Latest update (June 1 2019)
THIS METHOD ONLY WORKS WITH JUNE-JULY PATCH SINCE NOKIA HAS STOPPED USING EVENWELL APPS
I am getting around 6 hours and 40 mins to around 7 hours 30 mins of SOT after doing this and before that i was just getting around 4 hours to 5 hours i'm not sure if you are going to get the same results as me. I use Netflix Youtube and Facebook most of the time so its a moderate use.
The reason why you need to update to the latest software is as for me the past updates have bad battery in my experience and i think June 1 Update fixes that.
STEPS
Note: this is what i did im not sure if its going to work for you
1) Update your phone to the latest software ( June 1 2019 )
2)Back up your data and reset your phone
3)After reset Do not connect to wifi and skip all the setup first
4) Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Top right 3 dot menu > Show System
5) Find Battery Protection click on it and disable Allow modifying system settings
6) Find Power saver and Power Monitor and Disable the allow modifying system settings
7) Find ALL packages that has com.evenwell in them and disable them
8) Turn off Digital well being ( optional I have mine disabled and i think it does help with battery i'll update you guys if i find anything with it )
9) Restart
10) Turn on Adaptive Battery ( Optional I have mine enabled its up to you if you want to enable it maybe compare the difference )
11) Restrict apps that hogs battery Such as facebook etc.
12) give it a few days to adjust to your usage

Sadly no, there are no options as to my knowledge that don't require adb for other steps

Hey guys, I found a helpful method(accidentally) which is working very well in my case. Hope it works for you too.
The device is getting heated even with given charger. Once I had to use oneplus 6's charger as I didn't have my charger available at that time. Then the device got even more heated and the charge was very quick. So does the discharge time, it came down to zero within two hours. I assumed that the discharge time is directly proportional to the amount of heating while charging. So, I switched off my mobile while charging. It got a little warm and to my surprise the discharging time is very long which means a good battery backup. Just try switching off the mobile while charging and let me know if it works for you. Thanks!!

UPDATE
-Screenshots added
Also i got a 7 hours SOT but i cant find the screenshot i might not have it backed up after i reset the phone

I turned off my adaptive display/ auto brightness
and when im in doors i usually keep my brightness 0-15%
and when im in outdoors i keep it around 25-50
and when the sun is shinning i mostly keep it at 75%
Just keep the brightness until you can see the phone screen clearly

mark. this is very useful. Thanks a lot!

Does anyone got any improvement in battery? Rite now i am getting 6hrs SOT with 66% brightness and 4g data on full time

I have adaptive brightness on so i dont know if that counts, but i get around 4 - 4:30 hrs max SOT. 4G on all the time. Good network coverage in my place too.
I do not game too

UPDATE
I've been trying out 2 different chargers for a while now and it seems that different chargers does affect battery life (at least for me).
I've tried my old charger that came from a Nokia 6 ( 5V 1A) my battery drains faster than it should be but when I was using my charger that came with the phone (5V 2A) battery drain is fine.
I'll post screenshots when i can.

Yes my phone is on August Security Patch (2019). Well do we need to clear data in Health Services before we charge the phone ? Does it affect battery life if we don't eliminate data ?

I don't know mate. You will have to read the OP to find out.

I noticed my battery usage shows 7hrs left after full charge where it was supposed to be 12-14hr ?
I checked the phone the battery is getting charged as usual (using original charger & cable) Is there any problem ?

Battery usage estimation should not affect your battery life its only an estimation and will not affect any battery performance its only based on your previous usage and yes it still does work in the latest build of pie (august 2019)

Ok but I just wanna know how this works actually when I bought (from June 2019) the phone was showing close to 13-14hr left after full charge but now it is 9-10 hrs (after full charge) so battery degraded?
When is the perfect time to replace battery? Is it like we should measure SOT for battery life performance ?

[Q] Serious Battery Drain

I really have a bad battery drain, I fully charged my new Samsung Galaxy S2 from 0% battery to 100% when it was off (after a calibration).
I have set all tips for battery consuming etc, etc.. I installed BetterBatteryStats and it seems like gtalk_async_conn (Google Services) used 17% of the battery in the last 40 minutes.
Is there anything I can do to disable this? I disabled the sign-in in Gtalk settings, but it's still wasting my battery.

It's not in the list, I can't find "Google services" either.
Here is a screenshot, I can't find anything about this service / process. How do I freeze it? I do not use Gtalk.

if you are using BetterBatteryStats no need for an own thread, there's one already (use search).
In your OP you mixed count and percent, your problem is more than gtalk if your consumption is as you said.
following the hot-to for bbs start with giving us some details about awake and screen on but do yourself a favor, let a mod close this thread and post your questions together with the missing info in the right thread.

