Hello everyone,
This is just a quick question, that I searched but couldn't find a reasonable answer too.
I have an older LG Optimus One P500 android phone, that I would like to do some customization's too.
I noticed there are some ports already available for this phone, but not any that I actually liked.
Is it possible for me or anyone to port any phone they choose to there local phone?
For instance, wouldn't I be able to grab let's say a Galaxy S3 rom and port it to work with my LG P500?
How exactly does porting work, and can someone link me to a tutorial on how to at least edit or customize a already working rom?

It's been long time since some of the senior developers been working on root method for G5 other variants aside from H830 and H850EU. And then some guys pissed of the devs, apperently the development died with that. I got H850 South African, so far no luck of root. I believe there are lot of members like me waiting for root for their other variants. I am not a developer, but I wish I had that kind of background I just wanna know if there is any reputed developer still working on it. Kinda trying to decide if I should get rid of my G5.

I dont think anyone is working also I dont belive we will have a way to unlock bootloader too. People use EU G5, so no problem for them. Look at Rom thread, there are many custom roms for these phones.

Its too disappointing. I guess this flagship got less attention from devs (aside from the unlocked bootloader ones).

This past week, the microphone on my LG G5 RS988 stopped working. I assumed it was a software issue, but after some troubleshooting, I found that everything worked fine if I used the Cam Plus module. I've shopped around for a replacement chin module, but all I can find are ones for the more common variants. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so can any alternate variant's modules be used with the RS988?

I've found that Gcam ports are giving me far superior photos to auto mode on the stock camera app. Just wondering if anyone has messed around with various GCam ports and found one that works best? I'm currently using Arnova's latest port with HDR config set to "pixel 2017 ZSL HDR+" and model set to "pixel 2".

Does the Arnova build you're using use both rear cameras? What build are you using exactly?
I'm using GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Final_fu24-17.apk

excuse me which gcam port / version are you using at this moment (for all 3 cameras)?
i didnt buy the phone but ill have 1-2 hours to try it in the next days and i want to make some tests w gcam.

yes i saw. i just thought that you recommend to try both versions and decide.
but as this is a QA, a have other questions if you guys dont mind...
is there a cam app that has
1. extended resolutions for example 1440p/60, or 4K with stabilization? are those even possible?
2. ~480p resolution for low video size if you just need to document something?
3. boosted low light video, even if its low res/noisy - if you need to shoot in very dark and need to have at least something on the video.

I think the first link may be to the post where other versions are described. There is an attachment which is a fix and may have to be flashed. Anyway just use the APK.
