Huawei Mate 20 Pro (Super)Charging Problems - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hey!
I've been using my Mate 20 Pro for quite some time (newest software with security updates from 1st January '19). Few days ago I plugged my phone to the charger only to notice that it was not charged in the morning. So I connected it to original Huawei supercharger and the only thing that phone shows is:
Normal charging for 1s, supercharging for 2s, no charging for 1s, normal charging for 1s and so on... And it is not really charging quickly. The only way I can get power to my phone effectively is using wireless charger. Any ideas why the supercharge is not working?
Tried troubleshooting:
I booted it in the safe mode - same issue
Different cable - same
Different charger (not supercharger) - showing that it's charging but the percentage is not increasing
Wireless charger - works

I think you might charged it with a wet port?

I would thought so, but the phone did not get wet. Even if the humidity got into the port somehow, shouldn't it come back to normal? (And it's not after 2 days)

I had trouble with Mate 9 last year, my partner put a different Cable in and it said there was moisture, I put the cable into my Mate 9, gave her my cable and they both worked fine. Odd.
Then my daughter took my charger and cable attached to S9+ when I got it back my phone wouldn't charge. I had to charge my phone with a different one, the next time I came to charge tried it again it worked but only at slow speed, lost the fast charge somehow.

Similar thing happened to my S8. It stops fast charging and only charged slowly. But went back to fast charging after a few days of not charging via cable.
I suggest don't use wired charging for a few days and let it completely dry. Hope the damage is not permanent.

My mate has a mate 20 pro that did exactly this. It was ubder warranty and he put it in for repair. When he got it back, he was told the charging port on his device had some kind of short (maybe water) and they had to exchange that part in the phone. And now it works.

Here is an update for others with similar problem:
I additionally tried:
- Clearing Cache partition
- Factory reset
No change...
I went yesterday to Huawei Service Center and they replaced USB port, motherboard(!) and camera modules(probably because they had motherboard with cameras already). Everything was covered by warranty.

Hi did you lost your data after that ?
As I've mate 10 pro suddenly charging only as normal charge "not super or even fast" also not recognized by my PC when plugging it
BR

I did not lose any data. Only the port was changed, but it is always better to do a backup (even online if your computer does not recognize it) just in case.

[Q] Galaxy S3 charging problem?

So i bought my SGS3 (marble white) a few days ago and it was working perfectly fine. A few days ago my phone suddenly stopped charging. I rebooted the phone and it was charging again. Last night it again stopped charging. I again rebooted but this time it did not fix the problem.
I know that the charging port of the phone is not damaged as phone works perfectly fine when connected to a pc via usb cable and charges.
And i have never ever plugged in a non-genuine accessory to its micro usb port. Not even a dock!
Anyone with a similar problem or cure?
edit: software update fixed it in my case.

I will not say I have a cure, but I am facing the same problem, sometimes I have to reboot twice for it to start charging.
Guru's kindly look into the issue and help us, this happens in both the cases, while charging for adapter or while charging from USB.

Well not exactly, it does not happen when i plug the phone into a usb port.
It happens with the charger but, now my phone is not just recognizing the charger. I have rebooted twice, thrice but still the same problem.
I'm having a similar problem,
Charging when -
phone on
power save on - WIFI/data and most other things are off
charges 2% per hr with official charger (wall socket)
Charging when -
phone OFF!
40% per hr with official charger (wall socket)
Haven't really tried the PC USB charging yet,
But i have noticed that my battery info page says the phones been on battery for
2 days 22hrs, Very strange as i have charged and attempted to charge the phone more than 10 times in the past 24hrs.
Anyone also noticed the on battery time to be wrong?
i got this problem yesterday too , restart then its ok , weird ...
before reboot the battery icon shows charging icon but its not charging at all
does charging a battery run a software too ?
why you guys not reporting the issue in samsung mobile showroom from where you bought the mobile and take a use of your warranty card?

