I've tried EU miui from about 3 weeks ago, ROS from 2 weeks ago and since them am on mi-globe 9.5.30.
All ROMs were clean flashes from TWRP.
I formatted the device, made as clean an install as possible, my phone is decrypted, I am rooted with magisk 19.2 and I reinstalled everything from scratch.
Yet I am still having rare, but annoying 'whatsapp keeps crashing' errors, followed by a WhatsApp restart with many messages appearing in delay. I have WhatsApp locked, disabled miui optimization on it, tried all the tricks, and nothing...
This is something that has happened under eu miui and ROS as well and I have no idea why this is happening and how I can fix it.
Are you using Whatsapp with the new eu MIUI you suggested?

Thank you SO MUCH for the links. I can't download the ETA since I'm rooted, so flashing the full rom on twrp did update :highfive:

No, I never even knew about SELinux before. Is this something I do for a specific app (in my case WhatsApp) or is it something preventive I should do before/while reflashing and reinstalling everything again?

I solved the problem. It seems I manually select led a silence.ogg file for silencing the group notifications and it caused some sort of problem. Changing this to thebuilt in None option solved it completely.
This was the error log from which I realized the source of the error:

I hope this fixes the lost data bug I've been experiencing, where you lose signal and when you regain it no data passes until you reboot or toggle data.

The software of this phone is terrible, i will never buy Xiaomi phone again ! From the beginning and even after updates i still have theses problems :
- No notifications on status bar, i must check notifications every time manually.
- When battery is low, i don't receive notifications, i checked and disabled all the power saving options but no luck.
- When phone switch from wifi to data, there's no internet i must switch data on/off every time.
- I must take the phone on my hand to get fingerprint detected.
What the hell are you doing Xiaomi !

I did find the disappearing notifications EXTREMELY annoying myself.
I only don't have that issue now because I unlocked bootloader and installed a custom ROM. Something I shouldn't have to do.
Also, they really should have built in a sort of pocket mode for the fingerprint sensor. That's how they did it with the Mate 20 Pro (how it should be!!)

switch to global beta. it's as stable as it gets. no issues with notifications and whatnot. im on 9.6.27 and super happy with the experience. no bootloader unlock needed either

I thought bootloader had to be unlocked for that... so how do I install the global beta again?
I couldn't find it...maybe I just overlooked it...

Flash Global Developer 9.6.27 for a better experience on Mi9, if you want to remain on an official rom, or choose ROS, xiaomi eu, PE.

If you come from EEA you have to install Global Stable for first using xiaomitool v2 (search it in Google), then you can install Global Beta through updater, directly on phone. No bootloader unlock needed in this way

If you are on OxygenOS 3.0.2, flash the OTA, then SuperSU straight after it, and you should be still rooted.
Is it possible to flash the updated modem and bootloader on a custom rom? eg delete the system folders in the zip and flash it or by fastboot

No, because the zip doesn't contain the full firmware images - it just patches the stock 3.0.2 firmware.

FCK, I think I bricked my device. I flashed the files through fastboot and now nothing happens.
Edit: fixed it. Guess custom rom users can not get 3.1.0 bl and modem?

I have applied the patch and made a "firmware only" update zip for OOS 3.1.0. I have flashed it running CM13 and do not see any problems (Use it at your own free will)

Unable to flash in recovery showing error 7 ???
This "update" is junk. It doesn't fix the picture compression problem that people have been complaining about for months. It doesn't fix the battery drain. It doesn't add VOLTE. It doesn't add the OnePlus gallery app or music app that was added to the OP3 and the OPX. It is basically the August security patch and that's it. LAME. Someone also mentioned that it adds 2 icon packs. Neat.

How did you judge about battery drain problem so fast! The update is by no means small. I looked at all the files in the patch and they have almost touched all aspects of the ROM. Like many have posted, if the device did not come with VoLTE, there is a very slim chance we will get it. More than a technical problem, it is a lengthy process.

Same problem here! (TWRP 3) First got a build.prop error message, reverted build.prop back to stock, error went away but error 7 was still there.
I'm on Boeffla Kernel + Super SU + Xposed, could any of those have anything to do with it?

