How Do I Know If My Mi 9 is Charging at QC 4.0 Speeds - Xiaomi Mi 9 Accessories

Hi Guys
Just purchased a Xiaomi Mi 9 along with a razer charger QC 4.0 charger and was wondering if the phone gives any indication that you are charging at QC 4.0 speeds.

Download "Ampere" to see at what rate your phone charges.

Thanks just downloaded the application.
Any particular stats within the app to look out for

Just the charging speed, QC4+ should be around 4A, if I'm not mistaken? Haven't checked, but I think that's about what you should get. My Mi 9 charges at 3.3A with the stock adapter.

I bought the Belkin QC4+ charger and it seems to charge the same at the stock Chinese model (8/128) adapter.
Mid 4000s mAh @4.4v
Take it for what you will. I bet anything is better than the Global brick I guess.

I know it's working because my phone charges absurdly fast.

Look for rapid charging on lock screen
Or charge turbo on charge animation

I am using the Hama QC4+ charger, no Charge Turbo and no Charge Quick/Fast displayed.
Wonderful charger
It does charge kinda quick, and the text shows Charging Fast, but that's it. Disappointed.

Could always use one of these, they're fairly cheap and quite usefull for checking port/usb output

or you simply look at the GSI lockscreen which integrates usb meter
shows volts, ampers, temperature, battery% and speed status

The charger that comes with the Chinese model should be a qc4+ one.

This was not my experience at all. I bought that belkin 4.0+ and it averaged at 2200... I don't think the phone does Charge Turbo or even Fast on 4.0 / 4.0 + because it isn't really a QC 4 rated phone. Offical Xiaomi chargers that do 27 w are running at QC 3.0 (look closely at the brick) they do however have an extra mode which makes the QC 3.0 charge TURBO... here is the confusion I beleive after buying a Hama 4.0+ and this Belkin 4.0+ you said works but doesn't charge Turbo.

I got this app. But it gives me a wrong information. I checked via real usb voltmeter. Recording the app charger itself is charging less than 2000 mah. But I connected this charger to wireless charger and I gave almost 4000. Who is know please explain me, how can I get more from wireless charger than charger itself?
By the way charger I bought from AliExpress, original Xiaomi 27w charger

2 amp charger

I've been hearing a lot about these 2 amp chargers charging devices really really fast. I heard them talking about it on the podcast also but I was wondering if they were safe to use with this device? If so I'm gonna purchase a few. I don't want to damage my new battery so that's why I'm posting this. Thanks.

I charge my N3 with the original charger (2A/5v) and bought a 2 meter usb cable, its 100% fullly charged in about 1-1,5 hrs i guess.
I have A 4Ah charger but with 4 ports can go as high as 2amps on a single port.
Usually it charges at 1amp.
Intelligent charger so ramps down charge when needed

It looks pretty good!!!!!! but I charge my Note3 with the original charger (2A/5v). Thanks for your post.
The original stock charger 5.3V 2.0A is the fastest, it was made for the note 3, even a 5V 2.0A will be slightly slower.
Do also note that the cable plays an important part in the charging time especially in my case where I'm using a third party cable and charger.
Using the following app, it can show how much current it's currently charging. Here mine, post yours if higher then mine. Can someone post the screenshot using the original samsung usb cable and charger as a reference too?

Just got my Note 3. It charges at 1800mAh on the stock charger (see pic).
It's weird though, because my Galaxy S4 charges at 1900mAh on its stock charger. I assumed that with USB 3.0, the Note 3 would somehow charge at a faster rate.

Thanks for the info. I tried charging with a third party USB3.0 cable and a third party charger and it did reaches to 1800mAh.
Using USB3.0 and USB2.0 cable does make a-bit of difference.
The upcoming Oppo Find 7 have this 4.5A charger that provide a technology call VOOC charging.

USB 3.0 makes a difference only to data transfer and not charging the battery when compared to USB 2.

You are right. USB 3.0, the latest version of USB (Universal Serial Bus), provides better speed and more efficient power management than USB 2.0. USB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices; however, data transfer speeds are limited to USB 2.0 levels when these devices inter-operate.

[Q] Highest Wattage/Amperage AC Charger Needed?

