What's the difference between installing GApps or manually installing PlayStore? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

And if I install GApps, will I be able to remove each app if I start to dislike it? Thanks. (I assume I can remove the apps installed manually on the Play Store)

With G apps, you can select and download the Aroma Package, you'll have the choice to install what you want. But once it's installed you can't remove the apps (unless you have root) because Gapps are installed as system apps.
On the playstore, the will be removable at any time.
I think that installing playstore manually will be buggy because, it installs apps automatically, something that other apps are forbidden to do.
Have a nice day.
And next time put your question on your post, even if it's on the title

Use Titanium Backup to uninstall the ones you don't want or a file browser and delete them from system/app
Sent from my GT-P7510

This means that I have to install the gapps first, right?

There's also multiple gapps packages out there. You could find a much smaller one that only contains the bare essentials and then install what you want from the play store. The down side to this is that the downloaded apps will use up internal storage where as apps included with the gapps package will use up your system storage (seperate partition.. or at least it is for the N4, it may be different here).

Find the gapps package that you need for you're rom and download it on you're PC... then use 7zip or another like program to open the zip....only in archive.. only in archive... :good:...do not unzip/extract it... after you have it up on you're PC.. in a window with 7zip/ect...remove the apk's you don't want and close it... push it to the phone and flash away...
Just be careful what you delete... there is a minimal gapps package around... where you could see what you can delete and what you need..
I mean you could delete everything but the playstore stuff and be functional, but some apps will only work correctly if they are part of the system partition... you could then push them to system app w/rom tool box or a similar app...

I cant install an APP (App not installed)

That's it, I can't install an app (cytus) from the .apk.
If I download it from the google play I can play and every thing else is ok. but I need to use Lucky patcher too unlock things
BUT, the real problem is that I can't install any version of this apk. (I guess when I was reinstalling it from titanium backup it broke some thing, I don't know)
Additional information:
I've already installed it once; I do have space on my phone; I've reinstalled the ROM and even changed to another one but all them are Lollipop 5.1

Lucky patcher is considered warez on XDA and shouldn't be discussed.
Regarding the rest of your question, it sounds like remnants of the app in question are present, therefore resulting in your play store error. Use a file manager to explore your data and system/data folders to see if you can find anything. If you do, delete it and try again.

Hi, I've already did that. Explored the system and trying find something related to the game but I did a full wipe on my phone and there's nothing left(I guess).
I'm able to download it from google play and play the game as usual but I can't install from the apk. And the same APK can be installed on very other phones
Any other tips?
Some one can help please?
Sorry to post for the 3rd time but I'm still having this issue

Google Play Store - Sideload or Flash

Hi, I just transitioned to CyanogenMod 12.1 and I want to install the Google Play Store app but I'm not sure what are the advantages of flashing a minimal GApps package over simply sideloading the APK... or whether there even are any advantages at all. I know that the GApps package also includes some extra functionality, but what is that functionality and can I do without it?
Just the Play Store alone isn't enough. It's best to install a Gapps package because it will install the Google Services Framework, Play Store, and a couple more things needed to make it work. I find it best to flash an appropriate package and then just disable whatever you don't need after you boot. If you uninstall something important, it's more of a pain to install again vs just defreezing the app. You don't save any more usable space by deleting them anyway as they are stored in a different partition vs apps you load from the Play Store.

Install Gapps as non system apps

I want to install the Gapps package as non system (ie user) apps so I can easily remove them whenever I need, instead of using titanium backup to make them user apps one by one and removing them. Is there any way to do this by editing the text files in the zip?
Also can I choose not to remove the cyan apps when gapps are installed?
(I'm posing here bec I'm not yet allowed in developer threads)
You can't. There are system files that are needed via a flash to make atleast the play store and play services work. Use the OpenGapps Pico Package and install all the other gapps from the play store

Can't use PlayStore anymore after flashing a rom

Hi,
I recently bought a le max 2 from GB with Gapps and multi-language and everything was working perfectly, but i wanted to update the phone, so i decided to install the stock chinese rom (eui 5.9.021s) through the stock recovery. Now, when I try to open the PlayStore it always stops and closes. Furthermore almost all my Gapps (YouTube, gmail, play games, play music...) seems to be installed (when I go to the options they result as installed) but I can't see them anywhere. I have already tried to uninstall and re-install it, but I have this problem as well.
Can someone help me please?
That is the problem of the Le Max 2. You have to go to app management, uninstall all the problematic apps manually and then reinstall them again.
Thanks for your answer!
Your method works for most of gapps (for example if I uninstall gmail and then install it again its icon will appear) but it's not the same for PlayStore... I tried to uninstall and re-install it but it doesn't work(there's its icon but i can't open it). I thought it could be a problem of Google play services but i can't even uninstall it.
Another strange thing I noticed is that when I click on the PlayStore it immediately pops up a message that says that PlayStore stopped working but it keps running in the background and it closes just when I Press a button ("ok" or "cancel") of the message that doesn't allow me to use it.
Have you got any advice for me about this issue?
I recommend to install via custom recovery, eg. TRWP.
Download your gapps package here:
http://opengapps.org
After than, flash it via custom recovery.
100% working method!

That's the problem of the phone, it wouldn't let some apps, particularly the system apps, to be uninstalled completely. When you try to reinstall the apps on top of the existing one, problem arises. Now, I am unable to get the IR Remote Control working again. If your phone is completely stock ROM and has not yet been rooted, back up all your apps and data, do a factory reset and reinstall them. If it still doesn't work, you might have to reinstall the apps via TWRP as rqzor99 suggested.
Thank you amowagou and razor 99 for the help you are giving me.
My phone has never been rooted and i have not installed any custom recovery (what's more this was the First time I tried to flash a ROM .
Probably if i do a factory reset, Google play services and the PlayStore will be deleted from my phone because the stock chinese ROM doesn't include them and then I could make completely new installation of them as amowagou said. Probably I'll try this solution because it allows me to have them without having to modify my phone.
As well I also apreciated the advice of razor.
(Obviously if someone else has other advises for me they are welcome!
I'll let you know if following amowagou's advice the problem will be solved
If you have stock ROM (your Chinese ROM) without Chinese market, called Lestore - there isnt another option, you have to flash gapps via custom recovery. Be careful with choosing package - arm or arm64 - TWRP tells you if you have wrong one and it will dont let you install it, no worries.
If you have Lestore in your stock ROM, just find gapps and install it.
Thats it
