AI Color Mode (photos) - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

I recently updated to 9.0.0.206 and expected to see the AI Color Mode for photos which should be there since .195:
https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-mate-20-pro-mate-20-x-ai-color-mode-photos/
However, I don't seem to find it anywhere in the camera app. Did someone have more luck?

Just to clarify - I'm not talking about AI color in video, that's there and working for quite some time now, but specifically, since 9.0.0.195 the same capability should work also for taking photos (as per the XDA link in opening post)

Thank you, I wasn't aware that you can take picture while recording! However, when you do it, the photo taken doesn't have the AI colors, it's just regular photo as I just tried

waited feature worried now
im on .187 firmware c432 from Portugal
i have heard of this ai photo feature and i was waiting for it because i think it would be amazing.
i read what ai photo is in i was expecting this in .195 firmware.
if OP does not have this feature what does this mean?
is this a asian feature only?
is the feature in more like macro mode and OP havent seen this?
im fallowing this

You can simulate this by taking a photo in aperture mode, view the photo in the gallery app, click on the aperture icon then select filters then mono. Sets the background to B/W and the main focus image stays colour.

Mozarts Camera (best settings)

Alright everybody,
I have had the mozart now for a few weeks and everything is outstanding on it, it's pretty far removed from WM6.5.
The only problem i'm having is the camera just seems to shoot a little blurry, I know some of the pics are me not quite keeping still, I was just wondering what settings it should be on for a good picture.
Thanks
Graham
Hi,
I've not changed any of settings and am getting pretty good results (when I remember to wait for the 2nd flash that is!).
Will have a play about with the settings over the weekend and post if I find anything interesting.
I'm currently thinking about getting a 7 Mozart myself and was wondering how the camera performs.
Could you please take some pictures and post them here?
Thank you very much in advance.

I'd say that's a superb quality for a mobile camera
Could you please post some pictures (preferably in bad lighting condition too) of the camera, too?
Thank you for your work

How does the Mozart camera compare to the Omnia 7? I am considering either this for the camera or the Omnia for the S-Amoled.
I'm experience the blurred image as well and I did not change the setting either.
Just wonder how to take close ups with this camera e.g. when i take photos of a book the words are not readable, blurred???
EDIT: Wrong thread !
Anyway, I'm having the same issue with "blurry" pictures. Even my N900's 5Mpix camera is performing better... *Sigh*

This might sound a bit odd, but u know the button on the side to press to actually take the pic? .. Hold it in for about 5/6 secs and it seems to zoom in and crisp the focus ... then click to take a pic.

Have you tried Macro mode? Works well for me.
I've not had any problems with blurry pictures.....unless I move after focus has locked. Unfortunately there's no Microsoft update coming for me being bad at keeping still!
Ok, we need to press the camera button for a while until it adjusts the focus, then close ups can be taken and once focus is locked then there is no blurr and images are just excellent. thank dov74.
any thing i'm missing in settings about macro mode? not sure where it is.

No Problem.
Macro mode is under camera/settings/scenes then it's the last option. I've not taken any proper photos with it but I've messed about with it and have gotten good results.
From memory, another member on here uploaded a picture taken in Macro mode - will have a look and see if I can find.

thanks dov74, I've found it, never scrolled the scenes option further down

also the dev at the g+ page is very helpful and does reply to all sort of queries.
Bluish tint and low quality
Sadly there is a bluish(sometimes greenish) tint and that is not light but too much. Any way to capture raw with normal colours? Also the quality is even lower than the jpegs captured with stock camera app.

can you post your settings?
also you should post the dng files on G+ page where the developer can take a look at it
I dont need the dngs.
The green is because of the missing colormatrix. But it can easy fix with awb tool in ps and rawtherapee or every other app wich can read dngs.
It would be usefull when the thread starter update it and make his knowledge for all users avail.
Its not good to point all problems to me.
I get bored when answering 20 times the same question and user get stupid answers or im just ignore them.
Its not my problem when people dont know how to process the taken raws. The quality can be worse when you dont know it.
Im thinking about to remove rawsupport in freedcam for all devices wich use the neutral matrix... Then its limited to g2/g3/m9 devices.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
Ouch. ...i knew that the color tint can be fixed but i didn't know how to do that. No prob i will check youtube. What about the quality? Is something wrong with the settings?

