I agree. This one which is gcam5.1 from iDan works better and has much better quality than the gcam6.1.

With default settings, its quality is not better than even stock camera. The iDan version has much better quality. Only thing is that the portrait mode doesn't work.

Yes, my bad. I wasn't using the "fixed" version for ONE UI.
It works now, quality is rather good, better than on the stock camera app but far from Pixel 3 level.

The night sight mode doesn´t work, the UI of the app it´s very old

I installed the google camera app as it is the one that works best and the best quality but it crashes the app when switching from photo mode to video mode. Any possible solution? Say that I have tried all the versions of the app and in all the same thing happens.

I think it's a matter of omnivision sensor cam in your device.

Google GCam

Since the camera UI is quite laggy I would love an alternative like the gcam ones.
So thought I would create a general post of this if anyone tests the releases out there for GCam
Tried Arnova's but it failed...
Configuration needed probably
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2/#apk313
Cam2 not enabled*
I have tried this one and another one I don't remember where I got:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/MGC_5.2.022_FINAL_1.0.apk
Sometimes they work and let me take great shots and some it just force closes.
I have not figured out whether it is because there are too many apps in RAM or when I shake too much. Or for some other reason.

You can use camera 2 probe app from playstore.
I found this in a Nokia 7 Plus forum and it is working without any FC issues. However, front portrait is not working and rear camera colours are coming out weird. I am not sure what settings to use to correct it. I noticed some minor improvement in the front camera, which could probably be improved with the right settings.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/MGC_5.1.018_Urikill_vXXII.apk
If any of you can suggest the correct settings to get these working it will be great.
Anyway, since the rear stock camera is pretty good and even better than OP6 and also because the main rear camera (stock) has a 84 deg wide angle, we can always set the timer and turn it around to capture great selfies

I can take photos using the night sight mode and they are generally lighter than standard photos. But I've not seen dramatic differences like the posts about it on XDA so i assume it's not fully functional somehow
Any other app to clone google apps? Because the App cloner does not work in the latest version, and the older one calls an error and asks for updates.

Use this version of App cloner to install the app you want, you can give it a different name so it'll install.
Put it in airplane mode before installing then it won't ask you to update. Leave it in airplane mode during operation.
The cstark27 version with the real night mode only works on Android 9.
Today I modified the sdk to 27 instead of 28 in the apk, it installs but on opening it closes and gives error.
Unfortunately it only works on Android 9
But it goes so well at 8.1 in Pixel 2 that it's a shame to put android 9 just for this.

Night mode in this one doesn't work.
Night mode works, with a caveat, on this one: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...1.013_B-S-G-based_v.0.4_TlnNeun_Fu24-Tele.apk
The caveat being that the viewfinder doesn't show anything (in night mode), but it says to hold the camera still and it does the night mode magic, which the other version doesn't.
EDIT: this one has night mode working and viewfinder works: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/MGC_6.1.013_MiMAX2_V1b_A8.1+.apk
Gotta say though, in the scenes where nightmode is needed, the viewfinder is pretty useless.
Under Settings, go to "bsg mod settings" set the front and rear cameras to pixel 2xl and turn on full night mode. reboot.
Pixel 2 xl last 8.1

İs this version for oneplus 8 ?
So are you guys satisfied with Gcam on the 8 for the most part? Does the ultrawide camera work without issues?
I assume RAW on the Ultrawide is still not working due to Oneplus’ limitations, right? Or has some enterprising Gcam dev found a way to get around that?

I don't really use it. It's stable yes, but the color balance is a long ways off what I was used to when I had gCam on my 3T. It's good to have it as an option, but need to try some different Configs before I'll use it for anything important.