I personally could care less about the VoLTE. Just pointing it out. But how hard would it have been to fix the picture compression problem? That's just lazy. Especially since it's been reported for MONTHS on the OP forums. And how about adding the music and gallery apps? And at only 29MB, they sure didn't touch much...

Some fixes and not fixes that I 've noticed so far on 3.1.0, comparing it to 3.0.2 ...
Fixed
* Do not Disturb can now be scheduled via a 3rd app (eg Tasker)
* NET location is now available on Tasker doesn't work, it was probably cached
* GPS icon now appears on the status bar when using Sygic, it did not on 3.0.2 yet gps was available.
Not Fixed
* Recents does not always show the last running app, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't
To be seen ...
* GPS drops after 20 minutes or so when using Sygic, it is consistent, I 'll find out about that tomorrow.
Clean flashed 3.0.2, flashed 3.1.0 update and factory reseted immediately.
No SuperSu/Xposed/Mods for now until I get a better picture of stock behavior.

Not only sygic I face the same problem on any GPS app (maps as example).
And not really after 20 minutesn but sometime 10 minutes and some other time 50 minutes. I have to disable and enable back GPS to fix it for few more minutes.

This is exactly the problem that I have, I got to close GPS and reopen it (or Sygic), in order to get it working again.
I haven't use GPS for over 50 mins, not at least since the release OOS 3.0.2. And yes, a couple of times GPS dropped in about 10 mins.
I 've seen it also occuring on Google Maps but I thought I shouldn't mention it because I rarely use it and don't have a solid opinion.
What I can say is it doesn't occur on OOS 2.2.1, no matter what.
Let's hope that the GPS icon that now appears on the statusbar is more than a UI fix and has some substance. More on that tomorrow when I' ll use GPS to and from work.
I 've also oppened an issue with Sygic about 3 weeks ago but I have no reply yet ...

Same problem here! (TWRP 3) First got a build.prop error message, reverted build.prop back to stock, error went away but error 7 was still there.
I'm on Boeffla Kernel + Super SU + Xposed, could any of those have anything to do with it?

Redmi Note 4 Aggressively kills all background apps. Solution?

The consequences of the eagerness of MIUI to kill all background apps means that Facebook Messenger does not function as required. The application is always killed, meaning I cannot receive messages unless I am on the app.
It seems as though every app is immediately killed once it is no longer on the screen. I know this because if I open a webpage on Chrome, and then use the "Recents" button to switch to another app, then use it to switch back to Chrome, the webpage I opened needs to reload, due to Chrome being killed.
Things that I have tried
MIUI Optimization - Off
Don't Keep Activities - Off
Background process limit - Off
Memory optimization - Off
Autostart - On for all apps
Battery Saver - Off
Power settings - Balance and Performace both tried
Manage apps' battery usage - Off
The problem persists!
I would be incredibly grateful if somebody could help me solve this problem!
Hi, what ROM are you running? I believe they enabled Zram in a recent build & your problem is discussed here:
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/rom-xiaomi-eu-stable-for-redmi-note-4.34349/
I personally am running the Xiaomi.eu 8.1.3.0 Stable & don't have any such issue.

I'm running MIUI Global 8.0.5.0.0 (MBFCNDG)
Yeah okay so that's an unofficial vendor ROM..., just do a flash & see how you go.

How would I flash the ROM? The phone currently does not allow me to enter recovery mode, and the bootloader is locked. Once I receive the authorisation to unlock the bootloader, what do I do to flash it?
Sorry to bother you so much!

There are plenty of articles about this on here & on MIUI forums.
But I will help you with the links, just double check, read & understand everything thrice!!

Have fun!!

Btw, you can flash the China Developer ROM now while you are waiting for your Unlock code, but up to you if it's your primary device...
try the following:
settings > battery > Power > Power options (the gear icon at the top right corner) >clear cache when device is locked = never

bad flash - no network,baseband

Hi all,
Thanks in advance.
Officially unlocked snap
baseband is unknown
no network
no wifi
bluetooth is unavailable
mac address looks something like this : 02:00:00 etc
I do have imei numbers for both slots both sv are unknown though
I didn't backup the efs partition
So I tried to flash a different rom but it failed luckly I had backed up the current rom and can access official twrp ( iwas using zcx but when flashing it hung so flashed offical) and fastboot
I'm really not sure how to proceed alot of what I have read seems to point me to fastboot a rom using miflash, but this thread shows a different way but I have my imei.
Thanks again
Try this ://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/flash-recover-efs-snapdragon-t3406789

