi/network enabled.
The phone is running PPR1.180610.011/G965FXXU2CSA8
On the phones internal memory is a bunch of photos from a recent trip to Japan, I'm a fool for not backing these up sooner but I would hate to lose them.
Has anybody experienced anything like this before, and is there any way for me to get back into the phone, or atleast recover the photos that I took?
Thanks!
Edit:
One potential route out of this I can see is sideloading the same or a subsequent OTA update using ADB to hopefully fix the issue. Unfortunately despite some digging I can't find any updates that will allow installation from: PPR1.180610.011/G965FXXU2CSA8
If anybody has any information on this specific firmware version (Is it beta 3? beta 4? ect.), its installation path and where files relating to it may be listed/hosted it would be appreciated. Also how disasterous would it be to take a mismatched OTA upgrade and modify the metadata to allow it to be sideloaded onto the phone? I assume this would almost certainly break the OS completely but I'm not too sure.
You can try to flash your firmware again with ODIN, but with the HOME_CSC (Important!)

Thanks for the reply Profi I had no idea using HOME_CSC would retain user data. I have tried flashing a few different versions of Pie (wish HOME_CSC) using Odin but with no luck, every time the phone boots I have the same problem. Do you know if there is a sure way to downgrade to Oreo while retaining user data? I have seen a few posts of people attemping this and getting stuck in bootloops, eventually requrining them to factory reset.
To give a final update on this. I attempted the Oreo downgrade, upon reboot the phone was stuck in a bootloop so I updated to Pie again. When the phone booted I tried the pin code as quickly as I could, and after some glitchy graphics on the screen it unlocked. From here I turn on the stay awake while plugged in feature in the developer options and managed to transfer all my data over to PC.
I don't believe it was the firmware changes that actually made any difference, because any further attempts to put my pin in, to remove the pin code for example, failed and cause the same crashing behaviour.
All data is recovered, I have factory reset the phone and all appears to be behaving as normal again. If anybody stumbles upon this with the same issue, all hope is not lost, but unfortunately I was unable to determine a realiable way to overcome it. It seems in this case it was just dumb luck.
Thanks for the assistance.

Samsung Galaxy A510F bricked... and can't power it off!

Hi, after playing a lot with my SM-A510F it seems that I managed to brick it I did so many things I barely remember But I believe the important things are:
- I had a custom ROM (with Android 7 if I remember correctly). Playing with the options, I accidentally reenabled OEM lock, which triggere the FRP lock and now I cannot boot it.
- I tried installing a stock ROM (not sure if the proper one) but it failed and now it says "An error has ocurred while updating... Use the emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software"
- I tried installing again TWRP to install ROMs from there but the FRP lock does not allow it.
- I tried installing other ROMs but couldn´t find the appropiate one. With some ROMs it throws the error "Sw check failed, Device 4 Binary 1" And with others "Device 8 Binary 7".
I am currently donwloading some more ROMs from other posts I saw but it will take some, so I would like to get some help as I assume the same problems will persist.
Also, how the hell do I force power off? The things I saw didn´t work. If I press VOL DOWN + PWR it always restarts and goes into the Error screen again.
Thank you for the help!

If you can get into download mode it should have a line saying AP SWREV B:? K:? S:?
The B:? Is your bootloader ( binary ) number. You will have to flash this version number or higher. You can not downgrade firmware. Bootloader number is the 5th number from right of firmware being downloaded.
You could try flashing stock firmware and if you know your Google account may let you back in to your system ( requires internet connection ).

Question Odin says pass but no changes

So i'm trying to remove a google account from this device. Tried all ways and is still asking for the same thing - account previously used on the device to continue.
The tabled was setup by somebody and eventually lost access. Tried to factory reset it but no luck. FRP enabled.
Is there something i am doing wrong maybe? Thank you!

It's hard to advise since you haven't said what exactly you're doing.
The more detailed you describe, the easier it will be to help you.
FRP can only be removed on a running system, not by flashing the firmware.
I am trying to remove the FRP.
I thought with the firmware i could reset the tablet.
So i have lost access to the synced account basically. I am trying to bypass the security. Tried to recover the password for the google account but since it was a new tabled with a new account i have not so many informations to be able to recover it.
I have also tried the method with Alliance Shield but i can't access Google Play neither.
Have you unlocked bootloader? It's there in the developer settings as "OEM Bootloader Unlock"
I cannot trigger developer mode. Tried but no luck. No message apears when i tap Build Number or any info about the device.
Are you sure you did it right? You are supposed to tap 'build number' seven times, because tapping once will not help. You may already know the above fact, though
Edit: Spelling error.
I did. Nothing happens. Tapped several times but nothing pops up. I am an apple user this is my cousin's tablet received as a gift this Christmas. He is only 9, tried to set it up himself with the help of another cousin....They forgot the password and tried to factory reset it after.
Also, there are quite a few videos about disabling FRP, have you tried them out yet?
Yes i did ... no luck ... I am taken to different not-so-trusted websites with unknown programs (potentially viruses).
Just found this here where it says to clear cache partitions:
Developer Mode Not Showing
I have the SM-N9600 model on TMO, running 8.1, and not rooted. I tapped the Build Number repeatedly to turn on Developer Mode, and I accessed it the first time, but now it's not showing up anyplace. Also, when I try to redo it again, a little pop...
forum.xda-developers.com
Please try it out as I don't have a physical tab on me. I am sure it will not remove data and such, so feel free to do so. You can access it by booting into the recovery options.
It also says that you can alternatively "Place a Nova Activities widget on your desktop, then, take a look around in the Settings section of the widget, see if there's something for Developer Options."
I did clear the cache several times. Factory reseted the phone also but no luck.
Is it possible for you to use ADB instead of using Odin? I am not sure if it will allow you to pass through without oem bootloader unlock enabled, but it's worth a try.
You also should remember to install adb platform tools and also install samsung dev drivers.
ADB not working neither.
I think I know exactly what is the issue either you should downgrade to FW patch prior feb 22 since KNOX doesn't allow to run developer option unless work environment is set-up. In those upgrades you can use Talkback for FRP bypass.
You can try pro disabler method to enable knox and get developer options then from there.
After disable knox https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ite-emergency-call-factory-test-mode.4502277/
@Abish4i so if knox is removed, dev settings are also removed? Could you please explain it to me if that's fine by you?
Once you get Knox verification done Developer options are enabled by system. You cannot remove knox without adb unless using Root.
When i try to install any apk the settings crashes. I don't think there is any hope for this device ...
Is it organization owned? What is your current FW patch?
