[Q] Notification Delay Problem. - Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Questions & Answers

Hey everyone,
I've been having this awful problem with some of my apps (not all) on my Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite phone, running the 10.2.2.0 Global Stable ROM. Most of the times there's a delay in receiving the notifications - sometimes I get them instantly, sometimes the delay is just 2-3 minutes, but sometimes it's a lot more than that.
I literally tried every single option and guide on how to receive notifications instantly (e.g. this one right [**HERE**](http://en.miui.com/thread-268224-1-1.html)), but sadly non of this fixed the issue. I even rooted the phone, just to be able to convert some apps to system apps as stated in the guide above, but that didn't help either.
Having the absolute same issue on my other phone - a Redmi 5 Plus, which leads me to believe that it's not the particular phone, but most probably a MIUI thing. These same apps deliver notifications instantly on a Samsung or an HTC.
Does anyone here experience the same and is there a fix for that? Thanks!

It's more like an android thing, I've got that in all my phones so far.

It's a matter of MiUI, it needs to polish a lot the issue of notifications, especially for teams that have notch ...

Whatsapp getting killed, other apps too

Hello, guys,
I have had Redmi Note 3 for 6 months now and I have been struggling with an annoying issue.
Whatsapp gets killed after a little time of idleness and unless I kill it in the task manager and restart it, I cannot either receive or send messages. When I check in the running apps section, it is not there so the OS certainly kills it. And just clicking its icon on the desktop, opens the GUI but it does not work unless I force close it and re-open it.
I have had issues with Whatsapp on previous devices - more of the common stuff - delayed notifications, messy push service. This is something else.
MIUI 8 is notorious, it seems, for its RAM and Battery management killing apps and I often struggle with that, too. For example: I minimize VLC to open Firefox. I switch back to VLC - ok, the movie starts over, the app has been killed. This is really annoying and I have turned off all kinds of optimization to prevent it, with no success. I am not sure, though, that it is connected to the Whatsapp issue. Because Whatsapp seems to get killed when the phone is idle for a moment but not when switching between apps.
I rarely use Viber but I think the situation there is the same. I sent a message to a friend and I got no response. I opened the app 5 days later and the response came However, it had tried to arrive 2 minutes after my original message. But I had not opened Viber for 5 days, so...that happened.
Let me know if you need details about my settings. I would be really grateful if someone can share some insight on what might the issue be. I guess if I root the phone I can try and locate the culprit module that kills apps. Maybe edit a config file to disable the killing functionality. It is clear this ROM does not like running apps....
Thanks,
Kiril Ekblad
P.S. I have been on Google multiple times: nobody seems to have that issue.
Disable battery saver
developer options -> disalbe MIUI optimization
MIUI is way to aggressive in killing apps ....
maybe go for a custom rom?
You can follow this https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...de-redmi-note-3-sd-mtk-multi-tasking-t3358433 and see how it`s going with push up notification.
When i`ve used miui 8, i`ve done this things and it seems to work good, but anyway push up notification came with a small delay..
For this reason i left miui 8 (very bad ram management) and flashed nougat custom rom and everything working good
Thank you, all
I have actually tried all of these and all steps in the quoted topic. No difference whatsoever. I would gladly go for a custom ROM bit things have gotten really complicated lately. A coupke of yeara aho I would easily grab and flash a custom ROM. Now when I browse through the ROMs topics here I get frustrates.
Something about firmwares, stuck bootloaders I have no idea where to start.
Oh and I don't want to lose slow motoon and time lapse videos. Do you know of a custom ROM that supports them ans the stock one does?

.
Try clean flash of MIUI ROM or flash Epic / Xiaomi.eu ROM
Thanks, I will have to research on the EPIC/EU ROM.
I am all for changing the ROM as long as I can cope with the flashing and I do not lose any of the significant features of the stock ROM.
By the way, recently - the last several days - I have noticed that on multiple occasions Whatsapp seems to be running - it is showing in the Running apps and still the program cannot either receive or send until I force close it and re-start. Whatsapp web also says Phone not connected.