GTalk has not used 17% as you mistakenly believe. It has used only 3.6% as per your attached screenshot. So GTalk is not the only service responsible for your battery drain.
That said, it is a fact acknowledged by almost all the owners of SGS II that Low Battery Life and Low Volume of sound output are the two sore points of this phone. Samsung should seriously do something to improve Battery Life and Sound volume of this phone. Hope something comes up in the next updates.
Maps also should be running. Must be also one of the reasons.
And juice defender also consume battery.

3 days???? Which ROM? A lot of people exaggerate here. I'm on CF Rooted stock KF3 with 200+ apps and it lasts for only about 18 hours in normal usage.
i also want to see that 3 day....
Yup juice defender is nothing if you know what your doing.
Example : if you an app and minimize it it will be running in background if you wont be using the app for quite awhile kill the app using task killer. If example you use facebook app. And you u are using it frequently but you kill it and reopen it. It will consume more battery. Only kill app that you wont use.
And disable data went not using and use 2g network when not using data.

i guess we are in the same boat then, better battery stats also show me nothing suspicous,
with little to normal use, my s2 can hardly go for 6 to 7 hours, everything off, only 3g on..
that is on stock rom, im now testing CM7 build 38
Charged 100% go recovery wipe battery stats..
It take sometime for the bateery to function properly.. a day or two.. so after the calabaration let it go to nearly 10% then charge till 100% without disturbing it.

most definitely, i was a big fan of Juice Defender Ultimate but the reality is it actually uses up almost as much as it saves, this was pointed out to me and it is 100% true, since i froze it yesterday im having superb battery life my phone wont die until tomorrow i estimate ill get up to around 40 hours with about 1 call, 15/20 texts and medium internet usage, and some music so far and ive 47% left, the battery was charged to 100% at 23.50 last night and i left it on all night with data enabled and the drain was only 6% in almost 8 hours..

[Q] Battery going old?

Hey, my phone has been bought in on September 2011.
I noticed battery keeps my phone shorter than it's been before.
Is it either by ICS or battery is just getting old and less reliable?
I use XWLPG and my hourly battery usage is about 0.8% to 1.4% (battery monitor).
Sometimes after I unplug from charger and keep phone alone, battery usage is about 0.1%... dunno why and how....
I use only few background apps:
- network type marker (to show I am in either 3G or 2G)
- TotallRecall for call recording
I know in GB I could unplug phone for night and by few hours I could loss max 1-2 percent (sometimes even 0% by 6 hours).
Now I lose usually 5-7%.
Do you have similar symptoms in your phones?

hey pal i also bought my s2 during the same period and my batt is good enough even now
u have to check which apps is causing the batt drain for u since in ICS, also turn off ur data connection when not in use since they also cause heavy batt drain
u can try Better battery app from store to see the wakelocks that is causing batt drain
ps- before all change ur modem and see
There are a couple of reasons why your battery is performing like that.
Some of my friends have reported lesser battery life when they switched to ICS, even when running the exact same apps. So you might want to try different ICS firmwares/roms to see if that will make a difference. Although, I'm using XWLPG also and it drops ~7% overnight. Same as your's.
Also, if you find that your battery levels are wack, then you might have a faulty battery. On my GNote, I sometimes have to push the battery upwards while turning the phone on so that the contacts touch. I think that it may have been due to constant charging (may be wrong) So, yes, there is a possibility that your battery is getting 'old'.

I don't use data connection and use same apps like in GB. I did check and deep sleep works, wakelocks test will have to wait till tomorrow when I charge battery fully^^

Hmm I am glad to hear you've got similar power drain during night. Perhaps ICS is really more powerhungry than GB. I will test in Better battery app for wakelocks occurence.
I don't know how and in what way the battery monitor reliable can be, especially when I see hourly battery drain. Generally sometimes I see power drain at 0.1-0.2%, sometimes at 1% but in same time CPU was doing nothing... (deep sleep).
I found Camera eats a lot of power compared to GB... or it is only my imagination
OK I checked Better Battery Aps but frankly dunno how to read values.

Battery question

I've had my m8 for 4 days now. I've seen people post their battery stats and they get great battery life. I have gsam installed and my battery life compared to others doesn't look too good. Do I need to wait a few more days to see how good the battery is on this phone?
Sent from my HTC One_M8
Yes
Most people that are getting a day's + out of the battery I suspect have stuff like autosync etc turned off. I'm one of those type of people. Averages per complete charge according to Gsam on my phone is currently at 1d 11.3h (7h 24m active) Screen 4h 13m (3h 1m Max). I got my phone on July 30th but didn't install Gsam until Aug 7th so the current averages are calculated from Aug 7th.
There is a battery thread in the general M8 forum that has a lot of good information in it.

