Mi9 vs mate 20 pro - Huawei Mate 20 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi guys. I have mi9 64gb and it's very good phone in all categories but the 64gb fills too fast..
I'm thinking to switch to mate 20 pro (I had mate 10 pro for 6 months)
Is it worth?
What u recommend me to do?
Thx.
The power of the Mi 9 be with you

i had a mi9 too and compared with my mate 20 pro - no chance.
accu was down in less a day and the camera is overhyped - maybe with a good google camera port its possible to improve the quality but compared with the mate 20 - no chance
concerning the accu, i think i had a bad device, without sim card and without any connection, just in standby the phone lost 20% battery in 2 hours.
i selled the device because i can'f find the issue AND i'm a xiaomi fanboy.
sorry but i'm done with the mi9, the mi8 from my girlfriend is a super phone and just for my feelings - the camera of the mi8 is better as the mi9 (due to optical image stabilization)
since the mi9 was tested in dxomark and i had the chance to compare these two device i know dxomark is very very subjective.

I like Xiaomi phones and prefer MIUI to EMUI but in terms of hardware and camera quality Xiaomi doesn't have anything comparable to M20P yet.

If you are in rooting and stuff you will be disappointed with the mate 20 pro, bootloader unlock code costs money ranging from $20 to $50 may be more and that's only if the servers are up and running, like atm the service is dead.

If you're into that kind of thing it doesn't really make sense to buy Xiaomi or Huawei phones since neither company is developer friendly and there doesn't tend to be much development for either company's phones--and whatever development there is for Xiaomi phones tends to be for their Redmi devices since those sell in the largest numbers.
The XDA development threads for both the M20P and MI 9 are pretty empty.

Hardware mate 20 pro... Software mi9
So if u want a phone with a better camera, speakers, display, battery life, network strength etc then get a mate 20, it's even better than p30 pro (honestly this phone is wack and just a marketing and dishonest reviewers hype).
If u are one of the ones (like me) who just appreciate the software experience, animations, better themes then get anything else including mi9 ... Right now the Samsung oneUI is the best skin out there but miui is awesome as well

10 pro vs OnePlus 6T

I need to buy a phone soon. Wife cracked her screen and I will be giving her my mate 9 that I've been pretty happy with.
So I'm looking to buy either a mate 10 pro which is $470 on Amazon or the new OP6T. I've tried both of them out and the 6T is looking very sexy and modern but I reckon that feeling will wear off in a few days. I feel like the 10 pro may have better battery and camera.
Which bring me to my criteria. I need dual sim, good battery and camera and I don't root etc and don't have a problem with Emui.
Thoughts?
Mate 10 Pro have a better camera and better battery.
OP6T looks very good ..
In my opinion (I rooting all my phones).. I don't buy Huawei phone because has removed the community due to blocking access to the bootloader
OP 6T if you don't mind the battery. There's the Google Camera port for the OP 6T plus it supports 4K EIS for video recording. Also the 845 is better than the kirin 970
Well the 6T has an iffy fingerprint reader, the camera sucks (and it's not just the software) and just installing a port of the Google camera doesn't fix that. As far as the CPU goes, that's kind of subjective, the Kirin 970 is a very capable processor. The Kirin 970 has their advanced modem and will give you very good LTE speeds (I'm getting between 45 to 90mbps versus 18 to 24mbps with my mate 9) For a dual SIM phone I would really go with the mate 10 pro BLA-L29 international model, just remember that if you're in the US it won't have any warranty
I like the normal mate 10 over the mate 10 pro. Has headphone jack and front finger print sensor that acts as the 3 buttons too
Granted I don't have a pro version to compare against except on paper specs...
Appreciate the answers. The more I want to get the OP6T the more the 10 pro is looking better. Did the 10 pro dual sim version get the P20 pro night mode? If it did is it as good?
stay away from huawei after closed unlock bootloader service, and also there's no supporting for it,, and if you insist on mate 10 pro stay with Chinese version they have all support for OTA update.
OnePlus 6T is better with SD845 you'll have a lot of supporting from Developers, rom's, kernels, tweaks,, a lots of things.
i bought mate 10, 128G and 6Gb ram and i hate it after fkng huawei closed unlock service.