now what? reflash with kate
ok so I tried to reflash with Kate I got up to the point where you try and upgrade the qualcomm driver to "10" i couldn't get this to work but flashed anyway Kate v8.0.4.0. After the flash it came up with a error but I rebooted and had dinner. Anyway it seemed to load up but was full of errors popping up at the bottom of the screen. I let it update again. and they went away and i got bluetooth back, next update bought wifi......next and I have a baseband????? baseband version is -8976_GEN_PACK-1.74446.1.75478.1
But to get it to work I did this I had to turn all the radios on and off, i can't get sms to send or recieve???? strange but hangouts work???? mi messenging just shuts really quick on opening android messaging wont let me write or send a message, it will only let me select a contact.
mobile network state is disconnected????????
I can make and recieve phone calls.
Do you have your IMEIs check that
Hi
imei's are both ok thanks.
xiaomi messaging closes on opening with a error but it's to quick to read, android messaging lets you select a contact but you can't write a message????
mobile network state is disconnected - I'm gonna try and manual change the apn's but not till after work .
managed to send pictures and text via hangouts on data last night so don't get why messaging does not work?
If I were you I would reflash a stable rom for your device through mi flash the latest if you want, and also if you have locked bootloader use edl mode instead of fastboot to flash!
Just flashed the latest global developer rom though system update, mobile network state is disconnected.......but I can make and receive texts and phone calls. Hopefully that's it and sorted.
As a side note I can see now that flashing kate when the drivers didn't work, it just reset the device to a early version........all personal data was was still there. This time round it wanted user names and passwords for everything.
Anyway thank you tabenf for your time ideas and patience.

If it still give you error then download fastboot rom from miui download. And flash it using edl method. This is much more convenient and it will solve all problem. Or if you dont mind using custom rom, then flash LineageOS and then flash Kate Firmware. Thestrix have provided the lates firmware for kate on his thread.

Samsung S9+ rooted, daily irregular automatic reboot

Hey guys,
I have bought a Samsung S9+ via Amazon.
Because I am rooting my Samsungs since forever, I intended to do so again immediately. Used Magisk and so on.
Somehow this phone got stuck at the logo (bootloop?) and I couldnt use it anymore. Felt like the whole system was broken cuz nothing was possible.
So I downloaded a legit new firmware (I think it was the right one for my model) and used Odin to upload it on my phone. Then I rooted the phone again without any issues.
Perfect root right now.
However, independent from any used apps the phone reboots everyday by itself, lockscreen or while using. (I assume its not an app issue then..?)
I'd highly appreciate any help.
PS. I forgot where I got the firmware from, but it was definitely a legit website.
Here are some phone stats.
Modelnumber:SM-G965F/DS
ONE UI-Version 1.0
Android Version 9
Kernel Version 4.9.59-15540155
Please let me know if you need more information.

Hey guys,
I have bought a Samsung S9+ via Amazon.
THank you ahead

I have heard that there is a "protective system" against root on the new galaxy phones, did you try flashing this too?
https://download.highonandroid.com/...65_PIE_Root_for_OEM_issue_devices_V5.zip.html
Hope this will help!
Thanks for the reply.
I think I have done that too.
Followed a certain guide on xda actually, which included 3 or 4 files for rooting.
Is it afterwards via magisk possible?
Whats the suggestion anyone can give me, except maybe as last option reflashing everything.
Also, where would I be able to find a proper firmware if that is the issue.
Thanks a lot!

Try cleaning cache partition, if it doesn't work, try booting into safe mode, and see if the problem persists, if not, it must be a app, disable apps one by one and see which one is causing the problem
Magisk can only flash modules specially designed for it.

