Google has gotten better getting the ota out, but it still takes about a day for me. Not doing anything at the moment so just downloaded it and sideloaded. Looks like there are a few bugs for ok goggle and something with netflix.

1.7 GB size, it's a update patch or a full firmware?

I got it now. Its only 62,8 MB.

Receiving it right now. This is an improvement since I received the May update around the middle of the month.

Usually I get it within 24 hrs and I don't generally sideload bc it's a hassle and I don't mind waiting. I just wasn't doing jack today at work so I decided to do it during work time.
That means I got paid to do nothing at work today and update my phone for those of you keeping track.

Anyone run into an issue where notification sounds play even with ring/notification set to vibrate? Just started this week and aside from the ota and disabling/removing a couple apps, I changed nothing.

I installed this update via ota and did factory reset, after all I found captiveportallogin error message popped up when I tried to sign in to public WiFi. anyone can help? Thanks.

My car radio doesn't recognize my phone anymore, I get Unknown device... can't use Android Auto anymore. Tested with Nexus 9 and the Galaxy S8 of my girlfriend, Android Auto works..

Force dark theme doesn't work anymore

Just got the message to update lol, lost my root. I just clicked and didn't think. I know what I'm doing in the morning

You will lose root on every update with these devices. It is a matter of seconds to get it back. Connect to the computer and run the TWRP .img from bootloader then re-flash Magisk. You won't even lose your Magisk settings.

Block OTA with new APN

Changing APN from default blocks OTA and OTA notifications. Copy default minus fota and save then select the new one.
Edit...if you already have the notification this will probably not remove it.
Thank you for this very useful information:good:
Removing fota does nothing.
Setup the new apn your way, then rebooted. OTA still appear still starts with the phone. You need to freeze two services using Titanium Bkup to ensure OTA is disabled. Did it this way, worked for about 2 days without any notice. Fool mproof.

This worked for me on att, see screenshot E97010o is the updated firmware I am still on the original.
Here guys
Froze these!!!
I'm on the base.05.
I bought my phone on Black Friday and was too busy to mess with it that day. I had WiFi on and overnight it updated itself from version E97010l (IIRC) to E97010o. I haven't had time to read the full FreeGee thread but I believe I have to wait for the unlock method/tool to be updated. Wish I saw this sooner as I assumed it would require me to select to install the OTA update

Good to know! I planned on going through the thread later after work.
So, just by removing "fota", you are protected from OTA? Any side effects from this mod? I want to know that fota's only function is OTA on the phone, can anyone confirm?

[Q] Hisense Sero 7 Pro stock kernel?

Hello, I flashed the XE-SeroROM and kernel from the dev thread and would like to revert to stock. I see the stock firmware available but does anyone know where I can locate the stock kernel as well? Any help is greatly appreciated.
EDIT: In addition, does anyone know how I might restore functionality to vudu? A good addition to the first post in that dev thread would be a warning that it kills vudu and even reverting to stock doesn't fix it.
I took the Boot.img provided and inserted it into the kerneltest.zip and it seems to have worked. The OTA update is almost working now. Seems to fail at "set_perm" status 7. ??
RE:
Still no joy. I managed to get back to stock recovery, stock kernel, stock OS (is this really stock?), and even mostly apply the update thus breaking wifi so...restore everything stock and no vudu. It seems once you root flash recovery then vudu is a lost cause for good? Is it requiring a secure key in the original rom that gets lost when flashing maybe? I guess since I'm in the window, I'm going to just return it and grab another.

Yeah I ran into the same problem trying to install the update...got an error and my wifi quit working. So I reinstalled the stock ROM. Once we have ten posts we can ask in the forum. Other than that I love this tablet. I am sure someone will make a ROM with the update included. Remember the sero 7 is new and I am confident the best is yet to come for it. You might want to hang onto it.

