"There was a problem parsing the package" - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a bunch of apk's stored in a microsd card but one day it stopped working. So i did a quick format and recovered all the files with recuva.
I had a backup of some of the lost files and even though they both seem identical (I only checked the size of the apk) none of the recovered apk's work. They all throw an "There was a problem parsing the package". Anyone knows how i can get the apk's working again?

I started with a new g tablet when I turned it on it wanted to do a update. I did not do the update from viewsonic. Then I loaded cwmod then then VEGAn-GE-7.0.0-RC1-Harmony-signed.zip. All went well start unit and I was able to goto and download from the market with no issues even downloade new flash from the market and worked very well. When I was useing it the market started to force shut down when I went to install app. it progessed to do force shutdowns.
So I did the proper sd partions reinstall vegan still same cant even get passed the google sign in in the begining. I then downloaded and load the tablet back to stock with cwmod when in the stock mode I did get force shutdown when I would mount the usb but that was the only time. Now I started over with cwmod then vegan still samething. Any thoughts would be great thanks.

this works for me...happens once in a while...i'm surprised its not known more widely..many people seem to do a complete wipe to get ride of it
from another post:
I noticed at least two people in this thread have had this problem. The following worked for me... At one point I started getting this error also. Driving me crazy! Could not bring up the keyboard, and the message would pop like every 5 seconds. I searched and found this post (thanks and credit to KinkyMunkey):
process com.android.acore FC and how i fixed it
I didn't want to wipe data, so I tried it. I couldn't use ES File Explorer for this, but Root Explorer worked great!
The problem is a corrupt contacts sqlite database. As the referenced post says, you'll be able to tell if thats the problem when there is a .db-journal file in the folder. The folder is /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/ *Note* this is not the data folder in sdcard, but the data folder in root (/).
Just delete the databases folder in /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts and restart. The contacts database will be rebuilt and re-synced.
This has worked for me twice (thank goodness). I don't know what causes the contacts DB to get messed up... it wasn't a drained battery for me.

Worked great! Thanks!
thanks gpzjack
It was a different database file for me but it solved it. The only thing is that a week later it happened again. This seems to fix it. But does anyone know the cause of the corruped database so we can stop it from happening?

"Application Name" could not be downloaded due to an error

I just flashed cm7.1 stable on my htc hero.
I also flashed the google apps already but why when I try to download apps from market, i got "Application Name" could not be downloaded due to an error...
Anyone?
Same here, it seems a problem tied to the gmail account, changing account all is gone well.
Anyway looking to solve yet.
Any help appreciated.
The same problem here after install a custom rom
Is there any solution?
Same problem here, no custom ROM flashing though, no flashing at all.
Guys, this worked for me w/o changing google account or wiping sd,
1.)Turnoff your phone
2.) Remove Battery
3.) Remove External Sd Card count maybe 3-5seconds
4.) put sd card back in and battery
5.) turn it on and see if you can download again

[Q] Giant folder named "blackmart" refuses to delete. Please Help!

Hey guys wondering if you could help me out here I have a major problem,
So last night I tried downloading a few songs on to my phone and I got an error saying that I don't have enough space. I have a 4GB sd card and I don't have much on it, so I went into a file manager to check it out, and lo and behold, I see a folder titled "blackmart" taking up 99.88% of my storage space. It has a crapload of random files that are just numbers and weird symbols as the title but I can't open them. The whole folder is 651.57GB, or so the file manager says, which is pretty impossible since my memory card obviously does not hold even a hundredth of that.
So I tried deleting it, and it just reappeared. Tried deleting again, again, again... still keeps reappearing.
I do not have a usb for my phone, but I did try connecting it through AirDroid (managing my phone on a desktop over my wifi network) and deleting the folder, but I still get the same results.
This is frustrating because I can't download any music or apps or ANYTHING.
If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance!
P.S. Not sure if this is very important but when I first rooted my phone and was still experimenting, I downloaded the BlackMarket app and everything was fine. Then I uninstalled it since I didn't want it anymore, but this folder is here, and I'm almost sure that it is from that app because somewhere in the 1,301 files that are in the folder are a couple of apk files that I downloaded with the app.
EDIT: Noticed that when I go to Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage it says I still have 2GB left, but the file manager says differently and I still cannot download anything.

Pocket not installing on Touchpad - Insufficient Storage

Hey guys,
I know threads about the installation error have been made, but I don't think anyone has had it for solely one app.
I couldn't install ReadItLater several weeks ago because of the insufficient storage error, and I can't install Pocket (formerly ReadItLater) because of the same error.
Clearly, I have enough space, but the problem only occurs for one app.
I've tried installing the .apk by itself and even moving other apps to the "SD card," but neither of those worked.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
virjog

[Q] failed restore

Hi, pretty new to this , but I looked around for quite a while and cant find a similar case.
I rooted and did a backup of my nexus 7 and sent it in for repairs. I got it back yesterday and rooted and tried to restore my backup, the download took forever but did finally finish. after rebooting I expected to see the restore working, but nothing. was updated at all.
So I proceeded to download everything manually and re-install, however now when I go to my settings > Storage it shows only 6gb available but I only have a few gb of music and apps on it. Most of the bar showing what's using the memory is just grey and it doesn't seem to be used for anything.
I loaded an app called disc usage, and it shows that in
/data/media/backups/015d8822008020f/2013-09-06-12-51 There are supposedly two files systemext14.win(12942mb) and data.ext14.win(7269mb)
Ithis app has the option to delete files and directories, but when I try it says file or directory not found.
I cannot seem to find these files or directories with any browser. I tried fixing file permissions - but that didn't help
How can I get my
