Splash Proof Case? - Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Accessories

As we all know there's a opening at the top of the device to allow it to slide, I'm wondering if there's a case that provides adequate protection over the gap (as I won't be sliding open in the rain etc. Just more for phone calls)
Better yet, is there a splash proof case around? I know the device can't be waterproof because of the ribbon cable however a case covering the gaps and sides for outdoor use would be great, thanks.

Slippery - Need some way to add grip without a big case?

The 920 feels really slippery to be. I'm sure I'll drop it at some point when using it one-handed.
I don't want a big protective case, but just something to add texture to the back of the phone.
Is there some kind of texturized skin I could stick on? (Ideally with no residue if I remove it)
Or some other rubber that would stick on the back?
Or even a really thin silicon case?
I can't be the only one with this problem, has anyone else noticed this and found a good solution?

I agree that the phone is slippery ... and I started by using a gel case ... which worked, and it had knobby grips on the edges of the case -- and that worked very well to stop dropping the phone (I did that several times before I put the case on it).
Then I tried a phone with the Nokia CC-1043 case ... but that also was too slippery for me. I tried some egrip (they are non sticky things that will "stick" to most any surface ... and if you want something on the back of the phone -- there are pads that are 1" by 2" (about) that would work. However, for me, I wanted something on the edges -- so that I could get it out on the vertical holster that I use. The egrips on the edges did not stay formed along the curve of the case ... so I modified the CC-1043 with some grooves on the edges -- which really works great!
I was going to post some pictures, but I don't have access to a web site for the insertion ... If you send me a private message, I can send you the pictures ...
The grooves were made using a bandsaw with a block of wood taking the place of the phone to provide stability to the case as it was cut ... and there was a block of wood to stop how far into the blade that the case would go, and resulted in a cut that is about 1/2 mm deep ... it provides enough grip to grab the phone out of the case and while holding it -- most of what my hand / fingers are touching are the edges of the phone ...
It depends on which color you have. The blue and red are not as slippery. But I have Ghost armor on mine and it gives it a slightly tacky feel in addition to protecting it from scratches. Mine is red.
I have the black one (matte finish).
Is this the egrips you mentioned? http://www.egrips.com/
It sounds like that might be too much grip. I don't want to have trouble getting the phone into/out of my pocket. I just want more grip so that I don't constantly feel like it's going to fly out of my hand.
I looked at the case you mentioned here and it sounds good: http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-02733P4-CC-1043-Cover-Lumia/dp/B009T8YXCA but having some texture built-in would be nice (as opposed to your DIY grooves).
So I looked at related products and found the following:
http://www.amazon.com/Worldshopping-Black-Matte-Quicksand-Accessories/dp/B00A1Z3U3S/ref=pd_sim_cps_7
http://www.amazon.com/JKase-Premium-Quality-Nokia-Streamline/dp/B00A1UPHYS/ref=pd_sim_cps_17 (the sides of this seem ideal)
http://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-Series-Protective-Nokia-Lumia/dp/B009YLCFZY/ref=pd_sim_cps_3 (don't like the color)
http://www.amazon.com/NOKIA-LUMIA-HYBRID-RUBBERISED-COVER/dp/B009YB0P5G/ref=sr_1_1 (mentioned by a reviewer above)
Can anyone speak for those cases? Probably going to make a decision between those 5 in a day or so.
I had a case like the JKase ... and it is OK, but it adds some noticeable weight to the phone ... it is the one with knobby sides ... it has a very thin strip along the front-bottom of the case that is along the micro USB connector and the speakers ... it never was straight, but it also didn't seem to provide much function ... read other posts that said that they cut it off ...
Don't know about the other cases ...
The egrips link that you have are the ones that I tried ... I always use a case and never just in the pocket -- so I don't know if it would cause a problem ...
Like I said, I like the Nokia case after the modification ... before it, it was still at risk of being dropped ...