I just exchanged it for another one. I think there is a security feature in it the same as with some other embedded devices that won't allow it to become "stock" once again after you flash a custom rom. It should have been able to install the update fully and use vudu if it had truly been returned to original condition. I hope they consider posting a warning about that in the first post. I know Vudu doesn't matter to a lot of people but it is a pretty important feature to me and I like to be able to keep up with OTA updates if they have relevance to device specific drivers or whatever. The custom rom was cool though...I can't believe how much has been accomplished with it in a short time.
Sent from my M470BSA using xda app-developers app I too have not been able to update. I went back to stock but still the update failed.I wish someone would incorporate the update into a new ROM.I didn't know that I could not return to true stock or I wouldn't have installed the ROM. I've lost some of the stock apps too like the remote. But I still think the devs have done and amazing job for this early in this tablet release.

You are right about the warning. All I did was root mine and installed cwm..I did not install the custom ROM. I am sure they will find a work around for the update. I hope so cause i am just outside the 15 days.I don't use vudu but I understand. I know I could buy a new one and return this one but this one is perfect so i am gonna keep it. So we wait and see what happens next with Dev...lol

Yup..I know how you feel. I am going to hang in there and keep mine. The fact that so much has been done since release is a good indicator of much more to come. It will be interesting to see what the next rom will be.

I suppose karma bit me on the ass. I exchanged mine in perfect physical condition to get one with a stuck pixel and a spot near the bottom that looks like some kind of screen fault. Should have left well enough alone...I would rather do without vudu than have this. The update seems substantial though.

1. why vudu? you have an entire android market.
2. xboxexpert provides an executable to go back to bone stock. just run from within windows.
3. you should learn to do it thru fastboot

If you were so smart, u should of figured, how ridiculously easy it is to make ten MEANINGFUL posts. Stop the whining, deal with it, and make those ten, THE RIGHT WAY!
RE:
Vudu because it supports ultraviolet and contains much of my already owned content which I do not wish to purchase again. In general I prefer the service to google play video because it is on my Bluray players as well allowing me to easily view the same shared content on multiple locations. The "revert to stock" option does not fix the vudu app or the OTA updates either. Don't know about fastboot yet so no comment there.

Sorry that happened to you. Maybe take it back and get another one? I would think the update does more than just patch a security hole. I mean it 50megs. It's a shame Hisense doesn't post revisions.

It puts the device back to what appears to be bone stock. But the update still does not install for me and yes I have tried everything. Have you tried installing the update after just doing a root and CWM and reverting back to the "stock rom"?
xboxexpert has a new version of his root and custom UI for the Sero 7 pro posted for the new build that came out.

I have not had problems with Vudu, even after rooting my Sero 7 Pro, playing with XERom, and restoring it back to stock (but rooted). There are two differences that may be involved.
I only played with Vudu after restoring it to stock. I never ran it before.
I did a backup of my stock ROM and installed software immediate after installing CWM, and I used that to restore everything. (It's nice having 32GB of SD Card to backup to.)

Weird, I still have my Vudu and remote apps after rooting & cwm on my sero7 pro. But then again, I just did the root 3 weeks ago so maybe the root file from the xbox Dev post has been modified/amended/fixed to fix that issue since the version you used back when you did yours. Either way.. I'm sorry that has happened to you, I also like my Vudu My problem now is waiting for them to release something to help us trick our devices into switching our internal storage path with our external/SD paths so we can actually USE our SD cards like intended>>for storing apps!.. spent all that damn money on a 32gb card cause I knew I was gonna be an app hog, only to turn out that all I can use it for is storing photos, video, docs and music..but no apps!?!! Yeah, I'm having the SAAAME exact issues... about the first 3 weeks after rooting with that rom everything was allll good and great..... NOW, I have to shut down and reboot about 5-8 times A DAY!.. 'Launcher' stops working, and EVERY-DAMN-TIME my tablet goes to sleep/screen off for more than about 30-40 mins..it just crashes and you have to force it to shut down and reboot.. Rooting was soooo not worth it, I never even really ended up using any "root required" features or apps anyways, besides folder mount (stopped functioning), and GameKiller. And now I'm fizznucked cause even know my sero7p is only 2 MONTHS old/new and I bought the 2 year replacement plan..rooting voided that So yeah, I'm RIGHT there with u, stuck with what used to be a kick ass functioning tablet, that is now just a nuisance and is gonna end up being yet another dusty R.I.P. electronic stuck in a drawer somewhere..when will I learn?! lol. Same here, i fast forwarded my phone clock by 24 hours 5 time to push through the update check time limit, still no downloading. The server is probably congested, if I'm able to get through tonight somehow I'll post up the update file, otherwise I might just wait it out a few days and let the update hit me when its supposed to.
Mine was downloading really slow, and after around 60% it failed. Now I have to wait 24 hours before I can check for an update.

