How strong is the charging port? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

My last phone was a Mi Mix 2 and the USB-C port on it became lose and would not hold a cable (i tried at least 20 different ones) So i bought a Pocophone today on Amazon. How does the charging port on this one hold up? Has anyone had any issues with it?

It seems pretty sturdy to me. If your worried I would buy one those magnetic chargers where the port bit stays in the device. I bought x2 for my kids as we all know what kids are like with ports. An absolute must I reckon

Picky charge port?

Hey, so I just upgraded from a sensation and I am having weird issues with some USB cables.
When I use the 1 USB cable that I have with my Anker 9000mah astro2 battery pack, a cable that works just fine plugged into my sisters Nexus 4 and my old sensation, it won't charge! If I pull it to the side in either direction or stick my thumbnail in between the cable and port THEN it charges; but if I stick the same cable into my HTC wall plug, it charges with no issue! WTH?
Then if I take my official HTC cable and plug it into the Anker and my phone it charges with no issue either??? It also doesn't like the shorter cable that Anker provides with its chargers, no matter what that's plugged into. And it has an issue with another shorter USB cable that I use to charge the Anker battery.
But it works with every other cable so far.
Is this common? Does anybody else find their port is picky? Not sure if I should replace it, don't see the need yet as it's only with a few cables so far.
Thanks.

This phone isn't particularly picky, however, it becomes VERY apparent when you're using a low-quality cable with this phone.
For mine, it works 100% A-OK with like 7/8 cables I've tried, however, every so often I'll find one ****ty cheap china cable that doesnt let my computer see my phone, and makes my phone get uncomfortably hot when charging.
It's more picky than my old Inspire, but mostly it's just a matter of not using ****ty cables.

Huh. Well maybe it's a good thing its picky, early warning system I guess Haha. Still weird that my phone doesn't have problem with one cable if it's plugged into the wall but does if it's plugged into my anker.
I went ahead and ordered 2 original HTC cables for $4 on Amazon to replace the cables it doesn't like, we'll see if the phone works with them like my original cable that I'm using right now. Fingers crossed.

Yep. Early on, I had a cheap Chinese retractable cable in my truck. Plugged in and in 20 minutes sitting unused the phone got blazing hot and drained from 20% battery to 5%

Yikes! Gotta love low quality cables. Haha.
Does anybody have experience with monoprice cables? Just found them yesterday and they seem dirt cheap with good reviews.

What charging cable? Every cable is trash!!

I am fed up with the garbage charging cables, literally every month I have to buy a new USB cable. I have tried many different companies and they all break after 1 month or less of use. BTW I am travelling Europe so anything here would be great. BTW I've spent about $100 in just USB cables.
P. S
I've just lost my **** because a cable I bought 3 weeks ago stopped working an hour ago. I can't warranty it because like I said I'm traveling.

Cables I use
I have two of these:
((Can't Post Links... It's $7.99 on Amazon, just search this "aLLreli® 10ft 3M Premium Gold Plated USB 3.0 Supper Speed Data Sync Charger Charging Braid Cable - Extra Long"))
One for my Note 3, and the other for my Note 12. They are braided, long, and hella durable. I would say my only complaint is that the braided cable is thick, and sometimes hard to coil up to fit in a tight bag.

I've never had issues with the original cables.. I also use the (prettymuch identical) Note 3 cables.
Just find a Mediamarkt or Saturn or Conrad and look for reinforced gold-plated USB3 cables.
Also, perhaps it's an idea to change your methods of storing the cables. Mine have been everywhere from folded in the bottom of my bag to tangled in a suitcase with tons of junk, never had one break on me.
I can't say that I actually paid any attention to charge cables. I connect my Note Pro to whatever charger is nearest to me, the original one or other USB 2 cables from mobile phones. Never had any problems.

honestlyI hate to say it but I bought exactly that cable from amazon uk . It was the worst one out of the 12 cables I bought in the past 6 months . It broke after 2 days of use Just stopped charging and fitting in the Slot. Right now I'm on my 13th cable which costs me $ 10 usb 2.0 and its lasting me about a month so I'm getting ready for it to die again

I hate to say it donkon, but I've had the opposite experience. I too have the aLLreli cable, and it has worked great for me. Other than maybe a 2M option, 10 feet IS a little long, the cable is great. It connects solidly, allows me to read in bed while having it plugged in, and send to be a good cable.