All apps crashing simultaneously on MIUI

Hey there,
I have had this bug since I first officially updated MIUI when I got this phone (ie. first day). Right now I am running MIUI 9 Global Stable 9.0.3.0 (also updated through OTA) which I believed would fix these issues which started occurring since MIUI 8 .
I have tried factory reset (yesterday), without any success (Happened today morning).
It's not exactly reproducible manually, however it happens every morning (which is even more weird) or at least once every day.
Here's what happens:
1: Chrome stops loading web pages. The new tab page is changed to a complete white blank. If you wait for long enough, chrome crashes.
2: Screenshots stop working. Three finger swipe doesn't work, and from the notification shade, the output pic is a black screen. Hence I cannot provide screenshots.
3: Notification tone and Ringtone selection do not play (i.e preview) sounds, rather display a message "Could not connect to the internet".
4: YouTube loads data fine until video playback, at which it crashes after some time.
5: Messaging apps (such as whatsapp, hike) cannot send message anymore, however in some cases can receive messages.
5: Other apps such as facebook, instagram etc also crash and don't load content and crash.
The only fix is to reboot the device. Which is fine, however, it gets rather annoying that it happens every single day.
If anyone has any advice for a fix, I'd be very thankful.
were you able to find some sort of solution to all these problems?
i am having the exact same issue(s) and have looked it up all over the net but still couldnt find anything relevant.
Download official rom from en.miui.com
Place the zip in internal or sd
Open updater and update by zip.
Tht should fix it
If even tht didn't do it the you'll have to unlock bootloader and install a custom rom
P. S even oero custom roms are available
updated through miui updater but the issues still remained.
one thing i noticed is that if u keep on using the phone when app starts to crash without rebooting then after a while systemui has stopped comes up.
more importantly most of these issues appeared while using hike.
i uninstalled hike to see if a third party app could be interefering with the background processes and voila!
no hangups/app crashes/network problems for 2 days straight.
thanks anyways.
Yep, uninstalling hike fixed the problem for me.
Pretty weird how hike can crash miui haha
The same problem
Hello, guys! I have the same problem and it's annoying. What is hike? Where I can find it? Did you mean "hike: payments" from Play market?

hike is a messenger similar to Whatsapp. If you don't have it installed, your problem is different from ours, which was fixed by uninstalling hike.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Issues

Hello everyone, I have a few issues on my device and would like your opinions on them:
1 - Whenever i get a persistent notification like "Music player (with buttons to play etc.)" or "You're in a call with John <timer>" these kind of notifications, if i press the home button while in the respective app for the notification, the notification sound goes on as if i received a notification. like the notification is already there, but when i click the home button the notification sound "rings" idk why... if you guys go to the music player (any one, i tried like 5 already) and play any song and click the home button to go out of the player, do you get the notification sound? (also happens in calls, messages, whatsapp, etc)
2 - Games on my device use abnormal amounts of data, like Rules Of Survival, it used to consume 5 mb per match or so, now after i updated to B133, it used 13 GB for 2 matches, thats 7.5GB per match (it used only 5 mb before), my friend has the Galaxy s8+ and there it works fine but not on my huawei?
so now i kinda avoid playing any music on my phone, since any press on the home button will make the notification sound go on couple of times on max volume. I also avoid playing games, since the data consumed is very abnormal. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game but it still behaves in the same way, regardless of whether im using data or wifi too. could it be software related?
System info:
Huawei mate 10 pro, C185, 8.00.133 is the firmware i have installed, it didn't ship with it, i updated to it a few days ago.
My questions are:
Do you guys face these issues? or is it just me?
Is it okay if i flash another C*** firmware onto my device? or will that cause problems?
Do you think its a software issue and flashing would fix it?
any advice?

Don't have these issues ... But I don't use a notification sound.
you must have high speed wifi if u download 7.5gig in one match. Thats so weird... I don't know what it downloads. Maybe you can share some screenshots.
Rebranding your device is actually kinda risky if you don't know what your doing. I don't think this should be a reason to do so anyways
The only thing I experience sometimes is that WhatsApp message banners sometimes appear twice for the same message when I didn't read it yet. But no vibration, no sound and nothing connected to the home button

thanks for the reply alfred! can i ask what firmware are you on exactly?
another question please, would downgrading to a previous firmware version (same region) cause any issues?
thanks!
Bla L29 c432 138 (basically same as 137)
I am not sure if u didn't have this issue before updating I guess yes.
Anyways before doing something crazy contact Huawei... Their customer service is usually decent. They should fix it u paid them enough money... If you mess around with firmware you only end up voiding warranty
Please help.. How to do auto settings for page trandlation
Hello,
Please help and advise me on settings such that a page opened in any language is automatically translated to English language which is the default language set On my Huawei Mate 10 Pro. I am unable to resolve this and any help will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.
I got the same trouble with volume set.

Z2 Play Oreo bugs list - what have you found ?