My mobile is no more in warranty as I have rooted my phone, will have to come back to stock rom for me to claim warranty, that's why I am waiting for someone to provide solution before I return back to stock rom for warranty claim.
Sounds like it's an issue with the charger, rather than the phone.

I thought it was best to ask here before i contact orange to report the problem, as i really didn't want to send the phone back to them if its something i could have fixed
I'm doing a factory reset and if it still has charging problems i will call orange today.
I'm facing the same problem. It started about 2 weeks ago.
I tried different chargers but no hope. the only way to charge it is via a usb port.
I had this problem once on the first day I got my phone. Worked fine though with an iphone charger with the samsung usb cable. Have any of you guys tried that?

The batterystats.bin file only resets itself after a full charge to 100%. That's the file that's responsible for showing all the battery usage info. So if you just keep topping up your phone without letting it charge to 100%, the battery statistics will be from the last full charge. If you see the graph you'll see it rises everytime you charge and then falls when you take it off charge. It cumulatively shows the amount of time you've used the phone on battery since the last full charge, regardless of how much you charge it in between. When you let it charge fully to 100% and unplug it, the battery stats file will be reset and give you a correct reading.

I'm having a similar issue, only difference to what you guys are having is that my SIII start charging via the normal charger if its been in USB for a bit, like 2-5 min. I tried the rebooting, nothing. it only charges through USB 1st, then it will work via the stock charger, I've tested it on another charger aswell, and the samsung car charger.
I really hope there is a quick fix, becuase I dont want to send it in for repairs, as cellphone providers in SA arent the best.
I had a similar problem with my gtab 2 10.1 but the wall charger is to blame

S3 (Int) won't charge

Hi XDA,
My Galaxy S3 stopped charging properly a couple of days ago. In a matter of hours it froze and charged a bit slower, then it wouldn't charge anymore. When the phone is off and I plug in the charger, the animation starts for about 1 - 2 seconds, and then the screen goes black. If it's on, nothing happens when i plug the charger in and out.
I've owned the phone for a year, and I rooted about 3 weeks ago, and installed CM10.1 (Nightly). It worked fine until this problem.
I've troubleshooted a bit on my own, and what I've found out is that, it can't be the battery that's the problem, because I've tried three different ones, and the problem stays the same. It can't be the USB port on the phone, since I can get it to work in Download mode (ODIN mode). I've also tried CM9 and flashing back to stock android. I've also tried charging it from the wall and the computer, and used different cables. Nothing has done any better.
I'm guessing it's software related, I just can't figure out how to fix it.
Thanks in advance,
Zhibbhi
the charging port of the phone might be faulty.

By charging port I would suggest the charging circuit inside the phone is faulty, as it sounds like you've eliminated all the other possibilities. Return the phone to fully stock for warranty repair.
So even if I can access the phone through ODIN, the charging circuit can be faulty?
I just thought it was a strange coincident that it went faulty a just a couple of weeks after I installed CM10.1

Odin has nothing to do with the charging circuit .
Solutions .
One the battery try another
Two the charger try another >> charge phone from PC usb .
Three the cable try another
Four the USB port on the phone >>> clean
Five the onboard charging circuit >>> needs a service centre .
Six and highly unlikely a firmware problem wipe phone flash stock rom .
jje
Ok, thanks a ton guys! I'm going to set the phone back to stock, and send it in for warranty repair as I've tried everything else.

In the future, avoid using S3's stock charging cable. I changed mine to one I bought off eBay and had no probs since then. I had several frequent problems like slow charging/no charging etc.