I'm starting to think my galaxy note 12.2 might be the culprit as I have never had a problem on any device. Before a cable dies I get an alert that my tablet is too hot and it will not charge . Next event is my cable stops completely working.
Sent from my SM-N910F (Note 4)
Could be, how do the contacts within the tablet's port look? Anything bent or misaligned?
Only other possibility is the charger itself.
The port looks good to my knowlegde but I've had a couple cables have pieces come out of their ports after using them a couple times. But I think that might be cable qaulity related. 1 have my original new Note 4 adapter I was contemplating to try but I am afraid that will get broken too if I use it with the tablet
Sent from my SM-N910F (Note 4)
Yeah I wouldn't try. I keep that one reserved for my Note 4 since the tip has a unique feel to it (the shape) just so I know which one is connected to the special fast charger for the Note 4.

If your in a jam you can use a standard micro USB cable to charge your note pro 12.2.

For that price, it better not break down. I have been using these two cables without issue all year.
Just for charging on my nightstand:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NUZ8BVM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Longer one for sitting on the couch using the Note when the battery needs charging:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JRX2LEE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (very well made cable)
I've used both the expensive and the cheapos to varying degrees of success. Some of the better cables don't fit well into some devices due to the protective cases. . As much as I want to use Samsung cables when the kid destroys one it hurts(I am guilty too) so I buy the cheapos off ebay by the dozen. Seldom have had an issue and they last a good while . I just trash em at first sign of getting worn.

Just a selly question what is the recharging time for the 905 device?
It's spelled 'silly' not selly.
Can't say for 905 but my 900 wifi charges in 3.5 hours from almost dead battery.
It does not appear that English is his first language (judging by his sig, and the grammar of the post). This is an International community after all.
That's why I used the smiley. I sure didn't want to offend him.

just how real are rumors about non-samsung charging adapters and cables?

Hey guys,
Can you tell me just how true are rumors that if you use non-origigi adapter for charging that it will mess up your battery or something worse?
Since i use all kind of different cables/adapters and never had the problem, but now i have s7 and i dont wanna mess it up..?
Thx
well before the s7 i had the s6 and i have to be honest it did some weird stuff, battery drained super fast over night ( arround 30%) capacitive buttons showed strange behavior ( pressing the button by itself) i disabled them and used Pie control for a while. This was with all kind of cable's/chargers.
Started using original charger and cable and the battery drain turned back to normal after a while and when i turned the capacitive buttons on again and stay worked again!
I'm not 100% sure this is because of the charger or cable but i guess they do make a difference
(sorry for my probaly not grammatically correct english ^^)
Edit: i also think other quality chargers are ok
I would imagine as long as they are quality chargers/cables you'll be fine, im using a blackberry charger along with samsung one and everything works fine.
You can usually tell is the usb cable is cheap when it can't fast charge the phone, they're also pretty thin.
Just don't use the cheap Chinese **** 5 pack for $2 from eBay and you should be fine.

Charged my S5 with my PC for almost 2 years
Charged my S7 with my MiniPC many times
Obviously cheap crappy dangerous chargers will not be good, but these rumours came from people who couldn't accept that Samsung messed up, didn't want to blame the phones/batteries, so blamed the owners instead
You have more chance of the charger failing than the battery if the charger is faulty/cheap, unless of course it is pushing too much juice into the phone, but I would hazard a guess the charging circuit would fail before it managed to set a battery on fire
Just find a cheap brand that's quality and stick with it. Anker Aukey CableMatters Mediabridge all seem good though the usb connector alwasy seems to get looser and looser. I've almost completely moved over to Qi because of it.
Get a cable and charger from a decent brand name company, and make sure that it's properly rated to the phone model you have. Any time you're using an overpowered or underpowered charging source it can have a negative effect on the battery.
I have a big 4 port Aukey charger that has Ai and QC2.0 ports on it. It is great! I use the cable that came with That charger and I travel with the samsung charger and cable.
Thx for replies.. i ordered a pack of 5 cables from Anker and they are great.

Exactly. Get a quality 2A charger and a decent 20 or 22awg USB cable and you're good.
Buy that 49 cent 1 micrometer thick cable off eBay and you'll be hatin life.
While we're on the subject, there's apps that let you measure incoming charge current. I measured every cable I had in the house, one right after the other using the same power brick. Two of them wouldn't allow more than ~330mA charge current. Most others were 1.1A. Those two went right in the garbage.
In japan s7 do not come with charger so you can use any cable or charger

Redmi note 4 causing chargers to explode

Hi guys, I'm just wondering did anyone else had this problem. My Redmi note 4MTK already killed 3 chargers in a month (NOTE: The phone it self is only a month old. Bought at 3rd of April) And its not bad chargers or anything I used 2x LG G2,3,4 1.8a - 5v chargers and one 1a-5v charger.
I got scared from this fact of it killing chargers at this rate. So i gave it to the service center to get fixed.
But would be nice to know if anyone else having / had this problem and might know how to fix it!

