unable to flash Xperia XZ1 due to wrong bundle - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone ,
lets start by saying, i accidentally got over my head and ****ed up big time. since my warranty is over, i am eager to try a custom rom, which is resurrection Remix and since im already at android Pie, i thought i'd follow set of instructions on https://www.getdroidtips.com/resurrection-remix-sony-xperia-xz1/#Steps_to_Install_Resurrection_Remix_on_Sony_Xperia_XZ1 i have managed to unlock the boot loader (that was easy) but then when i tried to flash the rom downloaded from this site https://get.resurrectionremix.com/?dir=gsi, which i used this rom in particular [system-190406-arm64-aonly-vanilla-nosu.img] the system just hanged on sony for a while... i got worried so i downloaded another one from the site which is this [ system-190406-arm64-ab-vanilla-nosu.img] then it suddenly started the TWRP loop. Because i'm unable to install the Gapps, i used this method to install them : https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/fix-error-70-install-gapps-t3311779 and it does work. but it ended in a loop anyways
i decided maybe my phone isn't destined for custom, so i decide to flash the stock rom instead. i got the stock rom from XperiFirm, my model is G8342, so i downloaded that bundle as per my own cellular company.
here comes the problem: my model isn't supported in the sony mobile flasher by Androxyde... so i tried my luck and go a head with XZ premium and got this: 24/019/2019 09:19:21 - ERROR - The bundle does not match the connected device.
i searched far and wide buy my brand seems to be the lesser popular ones. so please, i need help. i give you my thanks in advance.

It is NOT THAT EASY as in the writeup. As you have experienced...
The problems you have stem from DM-Verity in the stock SONY ROMs.
Flash your DLed Stock ROM with Newflasher.
Once your blood pressure settles and you feel adventurous again adapt the writeup for Mokee in this forum.
Resurrection (if it/GSI works with touch, compass, VoLTE, ...) is a good choice.

[Q] How do I remove Cyanogenmod 11.0 & install this custom ROM

Hi there,
I'm sorry if this has been covered before in another thread but after searching with limited success I have been unable to find a detailed answer, perhaps I'm just a little bit dim & have missed something however.
QUESTION:
After installing CyanogenMod 11.0 [KitKat][4.4.2] by "Gava97" I have found that it is simply not for me. I would very much like to install Destro316's "Proformance" ROM [4.0.4] http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...m-4-0-4-proformance-rom-long-battery-t2547481 as it seems much more stable having been based on a stock Sony ROM.
Do I just flash the new ROM over the previous one? Do I return to a stock setup & redo the rooting process? If so, how?
Being extremely new at this android thing, I'm a little stumped as to how to proceed. All instructions seem too vague for me to confidently follow without bricking something. As I said, it may just be that I'm a missing something.
Phone was originally running [2.3.7] when I bought it, though I soon flashed to stock Sony ICS [4.0.4] Firmware version 6.1.1.B.1.100.
I unlocked my bootloader, rooted & installed Clockwordmod Recovery via this tutorial: www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=V232-3tZddE
I would be very grateful if anyone could fill me in with a step-by-step guide on removing all traces of CyanogenMod & installing this new ROM. Any suggestions for different ROM's are welcome as well, of course.
-----
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
Root: Yes
Clockworkmod Recovery: Yes
Kernel version: Transcendence v 1.1.6
Flashtool Version: 0.9.14.0
PC: Windows 7
-----
I really am sorry if I missed something in my search, I'm very new at this.
I appreciate anyone taking the time to read this & help me out.
Cheers,
Miles

Just follow the instructions on the ROM threat, this is erasing your CM 11, then install your ROM through CWM.
Good luck!
U could Just follow the instructions that included at the ROM u want, that will eras your CM 11, then install the ROM U want through CWM.
Clean Install is required
Woops
Hi everyone!
Sorry for the late update.
So I attempted to follow the instructions outlined in the new rom I was attempting to install and it did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Phone continued to boot into Cyanogenmod 11 kitkat as if nothing had happened.
Now obviously I messed something up, but I needed a properly functioning phone for work asap so I bought an Xperia Z1 Compact just to be done with it. Over the hassle.
However it's been bothering me that I still have a basically pristine Xperia U minus it's software tantrum.
So, how do I go about restoring this phone to the factory Gingerbread and removing Cyanogenmod?
Baby steps please.