The cc-1043 cases is matte see my ebay sale!
Electrical tape to a thin plastic case.
Simple, thin, and adds a lot of grip. However, it can cause issues if you work in a very hot environment as the tape will goop and slip. Otherwise, I do this with almost all of my devices.
Add texture to slippery cell phone
To make your phone less slippery, you can add textured stickers to it. The kind that you would put on the bottom of the bathtub to prevent slips.
I bought some good ones at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. You can cut them into any shape you want. They were actually shaped like fish. I cut them into strips and put a few on the back of the phone and on the sides.
You can find them in many colors.
Amazon has a good selection.
Surprised nobody has mentioned Ghost Armor. It's perfect for what you want.
I bought their MatteArmor for the back of my Samsung Galaxy tablet and to provide a matte finish instead of it's slippery plastic.
Increased holdability (made up word lol) and maintains the look of the device because it's transparent and thin.
It's that good I paid to have it shipped from the USA to UK. Lifetime warranty, 30 day money-back guarantee
Here's a link to the Lumia range but they do literally any device.
Just bought silicone case from dx.com. Transparent, back side is matted. Not bad for this price, but flash working incorrect - fills all the frame because case scatters light
I'm a a sailing captain and watch people dropping their phones all the time, breaking glass and going overboard. I looked for a solution and couldn't find on that fit the bill as being easy to use, no installation, fits most phones and cases, so I invented one for me. People wanted one, so I patented it and just started production. Just search CellGrasp in google. You'll find me. Drop me a note and you can check it out at the site. Dropping cell phones is a real and growing problem. CellGrasp is a device that is a solution to the problem. Simple, easy, secure, better pics and vids instantly. Just for your information...

SGH-T779 and my case/screen protectors of choice

Hello Android fans,
I'm a new user to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 from T-Mobile (SGH-T779), and I wanted to discuss my case and screen protectors of choice I like.
First of all, my screen protector of choice in most cases is usually Zagg's invisibleShield, because it works REALLY well, most of the time. I say most of the time for reasons not related to this situation. I have a Galaxy Note 2 as well with a wallet case that presses against the screen, Zagg's plastic technology doesn't work so well for it in that kind of situation.
Otherwise, my Tab 2 has a nice wet-applied Zagg invisibleShield HD screen on it, and it's plain awesome. There's no quality loss in the screen, it doesn't scratch very easily and doesn't collect a whole lot of fingerprints. It does collect them, but easily wiped off with a simple cloth.
My case I'm using, though it's not /perfect/, it's just currently the best I could personally find at the time.
It's the RooCase RC-GALX10TAB2-DA-BK Dual-Axis leather folio case. Basically it works using a 2-piece assembly. The main part holds the case in a nice felt-feeling case, so you can hold it, without the outer case, in a night light package. The outer case has velcro to hold the inner part to it so you can rotate it by sticking it to the velcro. This allows it to be in landscape or portrait mode very nicely, and it doesn't fall over when in portrait mode like a lot of the other dual-axis folios seem to have a problem with. It does use a low-powered magnet on the front of the inner case to the outer inner case so it snugs together when closed.
The only downsides are, so far:
The stylus/pen holder is on the outside edge of the outer case, so it sticks out like a soar thumb, and can easily be knocked out.
The case has no hole on the bottom side for the 30-pin connector, though this issue can be kind of gotten around by simply rotating the tablet to its side, or completely upside down, thanks to full auto-rotation of the Android interface. I usually plug it in every night in this manner, rotated out to put the 30-pin on the outer side and plugged in.
It is "technically" leather, but it seems like every other "Genuine Leather" product out there, where the leather is just a very very thin layer of leather covered over cardboard or other fillers. (I make leather stuff as a hobby, so I know what real leather is capable of and feels like when done properly).
The plus sides are:
It fits rather well and does not interfere with the touchable screen area, even with my big hands I have yet to conflict with the edges of the touchable screen. .
It fits very snug and tightly, so it doesn't move at all.
It fully exposes the power, volume rocker, microSD slot, IrDA port, and headset port, and covers most of the SIM card, so it helps prevent loss of the SIM card in case it ever popped open and somehow snapped out.
Anyway, that's my review, hope it's helpful to people.

Book style case with kickstand (no bending cover)?