Why do you assume everyone cares if the bootloader is locked?
IMO the mate 10 pro has better battery life, better camera, and is waterproof (plus I actually like EMUI and its features)
I have the mate 10 pro, battery is very good, but the most you get with pro mode and playing around with many settings... It's not the easy quick perfect picture camera. It has received many updates and it's camera is very capable (night mode of course is not as good as p20pro, it's got different sensors)
The op6t camera is very good. Some people here said it's trash but they are talking Bs. Just take a look for yourself and Google samples from op6 or 6t users. It's a great camera.
But I would go with the op6t any day. The kirin 970 is good on paper and benchmarks but it overheats very fast, I cannot play pubg on lowest settings after 10min it thermothrottles and fps drop. The op6t just has the newer gen CPU which will be important going forward if you are going to keep the phone for 3+ years.
The op6t battery is very similar in size I don't think the difference should be too big to be a deciding factor. Both have fast face unlock though the fingerprint reader ist different. Decide what you like better.
All in all I think op6t is the more up to date phone which will also receive more updates and has better hardware for the upcoming 3years of use. The m10pro is more like the old, strong buddy that can still keep up. But the question is for how long.
I've been using the mate 10 Pro for nearly a year. Mine is running June security update and no software update for 5 months.
I'm selling my mate 10 Pro and buying the OnePlus 6t this week.
I've had enough of Huawei lack of support and updates.
I wouldn't buy Huawei again.
I've been using a regular mate 10 for a year and mine stays up to date. I don't use anything special, the updates just come over the air. It seems some people don't get updates but both my mate 9 and 10 keep getting updates.
What update you are looking for? Mate 10 Pro has all security patches. If you are talking about Android 8.1 it is not that major update and maybe that is why only China models received it. The next Major Android 9 will soon be available and that's what matters.
UK version C782 are still on June security patch and 132. We are 6 months behind with bug fixing updates improvements and most important security! We have been left behind in the UK and that is why we are all jumping ship
10 pro. I already had oneplus devices, and didn't like them as much as I did with the Huawei ones. Imo, the build quality is far better. It's on par with Apple. The camera is fantastic. The battery is a major goal. At first, I was having problems to get use with EMUI, in the end I passed to like it. It's not as good as oxygen os, but it's have been improving. So, I'll keep my 10 pro for more 6 months or a year.

Hu, something's wrong with your device. I play PUBG on higher setting everyday with coworkers at lunch, and I can play at least 30 minutes (since pause are not longer than that) consuming only 13% battery (not from 100%) and getting a 30-35°C that is not so hot, comparing to iPhone 8S that drain twice as much and can be barely kept in hand for the same lenght of time. Maybe some phone are better, but well, mate 10 pro is really good a handling games. My nintendo switch got hotter than that...
That said, I do not like the overhsarpening/oil-ing effect of the camera, so, even mid-tier camera are better for me, I would not go for the mate 10 for the camera.

I'm not, albeit I've rebranded to c432. I had an OP3 and came to Huawei primarily for the battery life, and here the Mate 10 pro still has nearly 10% bigger battery.

as you like,, and you already like it!! and it's just opinion :good: no one force you to not buying it,, for me i like that things like unlocked bootloader and root and play in system and change rom's etc,, and i wish to replace my mate 10 with OnePlust 6t,, or other brand.
regards
Anything but Huawei. With a custom ROM things are okay, but relying on Huawei to update? Yes, they currently still treat this device as a flagship. But my other phone, a P10 Plus already lagging behind. Luckily I do have the bootloader unlocked on that device, so that's a relief.
If I had to do a comparison, Huawei updates are like Samsung. Be glad if you ever get them. Is OnePlus that great? Nope. Fingerprint sucks, camera sucks, battery sucks, warranty is the worst out of any manufacturer.
What to buy? Great question!
Been struggling with the same problem. There is just no choice on the market without compromise. Huawei had it all with the large battery, best of the best inside, but they decided to flip off customers and disallow the bootloader unlock.
Rip. I would probably buy a OnePlus 5T, Poco F1 (has no NFC and some screens have touch issues).