I'm by no means an expert.
I follow the guidelines here to flash my Xperia Sola from ICS to a Kitkat rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/issues/getting-startedrooting-bootloader-t2100529
I'm not entirely sure but downgrading should be similar? Fastboot (via flashtool) and flash boot.img. Then in recovery mode, flash the stock Gingerbread rom?

[Q] Newbie asking for some guidance

Hi all, I am about to become the proud owner of a SXZ Ultra, and I was hoping someone might be kind enough to provide me with some links to the the most important info to help learn my way around this device. I have experience with Android but have no idea what to expect from the Sony UI nor the rooting procedure etc., so I would be grateful for some pointers to help minimize the learning curve and get the most out of the device as soon as possible. A quick search on the subject of rooting left me somewhat bemused...I am used to the SGA (Samsung Galaxy Ace), which was a totally different type of device with an entirely different procedure for flashing ROMs and rooting.
I have a specific question aside from that - I see that there is an IM750 MHL to HDMI adaptor available from Sony, but I would like to know if this is really necessary - has anyone had success with Miracast or Wifi Direct/DLNA connection with a smart TV so as to be able to send what I want to watch on the TV from the SXZU? I would prefer this to having to connect via HDMI because I have found that mini/micro HDMI connectors on tablets seem to be rather fragile to say the least, and it would also make far more sense for presentations. Thanks for your help.
MHL works well. Some people seem to have no issues with mirrorcast etc but others do...
For rooting read LordManhattan's guide and my downgrade guide both at the top of the general section.
The steps are more or less;
downgrade
Root
Backup TA
Unlock bootloader
Flash rom...
For stock sony firmware you can get the updates via PC companion [PCC] or use flashtool and flash FTF's

Thank you. The thing is that if possible I would like to avoid having to unlock the bootloader, but I need Root in order to use Titanium Backup and be able to flash an alternative recovery so I can use Online recovery tools. Forgive my ignorance, but is this possible? Ideally I would like to upgrade to KitKat then obtain Root and flash the TWRP/CWM twin recovery without unlocking the bootloader - it seems to me that there are several advantages to using the stock ROMs, particularly being able to recieve Sony upgrades, at least until they stop supporting the device.

Yes you can get away with not unlocking the BL, if you go that route you don't need to back up the TA either. You will still need to downgrade yo route though. There are several ROMs based on sony firmware, and to be honest will probably be better that pure stock. Some of the upgrades have worked on rooted phones others haven't

Thank you. Are any of those custom ROMs available with the latest Kit Kat release? I see that the SXZU is listed by Sony to receive this update, which is primarily why I didn't want to flash a custom ROM right away = and I would like to try Sony's stock configuration first. I have tried CM10, PAC ROM and others in my SGA and frankly I was underwhelmed for the most part, although with such a totally different device I might be pleasantly surprised...
Which ROM would you personally ally recommend?

Yes Sony has a 4.4.2 firmware out for the whole range. There is a rooted rom based on this that is very close to pure stock Sony I believe, and then there is Monix's ROM based on Sony's 4.4.2 release that gets good reviews - it is quite customised.
On the custom ROM front there are:
SlimKat - this is my preferred ROM but I'm having trouble building it for this device consistently
Carbon - this is my daily at the moment, I'm doing the unofficial builds of this for now
LiquidSmooth - this seems to get good reviews but doesn't look like it's been updated in about a month
PAC - I was using this for some time and was good
PA - as above
CM11 - Has it's fans and most of the other ROMs use at least some parts of it and it's device tree
AOSP - Don't know what that is up to, not used it
AOKP - as above
PAC - I was using this for some time and was good
PA - as above
Then there is the GPe port that many seen to love

[Q] The Most Stable Custom ROM for L9 P765

Dear friends,
It looks like we lost few great dev so far, and face a lot of abandoned rom. Which custom ROM is most stable for daily use, and no need to update baseband (because i found it so hard to update). Thanks friends..