Hey I'm looking for a case with a hard cover that doesn't bend - like a keyboard case or a case with a kickstand. It also MUST attach to the tablet in a way that allows the tablet to swing freely but it doesn't matter if it's via magnet or hinge.
It doesn't matter if it has a keyboard and the quality of the keyboard doesn't matter as I won't be using it.
The Zagg Folio 8" Auto-fit looks perfect - except it's WAY more than I want to pay. Can anyone please recommend any other cases that are lower priced? The feature that I need is a non-bending cover that attaches well, anything else like keyboard or looks is unimportant. Thanks!
Reason I need a non-bending cover is I want to hang the tablet so it hangs on a monitor with the cover portion laying flat on the top of the monitor so it's at eye level for use on a stationary cycle and so the monitor screen is covered. The two bendy covers that I've tried this with "collapse" and the weight of the tablet drags off the top.
I have an idea: Why not use Velcro stickers so it can hang of the top(back) of the display unit itself? It would be way cheaper if you already have something in mind and can be easily removed. And even the slimmest stickers could be left on the cover without interfering with the screen once it's closed or when held while in use.
Nice idea but it's for a machine at my gym.

Review of Techmatte Amfilm 3D Curved

So I tried the Techmatte Amfilm glass screen protector and unfortunately it didn't meet up to my preferences for a protector.
I got contacted to review the (I assume) PET film version of the protector.
I've had it on now for about 2 weeks (wanted to give it ample time).
When putting it on, I watched their install video. It made it extremely easy and simple to put on. The fit of it was pretty good BUT they could have extended it a little more on the top and bottom of the phone (side to side is perfect).
Protection wise, this will protect the main part of the screen but as mentioned above, the top bottom will be unprotected (not sure if they did this so it doesn't interfere with Gear VR or not). The film fits perfect with my Spigen Slim fit case (haven't tried with any other cases yet).
The only detractor I have is fingerprints and smudges are very visible. They're easy to wipe off but nothing to help stop/prevent it. Not a huge detractor IMO. Their adverts do show it to help prevent smudges and whatnot and since I can't compare against a competitor I can stipulate to how much better/worse this one does at that.
Also the film seems reddish hue to it(can bee seen when screen is off(not sure if that is some sort of UV layer or what but it is NOT visible when screen is on).
Overall I definitely give this protector a resounding pass if you need something to protect your screen and don't want to deal with glass.
I'm putting the link to it here - I removed any affiliate parts of the link

I'm going to try and get some pics tonight

Review of "Lighting Armor Case"

So I ordered the fancy case thinking I would have it for the life of the phone... Don't like it at all. Here is why.
1. It doesn't make the phone any easier to hold or help prevent accidental screen touching at the edges. You would need a pop socket to hold the phone well... Which would cover the light.
2. It doesn't offer much protection at all and is smooth hard plastic that promotes dropping and sliding off surfaces.
3. The lit up part is under open recessed holes which will fill with gunk over time. You'll have to carefully clean them with a needle.
4. The lighting doesn't use the stock light port on the back, it's lit by a bright little LED next to the camera flash that eats up some battery.
I much prefer the cheap hybrid tpu / plastic case that was on my one plus 6T. It made the phone easier to hold and use as well as offering great protection.
Do you have the kunai? If so would the case get in the way of adding the kunai 3s?
Don't own the kunai so not sure.
Will probably buy a different case though, if I keep this one I'll eventually end up breaking this phone
The cheaper tpu cases air trigger cutout only allow for single trigger and does not support dual or sliding usage for the trigger.
The lighting armor case cover fully the top and bottom of the phone, and also stick out quite a bit on the left and right side of the phone. It should offer some drop protection as it is quite hard to remove. Only thing is there is no front lip with screen protector applied. However it offer ample camera lens protection.
Until correct cutout are made for 3rd party cases, I cannot recommend any of them.
I threw together a 3D printed outer case that fits over this case but doesn't cover any of the bottom lighting. Makes it a bit easier to hold and should offer more protection. Still a bit of a work in progress but if you have a printer and want to try it out, knock yourself out. I still need to do something to make the buttons easier to press and the air triggers are pretty much a no go. I also covered the dock port. I'm not much of a gamer, I just wanted a fast phone with a big screen and huge battery

based on what I've seen so far probably
the official little lighting case doesn't work with the desktop dock which I could forgive, the aero cooler which kinda makes sense it would be pointless not to have direct contact, but I was shocked to find it didn't even work with the twinview dock, I plan to get the kunais when they come out but right now I'm calling it that they won't like cases of any kind.