So, I updated my Moto to Oreo yesterday using fastboot method. Quick and painless process.
But after initial setup and check "what's new" I've noticed first bug. Then I thought : maybe we could make a list with all the bugs we spotted ?
Just in case, so maybe we could also keep track when (or if) they will be eliminated ?
So, put your findings there - but I propose that it should be done only by those who already tried factory reset on their phones or complete wipe during flashing. Just to avoid the bugs which come from previous setup leftovers on the phone.
So, my entry to the list is :
- when setting up ringtones - notifications, when I play the selected sound it's most often played back very quietly for the first time, the second time I click the same sound it's played back with normal volume.
By the way, the audio equalizer is working properly now - for me this was the most important change
Found a few.
- Sound glitch is still here, can be unnoticed, but I found a funny thing now. When playing music, with Spotify, YT or similar; you can get a weird glitch in where the sounds goes up and down fast. You need to stop the audio source, and wait few seconds to keep playing.
- Nav Bar, moves a lot so you can really notice when the icons are slightly up or down. I understand why; to avoid damaged pixels, but is funny.
- Nav Bar again. It can be unresponsive, needing to press it twice to allow usage. Solve for this was to start the Moto App, enable the fingeprint sensor and just disable again. It makes the nav bar Works normally then.
- EQ finally Works. But you need to get into a move few options unless is gonna be bass oriented even after you open the EQ settings, you would see a flat config, but the sound match a bass oriented way. Solve is just to mess aroung a Little until is working correctly.
- Moto App Launcher still stops working along with Google. Easy workaround is just Forcing Quit, and go back home. Other workaround for me was being in the Beta testing for the Google. alongside better performance and less problems with Moto App Launcher you can use the Pixel at Glance widget.
So far what I got
Hey there, I've got a few bugs to report to the INDIAN unit of MOTO Z2 PLAY 64GB 4G
1. I've MOTO Z PLAY too and i compared both the devices after the oreo update, in Z i can change the icon shape to round, circle square etc. But it's missing in the MOTO Z2 PLAY
2. I cannot make or receive calls using JIO 4G sim even though i can use this sim on another android mobile MOTO Z and can easily make and recieve calls from there, although the internet is working fine with. MOTO Z2 PLAY
Theae are the major 2 bugs I've found till now..
My Battery life is lower.
ive never seen Batterysaver orange until I updated. Now I have to dust off my TP mod.
Hey guys i need help, i have stock oreo on my Z2. After upgrading it was giving up some issue while on lockscreen and even delay in showing up moto display. then i format my phone and it all well, then i installed greenify and gave it access via adb commands, and the passing of lockscreen again start giving issues, i revoked the greenify commands and still it is giving the same lag on passing lockscreen and drlay in moto display to appear. Can i do something other than full format and without loosing my data.
Mine's performance and battery life have actually improved. I get 6+ hours battery life throughout the day, something I never got in nougat.
The only thing I've noticed is that the screen sometimes doesn't wake up when I pick up the phone, but it's very rare and it also happened to me in Nougat.
So far so good.

Yeah, the battery is now amazing. First day i got 9h SOT and 20h total. With less usage I get 40 hours with 5,5h SOT! On Nougat it was like 24 hours and 6h SOT.
The only issue I have is that Moto Key force closes sometimes.
Is it normal, that gmail syncs like every 10 min. and that on Oreo this is shown in the Statusbar?
I've found the Nav Bar unresponsive, too.

Same here, went back to FP navigation, and that's a pain with Screen protector installed....
P2P feature
P2P feature not working for YouTube or Google map or any app
I also have this issue, PiP is not working for me, there is no option in settings for this but the specific for every app, and for all of them it is active. What I have noticed is that the camera image seems to be more "dusty" like with a higher ISO this did not happened with Nougat, I have not verified image results after photographs. I also have a very impressive battery life.
I don't think this counts as a bug, but it is something that is making me crazy since I upgraded to Oreo:
-"Ok Google" detection now only works when the screen is on (if "trusted voice" is on, it will work in the lockscreen, but never when the screen is off).
The option related to "Ok Google" detection changed from "anytime" to something that indicates that the screen has to be on. I had a Moto X (2013) some time ago, and something that I loved about that device was how I could ask google to do some things even if the screen was off. I loved that about my Moto Z2 Play running Nougat, and I didn't expect it to stop working like that with the upgrade.
Does anyone know if it is possible to make it work with the screen off like before? Thanks in advance!
Thank you so much for posting this, you saved me man! I was just about to tap update before i saw this post. The only reason i bought a Moto Z2 Play in the first place is because it was one of the few phones that allowed OK Google detection while the screen is OFF. Very sad to learn they removed this feature in Oreo, though now i think i understand why everyone is reporting better battery life. In Nougat a microphone was always listening for "OK Google" and thus constantly consuming a certain amount of power. According to your post this is seems to no longer be the case.
I doubt that this will ever be addressed so i won't be upgrading to Oreo, having to approach your phone for Google Assistant to acknowledge voice commands is unacceptable, and the fact that only some flagship phones allow it is an embarrassment.

