So your whole thing is useless? Rooting and installing TWRP was already possible, the problem was the lockscreen thing. Pretty pointless post if its not fixed.

Just try the recovery i uploaded once.(I recompiled IT)
And did we have force encryption disabler before for android pie?
====
one more thing i am working on knox right now if anybody intrested can help me link
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...inally-samsung-cheks-knox-bootloader-t3937529

My question is: Did you fix the thing that broke the lockscreen and the Samsung Account?
If not: Why did you rebrand TWRP when we already have a TWRP for the A6+ and why did you pretty much copy ashyx's Oreo Forced encryption disabler? You changed something in the fstab file and you removed ashyx's name in the updater-script.

Is there a problem with rooting a6+? That lockscreen etc?

Yes that problem does exists but if you have mistakenly set a password or pattern you can do this
Delete (or rename) the following files inside /data/system (note that probably not all of them exist for you, simply delete those you can find) in TWRP RECOVERY:
password.key
pattern.key
locksettings.db-wal
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db

Is it possible to get the device tree used to build this TWRP ?
Thank you in advance !

In pie update samsung has used some new security method even if you flash custom kernal or you have
Set warrenty bit kernal . Elwarning you will not be able to login to samsung account even if you are not rooted.
And if you restore a data bacup of oreo using twrp
All the data would get restored except the samsung account.
Even when modifying a single file in sytem partition and then restoring stock bootimage(i.e. unrooting) would land you in boot loop

1. No you can log in to your samsung account in oreo even if you are rooted
2.You will not face any problem unless your pie is rooted.
3. Be carefull you can trip knox(if its still not triped).

It includes DRM patch and disabled force encryption.
Because fstab.qcom has been moved to system since 8.0, I cannot modify the boot image.
Some of you guys might have a problem with TWRP encryption password. With stock kernel, /data will be encrypted in a few boots even if you set no password.
About this kernel:
- Working camera (DRM-patch)
- Disabled dm-verity (so we can use magisk)
- Can mount /data in recovery (it means we can install magisk inside /data)
- Pass both safetynet
- You can still encrypt any time
- It will not decrypt your data. In other words, you have to do factory reset (wipe data) if it's already encrypted.
- See encryption status in Setting->Security

How to disable by yourself? - Not for Oreo
Prerequisite:
- 32-bit linux (you can use it on liveboot drive or VM)
It doesn't work on cygwin (windows) because of its native executable. So use linux 32 bit (i386), or 64 bit (amd64) with multiarch.
- Unpack using mkbootimg tool made by xiaolu (I tried kitchen and it won't work)
- Open fstab.qcom
- Replace "forceencrypet" with "encryptable"
- Pack again
- Done!
Thanks tobias.waldvogel and xiaolu for their awesome tools.
If you have any question, feel free to ask me or some nice guys here.

In what order to I flash recovery, root and the kernel? (I've never used a kernel before)
Great, but you can just flash twrp-3.0.2-0-kagura.img instead of a newer version and it will work perfectly. For some reason the newer twrps for xz will ask for password to decrypt data
And can you make this for g231?

You have to unlock bootloader first before you can flash anything. Then just "fastboot flash boot <thatkernel>.img" in fastboot (blue LED). Recovery and root is optional. Normally, you have to use TWRP recovery to flash zip (su installer).
So, unlock bootloader -> flash kernel -> flash recovery -> install su in TWRP
Also, you can read detailed my tutorial here.

When you use 3.0.2-0, does it work while being encrypted? Or you have to do a factory reset to prevent further encryption.
Sure, I'll make for you guys when I'm free.

I understood the issue was twrp saying is encrypted while you didn't encrypt it yourself, may have misunderstood but I didn't test it while I actually encrypt it myself. And thanks!
Everything is working fine for the kernel, I no longer get the green photos and I can download Super Mario Run (my go to Safetynet app), but when I try to boot into recovery to flash Magisk all I get is a black screen. I tried flashing another TWRP version and still get a black screen. I'm on the dual sim variant.
Even if this problem can't be fixed, thanks for the kernel!

The problem wasn't installing magisk, it was that TWRP wasn't installing correctly. Attempting to reach TWRP leads to a black screen. It's easily avoidable by booting the twrp.img through adb/fastboot (then flashing magisk there), I just can't install TWRP onto the phone.

Sorry I misunderstood your question, TWRP right now cannot boot in the normal way (from fastboot/adb, or even TWRP itself). You have to hold power+vol down at the same time.

-Different font and splash screen
-Black/white/blue default theme

-Root / Unroot (magisk)
-Delete fingerprints and pins if u accidently forget them
-Fix avb (vbmeta)
-GooglePay fix
-Support the backup of additional partitions

The first thing I did was install a true dark theme with the existing official twrp so cool to see it implemented at default here.
Actually the official one does all I need so will no try this one.
Also not confident in installing a Russian recovery without sources... ?

