HOW TO - 1836p video from front facing camera on P30 PRO - Huawei P30 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

1/ Download Manual Cam:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lensesdev.manual.camera.pro
+ Supports all 3 rear cameras
- Paid
OR
Download Open Camera:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera
+ Free
- Supports just main rear lens
2/ Open app. Switch to front facing camera, in options change resolution to 1836p (16:9)
3/ Optionally you can also increase video bit rate in options.
4/ Optionally for better (less noisy) low light video you can manually set shutter speed to 1/24th of second for example and reduce video frame rate to 24fps. You have to manually set ISO to get correct exposure. Auto exposure does not work in manual mode.
Note: Stabilization does not seem to work in this mode = less crop but more hand shake

Manual camera.....How switch between 3 camera?....

Very top left icon in viewfinder. Small camera icon with number inside it, by clicking on it you can cycle thru cameras.

[Q] Question about 9100 front webcam frame rate limited to 15fps

Hi,
I try to access the front camera of this phone.
From the debug information, I get that "preview-frame-rates" of the front camera is only 15.
Therefore, when I record a video with this front camera, the maximum fps I can achieve is 15.
However, when I use the default Camera app from the phone and try to record a video from the front camera, I can get around 25 fps. Not sure how this app can do this. Any comments are welcome.
Another interesting thing is: by using the Camera app from the phone, there are two modes with front camera, one for video saving and one for image saving.
It is very obvious that the live preview in video saving mode is much faster (around 25fps) than the live preview in image saving mode (around 15fps judged by eyes), but it is also darker. I guess they use different settings for exposure control for these two.
Is there anyway we can get achieve a higher preview-frame-rate of the front camera ideally through android sdk???
Any insights are welcome.
Thanks.
George

Camera manual mode isn't really

Has anyone noticed that you can set iso in manual mode and then modify shutter speed and boom iso is set to auto again? How can I have need control? Love the size and weight of this phone but camera is kind of weak compared to s7.
Yes, I would like to adjust ISO and shutter speed togheter and separately, but as far as I know this is not possible. I hope they can adjust it in future release.....
Manual Camera lets you adjust both of them independently, but you can only take pictures up to 8 mp. I'm really no too familiar with camera APIs and such (or photography for that matter) so I don't know if this has any implications, but I would say that picture quality is very similar otherwise. If you don't mind the resolution and price ($3) it's not too bad. Here's a comparison: Stock / Manual Camera
I would say the stock camera does a good job of setting the ISO on its own, but I understand the need for manual controls.
No it's not! Even in 3 mp if you set for example 50 iso and than set shutter speed to for example 1/50 and go back to setting...... voilà iso is in auto mode again

Manual Camera the app, not manual mode in the stock camera
Play Store
I also tried Camera FV-5 because I used it on my Nexus 4, and though it does support manual control of ISO and shutter speed (still with the same 8mp cap,) focus breaks completely when the shutter speed is set low which makes in unusable.

Questions about OIS and EIS [solved]

Hello Everyone
How do you enable and or tell of OIS and EIS are enabled?
When I go into the settings for the stock camera app there is a toggle switch labeld "video stabilization" in the "common" section but it is set to off and grayed out. Note this is when using the rear camera. If I switch to the front camera this toggle switch is now no longer grayed out and is set to on.
Thank You
I think it depends on the resolution, try lowering resolution and see. The way EIS works, it needs extra pixels around visible frame, to shift whole recorded frame, so object stays in the same spot on frame even if the lens points differently due to shake. Either there is not enough extra pixels to compensate, or not enough CPU power to calculate the frame shift, not sure which, so not available in certain modes.
Solution
It would seem that one cannot have both video stabilization and tracking AF enabled. Once I turned off tracking AF the video stabilization toggle was no longer grayed out.

Use multiple camera's at once

Hi,
I'm looking for apps or other modes that can use the multiple camera's on the S10 Exynos at the same time.
Previously my S7 could take a photo with the back and front camera at the same time, this option has disappeared apparantly. It was called Dual Camera mode
Also missing :
- Video collage (4 videos , shot in sequence, as 1 videogrid)
- Virtual shot
- Surround shot
thanks for any feedback
