I unlocked the bootloader using paid service few weeks back. Once unlocked, i use magisk to root.
Try to unlock the bootloader through nokia website after you turn the unlock option on , it might be working now.

I still have the option greyed out.
Edit - I tried unlocking the bootloader from the website. The app says that this device isn't supported as of now.

There's a way out.Mine was also greyed out.
You just have to disable and enable developer option again and then immediately check on OEM Unlocking.
Hope it helps.

I've tried to reach Nokia center, they said our model is still not available for that, only Nokia 8 can be unlocked.
But if the option is there, and I have it enabled, why can't I unlock it?

ROOT and ROMs support?

Hello there.
I'm thinking about buying this phone, but I'd like to know:
1. Is it possible to root the phone? I haven't found any info on xda, but there is something here --> http://en.miui.com/thread-215325-1-1.html Can someone confirm that it works?
2. What about ROMs? I see that most of the Xiaomi devices have some (mi3/4 even have official CM support), here the section is empty. Is it not possible to develop ROMs for this device, or is it just a matter of time?
3. Is the bootloader locked?

Yes. This firmware saves me when the system is on my phone falls in the experiments. How to flash is here to see (only drivers easier are put, without such problems).
Or you can put the firmware via adb-interface. So I put my localized and tweaked version.
With unlocked bootloader yet like no one - Xiaomi needs to receive the approval to unlock. A request for this here (Xiaomi account needs).
Hi Guys, anybody succeeded in rooting v7.2.4.0?, i also need to know if there is a way to make google play as default app store
Think we'll need the global rom with no Chinese app store installed for Google to be a default.
Think either miui or xiaomi.eu sites there is a rooted latest version.... Not sure though

If u want to unlock by officia method then u ll have to wait till xiaomi servers are updated with ur info. U may have have to wait for 7-14 days after receiving unlock permissions. The time may vary. I myself got permission to unlock on 11th june and successful unlocked on 30th. U can try to contact xiaomi on miui forum... Or else unofficial method is available on xda by rajdip.

Make sure that oem unlocking and debugging is ON under developer options. Check if your phone is registered in your MI account. I think your sim card has to be inserted too.
Good luck

I don't know if installing xiaomi unified driver will do any difference but when I plug phone while in fastboot, windows shows xiaomi android interface. I installed this driver as unsigned and windows has to be in insecure mode. But again before you boot phone in fastboot, open mi account on your phone and check if phone is verified, must not be unknown.
I have Mi Max to and I unlocked it without any special driver or ROM and on 1st try but with Redmi note 3 SD took me several days.

no reunlock after edl flash

Hi.
I was on Nexus experience after I had unlocked officially and had a hardware problem.so, I wanted to try stock again to check if the SD card wasn't working on custom ROMs. I couldn't restore a backup I had, so I had to flash miui in edl mode.
I did that and was on global stable. Now I wanted to try a nougat ROM. I checked if the bootloader was still unlocked and it wasn't.
The problem is that I can't reunlock it again using mi flash, as it says that my device can't be unlocked ... What should I do?
Question. Why do you want to relock?

By what I have read in the meantime, I tink fu.... xiaomi protects the phone after edl mode. This is to protect customers against the shops, that flash their own modded roms... Do you know if this is the case?

Huawei stopped giving unlock codes for unlocking. Anyway there is no point of unlocking bootloader, because there is no custom roms
To unlock bootloader just use:

DC Unlock app or HCU.
You need 4 credits, in my case I was on android 8 update already and it worked flawlessly!

Klem.. You are wrong. There are a few roms available for the phone which, of course, require an unlocked bootloader. So. IF you have an unlock code, there are roms for international versions: US devices are limited at the moment. IF you don't have a code, then you are unable to flash anything.

as many xda-goers know, in order to install modified roms, you must have the unlocked terminal that must authorize Xiaomi to say for security problems. For Pocofone I had waited 170 hours, I was hoping that even for the mi9 was the same but aime so it is not. If you are not interested in other Roma you do not have to unlock anything, quiet
Did you get the EU version or the Chinese version?
EU version
Interesting, now I downloaded the unlock software without specific permission from xiaomi. I thought that in order to get the software you need to wait. But does the wait start after plugging in the phone? Just checking. I will be getting the phone next week, is there a way to start the procedure without actual phone?
Is the Chinese version also available for bootloader unlock? I am in the US and looking to get one.
