Remove your password pin pattern then wipe data system cache if you don't clean flash then you will get alot of force crashes. You can dirty flash on top of the same rom though if it's just a incremental update.
1. Remove pattern and pin. If you don't do this step then you will have to factory reset your phone with stock MIUI.
2. Wipe all except internal storage and external storage.
3. Flash vendor and rom.
4. Flash disableforceencryption with magisk 18.0.
5. Flash your twrp again so it isn't replaced by stock.

hey bro
search for MULTIROM thread
you can flash multiple roms and your primary one won't be touched or affected as long as you follow the instructions.
for me ,i always use one of miui roms as a primary ( some bugs occur if miui used as secondary )
& AOSip/ pixel experience/ ..... as secondary roms.. add as much as you want.
learn the procedure carefully then you are ready to go.

No, you are right. Only OEM ROMs which have recovery built in will replace TWRP. None of the custom ROMs to my knowledge have recovery built in. So no need to flash TWRP again unless you are flashing OEM ROMs.
Even when flashing OEM ROMs, if you flash Magisk immediately after the ROM before booting, TWRP will remain.

What he suggested will delete the lockscreen password/passcode etc so you can boot the phone without any prompts. You do this within TWRP.

oh in that case, should I have to factory reset everytime I flash a rom through my TWRP? I use ZCX TWRP, so Lazy flasher is not required after rom flashing right?
you just need it once . to decrypt your storage

In the information about the ZCX TWRP I found below:
ZCX TWRP : http://forum.xda-developers.com/redm...persu-t3462448
- Based on official TWRP 3.0.2-0
- Patches boot.img automatically (Removes dm-verity flag)
- Disables forced encryption
Should I have to tweak anything in TWRP settings to remove this dm-verify flag everytime?

Are you coming from MIUI? If so then MIUI encrypts the data partition, hence the new ROM asking for a password.
Before you install the ROM, you must "format data" on wipe in TWRP, this is different from wipe data.
Note that this will delete all your data obviously.

Are you sure that you used "format data"?
Wipe data doesn't remove the encryption.

bootloop issue

hi i tryed to convert my redmi note 4x to global when flashing with mi flash tool i did it without clean and after that firmware finish installing but got stuck in bootloop now i flashed twrp and tryed to flash custom rom but again bootloop when i check my storage it shows 9gb now when its actual is 32gb i think i disturbed partitions any solution available?
Are you able to boot into TWRP?? If not flash TWRP first using fastboot.
Once you have access to TWRP boot into it and perform a full wipe (System + Data + Cache + Dalvik + Internal Storage). Perform a format too after wipe to be on the safer side. Now copy a custom ROM or MIUI ROM to your Internal Storage or SD card through a computer. Once copied install your ROM.
If you flashed custom ROM flash Gapps after flashing ROM. Reboot.
If you flashed MIUI, flash lazyflasher after that(or phone will be stuck at MI logo). Reboot.
You can find download links for lazyflasher here on XDA or you can google it too.

@ArK96 is right but the only thing i suggest is to, flash miui and lazyflasher first so as to properly set up the initial firmware, and partitioning. After miui boots properly, you can do anything you want. :highfive:

Go here and download the Global Stable worldwide release version firmware.
Boot into twrp wipe and format everything. Also after that reflash TWRP again using fastboot.
Once reflashed boot into TWRP and again perform a full wipe and format, then install the downloaded firmware zip. After that reboot TWRP and try flashing MIUI.

Yes. Red wolf is more MIUI friendly, it is made with OTA survival in mind. But your issue is that the ROM is not getting flashed. You can try what I said above about TWRP reflash, if it doesn't work you can go ahead and try redwolf. REDWOLF is nothing but modded TWRP, base code is still TWRP.

Need advice on upgrading RN3 Kenzo from MIUI 8.2.4.0 Global

My RN3 is still running MIUI 8.2.4.0. It has unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed. However it is not rooted.
I cannot get any OTA because of the TWRP that I have installed someone cause the OTA not to work.
I would like to now upgrade to latest MIUI which is 9.2.x.x. Can anyone advice what is the best way to do this WITHOUT losing data? Or perhaps if phone much be wiped, what is the best way to backup/restore?
Thanks.

When u update the same rom then u dont need to wipe the data. Just dirty flash without wipe command.
But if u switching from miui global to xiaomi miui eu rom then u must use format data and then wipe data reset. And don't restore backup. Else u will experience crashes and bugs. Apps can be redownloaded from playstore.
Clean flash is always recommend when changing roms.

Miflash for fastboot roms. Twrp for custom roms or xiaomi eu.
Sorry for asking so many questions. I just wanted to make sure I don't brick the phone.
If I use MiFlash, will it override the TWRP that I have already installed on the phone? Will it be okay to flash using MiFlash when TWRP is already installed?

Try the next if one of this doesn´t result:
- Restore the vendor partition, do wipes, reboot
- Flash the firmware linked over your rom, do wipes, reboot
- Do a clean flash again, wipe cache, dalvik, system and data (if it´s important backup it before), flash the custom rom you are using, GApps, Magisk, reboot.

wipe system, davik and cache. then dirty flash. remember not to wipe "system" if you flash OTA .zip
Okay, I have Additional questions :
1. Do I have to disable magisk modules or outright uninstall it before flashing?
2. Do I have to mount system and vendor in twrp again?
3. Do I need to install magisk again after dirty flashing?
4. Do I have to flash DFE again?

1. Not necessary (unless you are using a module which may cause bootloop)
2. I never did.
3. Most of the times when dirty flashing the same ROM, twrp flashes Magisk (and GApps) automatically (atleast in my case). If it doesn't flash automatically, then you can flash it manually in order to make it certain.
4. Like I always said, flashing DFE is not necessary if you use the TWRP that supports decryption without actually decrypting your device permanently. Infact, I never suggest anyone to use a decrypted device if using it for financial purpose.

Omg, thanks for answering my questions mate, much appreciated!
Depends, but if you are switching from a different ROM then dirty flash will most likely brick your device or cause a lot of errors and it should never be done. But if it is from the same ROM, like going from older PE to new one, then all you do is flash the newer one with the older version already installed. But it is recommended you clean flash because from my experience, dirty flash always caused errors like lag and crashing. Just use Migrate(available on Play store) and use it to backup apps. A lot of these custom ROMs are still early and in BETA so it is recommended you clean flash.
As for DFE, it is optional. Only problem is you will have to use TWRP with SD card support or one that has a working decryption so that you can flash files through the recovery . You can use apps like flashify to flash if you dont want to your device decrypted. If you got any questions you can ask me.

Actually I've got one.
I want to dirty flash a ROM (just an updated version of the same one) but I dont know how i can place a file into my phone's internal storage through TWRP without formatting de data (full wipe). My phone is not recognized by my PC on TWRP mode unless I make a full wipe.
Can you guys assist?
I have a question I'm using a custom rom with gapps, but the custom rom update that is available does not have gapps if I flash the non-gapp version on my gapp version will it cause problems?

G3's typically have sd card storage available. athat's where I put all my roms, gapp's, other stuff which I have no trouble flashing from TWRP. Beyond that you must seek one more learned than I.

You're right. That user is wrong. Do NOT wipe system if you are dirty flashing. Otherwise you are just doing a normal flashing, not updating your rom.

I'd say no.
Android System partition is mounted as readonly after boot and won't be modified anymore then (unless you modify system files with adb/TWRP and mounted system partition).
Your during Android usage installed apps are stored in Data partition.
However you have to reflash gapps and magisk in case you installed them with TWRP/adb.