INCOMING Update! 3/18 AT&T

Got a notification this morning about downloading a system update and out of habit, immediately turned the phone off even though I don't have plans to root(mainly because it's not available yet!).
Anyone know what's in the update or what it's adding/patching?
Looks like a pretty small update, 40.67MB. Says "Device Security Improvements" Baseband version went from APB5 to APC2
That probably means there is a root exploit even if nobodies found it yet huh

Question LOS install

So, I'm patiently waiting on my bootloader unlock code and had a question just to make sure I do this right. After the unlock of my TMobile variant, I plan on installing the LOS rom into my phone but need to make sure of some things. 1. I would downgrade to the Android 11 version of the stock rom first correct? Also 2. The mindthegapps is the best version to use correct?
I have been a member of this forum for a long time now and am clearly getting old. Haha. My first phone to root and unlock with these forums was an htc phone. Had a few of those. Then my favorite phone to play with on here was a Nexus 4. Then 2 separate pixel phones ending with the pixel 4. Money has been a little tight lately and I saw TMobile's deal with this phone recently and couldn't hesitate. Been a decent phone so far but can never hesitate when seeing an opportunity to make a phone better.
Thank you in advance to anyone who helps.
Yes. You'll have to downgrade to 11. Mindthegapps works fine but I recommend FlameGapps full as that includes stuff like digital wellbeing, google clock, google calculator, and more that mindthegapps won't give you.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/gapps-arm64-flamegapps-for-android-10-0-11-0-12-0-12-1.4020917/
There are addons by the way, just don't install pixel launcher as that one doesn't work.
I actually prefer bitgapps. But that's just me. You WILL see that they are not verified versions, hitn"flash anyways".
www.onepluscommunityserver.com has the firmware under "unbrick tools".

Thank you both for all the help and advice. I appreciate it @justauserthatusesaphone @Springles2
remember you need msm tool on windows to downgrade. there's basically no other way
:')
There is a Linux tool... But it is a lot to learn lol. And it is cli-based
Interesting, now I can't check the status of my unlock code on OnePlus website. When checking the status it just comes back as a white page. Hope I'll still get it.
Does the unlock token webpage work at all for you guys?
When I go to the page (https://www.oneplus.com/unlock_token), I get nothing but a blank page.
I've tried this on Windows 10, Ubuntu, Android combined with Firefox, Chrome, Edge, mobile browser and they all show up as blank.
I wrote to oneplus support few days ago and all I've received was a generic response - wait until they work on it.

Also going a little back off topic, I got my unlock code approval email just like they said it would. Pretty much 7 days to the minute. The sad part is the download link and regular link also still go to a blank page. Sad day, I was ready to get this done today.
I GET IT. Why is it white still... This the 4th day in a row... It doesn't take 4 days to repair or build a dns server... Even from scratch... Trust me.. I've done it.

I have as well, I went to school for network administration. The thing that I think it might be is an all hands on deck for their OxygenOS 13 beta they are releasing currently from what I understand. Of course I could be completely wrong. I could be completely wrong though. I'll just continue to be patient. Knowing now I have the email saying it's ready, nothing I could do but wait. Just hopefully it's fixed sooner rather than later. I doubt it will be today though since it's Sunday.

Yes. You'll have to downgrade to 11. Mindthegapps works fine but I recommend FlameGapps full as that includes stuff like digital wellbeing, google clock, google calculator, and more that mindthegapps won't give you.

There are addons by the way, just don't install pixel launcher as that one doesn't work.