How long will it take for me to see results? I also have auto sync off cause I tend to miss things if I don't do them manually. But I might be forgetting some settings. Care to share the other settings that I need to turn off?

The link I provided in my reply has great information in it. I'd list stuff but I suggest reading through that thread. All the battery life experts are there.
As far as Gsam - some experts for that app are in that thread as well. The averages in Gsam are a running average over each time you charge your phone to 100% (this can be reset in preferences which also has a bunch of other calculation settings).

There are more apps and services listed if I scrool down that is just the first screen. I know the other thread can be a lot to read. I just read a few pages at a time. 138 pages in a thread..........
You could root and get wakelock access but if you don't want to root I suggest disable all apps and accout auto sync and location services. Then you can monitor with Gsam over a day then start turning stuff you want to use back on one at a time and see how it effects your battery life.

Sent from my HTC One_M8
Sure unless you use those. Actually AT&T hotspots may be a big help if you disable it. What it does is scan with WiFi for AT&T hotspots so if you never use them disable it so it won't scan all the time. City ID I'm not familiar with. I know I disabled it along with other apps I never use.
These are my stats for the day. I noticed that my radio is the same as my battery life. Is that bad? I also changed my data settings to 4g
Edit:
I'm using the XDA app and it won't let me upload.

Are these stats good? The held awake time is still too high for me. My radio has always been the same as my battery life. Is that normal?
@ cjbart1009
Looks good to me. I'll take 19 hours of battery life any day of the week. :good:
Gsam reports my phone radio as being on the entire charge cycle as well. My only guess on that is there is a small trickle current to the phone radio so it will receive calls even if it is asleep.

Battery life feedback

Hi all,
fews days ago i bought alg g watch (79€ in France in all Darty)
100% battery at 11:00 this morning,
73% battery at 23:30 this evening
Firmware 5.0.2 stock, stock applications, screen always on set to OFF, fit on, many notification (mail, twitter, fb, pushbullet and so ), and some friends on mine playing with google now at lunch.
This mean 23% for 12h of common usage.
happy. For a first watch, for 79€ only, for same hardware than new flagship (urbane) we still have a very good toy ^^

custom watchface (if you have) drain a lot of battery
Most of the time I only charge mine once every 2 or 3 days, but sometimes I have a very quick battery drain (screen always off, on on rotate, facer/watchmaker)
I have no idea of what causes it (nothing particular in the battery stats).
Ever since I rooted and installed a custom rom on my nexus 6 my LG G watch has been getting much better battery life. It's probably because of the decrease in notifications and less bluetooth disconnections. My watch use to only last till mid day, now at night I have 50% left.

I charge every day, more to have it available for use and not about to turn off when I go out.
But, I too am having fast drain issues. Usually, the trend is perfectly fine, like in the OP, but it will get into a faster drain rate and deplete after a couple to a few hours instead. Today it happened just sitting all day off my wrist. Went from full charge to 6% in 3-4 hours.
The battery will drain a fair amount on the first day of use since things get cached and downloaded from the phone. I easily get through a day with always-on screen on, but lately I have switched to disable always-on screen and tilt to wake so I have a little bit more of a buffer for those days where I am very active.
I just receive it few days ago and it is brand new one.
After full charge why mine G watch only live for 6-7 hours and run out of batt?
I use all stock and upgrade to 5.0.2. I think it should be longer usage.
Any solutions?

New LG G Watch
Just got it 2 days ago.
I first went through the upgrade to 5.1.1.
I have no custom wear faces on it. I ha it first at always on and then not.
I lost a lot of battery in 3 hours - 90% to 18%. Yes I had notifications on - what is the point if you don't have notifications on.
Please help.
really strange, after flashing 5.1 firware (after full wipe), i lost 2% per hour max.
I'm pretty ok with the battery life on 5.1.1 - haven't use my G Watch for a while now and thought I'd test the new version.
With display always on, notifications on, 50+ apps installed in total, Google Fit running and quite a few custom faces installed (using "Speeds" with time and step counter atm) and my stats show i get almost 30 hours of use.
Testing with display off today. Atm Wear Battery Stats estimates I'll run out of battery tomorrow at 6:20pm and I took it off charger this morning at 6am.
Still nothing stellar, but pretty decent so far.
I use it with display always on.
When on 5.0, It would drain to have about 30-40% after 1 day (from 6:00 to 23:00). Without the "always on", it could manage 3 to 4 days (but that was on 4.4).
On 5.1, it seems to manage to get 50-60% left after one day (again with "always on"). If I forget to charge it, it would be possible to squeeze another day out of it (with some luck).
I did, however had some days (on 5.0) where the watch would get warm and drain itself in 2-4 hours. These were very rare (I always thought these came from an app that got stuck), but in the week before the 5.1 update, I got this three times. I think it was somehow related to the update (maybe an incompatibility in the new Google Play services,...)
My battery life has been stellar on 5.1.1. On the earlier versions, I would be at 40-50% when I got home from work. After the update, I am at 70-75% when I get home.