The PHONE asks for the power from the charger.
If the phone doesnt ask for more than 2amps, for instance, it doesnt matter if youve got a 100amp charger, it wont give it any more than 2amps.
panyan answers ur question.
However you can reduce the charge time by looking into buying a quick charger 2.0 as the S800 supports this. I repeat: version 2.0! 1.0 does not work with S800.
Details here: https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon/processors/800
For example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qualcomm-Ce...682?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35ec14a922
or
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qualcomm-Ce...187?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d333ddd6b
will work with the phone. I don't have any quick charger so I don't know how much faster such charger act compared to a normal dc adapter.
The main advantage of buying a charger that has more amps output is that the unit will not heat up as much as compared to a 700mAh-1.5A charger. Because it has more performance to give than a smaller charger which is always going at full throttle.
But as panyan said. Your phone won't use more amps even if u buy one that can output like 20 amps..
And as many here has noticed. In the lollipop roms charging the phone is now ridiculous slow. Instead of 2 hours as we saw in KK roms it now takes like 4-6 hours.
In kitkat I topped 1,5A but now I get like 400mA-650mA. Dunno why they changed this in lollipop..
The disadvantage is just a miniscule thing to not even care about.
A charger with higher amps output can have a higher idle current then a smaller charger.
Instead of using something like 0,1W per hour a larger charger might use 0,15W per hour.
There's no linear formula for how it works but it can happen.. you might care about care about this if you are a controlfreak with the elecric bill.
This only applies if you leave your charger in the socket all the time like I do. Some people unplug it some just leave it in ready to charge the phone next time.

How would you even know it's working? Is there any verbose output in the catlog or dmesg?

Thank you! Finally someone bought one!
Now we have the answer. Quick charge does not work.
Edit:
I saw something about that quickcharge has the same connector BUT it uses 7 pins instead of 5 as a regular micro usb cable.
And looking into a microscope I can see that the Z ultra micro usb port has 5, five pins.
So the missing part might actually be an hardware issue here?
Värt att notera är att Micro-Flip inte har stöd för QuickCharge eftersom kontaken endast har fem stycken pinnar framför sju stycken, vilket krävs för turboladdning

I think S8 is only QC 2.0....might be wrong on that. But if true, most QC 3.0 chargers support the 2.0 and 1.0 so you're covered either way with QC chargers

I got the 3.0 fast charger from Choetech with dual USB ports. It cost me 15.99 on Amazon and it works great!
I can confirm the Anker 3.0 Quick Charge 42W works perfectly. Charges 1 S8 at Fast Charge rate and another at Quick Charge rate without any charger overheating.
Your choice in cable quality is also very important when it comes to charging speed and heat reduction. I use Aukey for 3' lengths and Anker PowerLine+ for 6' lengths with no problems at all. Anker can be a little pricey compared to other brands but I have never had a problem with one of their a/c blocks or 12vdc adapters, and thier warranty for usb cables is great.
I've been using this Anker charger all week after my old one that used to fast charge my S7 started to overheat. No problems so far.
Great feedback. Got me AUKEY dual car charger with QC 3.0
I'm using the official one (EP-LN930CBEGWW) and it does fast charge my S8+ as advertised

I have the one which I bought like an year ago. It can with micro USB cable.
My S8+ says fast charging, but doesn't. 30 minutes later still only 20-30%, even though it says 1:20 total charge time from empty on the screen. On the S7, 30% would be at 50-70% charge.

Quick Charge Support?

Does it support Quick Charge 2.0/3.0?
Based on the specifications off the Chinese website, supports only 5v/2a. Not sure hardware, software or licensing limitation.

If the QC3.0 charger is used, it will only up to about 12W. It still needs 2.5 hours.

Do you have any device that would measure the voltage and amperage??
It would be great to get the actual reading...
I have one Mi Pad 4 (3Gb/32Gb Wi-Fi) and with the battery at 20%, charging in a QC3.0 port, with the screen off it went to 1.85Ah at 5.05V. It was around 9Wh. So i can tell that it probably will go to 10Wh maximum and so it has probably only support for QC2.0.
I used a UGreen wall dual charger (one port QC3.0, the other is 2.4Ah) and the cable also a UGreen nylon that supports fast charge. They are found very easily in ebay and I strongly recommend this brand for charging (value/quality). For measuring I also used a very common usb tester that goes up to 5.1Ah/30V found also in ebay.
I can tell that with that same charger and cable, my Le Max 2 goes to a maximum of 24Wh(!) (around 8V/3Ah) when it was around 10-20% battery. So I can tell that the charger is at least outputing that power.
I confirm that no matter if used original charger or QC3 from Mi6 it can't charge 2-100% faster than 3 hours (usually 3h20m). Besides it doesn't show any notification about fast charging so this function must be locked.
IMO this is the biggest flaw in this tablet and I hope Xiaomi will do the same like with its Mi A1. The phone was released without the QC support, but it got unlocked with the Oreo update.
Xiaomi AD07ZM charger show 5V / 1.9A on USB tester with my Mi Pad 4 LTE at 40% battery.

