encryption was interrupted and can't complete xiaomi poco f1 - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

I already try to erase everything from Orange Fox and also with TWRP, I am trying to install the MIUI EU ROM but when it is starting it throws me the problem of encryption

Next time, do not interrupt the encryption process, it will make DATA and INTERNAL STORAGE impossible to access. So you have to sacrifice your files in it.
Requrements:
TWRP Official (Don't use OrangeFox, might have some problems)
Flash TWRP via FASTBOOT
fastboot flash recovery [twrp name].img
Click to collapse
Reboot to TWRP
Skip the Encrypted Data, even though you typed your password, it will never decrypt it.
Go to WIPE
FORMAT DATA
DO NOT REBOOT TO DEVICE, Reboot to Recovery
Go to WIPE
ADVANCE WIPE
Select "Internal Storage" then WIPE
Now, reboot the device
After booting, if you encountered that the devices says "Internal storage corrupted because of encryption yada yada"
Boot again to the recovery and go to Wipe, Advance Wipe. Select "DATA" and "INTERNAL STORAGE" then WIPE

But it is combined with loss of data in this partition?
Does this process just change the file system and keep the data?

When changing the file system, it will induce self-clean wipe (includes DATA and INTERNAL STORAGE) and no data including files will be remained.

Skip it. The only importance is to remove encryption and sacrifice all files in INTERNAL STORAGE and in DATA.

You can repair it, but sometimes it wont work, that's why changing partition type will work then revert it back.

Works on Xiaomi mi max 3
Thanks, it works for me on my mi max 3, MIUI 11.0.06

If you are using or changing userdata to f2fs then you need to flash this on your phone I think

The mi Max 3 is very especial, if you have a Mi Max 3 you must use the this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/development/official-orangefox-recovery-project-t3890821
If you don't have a Mi Max 3 you should look for an OrangeFox recovery for you phone.

Hey guys I need some help..
I bought a new mi max3 which is on stock muiu 10
Here are my steps to flash globe rom
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Fastboot twrp to recovery
3. fastboot to boot twrp
4. Could not see any file in twrp
5. Reboot phone and return to stock recovery
6. (At this stage I don't get it why it back to stock recovery everytime. I wasted so much time searching and fastboot different version of twrp or moded twrp but still revert to stock after boot)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-1-nitrogen-t3866084
7. Then I came across a thread on orange fox for max3
8. I tried and viola, I can browse the file now
9. Came across a thread about eu miui rom, it said to fastboot format user data first before flash eu rom, but not System
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/how-to/rom-xiaomi-eu-miui-10-mi-max-3-t3825680
10. I fastboot format user data, wipe data cache internal storage then flash globe rom, which is based on eu miui, remove cache again
11. I boot up the phone successfully but it shows "Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your phone is no longer accessible." only button available oñ screen is reset phone
12. But no response after clicking it
13. Then I came to this thread
14. Tried wipe Data and internal storage and still no luck
(At this stage I am able to go in orange fox and fast boot mode)
15. I haven't tried changing file system to F2FS yet as I am afraid that will brick my phone
Suggested by this thread and this
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...ted-and-cant-be-completed-after-reboot.45640/
Could you guys give me some advice?
Many thanks in advance please

[help] lenovo s856 td-lte stuck on encryption unsuccessful

Hello,
I have received a lenovo s856 td-lte quadcore snapdragon
the smartphone now facing encryption unsuccessful issue and requested to reset.
and i don't know if the device is on usb debug turned ON
things that i have done with the phone
i proceed to reset as requested, format userdata / cache - still resulted to encryption unsuccessful
i hard reset the phone (volume - + power button), format userdata / cache - still resulted to encryption unsuccessful
i reinstall the stock firmware, through hard reset the phone (volume - + power button), update by external sd - still resulted to encryption unsuccessful
i reinstall the stock firmware, using QFIL flasher, completely flashed - still resulted to encryption unsuccessful
p/s as advised to use TWRP fix -
tried to install TWRP with 15 SECONDS ADB INSTALLER following the detailed tutorial, and failed (the adb command not found error message appeared )
is there any other method to flash TWRP?
Do a custom recovery like twrp(recommended) and wipe all the partitions and install stock ROM again after that wipe with the recovery immediately after the flash then flash the phone again it will set things straight

[MOD] Decrypt /data for emui 8

Needed:
Unlocked Honor7x on emui 8 and twrp
I have tested this and found it working.
All you need to do is copy data/hw_init to your external sd
Then format data in twrp and flash the zip attached to this thread
Reboot
If it boots to system, then it's done
If it boots to erecovery and asks you to wipe data, then wipe data and boot to twrp
Make a data backup, format data, restore the back up you just made
Copy back hw_init from external sd to data
Reboot
Your device will be decrypted
more detailed instructions will follow