Hello.
I'm using currently Rammars Paranoid 4.4.4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l9/development/rom-paranoidandroid-4-6-t2933958 , been using it for daily use(mostly twitter, whatsapp and instagram), no problem with that, pretty smooth fast, i suggest using Nova launcher, and if you like eye candy, get the Androidl theme from playstore, as far as you keep away from gaming, and really heavy apps, it is stable. No kernel panics, no unexpected shutdowns/reboots. All great. But the onlydownside, surprinsgly the best battery life i stumbled upon was for rammars lollipop, 5.3.2 the most stable to be exact.
Still, i`m right now about to restore CWM backup of a nandroid (v20h) to be back on stock, becaue, honestly, there won't be a more stable ROM than stock.
If you still have a stock rom installed, updating rom and baseband won't be difficult, if OTA or the LG Flash Tool won't give you anything newer than v20h(like in Europe) you need the appropiate KDZ file.
With a custom rom, seemingly the LG drivers and tools no longer recognize the phone, and getting back to stock or updating bb gets a bit complicated. I wrote down my sad story in Artas' thread, an finally I even succeeded, it's all there.

Sorry for offtopic, but getting back to stock is pretty easy if u use NANDROID, but if you want a full wiple, like the way you bought it, no CWM no nothing, KDZ flashing does the trick.
I'm sorry, didn't notice the baseband thing, on what baseband are you at?
hi i'm used 4.4.4. artas and think it's the better i have a p768

No name android phones and CM

Hey guys,
Got on hands noname Chinese android phone with lollipop on board (even though it says 6.0.1 in settings) and MTK6580 quad processor, 3.10.72 kernel
can I somehow put cyanogen rom from another phone?
Yes, find another phone using that chip: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_devices_using_Mediatek_SoCs
Then go here: http://www.needrom.com and find THAT phone(s) and see if there is a custom rom for THAT phone also using the same kernal 3.10/3.12 etc
Download that rom and port it yourself using the boot.img from YOUR phone using this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938
And get it at least booting on your phone, out of loads I've done on MTK phones, 95% boot up first time, 50% of those have no issues, the other 50% have issues with cameras/wifi/video/phone that can be fixed literally with trial and error of swapping files from your stock rom to the new rom, can take hours/days of trial and error or could take minutes.
Have fun
EDIT: try to use a custom rom from a brand you have at least kinda heard of, doogee, walton, infinix...etc to make it more likely to work well.

Thank you for your response!
After few hours of research I have found many ROMs that are applicable for my phone. The thing is, I want it to be and look as close to stock android as possible, and as close to most recent version as well.
But still I have few questions:
1)Am I right by saying that kernel 3.10.72 is suitable only for android 5.x?
2)Is it possible to put android 6.x or 7.x?
3)If it is do I need to ugrade kernel?
4)Is it possible to upgrade kernel?
I really hope it's not too much to ask from you.

Your phone is basically the same as mine, and sadly the kernal has to be the same for every custom ROM, there are no kernel sources so no custom kernels, which means we are both stuck with lollipop
The infinix hot 2 for example, is the same MTK chip and was released with lollipop and kernel 3.10 but then infinix released a stock marshmallow upgrade, with a stock 3.12 kernel so they could get a custom 6.0 rom which im 99% sure we will never get.
If you go here: http://www.needrom.com/author/robneymcplum/ this is me on there, where I have ported the best 5.1.1 roms with our kernel. You will need to port to your phone, which is literally just swapping about 10 files from your stock rom so make a backup of your stock rom or find stock firmware, and get the files from there and use the guide i already posted.
Hope this helps. And if you have never done it, its way, WAY easier than you think it might be

Which X722 custom ROM you think is better in terms of overall speed and performance.