Sounds like a faulty unit that should be replaced or fixed by official means before it does some real damage. I mainly use mine will the charger it comes with, which is always recommended. I have used it with other different chargers but not had any issues.
Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using Tapatalk
The redmi note 4 manual states that it uses a 5V 2 Amp charger, also stated on the page http://www.mi.com/in/note4/specs/. If the charger cant give the current needed, it can burn the internal tracks of the charger, burn the internal components of the charger, or in case it can hold then it would drop the output voltage, so there are several cases of why a 1 amp charger can get damaged.

Well i'm pretty sure that phone has a module that recognize the output of the charger and sets the voltage as needed. So it shouldn't just keep any charger at 5v-2a

Yea i already sent it to the service center, It should get back to my hands hopefully in a week or two.
Avoid using those 1amp and cheap charger, they will get hot and cause unwanted problem, also if both the charger and the phone'battery got hot then avoid using that charger.
I have Redmi Note 4X. I use two charger that i trust: Aukey PA-T9 and RAVPower RP-PC017. Never had a problem with these two, as of the original mi charger i just kept it the the box.

The phone didn't come with the original charger, They gave me an replacement one. Which already exploded. And in this situation it doesn't matter original or 3rd party. There are better chargers then Original like Anker's , Tronsmart's etc.
Okay got the phone back, Seems to run more stable in the mean the charger doesn't get as hot as it was before. I'll try updating in the next few days if it does any more problems!

Unfortunately it's not in stock yet and it seems to have big reseller markups right now.
If someone manages to find a good place to buy I would love to know! Also if someone who already has it can share if you're able to remove/insert the phone without it having power, please share!
As soon as I have it I'll let you guys know my findings.

Yeah but there is a lot of price difference right now. I'm not sure what is closest to the actual retail price. And it's not a first for me that they are selling stuff on aliexpress without having actual stock, so they might essentially be preorders.

Just looking at the expected delivery time (if it's about 18-25 days is ok, if it's 40-60 days, mostly the stock is not available).
My 20w wireless charger (the desk one) also ordered from AliExpress and reaches me in about 16 days.

Mine is already dispatched. I Received my Tracking Number. But it says "will arrive on 27. Of March". Totally fine for me, my Mi 9 wont arrive within the next week. So.... Okay to me.
Btw im thinking of opening the 12v charger and Install this unit permanently in my car.
Hook IT up the Main Power supply and hide all the cables. This Thing Looks to bei a Safe Bet for at least 10 years.

Just received it,and its really great.
The automatic locking mechanism works fine.
Locks and unlocks instantly.
It comes with a power adapter and it chargea in turbo charge.
Great buy!

I received mine too! The only issue I have is that bumps on the road vibrate the phone enough to constantly activate raise to wake (I assume) and turn on the fingerprint icon, although charging shows a little car icon (drive mode?).
Drive mode should disable raise to wake, hopefully this is fixed in a later update. I'll test some thing later, like manually activating drive mode before I take a trip.
Other than that, this is a nice piece of tech. It charges fast, comes with a sticky piece so you can place on windshield I assume. Sadly I don't have a sturdy enough spot to use the clamp.
It charge my phone by 2000mA, which is half of 20W, but not bad.
The opening mechanism work fine, it is not very convenient because one need to start the engine before mounting the phone in the holder.
I don't like to put the phone on the air condition vent as it force me to move my eyes from the road. So I successfully merged it with MPOW windshield vacuum holder arm.
My Xiaomi 20w car wireless charger blasts 3700mAh and my phone displays turbo charge
2nd. opinion after 3 weeks.
After 3 weeks of using this charger, seem, as it is not my best buying.
When it work it work fine, up to 3700 mA in very cold weather, and full air-conditioning forward strait to the charger. Yet if the temperature exceed 25 degrees, or it was left in sun light at parking, then it charge for few minutes and stop. Then even freezing it by air-condition for few hours will not convince it to return to work. If temperature exceed 30 degrees than the arm stop moving.
So seem that this charger is usable only in cold zones in the winter.
Does it come with a 27W QC 3/4/ or 4.0+ DC charger...? I ask because I don't even think Xiaomi sells that thing on its own... Can someone take a pic of the dc charger with the ratings ? Thanks.
The Xiaomi 20w Wireless Charger works very well with this Baseus Charger if using the PD Port! Using the PD Port directly with a USB-C Cable to the Mi9 will not enable "Turbo Charge".
What is the standby consumption? I've nowhere found this information, and since my car outlet is always on, it is a bit of concern (2 LEDs & proximity sensor always operating).