I did similar. I made almost same edits to fstab file in boot.img( removed verity, and "filencrypt") flashed modded boot.img and formatted /data. Phone boots normal, and twrp has full access to /data. But a side effect is developer options menu force closes when try to open it. Do you know why?

this is for emui 5 , android 7
It gave the trouble of crashing the settings app. so I did not continue using it.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
copy the folder "/data/hw_init" before continuing.
Better way to apply this , instead of formatting in twrp, just factory reset in stock recovery. This way you do not wipe out the hw_init folder.
once done factory reset in stock recovery, plug in usb cable and select reboot from recovery screen. then hold volume down. Thais will reboot to fastboot.
Then "fastboot flash boot boot-decrypt.img"

sorry I realized my mistake and edited my post, I was looking for an emui 8 solution, I'll keep trying unless you have an edited ramdisk or kernel img, not sure which one does force encrypt. Edit: Honestly I'm not on EMUI 8 currently, I am in the process of flashing gsi treble and wanted to decrpyt while my data was wiped.
EDIT: Got it, fastboot -w and factory reset in stock recovery did the trick along with flashing the included zip file

Okay ,so i was on miui9 and decided to flash miui10. I flashed it and restarted the phone, the boot up was talking too Long so I thought maybe the flash was not successful. And I rebooted into TWRP. But unfortunately it encrypted it. I got around it using default_password . But flash and wipes were not successful anymore. I couldn't Access internal storage too. I tried restarting and this time it said " encryption was interrupted, you can no longer access your data, format your phone to unlock... Etc"
Please tell me how i can backup or decrypt my phone's storage. Twrp , fastboot are still accessible. Please help I can't format the phone.

umm, eh, i didnt understand a word you were saying after "flash twrp"
I did this. Coming from miui 10.0.4
- Restart in fastboot mode.
- Flash TWRP
- Enter recovery. Flash magisk. Maybe here u will got a problem with data partition... ( I have it.. my solution was using orange fox).
- After this u got your device rooted... Restart in system. Install magisk APK.
If you have that problem with the data partition...
Here in the forum there is a lot of info about that.
After you flashed twrp from adb via "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" command; hold volume up + power on/off button until you see the teamwin title from your phone. So you must be in twrp now.. Your data will be crypted because using twrp for the first time. Go to wipe - format data, write "yes" and confirm. Reboot recovery by going to ‘Reboot’ -> ‘Recovery’. go to the ‘Mount’ menu. press the ‘Enable MTP’ button. Transfer Magisk 17.2 to your phone's internal storage (check other posts for guide, you will use adb sideload) or you can just move your magisk file to your sd card or your flash drive(you will need otg cable to connect flash drive to phone) . Return to menu, go to install, press magisk.zip and then swipe to flash it. When the installation is complete, press the ‘Wipe Cache/Dalvik’ button. And that's it now just reboot your system

I'm stuck on Orange Fox for hours now. In twrp there is a chance for loosing my data, so I am using orange fox. After unlocking the bootloader I flashed the Orange Fox recovery and while performing a nandroid backup, it shows me a error saying "error on uevent". But the nandroid backup finished and so I carried on with the process. Now I wiped my data, system and dalvik and normal cache. I clicked on install and on the ROM(arrow) and swiped right. The installation after sometime of progress abruptly ends giving Error 7. So I thought of Restoring back my nandroid backup and it did complete but with an error 255. Can you help me?

PS: I hope you rebooted the recovery after doing all that wiping, and before doing anything else.

Password in all recoveries except TWRP 3.3.0.0

First of all I must apologize for my low level of English.
I will try to explain something strange that happens to my Pocophone since the arrival of the OTA with Android 10 and Miui11
Since I bought the Poco I have always used TWRP as recovery.
I currently use the 3.3.0.0 official TWRP version downloaded from its official app and I have no problem until the past weekend-
However, I have tried installing OrangeFox Recovery Project (OFRP), PitchBlack Recovery Project (PBRP) and an unofficial TWRP mod whose name is twrp-3.3.1-2-beryllium-adil2.img
And now I tell you I miss it.
If I boot into recovery using TWRP 3.3.0.0 it does not ask me for password, but if I flash OFRP, PBRP or mod 3.3.1.2 adil 2, it always asks me for a password when booting and tells me that the partition /data is encrypted. I do not know the password and I have never encrypted the Poco. Also the 3 revoveries show that is not installed any Tom, but when a reboot the system works perfectly.
Some colleagues have indicated to me that the data partition had been encrypted so I followed the next process to try to install a clean rom.
1. Boot in bootloader with Power + Vol-
2. Via fastboot flash OFRP
3. Boot in recovery (OFRP)
4. Format data and factory reset
5. Reboot recovery OFRP
6. Wipe: cache, Dalvik/Cache, Data and System partitions
7. Install rom XiaomiEU V11.0.4.0.QEJMIXM.zip
8. Flash DFE + Magisk
9. Reboot system
10. Complete ROM configuration
When I start again in recovery, it asks me for a password, informs me that data is encrypted and I cannot mount it, and I can't install anything.
However, if I flash TWRP 3.3.0.0 via fastboot, it no longer asks me for a password and I can mount the data partition and work normally.
If I flash again OFPR, PBRP or twrp-3.3.1-2-beryllium-adil2.img, ask me for a password again and it tells me that / data is encrypted
I tried to delete from /data/system the files locksettings.db, locksettings.db-shm and locksettings.db-wal but it continues asking me for a password if the recovery is always different of TWRP 3.3.0.0