Which custom rom would you guys recommend on the X722 if choosing between
-LINEAGE 14.1
-PARANOID ANDROID 7.3
-GENESYS 26S
-FULL AROMA 20S
I am using stock EMUI now 26S and it's driving me crazy with play store keeps errorring and restarting and the stupid browser. Also i think it uses a lot of RAM.
Let me know what you think
If you're using stock 26s on the x722, are you sure you'll be able to flash another ROM without issue? Doesn't the stock 26s ROM lock the bootloader down, causing a brick the moment you try to flash any file from stock recovery (TWRP or ROM)? Or are you running the developer version of 26s? I heard the developer version doesn't lock the bootloader down but I'm not 100% sure. All I do know is that quite a few people here have tried flashing stuff over 26s, which has resulted in near-permanent bricks (see the brick thread in this sub-forum). Please correct me if I'm wrong
As for the Play Store errors, not sure why you're getting those. Did you install the Play Store after installing the ROM?

My stock version is EUI 5.9.026S , I really hope this ROM could be changed since it's not working as flawlessly as expected..
For some reason the phone just doesn't work like a 820 chip should work. Neither the stock rom, modified stock. The custom roms based on lineage, paranoid rom are better, but still not as good as the 820 chip phones I tested with the same roms. I don't know if it is software or hardware. I am thinking slow storage...
Rom is EUI, not EMUI.
There is no 026 dev rom
026 stock can be downgraded to 001D rom through stock recovery and then you can flash all these roms.
Anyway, this is a poll topic and you can find a better place to discuss basis stuff
I am running stock EUI 5.8.20S everything is ok, battery is fine., no notifications show though
I tried stock rom Genesys 5.9.26S and Aicp Nougat but came back to 5.8.20S for now.
Notifications can be set - google for EUI notifications problem

Hey Dakok, been following you since the coolpad f1 days on modaco. Thinking about getting this phone. Does the Google HDR+ camera mod work on the elite model?
Also, do you have any personal recommendations on a reliable rom without bugs?
Yes it does. I think that there is a modified one that works with EUI and another one for custom 7.1 roms.
I am on stock 026s EUI yet, so I can't test any but there are many reports that it works fine.
Genesys 26s by Steve Mars is the most reliable rom IMHO.
Paranoid and AICP have minor bugs, otherwise very usable.

You mean that you cannot do it because of 026s EUI? or you just didn't try to downgrade yourself yet?
I was checking for downgrading from stock 0.26 s but it's impossible finding information on the web
I found this portugese video on youtube but i dont know exactly what he is doing there, also the links people refer to from the leeco forum have been taken down..
I cached the links and i find this (click)
But still very hard to understand what they do, could someone make it more explainable how to change with X722 from
EUI version 5.9.026S (Stable) (bought like this) -> version 20s (001D)-> to finally put on Paranoid android 7.3.1 on it? Is it even possible? I really don't want to brick my phone here..
Or should I open a new topic since the other legit ones are closed..
Thanks for everybody putting effort in trying this phone to be customized!
Batyan, a guy from russian 4PDA forum got the archive with two roms.
The first one is a developer EUI rom identified as WIXCNFN5800106140D or 01D (short).
It flashes through phone stock recovery.
The other is Banggood vendor EUI rom 020s, cleaned from China stuff.
This one flashes through fastboot.
01D rom is great since it is the only way to move from stock 026s EUI since it has locked bootloader and you can't do anything to replace recovery, make root or flash another rom.
So. Put that 01D (update.zip) in your phone and flash it through stock recovery (key combination or through phone settings or manager, not sure)
Or you can start it from EUI file manager (not sure).
Now you have 01D rom, you have unlocked bootloader and you can flash any other custom rom.
My advice is to flash Genesys 026s first since it is EUI 026s and it may be good to have latest
partitions flashed. Later you can try paranoid, aicp...
Don't flash lineage 15 (oreo) since it may make some problems regarding partitions.
Use CrisBal TWRP since it seems to be the most compatible.

The only way to "hard" brick it is to flash stock 026s through twrp.
Paranoid but a little bit hard to do it for noobs, probably.
Poll Is corrupt
If paranoid ROM is the best... Then I'm a lepracon with lepra....
Its slow as hell, typing this takes ages... When I press a letter 7 seconds late it response... When some one called me I need to press 1100000 times before this ROM gives a reaction...
Also the builder doesn't respond to my mail. So, its what it is. Just a crappy ROM.
Merry Xmas
