Do IMEI unlock method(s) still work? - Huawei MediaPad M5 Questions & Answers

So I have read that people were able to unlock their bootloader with this method when they had 169 and higher updates. So people with LTE models like sht-al09 were unlockable and sht-w09 could downgrade and unlock. It seems that soon after (i think) with the october security update the downgrade method stopped working. I have a sht-w09 with 190 and october security. I downgraded to 156 but october security remains and dc unlocker (hcu client) does not work with october security. So what I am asking is if the IMEI method still works (example: global unlocking solutions, etc.)?
Otherwise I think I am looking for a used unlocked 8.4 for sale
Thanks for your help.

Change Moto Z update path

Sorry for the noob question but I have a retus Moto Z (bought from Amazon) that hasn't gotten 7.0 nougat and is still on the July security update. Wondering if i could flash the reteu Nougat and stay on that upgrade path which generally seems to get updates first.
Yea i'd love to know the answer to this as well. Also, if we go on that new update, will my sim still be unlocked?
Unfortunately, SIM locking isn't something that can be fixed with flashing a new ROM. However, there are plenty of websites that SIM unlock your phone for a small fee.

no unlock bootloader & no custom-Roms any more?

Huawei has apparently closed the the possibility to unlock the bootloader for the future.
Does this mean, there is no other way to unlock the bootloader with their devices and instal custom ROMs?
You can still get unlock codes. I have got mine for Mate 10 just today in the event I decide I want to unlock after 22nd July.
Thanks for this hint, halfcoast!
But i - and a lot other users - do not have a huawei phone yet and only think about buying one in the future depending on if it's unlockable or not.
Does the "huawei service" stop on the 22nd July and no unlock codes and no other unlock method, no customROMs for the mate 10 and their other phones afterwards?

My understanding is that after the 22nd, they won't be providing any codes to unlock anymore.
U can't unlock bootloader after 22.07.2018 = the death for custom roms
I will sell my Mate 10 Pro and never buy again a Huawei device. So easy...

Mate 10 lite bootloader unlock or there's is a way to update without bootloader?

Hello xda.
So I got this problem I bought my mate 10 lite 9 months ago and at that time it was Android 7 and I waited for Android 8 for the face unlock (I know I am wired lol) and also I missed the opportunity to get my code to unlock my bootloader. And I haven't received the update to date. I contacted Huawei and they didn't say much -.-.
My question is there a way to receive my update without unlocking bootloader
My info

Root Android 9 Security Patch August 2019 with vulnerability

Dear all,
i'm owning an Honor 10 and since Huawei is no longer providing Bootloader unlock codes i'm looking for a way to root my device anyway.
My Honor 10 is running on Android 9 with security patch from August 2019.
So it should still have the vulnerability where you can run root code what has been fixed in September or October.
Unfortunately i lost the specific CVE-No.
Is my assumption right that with the August 2019 Security Patch i should be able to root my phone without bootloader unlock code?
If yes where can i find the code i have to run?
Thanks for your support.

Versions of Samsung Galaxy S9+

I have seen several discussions on rooting the S9+ and they seem to all reference the model SM-965O. Somewhere I read that SM-965U meant U.S.A. and O meant Overseas. Is this correct? And what about Q I've seen SM-965Q also but don't know what that means. I foolishly purchase a SM-965U and then discovered that it was a U.S.A. model and could not be rooted but if I had purchased a SM-965O it would have been a Overseas model and I could root it. It would be great if these designations were more prevalent if this is truly the case. Can anyone confirm these model numbers?
Thanks for listening.
BTW I contacted Samsung about OEM Unlock and they are to get back to me. I'll post what I find out.
depending on your bootloader level you can maybe root without unlocking