First off, your post belongs in the Q & A section. Please ask a moderator to move it as it has nothing to do with ROMs or development. Secondly, if official TWRP works, use it. Stop switching between recoveries and getting yourself all flustered.
PS: your English is fine. Don't sweat it.

You're right. Here, in my country, we usually use this saying "if something works, don't touch it"
I wanted to try other recoveries because the official TWRP does not support USB-OTG access well.
About one year ago, I tried using a 256GB flashdrive with a m.2 ssd to perform a faster backup of the rom, but TWRP don't recognize the drive.
I read in these forums that TWRP had a problem managing USB-OTG and installed PBRP and it worked fine until last week I received the Miui11/Android10 OTA. After flashing it, PBRP started asking me for the password and displaying the message "I don't detect any rom installed". Despite having a recent backup (I always do it before flashing) I was a little scared.
I decided to reinstall TWRP by fastboot and I was surprised that the rom had been updated and everything worked ok.
As some colleagues tell me that I have the encrypted / data partition, I tried to make a format of the / data partition and new installation, with the result I commented above.
However, when I received the previous OTA, which was Android9 and Miui11, there was no problem.
I just wanted to share this strange situation.
I appreciate your message.

Thank's for your answer.
I don't know how conctact with the moderator. I'm a veteran user of the XDA-forums but I don't usually write frequently because my difficulty with the English language.

So bro twrp official never give encryption error if I flash miuiQ using it right ?
Hey there!
I have the same Situation here and I figured at least some points out:
- the Upgrade to Android 10 encrypted the data Partition. You can see that in in your phone settings under security and password. For some security reasons of Android Q I guess.
But what password and how to change is a mystery. There are tons of articles out there which are related to "encrypt with lock screen password" but thats something different. We have this Option too in developer settings but it is not Set. So the way of our New encrypted device is still a Secret.
- Official twrp is the only one to decrypt the data correct. If you go to the "save logs" section in twrp and save it you can see the log and it says that it decrypts with Standard password. But I wasnt able to find out that this is. And as I stated before we dont use the lockscreen password to decrypt, I tried to change and disable it but guess what... I didn't change anything.
I hope we can figure out as a community what's exactly going on here.

I have checked what you say about ""encrypt with lock screen password" in developer settings and in my case it is disabled.

Seriously?
I will not be able to try it until tomorrow. The motherboard of my PC has said that it doesn't work anymore and I am waiting for the arrival of a new one.

Go to Twrp > advanced > copy logs. They are saved on your sd card.

I checked the TWRP logs and have you reason
Code:
I:Unmounting main partitions...
Successfully decrypted with default password.
I:Decrypt adopted storage starting
I:PageManager::LoadFileToBuffer loading filename: '/data/system/storage.xml' directly
I:successfully loaded storage.xml
Updating partition details...
I am using SHRP recovery for poco for 2 months now and I haven't faced any encryption problem (recovery asking for password). I would recommend you to try it buddy.

I don't think it works, but sure I will try it.
I have already tried everything I have been reading through many forums and I always get the same result.: the ****ing password
I have tried to deactivate the PIN, screen pattern, passwords, I have even logged off the Mi account and then I have tried to flash OFRP, PBRP and a TWRP mod and always, always ask me for password
I've tried booting on TWRP
1. Factory reset
2. Format data (not only wipe) (I answer "yes")
3. Reboot recovery
4. wipe cache, Dalvik / cache, Data and System
5 Install rom (miui_POCOF1Global_V11.0.4.0.QEJMIXM_74f88e6c8f_10.0.zip)
5. Flash twrp
6. Flash orange fox + DFE + magisk
7. Start rom and configure.
And without entering a PIN or blocking pattern, only gmail and Mi account and when returning to reboot in recovery it asks me again for a password.
SOLUTION:
I removed lockscreen password and flashed official TWRP.
Now it's decrypted successfully
The same kind of thing happened to me. I wish that I had seen this thread before. Lost all my data. ???