the preview is in dark conditons always a bit noise. for raw capture use iso 100 in all light conditions. it reduce the noise heavy. the exposure can later increased when its to dark.
also turning off wavlet-denoise can decrase the noise

We don't have a powerful camera like one+one and the raw output is expected to be noisy as no noise reduction algorithm is used.
Although FreeDcam has options for noise reduction and what not, i would rather do that in an external software. this is the reason why we are capturing in raw right?
With RAW you will get much more lighting information and thus edit should be much better.
Also try to use manual control available like adjusting ISO etc. Google should be your friend. Enjoy!
A'ight. Didn't want you to take it as a "complain" xD ..Thanks for the info though. @abhi can you tell me what is the expolock button for? to lock exposure ?

with that you can lock the camera ae routine. that means you can point into the sun lock the exposure and the cam does not change it until it gets released.
it can be used to trick the camera shutter time.
as sample when you want to have a longer exposure time at night. aim with the cam to a dark point or lay it to the ground and lock the exposure. then point to the scene you want to shoot.
the same trick can be done for a faster shutter speed. for that lock the expo into a light (sun or simliar)
No raw format found
In the given method only jpg and dng are available as picture format!

After taking selfie, edit the pic within the native gallery app and you'll find BW filters. See..I saved your life
Just found filter mode. You can select it in the "more" section and there is black and white labeled nd... And that can be done using both cameras.
You're welcome lol

you will notice that nd will bleach out your face , and later you won't be able to repair the image with editing.
photo mode has AI HDR, also you can later adjust contrast, sharpness and tone with BW filte, image will be reasonably clearer.

Gcam V7

Here's that new gcam version

(pull down from anywhere). That 16:9 format doesn't make sense though - at least not for P3 users...

It is already in (Google Cam 7.)
It is automatically inside night vision you just have to set the focus to Infinity and than make a Foto. Tada! There is no special button or option for astrophotography.

Just found out that Astrophotography is already on that release. If you are in Night Sight and put your phone somewhere steady (for example on a tripod), it will automatically kick in.

Go into the settings, and turn on HDR + Enhanced, it is into the first row of settings, one needs to click on the arrow on the main screen of the GCAM APP to enter the settings, you turn on HDR + control & HDR enhanced into the first screen of the settings/disable motion (that part of the UI) you must make sure HDR + Enhanched is enabled, triple check in the main settings into the viewfinder.
Set HDR frames to 30/45.
Go to lib patcher, turn it on, go into back camera, set it to chroma denoise = 1.0, luma denoise 0.5
Go back, take a night mode picture, be stunned. Hint, the main camera works perfect, its a bit slow into processing times, but the picture will be MILES better, if you don't want to wait so much, turn off HDR + Enhanced, and let the HDR frames at default.
Always tap to focus before taking a picture, and pay attention if the object is IN FOCUS before you take the picture.
P.S. Close all other apps from background before using this app, it is resource heavy, and do not take more shots until the first one is completely processed, you can follow the processing progress if you open the picture in the viewfinder, you need to wait around 10 seconds to be able to do so, it is slow, but the results are stunning. If waiting is not an option, turn off HDR + enhanced, and leave HDR + settings to default, by doing so you will lose some image quality, but you will be able to take shots of moving subjects without any blurring. The degradation in quality is quite noticeable in low light/darkness.
With this settings, the MI Note 10, D E S T R O Y all high end photos currently available, it toys with them, it crashes them. I have tested it vs S10 both Snapdagon and Exynos, vs iP11, vs P30 pro and so on. The difference is brutal.