This feature is very useful as there are many custom ROMs to test for our device with regular updates. Formatting the Data and copying the files every time for each ROM flash is a pain.

Just flashed - I like that it offers more partitions to choose for Flashing IMG and Backup/Restore (screenshots) than the official TWRP
However, like the official/unofficial 3.4.0, it still fails to decrypt data (on startup) for secondary user 999 (screenshots), it does only for user 0

If the official 3.4.0 works (some people claim it does), this 3.4.0.2 should also.
This phone was released with A9, and it seems that SAR architecture of partitions did not change through the upgrades to A10 and now A11

Idk about xiaomi.eu but for msm xtended a11 it worked
U can try this if it doesn't, found it somewhere in telegram
https://t.me/randomdavinci/33877
Is there maybe a newer version for this custom TWRP?
I used to prefer 3.4.0-2 over the official 3.4.0-0 for the stock firmwares (Mi 9T, EEA) since everything worked smooth (like in official) but more partitions were supported for backup and restore.
It worked also fine for Xiaomi.eu Stable
However, I recently installed Xiaomi.eu Weekly A11 beta and this 3.4.0-2 does not ask for pin/pattern.
If I disable screen unock in Android, 3.4.0-2 also does not decrypt, hence it is not possible to work with Data and Internal memory (no, I don't want to flash any Vbmeta or disable encryption)
To the other side, for the official 3.4.0-0 decryption for Xiaomi.eu, beta A11 works both:
- if screen unlock is disabled
- if pattern is used for screen unlock.
(If pin is used, the official asks for the pin but fails to decrypt).
Hence, support for the upcoming A11 is substantially better with the official 3.4.0-0 than with this custom 3.4.0-2

☆ Magisk TWRP Installer ☆
This is originaly a Magisk TWRP Installer made by xXx for OnePlus 8 Pro.
I just took and modified it to get it work on our Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G Ultra.
Our Dr.Ketan helped me to fix the TWRP Installer with the path of the recovery partiton.
1. Before using this Installer you must need following!!!!...... else it wont work:
- Root your device like Dr.Ketan mentioned in his Root thread!!! --> [Guide] How to root N20 Ultra (N986B)(N9860)
2. How you can use this TWRP Installer?
- Download the Magisk TWRP Installer from post 2
- Just open Magisk -> Go to Modules -> Press Install from storage -> Choose the TWRP Installer -> Flash and press Reboot
Congratulation now you flashed TWRP made by ianmacd
3. How to update the Magisk TWRP Installer?
-Download the latest TWRP from Ian and swap only the .img file inside the .zip and repeat point 2.

I have successfully installed it and installation was very quick & smooth! :good:
I will keep monitoring for any issue may arises , hopefully non ..
Thank you dude, Good work !
Good job :good:
The backup/restore function doesn't seem to work . Which is expected .. as i haven't got any working nand backup since the time of old devices ..
I wonder if any one got any successful backup either full or partial for some parts .. ?
I'm using a stock rooted ROM with lite magisk module to enable some CSC features .
What I'm looking for is the ability to restore the system (mainly boot portion) to get back the phone booting if any improper installation of a module or app affected the device to boot normally !
Many function doesnt work in this moment. And recovery have problem with reboot from recovery to system and others problem.
Stock rooted ROM the best for now.

Changelog:
Samsung TWRP unofficial build announcements
(Ian Macdonald)
The following alpha 19 releases for devices launched with Android 10 have, in addition to the latest round of TWRP fixes, a couple of new features:
* When using the file manager, it is now possible to open a terminal in the currently selected folder. This currently works only on devices with TWRP in portrait orientation.
* logd now runs in recovery, so adb logcat will now work when the device is booted to TWRP.

[CLOSED][GUIDE] DOWNGRADE / UPGRADE [11] <=> [10] [ALL]