Mate 20/pro or S10E

Huawei will release the mate 20 series soon in my country (idk what took them so long) should I get the pro model and assume they no longer have screen issues with the new batch or just get the regular mate 20 to be safe? I'm also considering the S10e but I'm so confused.
If camera and battery charging speed is important for you go for mate
Speakers screen and if you play games go for samy snapdragon version
Simple answer Mate 20 Pro
Not even a fair comparison
I'm obviously biased as I own the Mate 20 pro, but that's not even a fair comparison.
If you said S10+ I would have understood, but not the E.
hardware huawei, software samsung
Thanks all, my biggest worry is the screen of mate 20 pro, now that I know many suffered issues I'm a bit paranoid apart from that I would definitely get the pro model, guess I'll have a talk with Huawei when they release it here and make sure if everything is okay.
Samsung is a bit overpriced where I live S10E and mate 20 pro have same pricing and that's about my budget. Whichever phone I get I'll keep it for 3 years at least so I don't want to rush into it.
For now I think the regular mate 20 is the safest option and certainly the cheapest but I see no one talking about it.
Also I'm not into edge screens that's why I considered the S10E, I can get S10/S10+ but only through contract. And I'll have to spend more on good screen protector and cases, that's why I'm not considering getting either.

If you were to change...

Hi folks I just shattered the screen of my Redmi Note 3 SD version (RN3). I had this phone since early 2016 and though it's still working and I could prolly do a service job on it for $50 and extend its life to a year or so I feel sticking to this phone any further wouldn't be to my advantage.
So I'm in the market for a new phone and I would really love to hear your precious advise so I may get the best available option for my hard earned bucks.
My budget is around $350. I'm not a brand fan boi, I don't mind going for unknown brands if the build quality is there. B/C with a good build quality you can get the best out of your phone under XDA. So when I go for a smartphone the features I pay attention to are:
1-If the phone can handle recent games. If a phone can handle recent games odds are high that it will perform well in everyday life.
2-It must have a great community under XDA so that if the manufacturers aren't arsed to push updates, you can still get the best out of your phone by for e.g flashing a custom rom or the Google cam or flash the latest security patch and so on.
3-The camera specs should be good (not expecting pixel3 stuffs or p30 results), but should be able to take good shots when I go on road trips.
Having said that, phones that have caught my eye so far are the Huawei Y9(2019 version) and the Xiaomi Poco Phone F1. So what do you lads think!
The Huawei Y9 is out as per your stated requirements as they don't even allow bootloader unlocking. There might be unofficial methods. Poco F1 looks to be the best choice but I don't know if the initial issues like backlight bleeding, touch latency etc have been fixed. Redmi Note 7 Pro is another decent option but the price difference between its 6GB model and Poco F1 base variant is too little. Realme has opened up BL unlocking but the pace of development doesn't seem very encouraging. Otherwise the Realme 3 Pro appears to pack solid hardware. Dunno when the Poco F2 will be launched.

Thanks for input. I though pretty much the same Poco F1 would be the best option!

Wait for Mi A3 . not sure its launching date. it is android one device. Bootloader unlocking is very easy for android one phone.
Updates will given by google and not xiaomi. Also u will get 3 android updates. Spec will be same like rn7 pro.
Or buy rn7 pro. It has QC 4.0 charging and 4000mah battery.
From Kenzo, I used Tissot which is Mi A1 and now lavender which is Redmi Note 7.
Redmi Note 7 aka lavender as of now has very minimal development going on based on xda threads available. But the good thing is that it supports treble so gsi will provide you with a lot of custom rom and me myself is using a GSI now. Violet aka Note 7 Pro on the other hand has a better development than lavender. It has great camera too considering you are using gcam to full utilize the camera and also lavender's camera is Greta as well but not as good as violet. Lavender has Snapdragon 660 and violet has Snapdragon 675.

Can anyone recommend a better phone for €240?

It's nearly Christmas and I'm looking for a gift for my mum. For the past 4 years she's been using a Samsung Galaxy s3 and has been reluctant to upgrade, though at this point it's become so temperamental that Santa's gonna put his foot down and get her a new phone
I love my pocophone, she loves the photos I take with it and I've got a chunk of cash burning a hole in my pocket. I've seen the 128 gb version new for €240 which seems a no brainer
MIUI is no harder to use than the antiquated junk on her s3 and she'll love the 2 day battery life
My question to you good people is:
I haven't been watching the other phones on the market. Is there anything that competes seriously in the same price range? I'd rather not get her anything second hand as Santa still doesn't recycle, surprisingly enough
Thanks for any suggestions
I was hoping for the note 10 / cc9 pro but I'd say other than the camera it is worse and costs 450€, like wtf. The only thing which the poco is lacking in my opinion is nfc. If she is not going to use it she'll be perfectly fine with the phone. Ah and ghost touches. Lets hope that there are no fts panels around anymore or whatever the reason for that is.
I would say the Poco F1 might be overkill. Go checkout the Redmi Note 7 or Redmi Note 8 plenty fast and also very good camera. Might be a bit cheaper and will work just as good.

