Volume button loose/wobble - OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Questions & Answers

Hi Guys,
Received my Reno 10x zoom on Saturday and I found out that volume buttons are loose.
Could you please check your device and confirm if the build quality is like that or I have received a faulty unit.

Mine are a bit loose as well.

Volume button

Got the tablet today, my up volume button barely protrudes, but the annoying part is I can barely feel it. I can barely press it, and i have to click it with my nail. I can use my thumb too if I try but there is just no 'click' or feedback
Is this normal? Anyone else ? Wondering if I should replace it or live with it
Thankss
please list model, color and place of purchase.
Mine is the same. 32GB White version direct from Google. I can use it without my nail but still barely protrudes.
Yeah same, 32GB black from Google. I have to take a second or two to press the volume up at times..
Its a 16 GB Black, from best buy
Its pretty annoying, not sure its worth exchanging yet. I always get some bad first batch luck (Nexus 7 and screen lift etc. hah)
Im constently searching for the buttons
Maybe a software solution can help.
A toggle in the quick pull down menu.
Anyway i will be putting a case around it.
Lets see wat happens.
Oh my word... Will it ever end?! I have never read so many negative things about a device in my life. I have two of these things en-route to me, and honestly, I'm feeling like I've just wasted my money. What a let-down this has been. I can only hope and pray that somehow, mine don't suffer from any of these issues. Judging by the number of people complaining, I can't see that happening.
Mine protrudes actually quite a bit and I don't need nails to activate it. Seems like there is a lot of variation here... Why can't QC be higher? Seems like they rushed this out tbh, and software doesn't seem entirely finished either. Random lags are annoying, ART doesn't really feel any faster than Dalvik.
Same. Just got my nexus 9 and the volume buttons are so hard to click... I got the n9 16gb black from hk play store... Also got some light bleed on edge of screen. And it gets quite hot in the middle after using for a while.
Kinda disappointed as I have the nexus 7 and 10 and thought it'd be a worthy addition to the family...
Hopefully some of these issues can get fixed

I have the same issue. Volume down and power buttons both have a tactile feel and 'click' when they are pushed. My volume up button is recessed slightly lower and has no 'click' to it. If not for the volume notification I would not even know that I was pressing it. The entire volume bar is slanting inward to the point where it is almost flush with the frame at the edge of the volume up side. The power key also has this same slant in it. Combined with the fact that the processor runs very hot (compared to my n7 and n5 and other android devices), I'm starting to feel like I got suckered by this whole "Premium Android Device" pitch...
I have the 32gb white wifi model
same issue
16gb black wifi from best buy. power button not completely straight with some play in it that wiggles. up volume button more flush than the down and hard to press easily without good feedback

I tried convincing myself it was ok.
It's not. A $500+ device should not have the flaws that I experienced.
Micro-stutters in the O/S, even outside of apps.
A volume up button that is practically inside the tablet, requiring a fingernail to depress. No tactile feedback on press.
Plugging USB in and attempting a file transfer makes the device unresponsive and a corner of the device heats up so much that there is no way it's normal (it's not scalding hot... but it is "very" warm).
lightbleed
This is a device I paid close to $600 for after tax+s/h. It practically performs worse than my 2012 Nexus 7. Completely unacceptable.
RMA for refund has been approved.
Buying this device right now is a total lottery/crapshoot.
My advice: RMA your device.
Manufacturing batch of my unit: HT4AB (32GB - via google play store purchase at Oct 17 launch)
Same here, lower volume and power button are clicky, but the top volume is so flush and have zero feedback. White 32gb playstore Canada. So far, lightbleed, volume rocker, lockscreen loop when charging, screen flickering, noise from the top speaker when closing the camera app and random heating when browsing in Chrome... RMA!
Got mine today, volume button is flush with the device at the top. Tried talking to Play store about rma, but they refused saying it cannot be done unless it stops working.
Nexus 9 power/volume button.
I am in the same situation. Pushing those buttons without looking is a challenge enough. Now, try taking screenshots. Nearly impossible. When pushing the buttons with a flat surface like end of a pen, function will not trigger, because actual click happens when the button is already inside of the frame. I did try asking Google for RMA, but because buttons are still functional, warranty doesn't apply. I love the device, but for more than $500, it should not have problems like this.
I have to say that ios system is better
Perhaps it's flush on purpose who you don't accidentally press it while in landscape mode? I hate the tablets that have the buttons sticking out...makes the buttons easy to accidentally press.
Also, what's up with all these trolls with less than 5 posts.

Same issue here. I'm waiting until I can guarantee the purchase of a B or even C serial number build down the road. So annoying.

Capacitive touch buttons do not light up

Hi guys,
I just received my one plus x today. The phone is amazing both in looks and performance.
However, i noticed that my capacitive touch buttons do not light up ever. It is hard to spot them even in full light. I just wanted to make sure I did not receive a defective piece. Is it supposed to be like this?
Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Your question has been answered two posts above yours already.
I don't really care because i use sofware navbar, but i don't see why they didn't make lights for the capacive buttons. Is it so hard and expensive to make? Because it could be nice
The idea is to conserve battery?
This is awesome. One less thing to disable. Backlight in buttons is really dumb. It´s just two or three buttons. How can someone not remember two to three buttons?
I've come up with a procedure to compensate for the lack of backlit capacitive keys:
Materials required:
Scotch tape
A glow-in-the-dark paint pen
Steps:
Place a piece of scotch tape over the bottom bezel.
Using the paint pen, draw the appropriate symbols on the scotch tape directly over the capacitive keys.
Wait for the paint to dry per the instructions on the paint pen. (Note: Baking the device to speed up the paint drying process is not recommended!)
Wallah!!! :good:

Do NOT try this at home.
And anyways why do you need buttons when you have doubletap2wake? Also after using smartphones for a while don't you guys know where the buttons are usually located?