DOWNGRADE STEPS for ALL Stock/Custom ROMS
!!!
DOWNSIDE = WIDEVINE L1 => L3
!!!
Prerequisite
. Downgrade = install the lower version of android [11] => [10]
. Upgrade = install the higher version of android [10] => [11]
- ADB & Fastboot required / Phone always connected !!!
- Download both : the full fastboot firmware (.tar) (12.0.8.0 i.e) and its recovery firmware (.zip)
- Extract super.img & stock recovery.img
- on normal fastboot, type :
fastboot flash recovery <stock-extracted-recovery>.img
fastboot reboot fastboot [mandatory+++]
- You are now in "fastbootd" (yellow), type :
fastboot erase super
fastboot flash super <extracted-super>.img
[this is mandatory because the "SUPER" structure from 10 is different to the one in 11]
fastboot flash recovery <twrp-recovery>.img
fastboot reboot [keep volume DOWN pressed until you see the normal fastboot splash (blue), then type again] :
fastboot reboot recovery
- in TWRP menu : if you can see the internal storage content, put the recovery firmware (.zip) and flash it.
- if you have corrupted internal storage, make a data format... reboot from TWRP to the normal bootloader and type again :
fastboot boot <twrp-recovery>.img
- in TWRP menu again : Put now the recovery firmware (.zip) to flash it.
- Without rebooting anything : put your android 10 ROM (LOS 17.1 i.e) +/- Magisk & gapps
- Flash 'em All in that order
- format data again
- reboot
These downgrade steps are "tested"
and
work 100% with no issue !!!
Reserved
PART II : UPGRADE
=
RESTORING DRM Keys
L3 => L1
Important !!!
As you you can see, downgrading your android version to [Q] [10] will automatically drop your Widevine to L3 level ... Because once you upgrade the firmware, the TrustedZone (if you downgraded before) will not accept rewriting your old DRM Keys even if you restore them from the "persist" partition. These DRM keys are crypted and stored, in reality, in the TrustedZone; the persist partition only write the decrypted keys to make them readable by your OS.
RESTORE Widevine L1 - STEPS
!!!
Upgrading = flashing SUPER.img and its recovery.img is mandatory
!!!
- The upgrade steps are the same as described in the downgrade process (first post)
- The only way to recover Widevine L1 again after downgrading is to flash the latest xiaomi.eu rom ... because it integers a tool to redownload a new certificate for DRM.
Stock-Original MIUI ROMs don't have this tool yet !!!

}
Select in "MIUI Settings" :
Here, you must set a lockscreen fingerprint to enable the next feature :[mandatory]
Select "Fingerprint payments" :
Then "Widevine (L1)" :
Click on "Download certificate" :
Check now your DRM status !
I rebooted to my TWRP, and installed Pixel Experience [11]. As you can see, the DRM Keys are still in L1 !!!
Netflix Settings :
Reserved
You can install any custom rom you want [Q] or [R] ... but keep in mind :
Downgrading to [10] = Loosing DRM L1 Keys
Upgrading to [11] = The only way to restore them !!!
To keep your DRM Keys in L1, you must stay in the latest [11] firmware (not necessarily a MIUI ROM) or the newer when it comes !
Cheers

Do you have any proof ??? you are misleading people for things you have never done ... only in your mind !
Show us the proof here !
downgrade to any custom rom A10 with L1... 1 million dollars baby waiting for you !
Lol i myself did it back and forth flashing custom rom and stock a10 12.0.9.0 even a11 12.5.1.0 without loosing L1. no need to be rude. Im not saying this applies to everyone. What imsaying is a user like me. Did not have problems in widevine. I dont have the obligation to lie to you or whatsoever. I am here to share my experience just for your clarification. So stop the hate and sarcasm and be open minded kid

same here. i didnt experience any widevine problems. i keep coming back and forth from a11 fw/miui to a10 fw/miui. the reason that it didnt lost it is because i use recovery upgrade from twrp recovery instead of using stock in OTA. and even with anti count of 2 due to fails of downgrading, it stays at L1. probably what you did is you let the system updates its widevine before trying to downgrade. probably it varies from everyone who got updated from a10 to a11 by using OTA.

Flashed successfully but there is a problem. I don't see SYSTEM under wipe and can't install any image properly. Is there any fix?
copy-paste the adb output with mouse + enter key, put in [code]tags[/code] here.
while in TWRP
Code:
adb shell
# cat /etc/fstab
# ls -l $(find /dev/block -name by-name)/*
# cat /proc/mounts

Hello, I also have Lenovo Tab M8 8505X and i also want to install twrp in it but i need confirm a few things first
As you said, u have successfully flashed the twrp please answer me a few questions;
Have you also flashed VM.beta and Preserve force encryption in it? or just twrp?
What stock rom was your tablet running before you installed twrp in it?
Also please tell the android version it was runing
and the kernel version too
long story short,
please send the screen shot of the 'About Tablet' section of your tablet.
make sure the screenshot is of full that it also sover the hardware specs because there are so many varients and generation of Lenovo Tab M8.
So i just want to match wether my Tablet is similar to yours before trying to flash.

I flashed twrp first, then the vbmeta via fastboot (not with twrp) and then reboot to recovery by holding power, vol+ and vol-, then releasing power key. That's how I booted successfully into that (TWRP).
And I don't require twrp now, I just reset my tab with smart and rescue assistant. I wanted to flash every treble Android 13 GSI.
My tab is on latest Android 10

Sure if you want to.
Here you go
If it still doesn't help, i would suggest resetting device with LENOVO SMART AND RESCUE ASSISTANT but keep in mind it will delete all your data, so proceed after doing backup.