I have actually factory reset my phone completely and while adjusting the first settings (right after the wipe, with no apps yet) it did it again..Reboot.
However, I didnt mention, the reboot might happen, but after the phone is back to its previous state, apps are still opened. Technically its not a real reboot then.
Happens once a day, no fixed time.
Is it a matter of a wrong root? Followed this one

exactly the same way.
Still looking for help :/

[App] AsusUpdater v1.0.4 - WW System updates for Tencent/Unlocked phones

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a Tencent edition of the ROG Phone 2, and was a bit annoyed to see that automatic system updates no longer worked after converting it to a WW ROM. I did some digging and found out that ASUS uses the IMEI of the device to track what updates the device is entitled to, including the region. So a CN IMEI would only be entitled to CN firmware updates.
That's what led me to write this app that interacts directly with the ASUS servers to look for updates, but using a spoofed IMEI that makes the server think it's WW. It was a bit of work to figure out how it all works, but I have managed it, and it seems to work as it should - I successfully upgraded from .44 to .64 just a short while ago using the app.
Download
v1.0.4:
- Allow input of custom IMEI
- Fix issues on Android 10 beta

v1.0:
- Initial release
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KVh8OmgMxMg-jQfpF2LmIW4cqBDKXtyz/view?usp=sharing
Instructions
The app is very basic, but it does what it should. It will check for updates every hour, and send you a notification if it has found an update - or you can force a check by opening the app and pressing the button.
Once the update is downloaded (the updater will notify you when it's done), you will need to restart the device, and upon booting again you will be notified by the system that a system update has been found and be asked if you want to apply it or not.
That's really it, the system will handle the updating from there.
Note 1:
You need to be on completely stock firmware for the update to apply properly. The bootloader can be unlocked, but you can't be rooted or such.
Note 2:
For the updater to work correctly you'll have to allow it to auto-start by going to System settings -> Battery -> PowerMaster -> Auto-start manager and make sure ASUS updater is ticked. Not doing this means you will have to run the app once each boot for notification to work correctly.
Note 3:
If the update fails (after rebooting and starting the update), I will need a log to be able to figure out what's wrong. The relevant tag is UpdateLauncher.

Wow great work mate I will download the app when the next update will be available.

Hats off for you Senior.
I'm on WW_ZS660KL-16.0622.1906.19-0, was never able to update this phone that I imported from China to EU, and your tool doesn't find new updates available to install either. Could it be that I'm on ww firmware but cn fingerprint? (seller's doing, not mine). I'm 100% on stock everything (meaning, I haven't tinkered with the software one bit). Would appreciate some clarification, thank you.

As it turns out, the CN fingerprint does affect it; I didn't think it would, but one of the props that the app uses to send to the server actually changes based on the fingerprint.
I've fixed it, so please try this, and let me know if it works:

For me it's the same, unfortunately. Not sure what I could be doing wrong.

Sorry, I had completely missed another reference to the CN fingerprint. Try this latest one (tested and working for me with fingerprint changed to CN):
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1IgDM9T6u4z4LLLudHYIg3hb6OPw7Qz29
It found and downloaded this time, but the update process itself fails, I tried twice. May be because my version is too old? It's the same if I download the update file manually and put it on root, phone detects it after reboot but unable to flash the update.
Just change the fingerprint to WW, having a WW rom with CN fingerprint will cause more issues.

A log would say what's wrong, most likely one of the partitions isn't completely stock - they probably botched something when they flashed the WW ROM on it. Feel free to send me a log and I can have a look.

I can't 'just change it' without rooting the phone, unless there's a way in unaware of. I was planning to do that once android q releases. Otherwise, it's just too much hassle with currently available untested methods.
How do I do that @HomerSp

Sure you can, it's easy just follow this guide, no need to root or to wipe and it takes 5 minutes

I would indeed recommend changing the fingerprint to WW as having a CN fingerprint causes a whole bunch of issues, although that most likely won't fix your upgrade issue. The EDL method is really easy, and can be done in a couple of minutes - and does not require rooting.
As for the log, have you used adb and such? I just need a logcat. There are plenty of guides on how to do that, so I won't go into that here.
You were right it was fairly easy, although the original tutorial should have a warning that entering in edl mode causes the screen to go black and the phone completely unresponsive! Other than that it went smooth. You did an amazing job.
Edit: well, actually, it still fails I'll keep at it

If you get this again I would need a logcat to be able to help you. The update dialog you see on reboot isn't from my app, but it's a system app that I have no control over - so there's no way of telling what's causing it to fail, except for a log.

Thanks so much for this app, I was thinking I would just need to apply the updates manually as they came out. It doesn't seem to be downloading the update when I tap the button though, my data usage stays in the KB/s range or lower. Anything I might be doing wrong?