Battery life is great, but the bad side is that now I often forget to recharge it and today the battery was empty. I can't remember last time I recharged it and the charger is at home.
Damn, i'm complaining because the battery last longer :silly:
something is wrong 3 factory reset later and not bt use and after few hours empty
my battery life decreased dramatically after the 5.1.1 update
After 5.1.1, my watch is lasting much longer. No more battery drain. Happy here!
Likewise, much better battery life and I can turn off FIT to improve it even more.

Question Why is the battery so bad?

Screen on Time (SoT) of only 4,5 hours on latest xiaomi.eu ROM. GSAM Battery Monitor reports Android system is hogging all the battery. I've let my battery go to 0% and slow charge to 100%, I've used the "adb shell cmd package bg-dexopt-job" command to optimise the apps. But these steps made not a significant difference
I haven't tried removing all the xiaomi apps through adb but I doubt it will make the SoT go up to 7h like normal current phones in this price range. Is there anything we can do?
I am on official MIUI 12.5.5.0 and i am facing the same Issue, android system is taking up to 30-40% of battery, i have tried pretty much everything, factory reset, debloating the bloatware, discharge to 0 then charge to 100%, switching to 60 hz refresh rate and after all that, i am still hitting 4-5 hrs of SOT, which is insanely bad...
It's not the hardware problem, it's the MIUI problem, our best bet is to wait for new MIUI update that MIGHT fix this.
If someone thinks that this is hardware problem, i would like to hear your argument for this, but i am 100% sure that this is MIUI's problem, since android system is the problem.
last eu is very hungry rom..some are back to 12.0.3 or more recent...or you have to move to GSI roms...
What is the SoT on GSI ROMS?
The oldest ROM on xiaomi.eu is 12.0.7.0, but it's a fastboot.zip ROM, will it wipe internal storage or is it ok to dirty flash?

I do think it will wipe internal storage but i am not 100% sure, since it's an older version
So I just used the windows_fastboot_update_rom.bat from xiaomi.eu_multi_MI11Lite5G_V12.0.7.0.RKICNXM_v12-11-fastboot so it wouldn't wipe internal data. But after that I got stuck in MIUI recovery 5.0 loop and no way out except wiping data.. I'm waiting for it to boot up now, and keep you posted on the battery
Is there a way to understand what Android System is doing? If we could find out which processes are constantly running then we may change setting to prevent this? For ex: is it constantly trying to send feedback to Xiaomi or Google to improve user experience etc? I think I enabled those while I set up the phone.
Also battery goes down 1% every hour during the night while the phone is idle. I think it's too much. I really like the phone but I am very close to sending it back.

if you re from stock to stock, normally no wipe..if from beta to stock or reverse, then wipe
I've charged the phone up to 100% and since then let it watch YouTube, Netflix and VLC. Phone is now at 70% with 2h 50min SoT. Screen was mostly between 10-50% brightness. Seems promising, I'll post tomorrow about the idle drain and other stats
Update:
So there was still some idle drain but I left my bluetooth connected tot my headphones alle night. Overall the battery performance is way better than before. I also did disable traceur and optimise apps with dexopt-job FYI.

7h Sot, android system is still pulling a lot but this is way better than before. I'll use the xiaomi debloater next and see if we can squeeze more out of it.

So what about your experience after a few days of usage. And what did you miss compared to the 12.5 update? I'm considering downgrade because of the bad sot right now.

It is a bit better, not always 7h SoT but 5,5 at least. But I had some problems after I used Xiaomi ADB debloat tool, I removed too much and it was creating wakelocks. I dirty flashed the rom again so I had everything xiaomi back. So I still need to test more .
In terms of missing out:
When you swipe down for messages or quick tiles, you cannot move between those two. You have to go up again and then down on the other side. A bit annoying.
Sometimes when you get new messages, an old message is show in the floating preview.
I don't see any concerning wakelocks now so I'll report the nightly idle drain and SoT tomorrow again.

Strange this is...
Today I tested out the connection.
Right now I am on 4,5 hrs sot and still have 43% battery left. This is on 12.5.5.
Only things that's different then the last days is that I'm on wifi and I have used my cellular data only for half an hour.
When I look to my battery stats I see that it's steady the whole day, EXCEPT for the half an hour I went from home. Then you see abnormal usage of Android-system resources.
So, this could be something....
Yes, something wrong with the radio/modem. Are you in 5g area or lte?