Clear data of the Google App.
I'm on Oreo on the Z² Play and Ok Google works just fine with the screen off.

Also turn it on as a "Trust Agent" in settings-->security, if you have a screenlock.
You'll also find Moto Voice's Screen unLock activation there. if you use it.
I am scared of upgrading to Oreo since i have no sure way of knowing if i my phone will lose the ability to recognize "OK Google" when the screen is off. If i suffer the same fate as ClowReedd there would be no way for me to roll back and i would lose the functionality i bought this phone for in the first place. Motorola support is incapable of understanding the difference between a phone that can be unlocked with "OK Google" when the screen is completely off and a phone that can achieve the same only when you manually push the power button so you can see the lock screen. But to be fair there is no company in the world whose support is capable of understanding this, i had an extremely difficult time selecting a phone to purchase because of this. Multiple Samsung employees for example would either claim a certain Samsung model that i know has this capability doesn't have it, or claim that a phone that i know doesn't does. Google is also of no help, i have tried to find a list of phones with this capability and got nowhere. Most flagships have it( though some do not), but most midrange phones do not. Which is the only reason i bought a Moto Z2 Play.
Hopefully ClowReedd will respond whether or not clearing the Google app data fixes the issue, since if it doesn't nothing can be done. Google provides absolutely no support for it's assistant other than copy pasted responses online from what i have to assume are bots.

Exactly how many people have reported such an issue? If it was common, Motorola would probably know exactly what you are talking about. Have you searched the MZ²P forums? how many posts have you found?
'Special'...
The ability for Google Now, to unlock phone and carry out tasks/commands. Is the User Agent, as I posted above.

Well we already have 1 report in this thread, and it is not hard to imagine that a detail like this would go unreported since i am not even sure if it is a bug. Also a lot of people including yourself don't even know the difference between Google Assistant(i am guessing that is what you mean by Google Now) being able to unlock the phone and being able to wake and then unlock the phone when the screen is completely off.
Most people do not care one way or the other which is why this change could easily go unreported, assuming it is indeed a bug and not just an intentional change to conserve battery life.

if you look hard enough, you'll find ONE person who's phone exploded.
These forums are for solving problems, not to alleviate your FEARS.
Many things MIGHT happen, there is no point clogging up the threads listing all of them.
If you have a problem, let's solve it,. If you are worried your phone will attract lightning ?, there's no helping you.
Handsfree is important to me, since the 2013 Moto X, (I've had many Moto phones since), It's an invaluable function when phone is lost in the couch cushions.
You are thinking too hard, and making assumptions, I know exactly what you are talking about. Waking the phone and unlocking it are lumped together, what good is a feature that wakes the phone but doesn't unlock it (it can be optionally restricted), likewise what good is handsfree activation, if it can't wake the phone? it seems redundant to spell that out!
Google Now, was the original name for the Google Assistant, phased out last year, let's not nitpick.
BTW: it's fairly easy to go back to Nougat, should you desire it.
Regarding Picture in Picture mode, particularly for Youtube - this is a limitation that Google has put in place that only USA users can access, unless you purchase Youtube Premium. Can confirm PIP works with VLC media player. Netflix only has PIP with 8.1

Help! WhatsApp and other Apps notifications don't deliver when phone screen is locked

I noticed this about 2 months ago when I updated my phone. Notification doesn't deliver at times or slow especially when the phone screen is locked. Only default SMS app delivers notification in locked screen. Other apps such as WhatsApp and Yahoo mail don't deliver notification especially when the screen is locked until I opened my WhatsApp to see messages sent several minutes ago just delivering. This doesn't happen at all times but I noticed this happens most frequently when the screen is locked. Please, I need help I don't know what is wrong with the phone. I'm on SM-G965F.
Same problem here. I tried excluding WhatsApp from battery optimization and nothing changed.
I'm on SM-G9650 with latest software updates. Same with whatsapp.

This is very bad of a Samsung phone bought with over a thousand dollars. I really feel sad about this. It's just make the phone useless.
Guess we are the only ones? I find it hard to believe...