But there is no danger in it, so you could try it at home or your office, wherever...
Looking at most of the photos of this phone, it was difficult to see that this phone had capacitive buttons. Not to mention some photos with the software navibar on. I know it's nice to have options, but with a phone this size, I'm almost rather they reduced the bottom a bit more in favor of a slightly longer screen and opted for just the software navibar.

you dont even need to use doubletap2wake because this phone uses active notifications and motion sensors to switch the screen on whenever it is taken out of the pocket or picked up.

Loose vibration with crackling sound

Hey everyone. Just got the z5c and I noticed that the phone"s vibration is a bit "loose" comooring to my z3c. Also, about every 1 out of 4 vibrations makes a very slight but audible crackling sound. Has anyone else experienced this? Is that considered normal? It doesn't bother me too much but my main concern is the phone's longevity. Thanks
I have not noticed that on mine.
Mine too (Z5 E6653)
I'm not worried about it. The phone is NEW (2 months might be considered new).
And if it would break, the phone has 2 years warranty. And if it's outta warranty, it's not so hard to replace some parts yourself.

I've read that in another thread. It has something to do with the camera construction. If you you flick at the back next to the camera, you can hear the ratteling, too. In my case, after opening the camera app, it's gone when you flick against the same spot...
If that's not the case... well I'd return...

What does "snip at the back" mean? I'm not familiar with "snip" in that context.
I Do also hear this noise produced by the Vibration engine. I am using a tempered glass screen protector and I am wondering if the Sound might Come from the protector.
Did you experience any issues with this so far except for the "annoying" Sound?
i dont get that sound (film)
i saw another thread on this topic, i guess is the glass i have 5.1.1 maybe it also matter os ver
No such problem on mine. Tested with vibration diagnostics, nothing comes up.

When I Do the Vibration test, I am also Not able to hear that Sound. It only comes up when the Phone vibrates only shortly, for example when you touch the home Button or when you write a text with Vibration Feedback.
Recently I recognized that I can reproduce that rattling Sound by tapping on the backside next to the camera. So I assume the Sound is produced by the camera lense because I read somewhere that the lense somehow "floats" freely on the Sensor.

Note8 slight loose power & bixby button ?

hi guys
been looking for posts /threads about those loose/wiggly buttons in here
and i found out that S8 seems got similar issues where either power button or bixby button or even both button seems not as tight as volume button
while this is probably not big concern or have any effect to water/dust resistant with the one that have loose button as it have more gap than the button have tight-fit
i am curious is that manufacturing defect and should be replaced
or most people get similar slight "loose" button and said it within manufacturing quality
I have noticed this too, but not just for those buttons. All of the hardware buttons on my note 8 are a bit loose, it's possible to wiggle them up and down very slightly and make a sort of taking sound. No idea if this affects the waterproofing though. On my previous phone (iPhone 6) there was no movement whatsoever.
Yes i noticed that too and because my S8 power button wasn't that loose, i went to the store to test the models there but they were all the same, so i think its normal
Happens after some wear and tear on them.
It shouldnt effect the water rating since the buttons are on the very outside.
Inside the phone the button area is cup. So even if the button itself came out its still sealed.
The tear down videos and photo show all this.

Hum on that idk.
Mines out the box was tight. And even right now the only buttons that is a little lose is the bixiy button.
But my s7e was like this. Very firm out the box, then a few months later the vol would rock very easy.

Screen issues!

Anyone else experiencing this? See attached photo. Bottom end of the screen, pretty much half way down and onwards, colours and get lighter at 0% brightness. Top of the screen is black, like an AMOLED panel should be, bottom is light with an almost green tint. Used a screen test app and can see the shift even more and also navbar burn/retention.
Not impressed.
As I ordered this on O2, via Mobile Phones Direct, who do I contact or do I go to Huawei? Only been using the device for a weekend!

Ok so on lowest brightness in a dark room the darks on xda for example is greyer bottom half of the screen. But tbh any oled I've tried struggle a bit at very low brightness on dark/grey colours. Staying that yours does look particularly bad on the bottom 3rd
I have that too in the bottom right hand side of the screen. I already spoke to Sky to get a replacement and they want me to send pictures.

I'm printing out the photos I've taken in colour and including it with me return, keeping them for my record too. They want me to factory reset the device so last thing I want is for them not to be able to replicate the issue. Unsure what tests they'll do, as it's going back to Mobile Phones Direct
That sucks mate. I've not followed screen issues on OLED devices closely across the brands...so surprised this is happening with a premo device. Hopefully there are only 1 or 2 cases for some of these major defects...as many more becomes worrying!

Another thing, sorry for off topic is I've switched from Three to O2 (number transferred a few hours ago and now using O2 with old number) and I'm getting absolutely terrible 4g speeds. At work at the moment and signal hasn't always been the greatest on my office, but hoping when I test speed when I leave and also when I'm home that speeds are decent. Otherwise I may end up cancelling this phone and contract, and maybe I'll see about the Pixel 3 XL on a contact back with Three, or maybe I'll go sim only and get the Oneplus 6T - as the likelihood of getting root for this device is looking slim.....
Wait for 1/11, which ius the AUS release date of the phone and an extra week and see if Funky Huawei offer rooted versions of this phone. The hardware by itself is far superior...it's a same there's a lot of bugs and problems letting it down though...and then there's EMUI...