I miss NFC too, but mum wouldn't know what to do with it! Agreed about the note 10. Wondered about getting her a Redmi Note 8, but I gather the camera lets it down

Perhaps you're right - any opinions of the camera?
I guess the battery life would be huge too, given the processor
The Moto One Action And One Vision are pretty good fones...

If she has an S3 now she will be over the moon with the Redmi Note 7 or 8 camera, my colleague was really happy with the pictures. A serious advantage over the S3 in darker wintertime etc. Also the speed of the camera is a lot faster. You can also install Gcam on them without rooting or modding them which is also great if you want to get her into photography.
When it comes down to battery life, yup, both phones are really amazing.
I also own a Redmi Note 5 pro and to be honest and fair, the processor in the Poco F1 is overkill for what I do. The Redmi Note 5 already handles everything more than fast enough without any waiting. Click and it's there, no frustration or lag. The 7 and 8 even have faster cpu's so no worries on that front.
Just some advice if you buy for your mother (my mother has a Redmi Note 5 pro also, guess how that happened ). What I did was order a glass screen protector and some cases. I guess for 20 euro on Aliexpress you are more than settled. Giving her the phone is really nice but giving it completely protected and usable is a must and she will really like that.
Redmi Note 8 pro or Mi 9 lite
I followed the above recommendations and bought a Redmi note 8
It arrived this week
It's great! She's gonna love it!
(Unfortunately I got it from an AliExpress seller meaning I was hit for another chunk of vat - should have bought it from eglobalcentral where I got my f1; they ship from within the eu)
Thanks for the advice peeps!
Interesting to note the feel of it - felt at least as well put together as my pocophone. Obviously a tiny bit of lag noticeable here and there, but it was minimal - though I saved it the burden of trying PUBG on it!
fones €240
Realme note 5 pro
Nokia 6.x
Mi8
xiaomi A3 (but ram is only 4gb , however xiaomi Cc9e chinese version has 6gb, camera result is not so good)
y7 (amazing camera)
and ofcourse
Galaxy M30 ! (or if you can go €300) (m30s 6/128 variant is something you should seriously check out)
Go with Redmi Note 8 Pro
As i strongly believe she doesn't require anything like Snapdragon 845

Any worthy upgrades to the Mate 20 pro?

Hi!
I have had the my Mate 20 pro for almost a year now and I'm mostly happy with it.
I have a swap deal on the phone which in short works like this; I pay a monthly fee for the phone and after one year I can send in my phone and get a new one of my choice, or I can continue paying for two years and the phone is completely paid off. It also includes a screen insurance so the deal is quite good.
But I feel to get the most out of this deal, I have to keep swapping every year.
The thing is, there isn't many phones to choose from in my opininon. They have Iphone which is not a question, Sony, Huawei P30 pro and the Samsung 10 series.
I was thinking of the Samsung Note 10 or 10+, but I'm afraid if the battery will be worse then the Mate. I love the battery I get on my Mate
The phone I really want is Oneplus 7t pro, but they don't have that one of course..
So, is it worth going for an upgrade to any of the phones they sell, or should I just stick with my Mate?
I would like to add that upgrading to the P30 pro would probably be the best choice, but I'm done with Huawei for now. The Mate is a really good phone, but the unlock code being so hard to get is a big no no from me. Even though I got my code for free
Edit: adding a link so you can see the options https://nettbutikk.telenor.no/
The only one I'd look at is the Note 10 plus.
Note 10+ won't give anything close to the Mate 20 Pro for battery life. You only have the P30 Pro as an option at this stage. You can wait a little and sse the fate of the Mate 30 pro
Yeah, that's what I though.. Thanks anyways??