using various chargers and cables, both with miui 9 and 10.
I can say that MI PAD4 - DOES NOT have QC. it uses regular 5V/2A.
on xiaomi mi6, which clearly stated to suppoer QC, you have a sign of 'lightning bolt' on the top, as well as on the lock screen.
Mi-Pad DOES NOT.
is this limitation in hardware or easily bypassable using magisk?
coz the Plus version got at least QC2.0 enabled.
I have an own QC adapter (not from Xiaomi). When I plug in my Mi6 it shows "fast charging". But on my MiPad4 LTE it doesnt say anything about that... So I also would say, that the normal MiPad4 has no QC support.. Maybe the PLUS has it..

that's what the specifications say, BUT mine does definitely not support any kind of QC, neither 2.0 nor 3.0. I have tried it with a variety of QC2/3 chargers and cables that all work fine for QC (QC3.0 in this case) with my Mi Note 3 ("Jason"). On the Mi Pad 4 plus it does NOT quick-charge: neither does the Pad show any indication that it does, nor do my indicator cables (that have different color LEDs for normal or quick charging), nor is the charging time significantly reduced when using a QC charger versus a "normal" charger.
So, in theory it supports QC, in practice it doesn't for whatever reason. It may be supported by the chipset, but may be blocked by the kernel or MIUI.
I can confirm it does not support QC.

Input (line) voltage doesn't really matter for this kind of chargers, they do support a wide range of input voltage. What matters is the output voltage. If it is 5V there is no problem using that.

Question Brand new Nord 2 charging very slow.

Hello, I just got this phone a couple of days ago, basically i migrated from a OnePlus 6 to this Nord 2 and I'm liking it very much so far for the price all things considered, tedious bugs and all.
The gist of it, is it normal for it to charge this slow? I'm using my old 20w dash charge adapter, because imported it from the UK, it came with said adapter and my country does not support that kind of wall plug outlet and I refuse to use an adapter/extender because it won't stick to the wall it's just too heavy.
Did some reading, and I disabled optimized night charging/high performance mode. I figured using an old adapter would be slower than the new one, but are those readings normal?
Also i noticed the Warp Charge animation appears on lock screen but just the blue bubble then it disappears, no Warp Charge logo.
I plan on getting both wall and car warp chargers, in the meantime I'll be using my regular 20w dash chargers.
Thanks in advance.

I can at least confirm that the original second (and last?) generation carplug (12V charger) is also veeeeeeeeeeery slow. It takes at least 2,5 hours from 0 to 100. The 230V plug charges 0-100 in exactly 29 minutes

I'm getting 500mA (2.5W USB base current) when asleep, and 1A (5W) when awake. It's definitely buggy, should always pull 1A even when the screen is off. The phone doesn't seem to have PD, so there's no way to get 15/18W on ordinary PD charger.
Remember that accubattery only reads from a single cell of your battery;
The OPN2 has 2 cells and charges both simultaneously, so it's likely accubattery is only reporting half speed, to one cell, and isn't detecting charge to the other cell, which is half of the battery in this case.
For example, accubattery will likely report your battery health/capacity is only 50% (more often lower), because each cell is 2250 mah, and the total advertised design capacity of the OPN2 is 4500 mah, but is really 2250 mah per cell, and has 2 cells.
This is part of oneplus's warp charge technology, which is really just a rebrand of their sister company's, but it's essentially a 32.5w charge to both cells, which is much easier than providing 65w to a single cell.
Also, do note warp charge only works with the official red cable and the official oneplus charger provided in the box, as the charging circuit in the cable and charger will limit your speed with third party charger/cables as they have not been verified to handle these charging speeds.
Funnily enough even if you have an OPPO cable and charger, which utilizes the same technology, warp charge on oneplus phones still won't activate and it'll charge at a much slower 20w (10w per cell)

VOOC 2.0 (20W 5V/4A) vs S-VOOC 2.0 (65W 10V/6.5A). The OS reported current is always current over both cells, whether it be parallel or in series depends on VOOC version.
