There isn't one for EMUI 9, you could try and get an APK from someone with 8 not sure if it would be compatible and it wouldn't install as a system file.

The original Huawei messaging application is the only one installed on the Chinese version of EMUI 9.
I was also looking for it since I got that phone...

If you are rooted you can install easily. Check on firmware Finder

i am totally new to the android world and i bought a cheap brandless phone to play around. However it runs only android 6 and i realized a number of apps do not run on it.
can someone be kind enough to guide how i can upgrade to the highest stock android possible?

stock android updates are rolled out for devices and sent to them as OTA Packages, in the updater app or in settings etc
And specify the Device name and the brand name for it.

that is why i am desperately trying to change it to stock android.. is there a way to force it?
if the device is brandless then there won't be any custom development for it, you shouldn't waste your time for this device, I would recommend to sell it off.

no not according to me because there won't be any active developers for it who would compile the android firmware.