Best avoid using the phone to charge the battery at all, that way you don't stress the phone components with wake lock and heat. Buy a £6 desk charger and spare battery, replacing these is much cheaper than the phone motherboard.
Solved
I have an S3 and lately it has taken longer to charge and it was charging to less percentage. I tried 2 different chargers and 3 different cables with the same outcome. I was thinking about one of the threads I had read and they mentioned going to the cell store and it charged for them. I've read about it being the charge circuit on the main board and various other problems and solutions that didn't work. I went to Staples today and purchased a SCOSCHE reVOLT line h1 2.1 amp quick charge and in less than an hour I charged from 63% to the 100% I haven't seen in quite a while. The Samsung OEM charger it seems (as well as the other one I tried) had lost some of it's get up and go. It is working fine now and with this charger it doesn't take long at all to reach full charge. I've put a lot of time into customizing this phone after root and would have been VERY disappointed if I had to start over with a new one. I'd be willing to bet at least 90% of the charging problems people are posting about are caused by the charger deteriorating over time.

Supercharge gone? BLA

Had the BLA-09 8.0.0.148 (C432) and noticed that I seems all my super charger are not that super anymore.. Neither my huawei car super charger nor the provided oem supercharger show up as supercharging when plugging in. Anybody else having that issue?
Same firmware here and Super Charge is still active (Huawei original charger). Do you use the original provided USB cable ?
The superscharge seems to swich on for a while when plugging in, but after a short time (minute, perhaps a few) it switches to normal charge in car and on charger. Also happened on previous firmware.
yep both times it's original Huawei cable. (though I should mention that usb c seems to lose it's catch and pops out easily since a few days)

No it's not
When the battery is is almost drained I charge 55% in 30 minutes. It slows down after battery hits 70% but that's normal.

To prevent overheating the phone may charge slower (like when you use it for gaming and charge it the same time, it's very slow)
It would still display it as supercharging though

A guy on the italian forums is reporting the same after updating to B148!
I would try with a factory reset and eventually a new cable.
Cache wiping worked for me. I now got the car charger we eking again. Will check the home charger tonight.
Quick update. Cache wipe fixed the issue all super charger are now super again.

I experienced this multiple times with my device and it will come back, cache wiping has probably not fixed your problem but time has.
I will bring my phone to a service center tomorrow, I'm sick of this happening over and over.
If this happens once, chances are high it will happen again (and yes, I wiped cache multiple times).
Update to this:
I visited a Huawei service center today and the technician told me that this happens with a lot of Mate 10 Pro devices.
What causes the problems is dust/dirt.
The technician used a metal tool first and then compressed air.
Supercharge and headphones now work again.
So, if this happens to you, you probably have to clean your port, but be careful since you could break the port.
The technician also advised me to buy some sort of dust cover for the device so that this problem doesn't happen so fast again.
Wow! I have never seen my phone explicitely says it's in supercharge mode in 5 month or so I own it! Oo
But charge was quick at 2A

I cleaned mine too now and I can certainly say that I now have much tighter sitting usb c cables. So cleaning it out is certainly the way to go, wether supercharge works or not.
Hmmm. I have had this issue too. My phone stopped supercharging but it also stopped allowing me to transfer data with a cable to my computer (or to my drone remote control). I cleaned it alot, but no effect. I ordered a new port assembly and replaced it. Now, it will supercharge for about a minute, but then it goes back into normal charging mode. While looking in the battery app, it would fluctuate between charging modes until deciding to charge normal. I've wiped the cache, but still doesn't help. Any further input??

