Enable Dual SIM+ MicroSD on Android Pie [47.2.A.4.45] - Sony Xperia XZ1 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi
There were some changes in Android Pie vs Android Oreo when it comes to enabling Dual Sim plus SD Card
in Android 8 we could simply edit the /system/build.prop with persist.radio.apm_sim_not_pwdn = 1 after assisgning permissions chmod 644 /system/build.prop
In android 9 we have to edit the /system/vendor/build.prop and chmod 644 /system/vendor/build/prop.
Credits go to this original post https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x/how-to/how-to-enable-dual-sim-memory-card-t3664408

How do you use both dual SIM and SD card? Isn't the slot for either or, not for both at the same time?
Is it possible to but both a second SIM card AND a SD card in?

I got one of these and used double sided tape to stick the adapter onto the sdcard slot

Of course there goes your water proofing but you could always go single sim if you are headed anywhere wet right?

Hello, I'm very interested in doing that on my samsung S8. My adaptor stops working after android 9.0 update...

Hi is your device rooted? In general you can find this file in /root/system/vendor/build.prop or /root/system/build.prop
The text is similar across models and brands but as I do not have a Samsung S8 I am unable to provide more confirmed instructions

[Q] Problems connecting to Wifi

Hi All,
I've been having a few issues on my S3 with connecting to any wifi network for a while now. I've tried 3 different ROM's (Samsung JB, CM10, Codename Android) and countless modems (currently back on BULG2 all with no change in behaviour). I've also been messing with the build.prop but have restored to stock again (see below).
The issue is when I go to connect to any wifi, I see it on the list, press it then it instantly loses all but one bar of wifi signal and sits there saying "Connecting..." then flickers back to the "Secured with WPA/WPA2 (WPS available)" screen and retrys... This goes on in a loop.
Any ideas how I can fix this? I've exhausted my ideas and Google...
Many Thanks - Trev

Flash back to stock ICS via Odin and then reflash CM10 etc I had this problem and it worked for me
The stock ICS out of the box is LG8
And for future reference, never edit build.prop, That only makes more problems

Thanks - I was dreading that answer but I reverted to stock and re-upgraded to Codename, all working rather nicely now. I'll leave the build.prop alone now, I was just having a play to see how much trouble I could get in )

He's Polish, so i guess it's the European version? My next question is; should i update or not? I'm on the GPe ROM now and i've used KitKat for awhile, so should i do it? I love the GPe ROM, but i should probably try the new update - but i can't make a backup of the GPe ROM (well i can, but it's not that straight forward), so i'll end up in a pickle if i want to go back...

Why is that? Can't you just make a nandroid backup and then go back if you don't like the update?
I mean, it's a matter of going back to stock, relock, and eventually unlock again, install recovery, recover the nandroid backup...
Or have I missed something?
BTW, Italy here, no OTA or PCC updates...

I suggest you to wait for ftf and then try to flash... Also prepare your stock rom ftf (not zip - new radio for 4.3.A so probably you will not be able to connect to network). Don't know about bootloader... And when you download ftf start from flashing kernel only and see if it will boot.
STILL I'M NOT SURE IF FLASHING FTF FROM C6833 IS GOOD IDEA - DON'T KNOW DIFERENTS BETWEEN C6802 AND C6833 IT MAY DEMAGE YOUR PHONE!!!

Nah, it's not that easy. I can't backup while i'm on this boot.img (can't mount system), so i'll have to find another one. When i've backed it up i'm left with a non-funtional NAND backup unless i use the same boot.img after i've restored it (if it restores it at all). I have no idea why this happens, so if i go back to stock and regret it, i'll have to start from scratch again when i flash the GPe ROM. It's super fun.

Yeah that sounds real fun. Almost like smashing the screen with an hammer. XD
But hey, you DID start from scratch the first time you jumped on the GPe wagon, so that's like part of the deal...

Search for "CREATE OWN ROM FOR ANY ANDROID DEVICE" in this forum, I cannot provide the link as I am a new user
Maybe you can make a ROM out of your working tablet to flash on the bricked one...
Good luck