Poco F1 is dead

Hi everyone, I got a poco f1 from a friend. He used it quite normally. The cellphone was off for about a month - it didn't work. After a month I tried to start it however unsuccessfully, poco f1 is dead, I tried to charge it but it can't. What could be a malfunction? Help if you know and thank you very much
First, try using a different charging cable and brick. If it doesn't charge, Check if it can be read using a computer or laptop. If it still doesn't work, then the issue may be the charging port. If that's the case, if you are still covered by warranty, then go to xiaomi store. If not covered, go to a proper technician.
Btw if the device can be read on a computer, then it may just be a boot issue. Just flash again.
Does the white charging led light up when it's on charge?
If not, have you tried leaving it on charge for an extended period?
I've had difficulties with phones in the past after batteries have fullly discharged - eg the Moto G5 had some battery protection "feature" that stopped it starting up if it thought the battery was fully discharged - it was a bit over sensitive so would sometimes assume the phone was fully discharged when it wasn't
Try leaving it on charge for 24 hours or so then holding down the power button for for at least 20 seconds with it still on charge
If you have no luck and the warranty is out, get to a repair shop (or disconnect and reconnect the battery if you're confident to open it up - for a while I was getting sporadic shutdowns with my F1, following which it wouldn't take any charge, the battery light staying off when plugged in. This was all fixed by tightening the screws securing the black motherboard plate, the cover which retains all the connectors - not sure why but it seemed something, I suspect the antenna connection, had come loose. Since doing this about 5 months ago I've had no further shutdowns and my phone is usable again, having been completely unreliable before)
One trick that worked on some old Nokia phones was to charge it plugged to a computer instead of plugged to a charger - but as said elsewhere, if the battery is completely dead, YMMV.
Also, try to press and hold the power button and while doing that, plug the phone to the charger and then release the power button.

I guess your battery is dead
I have same issue, however I think my one is a motherboard charging IC issue. Does anyone know a way I can get it cheap from India, as I’m in the UK. India have it for around 9999 rupees which is about £10(+international shipping). I’ve ordered a charging port replacement from AliExpress to see if that solves the problem. However I don’t think that will work. No idea how my motherboard got damaged in the first place. I replaced a cracked screen myself and the phone was working fine for a few weeks, then it stopped charging all of a sudden. My PC also detects it/can access files doesn’t charge it. A new battery powered powered on the phone but again didn’t charge. Tried different adapters and cables too. Any experts out there know whether this is a motherboard issue or just a charging port issue?
If the phone is OFF for a month, then it is probable that the battery has gone down to a point that the BMS has shut it down. The BMS won't allow you to charge the battery because, in its own assessment, the battery is dead. Best way to test this case is to have another Pocophone with a good battery (or just a new battery altogether), detach the cable from that and test on yours. This may or may not work but this is one of the easiest to test and a new battery is easy to acquire.

Battery Issue

Hello People,
I have started facing this weird problem with my Mi A3 yesterday that I only bought in June.
The problem is the phone does not charge. When connected the charger, it shows "Charging Slowly" and the battery percentage stays as it is. It has been plugged in for 8 hours now with no change in the battery percentage.
Ampere shows a charging current of 70mA while the same charger & cable on my wife's OnePlus shows 1800mA current. So it's not the charger! :crying:
I have tried a hard reset, I have tried 4 different charger & USB combinations, NOTHING WORKED.
Any help around this will be greatly appreciated!
I will be set back with 15K if I loose this phone
What about the charger in the box? Doesn't that work?
Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Try going to the customer care
Thank you for a quick response!
None of the chargers are working. I've tried stock, OnePlus Dash, Moto Turbo, Samsung, everything.
I guess, service center is the only thing that can help.
Update - Even when it is plugged in, it keeps discharging.:crying:
Sadly, service center is closed, I'm from Pune and the city is in a lockdown till tomorrow.
Update - After a lot of struggle to not to reset my phone and an extensive research, I have wiped my phone clean and viola!
The charging works, it still charges slowly, but that's not as slow it was earlier.
I remember it seeing on screen 8 days untill full charge!
Now it's 6 hours to full charge, even with a turbo charger, 15W.
I will keep digging and posting the updates here.
Thanks
Charging too slow... battery draining out fast
I am facing same issue with my mi A3 since yesterday. It is taking 8 hours for my phone to get fully charged also battery is draining out too fast. Seems like this issue arrived with July security update. Even I tried hard reset and several other chargers but issue still persists. Hope that Mi sends out bug fix soon.
Resolved!
I had to visit the service center within a month of purchase due to the above mentioned issues.
Apparently some electronic failure caused the connector to fail and stopped the phone getting charged up.
My device is under warranty and thanks to that, got the faulty parts replaced for free and within 2 hours.
Which hardware parts did they get to replace??, Also facing the same issue
